Moved to Sherwood during Covid (from Midwest) & was unfamiliar with Safeway. I have had ONLY good experiences with employees at this location! The most recent was yesterday, with my only intention was picking up my curbside order. While pulling into the parking lot, I was getting shaky. I'm Diabetic, my symptoms got worse quickly. I left employee loading my vehicle & went into the store for juice. I mentioned to the cashier that I'm diabetic & needed the juice please. She prompted me to open it now & drink it, then continued talking to me to keep me drinking it. One of my critical low symptoms is absolute stupidity (brain fog), where I can't think through walking. The manager is terrible and the way to talks to his employees in front of customers is obnoxious! You will get attitude if you ask for assistance and an eye roll. As all Safeway stores, they have a majority ultra-processed inventory and staff that barely acknowledges you, but when they do, it's to check the ID of a 50 year old guy with a clearly blading head for them to ask you ANYTHING. And yet, despite me telling this checker my date of birth, he needed to tell me no for a bottle of cooking wine. During my wait, he sneezed into his arm multiple times and wiped his snotty nose on his sweatshirt. I just love the occasional professionalism I experience at this establishment; these two fools telling me Ai is going to get them fired. Sure, right. I purchased on of those grab and go signature bacon and egg burritos. It had almost no egg and only one small chunk of bacon. It was literally all potatoes. I didn't want a potato burrito. What a rip off. Almost $5 for a potato burrito I won't even eat. Do not buy this product unless that is what you want. read more

This is one of the stores that makes you want to shop anywhere else. I was searching for just about everything and trying to ask people who worked there to have them seem confused as to why I was speaking to them. I am super nice when I ask for help but it is hard when one person after another gives you bad information then acts pissed off about it. Ya know, it's a grocery store. Some days they have what I want in stock and some days they don't. Sometimes they have nice helpful people at the deli department, and sometimes they don't. It is clean and normally I can get in and out quickly with what I was looking for. Speaking of the deli: their chicken tenders, when freshly made, are killer good! But beware - if the tenders have been sitting and look dry, they will be worse than you think: chewy and dry. Request that fresh be made - takes about 8 minutes and well worth it. read more

This Safeway's deli departments food is good and I come there once or twice a week . BUT it's also home for one of the WORST employees I ever dealt with . Peggy U in the deli department is so unfriendly every time I go there . Today when I was at the counter she just looked at me blindly and didn't greet me or ask me if I needed anything . Just stared at me .. ?? She is so unfriendly and hates her job obviously. I'm sure she is a joy for her co workers ... freakin learn some BASIC customer service !! Also I was checking out last week and there was a young employee by customer service . The manager came over and ask what he was doing and if he had paid for his drink . Safeway in Sherwood has the worst employees I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. There's an older lady who is rude and condescending it's almost like ever time she was working the cash register she doesn't want to be there. Absolutely terrible. Another rude employee would be a guy named Taylor. Someone is not training these employees and reminding them that customers are there to spend money and there are other stores. read more

It requires you to be on the WiFi , select the specific store you're at AND once you clip your deals it typically does not apply them..maybe 15% of the time it's accurate. If I had another alternative I'd go elsewhere. The store management is sympathetic to the shit update and have informed corporate. Corporate doesn't give a shit. So from now on I'm calculating my own total and leaving exact change on the counter and leaving the store. If you are a frequent reader of my reviews, you likely know that I absolutely LOATHE Safeway. I was born, raised and continue to shop at Kroger-owned stores as they have transparent pricing (and give you sale price without membership card,) more amenities and are much more flexible about coupons and honoring prices. My experience earlier this week at this store exemplifies why I hate Safeway and all of its affiliates. The required "Rewards Card" or whatever they call it rarely works; I have loaded coupons on it, yet they almost never register when I go check out (even after verifying it is the correct product.) The prices are always higher; their "full" price is highway robbery and their sale price is still higher than Fred Meyer or even Target (which I complain has high grocery prices too.) I used the self-checkout line and had to have someone come over and correct my order. They slowly went through the ad and had to ask me several questions about each item, whether the tag was "correct" and such. Look, I'm not trying to get one over on the store; I am showing you the coupon and you can verify the tag, but the onus should not be on the customer, it should be on the store. The person helping me also gave off the "I don't care" attitude that didn't help matters, and their job performance was lackadaisical. I get it; I've worked grocery before and it's not a pleasant or fun job, but at least know how to fix someone's problem and not take it out on the customer. Even after that fiasco, several of the prices on the receipt were wrong but at that point I decided to just never come back. They can take the few dollars extra they made off of my ignorance this time, but I will go to Fred Meyer or just about any other grocery store from now on and give them my money. read more

I go to this particular store almost every week. Staff are usually a delight. But today I feel like I was scammed. The $5 instant savings wasn't on my receipt so I went to customer service to see if I missed it ( the receipts are really tricky at Safeway). The very pleasant young lady said that by accident last weeks mailer was sent out yesterday so it no longer was in effect. She gave me the current flier and I left, but when I got home I remembered that I saw stickers on the prices for the $5 off when buying $25 and it was still in the current flier she gave me. This my be partially my fault being in a rush but you can keep the $5 and I will not be shopping there in the future! You have lost a good customer please do better. I went to my local Safeway today as I've done now for the last 15 years. Mask on and spirits high I pressed forward. I stayed the distance but notice one women without a mask, I did not confront her but I did stop at customer services and inquired about "mask rules". Right off the guy behind counter said something like (tell it to or check with the Governor about it) That's was not what I needed to hear, the guy was being an A-hole! If Safeway isn't working with everyone wanting to get control of Covid19 then I need to find another store to shop. If one has a condition so as to not be able to wear a mask then order and pick-up but please don't be a 'spreader'. read more

The checkers at this store that I usually encounter are the WORST. They don't care about processing your groceries. All they do is carry on personal conversations with each other and with the bagging people, like they're at some social function, while the customer right in front of them is invisible to them. If you have a question about the way they are checking out your groceries, it's an annoyance to them. I wish there was another grocery store in Sherwood! Message to Safeway Corporate: replace the manager at your Sherwood store. read more

I am not a super fan of the Safeway in Sherwood. I really preferred Albertson's before they closed. I don't have much bad to say about the store layout, offering or employees. I think that it is adequate and for the most part all the employees are friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint really goes towards the corporate management of this store. Since they are the only "better" quality grocery store in Sherwood it is congested most every hour of most every day. You would be super hard pressed to pop in for just a gallon of milk without it taking you 20 minutes or better. They just don't have enough check stands to get people through in a timely manner. There is a Starbucks right in the heart of the check out area which could really be utilized for more checkout lines and maybe even put in a self checkout pod. That way you can speed people through faster. Overall I appreciate shopping here versus going to Freed Meyer in Newberg or Walmart here in Sherwood. read more

Checker Sophie was excellent when her lane got busy and most of us were patient, but a rude couple berated her and brought her to tears because they had to wait in line longer than they wanted. The couple even sought out the manager on duty trying to do whatever they could to get her in trouble. After watching this for about 5 minutes I couldn't help but step in and explain to these insensitive people that they were the cause of the entire incident and that they should apologize. Managers Ben & Abby remained poised and handled the situation admirably and told me they have lots of customers who treat them poorly. I realize this is a difficult time for a lot of people, but there is no excuse for being anything but kind to people who are serving you. I'm sorry Sophie and the rest of the staff for the stress that rude & unfriendly customers cause your work days. I respect and admire you all and will continue to shop at your store. read more

My daughter decided 4 days ago she wanted a "Donut birthday cake" for her virtual 5th birthday party today. I had no idea where to even find one so I called the bakery here. I asked them for a cake that looked like a donut with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. They said they hadn't made one like that before but would do their best. With everything going on right now I couldn't go there in person and show them a picture, so I kind of just figured it is what it is and we'd be happy with whatever we could get. I called the day of her birthday to check whether it was ready and tell them my husband would pick it up, and the sweet lady on the phone said, "Oh that's right the donut cake! It turned out so stinking cute I can't wait for you to see it." My husband brought it home and it was SO ADORABLE and SO YUMMY. Not only was it a cake with pink frosting but they also frosted and textured the bottom half to look like an actual donut. This place seems to have a high rate of employee turnover. From my experience working in retail, this usually has to do with poor management and managers. This place has been through 3 store managers in three years. That's not a good look for a company. I get transfers happen all the time, but in my opinion it's poor customer service and employee service to keep transferring managers in and out. But overall the staff are friendly. The self checkout has really been a plus. Now they just need to add more self check stations so self checkout lines aren't longer than the normal checkout lines. They should also have at least two people working self checkout with how many problems exist. Also, add another register screen at customer service so more than one person can be helped at a time and have two people working customer service. They should also have a button to push in the bottle room for customer service. The courtesy clerks should really have a walkie-talkie so they can easily communicate with checkers and managers. This walkie-talkie should also ring every time the bottle room breaks down. Actually, every employee should have one. It's unprofessional to yell over the intercom that so and so has a call holding or register backup is needed. The intercom should only be used to alert customers at store closing and to communicate absolute emergencies to customers (ie a lost child or danger to the well being of employees and customers) Other then those suggestions, the store is well kept and presentable. The staff are doing an amazing job considering how understaffed they are. Everyone staff member should be given a small bonus or at the very least a free meal for the hard work they're putting in! read more

I like this store, I've had great experiences so I'm particularly evaluating one situation today: called with a question and got left on the phone for 24 mins! I finally hung up. I didn't want to run around to 10 diff stores asking a simple question selling a prepaid Visa card...they do but the employee didn't know what denomination it went up too. Bakery FAIL= Ordered my daughters Birthday Cake from the Safeway in Sherwood Oregon. Went to pick it up today and was told I had to wait 20 minutes after the time THEY told me it would be ready. The person helping me was totally rude about it. Then to top off my experience they gave me my daughters 50.00 frozen cake it was in a used cardboard box with a ripped side and no top. It was a total downpour outside so while walking to the car and inside the venue it got totally wet.. What a joke!!! I will go elsewhere from now on. read more

We ordered a cupcake cake from the bakery for my son's 3rd birthday. The bakery messed up the order and it never got created. The lady at the bakery went above and beyond to correct the situation for us. She took a cake that was blue out of the case and put the finding Nemo stuff on there for me. Additionally, because that was not enough to match what I ordered gave me a flat of cupcakes. My little guy had the best cake and cupcakes and was totally happy. We might not have gotten what we ordered but we left feeling important and taken care of! read more

I prefer this Safeway to the one that's closer to my home. For one, it has Chinese food in the deli section. It looks nicer, the can recycling center is indoors and the people are friendlier. With the new smartphone app that they have, I've saved a lot more money on groceries than before. My only regret about this Safeway is that it doesn't have a gas station. read more

Safeway. It's a standard grocery store, though they tend to have better produce selection than the Albertson's across the street. Down side for me at least is it can be a pain to get across 99w to get here. Otherwise the staff is really friendly (my wife is friends with half the people who work here). I've been going to Safeway in Sherwood for years, and generally have had an OK experience, but recently had a horrible experience. I bought my girlfriend flowers through a website recommended by a friend for Valentine's Day. I didn't know, but they outsourced them to the Safeway florist. Even though I paid for delivery on 2/14, on the 15th we got a call from the Safeway florist department saying they weren't able to deliver and we could pick up there. Fine. Not their fault. We went to pick them up, and my girlfriend starts giving me a hard time about ordering the wrong thing - for some reason, she HATES carnations. She knew it wasn't their fault, and I was swearing that wasn't the arrangement I ordered, but not blaming the Safeway people at all. I pay for the flowers, go on our way buying groceries. I'm at the other end of the Produce department, quite a way from the Florist department, when the Florist comes up to me and says "I don't care who the f**k you think you are, but you're not allowed to treat people like that". I relayed that we weren't talking to her, that we weren't even complaining about her, and maybe a better approach for her would be to just walk away before she ended up looking really ridiculous. She proceeded to tell me "and your wife's a bitch", when a manager (Kaleb) approached saying he'd heard a complaint from the employees of the florist department about a complaining customer. I told him what was happening, all with this florist yelling at me with him there. Long story short, he talked with them, they basically admitted to what I said happened, and he apologized for them and gave me a gift certificate (I donated it at the register). Said "they both had a lot going on in their lives". I've e-mailed the Safeway corporate website in the 2 weeks since, and haven't yet received a response. These guys did a decent job with the flowers, but to be honest buying flowers shouldn't be a combative experience where you're chased down and cursed out by an employee. Didn't intend to buy flowers there in the first place, but unless it's absolutely essential I won't be buying anything else there as long as they leave this person unaddressed. I just stopped into Safeway to pick up some green grapes and a few other things on my way home from work. They didn't have any and the produce clerk said they hadn't had any for awhile. No green grapes? That's a basic item! As I continued looking around, I could see that their produce department was lacking in many items commonly found elsewhere, and prices were high to boot. It is impossible to drop into this location to pick up a couple of things and get out quick. Today at 12:30, four check stands open, at least eight people in each line. Many had a few items and could have used express lane...IF IT WERE OPEN! Last time for this store. The parking lot access is horrible. Not Safeway's fault. read more

This is my local Safeway, and the staffs are very helpful, friendly, and efficient. However, this store definitely needs to upgrade their checkout system: they need self-checkout counters. The Safeway management should modify this store with self-checkout counters, as there are always many customers with very few checkouts open. Self-checkouts will be especially useful for customers purchasing only a few items, but have to wait in long lines for cashiers during peak shopping hours. read more
