Safeway deli in Sequim has no way for customers to form a line. "Whose next" leads to, shrugging shoulders in a mob of hungry folks" Customers should not be in charge of "next". The fried chicken is probably 1000's of mg's over the limit, like so much sodium it makes you feel funny and not in a good way. It gives me a headache. This review is for the bakery- A few months ago, I put in an order for my wedding cake, I wanted a two tiered white cake with white frosting. No decorations. VERY simple. They called and said they couldn't even consider it because I mentioned the word wedding and would need to charge me for the amount of guests I had. I explained that the cake was literally just for me and my husband. Just for us to cut. And then save the top... they said it didn't matter and I needed to go in for a meeting because I mentioned wedding. Whatever I understand there are rules but the baker was SO rude about it on the phone. I ended up going it and just putting in a new order for two single layer cakes (the person at the register told me the problem was that "they couldn't do two tiers cakes" ) I figured we'd stack them ourselves. The day before the wedding they were picked up and I kid you not it looked like a child baked it. They were uneven and looked like they had been frosted by a child. Luckily my sister can bake and last minute baked us another cake. The whole experience with their bakery was pretty awful. read more

We are Seniors and were harassed at the Sequim Safeway for 2 yrs from 2 cashiers along with other Seniors where we live. We made a complaint to store manger for 2 years and no results. We changed Safeway and went to the Safeway on 5th Street in PA and like another world. Quality customer service and the "Best Cottage Bacon" always fresh. Never not 1 issue at this store. One day we were in a rush and needed something quick from Safeway and we went to the one in Sequim near Vintage Senior living. We went in for a couple of items. The tall one waiting on customers and the little one on working the scan area. We wouldn't to leave immediately. The little said with a big genuine smile and said I can help you at scan. How are you today? and I will help you with scan if you need it and will be watching How you are doing? little one says. Meanwhile tall one is giving us a look of kill. Little one came over and noticed we were trying to figure out cash back. Perfect! she showed us how to get cash back. We were very pleased and said to her as we were leaving. We said to Little One Thank you for the 5* star experience. I hope management sees this. I hope tall one will lead by e.g. one day too! Time is money and money is time. read more

I'm not a fan of Safeway at the best of times but my experience today reinforces why I rarely shop there ...: my checker was a man who i assume from his attitude was normally a manager of sorts. No customer service training and an overall crappy attitude towards my elderly MIL from europe. Totally unhelpful with an issue she was having and left her feeling very upset. The staff is always helpful if I need help, courteous and friendly when checking out, and professional. I have never, in over 40 years of shopping at Safeway, had a single negative experience. Came here with the Mo while she got some shopping done. I haven't stepped inside a Safeway in years, and this one is really nice. A great selection of produce, including organic, and nothing appeared old. Mo likes to get the pre-cut veggies as it makes life easier when cooking for her. They have them set up in bins here. The cashier was friendly and went out of his way to make sure Mo was well taken care of. The aisles are roomy. The store was clean, and the parking lot was too. Prices are high. $2 for a 16 oz Cherry Coke. read more

1) Anyone who complains about wait times for new prescriptions is too self-centered to realize how hard the people in the pharmacy work; Sequim has a huge retired population and a limited number of pharmacies to serve them. These folks work hard to fill every prescription and keep the customers happy . . . I know, I am an older person with five prescriptions and I've been using this pharmacy for something like 15 years. 2) The store is clean, the employees are busy but if you ask for help, they give their best or they find someone better equipped to help you. 3) Prices are average, higher in some departments, lower in others, but I use the paper and electronic coupons to get better deals. I shop wherever is cheaper, and I shop sales, and I end up at Safeway in Sequim for probably 40-50% of my purchases. read more

Best Safeway I've ever been in. Lots of variety, well stocked and the cashiers are pleasant. The fried chicken is super fresh, again lots of different chicken and Chinese food items to pick from. Bakery is pretty decent as well. Meat is excellent quality and reasonably priced. Nothing to complain about here! read more

I've never experienced such horrible customer service as I did from Kim. I'm trying to keep multiple orders separated because I'm shopping for people trying to keep the traffic flow in their store down while helping the elderly get groceries and she went out of her way to make sure she got everything mixed up and when I tried to ask her to please help me keep it maintained she called the manager on me and made a big scene in front of other customers. Absolutely one of the worst customer service situations I've ever experienced in my entire life. read more

I understand a cashier wanting to be friendly to the customers, but when cashier Cassidy is having a conversation about her personal life with the person she is ringing up while there is a line forming, I'd say stop the chit chat and get moving. I do like this store, I trust them when buying meat. The employees are friendly and the store is always clean. But why is it that every time I stop by there are are panhandlers in the parking lot or near the front door? This makes me uncomfortable and if it continues I'll be doing my shopping at QFC. read more

The same terrible customer service I've had at other Safeway stores. Products constantly going out of stock as if the store were going out of business, hard to buy the same product twice. Pharmacy has refused to honor GoodRX cards, is very argumentative, and loses your prescription paperwork if they don't feel like dealing with you. read more

Still think this is the worst Safeway I've been too. The deli counter is the slowest I've ever experienced. It's a toss up between here and the port Angeles location for who takes the cake on a lack of speed, attentiveness, and politeness. I would like to give much praise and encouragement to Sequim, WA Safeway-manager Brett Payseno for their hiring their cashier Steve (according to my receipt). I was in a bit of a hurry and noticed this cashier was on the ball! He seemed a bit like me in the sense that if you think about it our bodies are vessels for God down here on earth, for instance like cars and l like to think of Steve and I as NASCAR vessels built with high performance parts, much speed and precision. Our family has shopped here for decades, well at least we used to. In recent years things seem to move around so fast that one cannot find things half the time. Very frustrating. The clerks agree, but say "It is all from corporate. They make the decisions." Obviously they don't have to shop there. After hunting up and down the aisles for waffle mix, to no avail, I was told "Oh, it is with the pancake syrup." That makes no sense. Why not with the flour? Or the cake mixes? Or the pancake mixes? That is only one (of many) such experiences. They couldn't wait to add hard liquor and took out many other things in the process...including Orowheat Wheat Berry Bread. I have been buying it for over 40 years...know others who like it. Safeway (fibbed) told me it was no longer made. Orowheat told me otherwise. They needed the space for more booze. Then they tore out the middle aisles to make room for more toothpaste and deodorant (etc). Like people go to Safeway for that stuff. Half their cracker and cookies disappeared during that shake up. The store is dimly lit, has narrow aisles and frankly no longer measures up. I was sorry to see this happen, but they have lost sight of the customer. Fine, there several are other choices. Wal-Mart has wide aisles, bright lights, and endless selection. Lots of things for those of us who would like sugar-free items. Sorry Safeway, but you have lost my trade. If I feel like going on a hiking trip to look for a product you may or may not be carrying, I might be back...but don't hold your breath. I think your store sucks. read more

Be aware when you use your debit /credit card to buy gas at safeway they take out more money than your actual purchase amount. This has happened to us several times. Yesterday we purchased $ 54.00 worth of gas, when I checked my balance this morning, Safeway had charged my card $125.00!! When I called my bank they said, it was Safeway who took out that amount and now I have to dispute this. It will be a week before I can get my money back. I called Safeway and was told, "well we usually put (the extra money) back in right away!" Why is safeway routinely dinging our card for $125.00, no matter how much gas we get? I was very unsatisfied with the lack of help I received when I called Safeway. They should only be able to charge your card for your purchase amount! The excuse "well we usually put it back in right away" doesn't pass the stink test. I will never buy safeway gas again. read more

Really enthusiastic stockers when it comes to helping with alcohol selections. Good prices, but I have seen their produce rotting on the stand. (Granted, a lot of the time it's the organic stuff, but when you price organics so high, I'm not surprised more people don't buy it.) read more
