Not sure why the negative reviews. I could easily get what I was after and the person working self checkout was very friendly.

The "DISCRIMINATION" in this store is alive and well and (on camera) but the manager Jeff refuses to do anything about it. Let's see if we can find someone who will. The man over at boar's head had been mocking me for the past couple of years. This started when I was working as a doordasher. I asked a lady over the counter for some help and nobody wanted to assist. I asked again for the 2nd time politely and this guy screamed at my face and told me to stop asking the people over the counter for help. Not raise his voice, screamed at my face. I asked for a manager but nobody was available. Another employee walked with me to the counter and this guy just laughed at my face mocking me. I wonder if he would do that if I wasn't working for doordash. I sent the manager an e-mail and never got a response. This went on for a couple of years, this guy would always smile and laugh at me still mocking me to this day like i am not a customer. I've complained about this guy multiple times and everytime I was told there is nothing they can do because he's not a safeway employee. Another incident happened on the 24th of june last month. The last time I spoke to the manager complaining about this guy I was told that he was told to ignore me because that is all they can do. This idiot not only mocked me again, he even saluted. I waved my finger at him and said don't disrespect me and nothing else. This idiot started screaming and cursing at me on the top of his lungs in front of other employees and customers. He had the nerve to act like the victim when he's been mocking and disrespecting me for the past couple of years like i'm not a customer. The manager came and I told him what happened. I think he even saw the guy acting up while he was walking towards us. I told Jeff everything that happened and he accused me of "instigating" like cameras don't exist. He then gave me a speech of how nice the guy is and how everyone likes him and how he's known him for 10 years. He even said that reputation matters to him, discrediting me right away. I don't know how dumb you are Jeff but your experience with that guy from boar's head has nothing to do with my experience with him. I hope that's not difficult for you to understand. Jeff said there's no way this guy would ever do that when it literally just happened 2 minutes ago "ON CAMERA". Again I was told that there is nothing they can do and adviced me to ignore the guy after screaming and calling me a "mother effer" on camera. I also brought up my other previous complaints of discrimination. Employees being extremely rude to instacart and doordash shoppers. Refusing to help, walking away and refusing to bag groceries once an instacart shopper and a doordasher is detected. The employees actually fish for shoppers to not help them. They even watch instacart shoppers bag everything, refusing to assist no matter how long the line is. One time I had to help another fellow shopper because an employee just flat out refused to help. This discrimination happens all day everyday on camera. The crazy thing is, i'm still treated like shit when I shop because i'm already a known instacart shopper. Remember Jeff when I asked you what the difference is between "eff that guy" and "don't help them with anything because they are shoppers for instacart and doordash". You said nothing remember? I even pointed out to Jeff another employee and before I can finish he accused me of making it up and had another wonderful story for his employee. Jeff, what is so difficult to understand about the workings of a camera? Are you just avoiding evidence or just completely unaware of how cameras work? I mentioned this to you many times. Everything I said can be proven by your cameras. All our transactions are time stamped. Easily provable that discrimination is very rampant in your store and you refuse to do anything about it. This happens to hundreds, probably thousands of hardworking shoppers on camera. I like to repeat the word camera because maybe you're still confused about how it works. Just google it to avoid further confusion. I will try to contact your regional manager and Albertsons to find someone who wants to protect the store and not their shitty friends. I bet you didn't even report that incident to boar's head and swept what your friend has been doing to me and other shoppers under the rug. read more

Again closed before 1 AM and they are supposed to be 24 hours! Wow, someone's got computer skills! You know before they just scribbled a note and it made it seem like they weren't in the habit of closing the store "early" now that they have a legit note. It's clear that this has become a habit. They have the music blasting... Looks like some good fun in there! An employee just spent the last five minutes wrapping on the glass. Let me in let me in. I guess it's time for them to do whatever magic they do inside the closed store who often uses the excuse, they close the store because they don't have enough employees! It was bad that prices soared, but now Safeway is going insane on shrinkflation. Everything's extremely marked up by using familiar prices with only tiny packages available. Frozen fruit is now about $1 per piece with the new one snack packaging. Common OTC medicine that used to be 300 count is now 10 count. Fancy cheese wedges are a narrower slice. I can't go here any more. I'm offended by what they're trying to do. read more

I love this Safeway location because parking is plentiful and the parking lot aisles are wide. It's definitely easier to get around the parking lot here than at the other Safeway located down the street by Maria Lane. This store is huge and spacious inside. The store has always been clean whenever I visit. I also stop by this pharmacy, which is located along the back wall ; everyone in this dept is pleasant and always helpful. Do be aware that the pharmacy closes for lunch and to plan your visit around this. There is a Quest Diagnostics located next to the pharmacy. Starbucks is located at the front left side of the store, and you'll find restrooms directly behind the Starbucks. I don't use the restrooms, so can't comment on them. I only notice that there is a sign for restrooms near the front left side of the store. The only downside is the quirk that the self checkout registers have of not showing you the total discounts before you hit the pay button. I usually like to make sure that all my discounts are applied before hitting the pay button. I used to flag down staff to say, "hey, I didn't get the discounted price on this item." Now I've gotten used to the quirk and just wait until after hitting the pay button to review the final total. It's just one of those little things that bug me. read more

I like this location because not only is it closer to home, but it usually has the supplies I need that other Safeways usually don't carry or run out quickly. This location unfortunately has been attracting more transients or beggars in the parking lot. This review is from about 2 months ago or the Sunday of Memorial weekend. It felt like an ordinary trip to pick up the necessities and the only unsuspecting thing that happened that day was getting stopped in the spice section to pay for a basket of groceries. An elderly man had walked up to me and explained that his food stamp was not yet coming for another two weeks, asked if I could pay for his basket of food. I initially agreed thinking it was only a few items. Turns out to be 2+ weeks supply! I walked frantically in search for staff to assist me, but none were to be found so I just mustered the courage to pay for my groceries, and evade the old man, but he was at the front with a huge grin on his face. Probably thinking I'd pay for his basket. He was dead wrong! I wasn't sure if he was a scam artist. As soon as the cashier ran me up I whispered to him that "I felt unsafe and needed somebody to walk me to my car". He nodded and quietly phoned someone to escort me outside. I forget his name, but maybe it was Jose? Ruben? Regardless, thank you for coming out and walking with me. This is the only location I've ever been to that I've been approached a few times by the homeless. I usually go grocery shopping looking like them, not wearing anything flashy or indicating I cannot afford anything to buy. Lol. I know times are tough right now, but safety comes first-- elderly men should know better than to ask for financial help from a woman shopping by herself at the grocery store. read more

This Safeway has been consistently a pleasant place to shop. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the store itself is kept very clean and well-maintained. Finding parking is never an issue thanks to the ample lot, and I'm always impressed with their great selection and stock of fresh fruits and vegetables. read more

Met with a friend in Sunnyvale and needed a visit to a market and found this place near El Camino real, the people here are really friendly and overall, not all rushy and pushy to end a transaction! hahaha. Selection of cold beverage is limited, but that depends on the eye of a person, no worries to each their own. The market is pretty chill I lived in Sunnyvale and that/s the overall experience I get at the markets here. Got a El Colombe latte and a Lara cashew bar for a mini lunch for a midday boost, I needed to pick out a snack before I met with a person. El Colombe was smooth and not tight or biting like some canned coffee or that flat taste like the coffee has been shaken during the logistics process. Or sitting on the self-way past it's time before expiration. We need a Columbe cafe out here in Northern California to compete with the overrated Blue Bottle Co, not a brand I particularly like myself. Super clean location with fresh baked pastries and hot / ready meals on the go. Grocery shopping during the Coronavirus pandemic! 848 cases of coronaviruses as of April 1 in Santa Clara county, up from 14 on March 6. Coronavirus epicenter of California, until recently with Los Angeles county on top with 2474 cases. The pandemic has turned shopping upside down. With the "shelter in place", most of the population now work from home. So every day, including weekdays, is crowded with people hoarding groceries in a time of national crisis. Panic buying with people scared to death of the virus, and making a run on hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, and toilet paper. Toilet paper? People are fearful and will horde toilet paper and other basics in times of crisis, not caring about the needs of others. Trump should have had a quota of 1 per household. It's everyone for himself. You're on your own. First thing I notice is that the hours are now 6am-10pm, instead of 24/7 in the past. Handy wipes for your use right inside the entrance to wipe down your hands and the grocery cart handle. Those coronaviruses can live for days on hard surfaces! People line up at 6am and go straight to the customer service booth to get rationed items. Purchase quotas: toilet paper 1, paper towels 1, hand wipes 1, dishwashing soap 1, hand soap 1, medicine 2, hand sanitizer 1, water 2, baby wipes 1. Now granted a package of toilet paper might contain 6 rolls, enough to last my wife and me 9 weeks. And you are paying a premium for those products. I got a single cylinder of 35 hand wipes for $4, or more than 11 cents per wipe, triple the cost compared to Costco, where you can get a 5 cylinder package of 440 wipes for $17, or 4 cents per wipe. Tuesday March 31, friend on Facebook stood in the age 60+ only Tuesday 8am Costco line for 1 hour before getting into the entrance to get her 12 roll of toilet paper. At Safeway you are pretty much guaranteed to get it at 6am. $4.99 for a pack of 4 toilet rolls, each 400 2 ply sheets, compared to $1 for 4 toilet rolls, each 240 2 ply sheets at Dollar store, an 11 minute walk away. Safeway's price is triple that of Dollar, for a comparable amount of toilet paper. But you can't find toilet paper at the Dollar store, as hoarders grab them off the shelves as soon as a shipment comes in, even with the 4 pack limit. Don't come here as often as in the past. The hot Chinese food at the counter is now competing with the newly opened Wok On Express Chinese take out restaurant, a block away on El Camino Real, closed for nearly a year due to a fire. Prices for produce, vegetables, and salmon higher than Sprouts. which is an 8 minute walk away on the other side of El Camino Real. 10 minutes walk away is Trader Joes. There was a notice on doors that only 65+ seniors can enter the store 6am-9am Tuesdays and Thursdays. Notice not on the doors any more. Beginning March 24, Costco has the same policy 8am-9am on those days for seniors 60+, and Target the first hour Wednesdays, so that the most vulnerable population to the coronavirus can get basics before the hoarders! Came last Thursday at 8am and there were a lot of very young looking 65 year olds! read more

I mostly came in for the Starbucks in store but when I was ordering I was rudely interrupted by another customer asking for the bathroom code, it seemed like it wasn't I'm the first time it happened though, I was planning on doing some work on the tables but when I sat down I got a horrible whiff of urine and body odor, I didn't see the homeless person in the corner, not even the coffee beans could mask the smell, I couldn't stay longer after my drink was made, and didn't get the sandwich from the deli I usually get, but at least my usual drink was good. read more

The good: Their bakery section is stashed and full of amazing goodies! Their cake display was full and had tons of really cute and beautiful desserts (even ones shaped like dogs/bears). I've always been a fan of the Safeway black forest cake and fruit tarts. They also have an amazing floral section that is larger than most grocery stores with a greater variety of plants. I like how clean and organized the store is. The lady at the cheese counter was quick to offer us help when we were there looking at fancy fig jams. They always have lady fingers in stock (something I find difficult to find at other grocery stores) if you're looking to make a tiramisu. The bad: I tried to get French baguette but there was only one left on the Saturday morning I came. It was also already cut in half. I couldn't tell if this was intentional or not. The interesting: I came because I had a free tote and free 24 pack of water coupon. It said you couldn't combine coupons but I was able to use both coupons in one transaction. read more

this Safeway has a huge parking lot so parking is never a problem. I personally love the way the aisles are set up. It's very convenient for me to go through my entire list quickly and efficiently and I love that there's also self check out. Santa Clara County has so many Safeways. It's nuts. If you live in Sunnyvale or Mountain View or Santa Clara, you probably have two or three Safeways equidistant from your house. You lucky duck--I guess. This Safeway is fine. Like seemingly all Safeway and Vons locations, they've recently "named" each of their aisles after a local street. And like almost every single one of these that I've seen, they've made a mistake in the name and/or spelling of at least one of the streets. So cheesy, both the concept and the fact that they can't even get it right. Their cereal section is impressive, as is their bakery. In fact, for such a (relatively) small Safeway, this place hits all the right notes for me, and I'm a pretty peculiar shopper. The checkout situation was much faster than I thought it would be. I don't really even remember how I ended up out here, but I do remember that I needed bread and cereal and was making a mental note to pick some up later in the week, and then as I was exiting the strange strip-mall parking lot, I spied the Safeway and parked again. Why do I visit so many Santa Clara County Safeways? The world may never know, but I do. I think. I was aiming for three stars, but it was much better than I expected it to be, even though I had no expectations because I didn't know I was coming here until two minutes before I walked through the door. read more

Overall, the store is very clean, organized, & efficient to shop at. Would definitely recommend this particular Safeway for grocery shopping. Staff who make it apparent they care about customers shopping here and the store quality through service-oriented actions like asking if I need any help finding something when lost and thoroughly responding to and addressing all of my questions and needs. It happened at multiple visits that I could not find any shopping carts and had to go around the store to look for baskets. For sure, I needed the cart, but I was okay with basket. But, still, I struggled to find any of them. What's going on? Shouldn't the store manager notice it? Don't they have enough staff? How they expect customers carry multiple items? This is one of the newer Safeways in the Sunnyvale area and now one of the only ones! The parking is meh. It's ALWAYS pretty crowded here but they do have a huge lot shared with Pep Boys, RIP Toys R Us, European Wax Center, and a couple of other little stores on the same strip! They are open 24/7 which is convenient! Starbucks located inside, self check-out, Amazon lockers, bakery, florists, all of the typical Safeway works! They also have a mochi bar! I want to thank Vanessa and Maria in Customer Service for helping me get a duplicate charge receipt. They were both knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Unfortunately a Best Buy gift card I bought there said it was activated but Best Buy says it is not. Best Buy will not help, even with the proof of activation from Safeway. I have made five phone calls, have been "disconnected" four times, waited through a lot of bad music, referred to a phone number that does not work. I do not blame Safeway for this problem.
