I had come in the store upon opening at 5am . I just have one issue the lady whom works at the register upon opening never wants to give cash back and makes a very unpleasant scene . Please give this cashier enough funds to give cash back their was a lady out of gas in your parking lot she had stated to me that the cashier in the store would not give her cash from her EBT although I had a gas can and helped her out but it's really ashame due to cash back is a service safeway provides and it deprives some homeless people from taking the bus. and it's truly sad because I know safeway supports the disabled and community needs.we do not put signs on your register and make a scene and embarrass one due to just need $20 cash back it's truly sad and then she talks about everyone and I really think thats very wrong. Be professionall and empathetic to others needs your a store for a reason not to deprive the public.. This is the note you get.

    Marble cake with strawberries

We got a birthday cake from them and it was a really good tasting cake! It was super moist and we loved that it was fresh strawberries inside. I actually thought it was going to be strawberry sauce or jam!! We got it with buttercream but I do have some things I'd change for next time. I'll be getting whipped cream even though I'm not a huge fan of either. The buttercream was good but it just got really hard after a night in the fridge. The only other bummer was that we made the purchase inline for a Mario kart cake with toys in top. We found out that they don't have any of the toys. Neither do the other 6 Safeways in the area. What???? So we had to settle at the same price for a print out Pokemon came. It still came out cute with his face but I had one sad kid that wanted the little toys. It also made for last minute running/calling around. The staff was really nice about helping us figure out what to do. We have also tried the tres leches cake at another friend's house and it was delicious! Way better than a lot of other grocery cakes!

Can you read the fine print ? ;)

Never park here ; there is a small sign that says when you leave the premise your vehicle will be towed immediately. Also , the premise only covers the 4 shops including Safeway and no other shops around that parking space . they tow the car if you ever happen to leave the premise for any reason and leave your car there even for few mins . I learnt this lesson after paying $$$ in towing . I spoke to Matt the property manager , morris towing company and the Santa Clara PD. None of them were helpful .

I went on to check it out because I needed a little somethin' somethin', and more than a decade later, I've been here at least twenty times and have even used its DriveUp & Go services a couple of times. For a suburban Safeway, it's on the smaller side, but it isn't small. The selection is very good for the size of the store. The parking lot can be a mess, but it's shared with other businesses, so that's not really Safeway's fault. The most annoying part of the store is familiar to supermarket goers everywhere: There's not enough room between the checkout stands and the aisles themselves, so while you're waiting to check out, you're blocking people who are trying to zigzag their way through all the aisles. But why am I focusing on the negative? The people who work here are always nice, and they always have everything I need. I often come here before I go to Costanoa; and the first time that happened, I picked up a very reliable, affordable, and lightweight flashlight from here. I've since bought at least five more flashlights from that company, although I haven't seen them here (I ordered the rest from the company website) since that first time. It can feel like a trek getting here, but I had this entire ritualized pattern that is now slightly altered because of a certain restaurant's lack of pinball machines. You probably don't know what I'm talking about, and that's fine. Oh, and when my friend Dan lived near here, which wasn't for very long, we came to stock up on pretzels and carrots before a night of Wiz-War, and I was shocked that it was the UPS Store Safeway, as I think of it--sort of. There might be another Safeway farther down Homestead Road, and that store isn't as good. I think/believe this because GPS once led me to a different Safeway, even though I had punched in Homestead Road. Speaking of the roads around here, the blocks are ridiculously long in this part of Santa Clara, so if you miss the parking lot, don't do the San Francisco right-right-right move. Just make a U-turn. I'm normally a right-right-right guy, but if you do that here, it will take you forever.

They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

Being a member also doesn't get you any additional discounts vs non-members. But hey it's free so it doesn't hurt. I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. The first time it was good, but the second time, the taste was off. They used to have really good seasoned vegan crispy tofu bites in the frozen section. I can't remember the brand, but I haven't seen them in a while, so maybe they didn't have enough interest to keep them in stock? The line can get pretty long sometimes, but it usually moves quickly. There's plenty of parking, but I've noticed that most customers park poorly (not within the lines), so it can be a bit tricky to find a good spot. I'd probably come here more often if they had a better vegan / plant-based selection.
