I got Essiac Tea, Apricot Oolong, & for fun tried their Wonder Woman blend. My primary reason for THIS shopping trip was to rejuvenate my Father-In-Law's herb n spice collection, & benefit from the value of buying fresh bulk - about 1/2 to 1/4th the price you pay to buy pre-jarred at the grocery. I got a lesson on the EIGHT types of cinnamon this shop carries from the knowledgeable staff, & purchased some basics like turmeric, pink Himalayan salt, coriander, poultry seasoning, whole nutmegs, curries. Tasted some flavored salts too like bacon, mesquite & chipotle. We curated a nice blend of powders to add to smoothies like maca maca, beet, matcha, reiki mushroom, etc. Many of their loose teas & herbs have a 1 or 2 Oz minimum purchase, yet that's fine as most pre-jarred items come in 2 oz containers. With a friend, I was in Sequim for lavender fields. But she was also recommended that we go to this place because she wanted to refill her spice collection at home. On a Sunday, this was one of the few places that were actively open on the early morning. Though not noisy, there was life teeming in the store that contrasted with its surroundings. Mask were on in store so I felt safe. I found the collection of products to be very robust. I was mostly interested in the tea but saw some interesting items in the spices realm (actually powdered spices and things like flavored oils like truffle oil). They also sold accessories like those for tea (teapots, strainers, honey stirrer, Etc.) Since the spices were in jars, we had to ask an employee to pour it out for us. They had a minimum weight of 2 oz you had to buy for items in the jars (spices and tea leaves) I bought a packet of oolong tea and the minimum size is enough to last me for a long month. The people in the store were knowledgeable about products they were selling and had guides for brewing times based on tea variety. Plus, the store has a pet mascot. I'm not sure I would come back in person only because Sequim is too far for me to go on a semi-regular basis. Luckily they do shipping of their products so I could do that. If you do visit in person, I would just stock heavy of items you need. read more

Great selection of spices and their service was excellent. I am big into spices from Provence and have a hard time finding a chipotle power that is hot, but not too hot. I love oolong tea. I specifically like golden tortoise, ie Huang Jai Gai, tea. I initially discovered the tea recommended by the shopkeeper at Sequim Spice and Tea. The quality was excellent. I tried ordering through Amazon and received an inferior product. Whoever sources the tea for Sequim Spice and Tea knows what they are doing. I stopped in today to return a few unused plastic containers I recently purchased for store credit. The owner, who sold me these items originally, went out of her way to make things difficult. She told me i needed a reciept which i did not have, however she remembered selling me the items and then went on to make a huge deal of how she would have to look throught the entire month of reciepts to make this happen. Seriously? For a store credit for $10 worth of plastic containers which I was wanting to trade in and pay additional cash for metal ones. Despite the horrible customer service, I do like their tea so I let it go and went picked out several teas to purchase. I then asked if I could use the restroom which I have used before. I was told no. I drive from Port ludlow to buy my tea and they have a restroom in the middle of the store. I was also buying merchandise. Goodbye forever. While I do not believe the customer is always right, I do believe in good customer service. read more

Now that I'm local, I get to frequent this shop more than once a year. They're selection is vast! I always have a hard time finding Summer Savory, as there are other varieties that are more popular, like just plain Savory and Winter Savory. We don't live over in the sequim area but travel there a few times a year. Every single time we have to stop this shop because it is amazing. I remember coming many years ago when it was just some tea and a few spices and it's amazing to see how much the store has grown since. Now there are oils, rubs, sugars, vinegars and more. Our favorite buys from here are the happy head tea, hair skin and nails tea, flu brew tea, blueberry and lemon sugar. The butter olive oil, mushroom, blood orange and many more oils are amazing! I have never tested a bad thing here so going here is a little dangerous for us since we end up spending a lot. But it makes it all worth it to get yummy stuff and support an amazing local business! read more

Anyways, the young woman who helped us was super helpful, knowledgeable of their products, and very friendly. She knew a lot about the local area, which made our experience even better. I visited this store alone on a Friday around noon to buy tea. A nice looking store, but be aware of opening that door that sets a bell off that causes a loud barking medium-sized dog to come racing toward you! This was not a nice welcome! No other customers in the store, and being a small person, all I could do was turn around. Two young women were in the back talking, but must have called the dog, I couldn't hear, but the dog went somewhere. Neither women were friendly. When I left, the bell went off again and the dog set off barking again. I was not impressed! I will not shop here again. I wish I could have tasted some of the olive oils, I may have been impressed. read more

What a great shop! I stopped for one or two teas and ended up stocking up for a few months. Coconut Rooibos, Jade Oolong, Rose Puerh, Chocolate Lavender, Roasted Yerba Mata and more. Oh my! We wandered into Sequim Spice and Tea during a rainy Sunday afternoon looking for a decorative tea pot. What we encountered was a full array of herbs, spices, oils, vinegars, flavored sugars, and flavored/enhanced peppers. To explain my delight, would perhaps spoil the fun. The staff was very courteous, professional, and helpful to the point that it sparked my creativity. The introduction to the varieties and flavors of balsamic vinegar (26 types) and oils (17 types?) was so imaginative that I think the rain stopped while we were learning about the different pairings! Lynari and Kaylen both were very informed about what worked and what might work. Rayly was grinding herbs for the various teas, but took time to point out that some of the herbs (skullcap) were actually the basis for modern medicine (aspirin.) A community aspect of the establishment is they offer "quilted" placemats made by the local quilting "club." The "club" is funded by the proceeds to make small blankets for the "first responder" to provide/give to children who they meet during the high-stress circumstances requiring their intervention. This is a wonderful place even if you don't drink tea, or would never consider oil or vinegar as something you would put on ice cream (or toast, popcorn, fruit, waffles, and the lists go on!) I'll skip the discussion of cookies, scones, muffins, or biscuits. A very friendly and informed staff will gladly answer questions and are open to soliciting your ideas. read more

He is an herbalist and shared much info us. I asked for his card and discovered he does consultations as an herbalist. He also shared that they were planning to use area in the front of the shop as a tea room...which I will look forward to on my next visit to Washington. We found this place on our last visit over to Sequim over the New Year's weekend. We stopped in to take a look, met Molly the dog, and enjoyed learning about all the spices, sugars, and teas they offer. The owner himself explained the layout, answered all questions, and provided us with yummy samples. We bought some sugar, tea, and spice mix and all have been wonderful.
