This has being my Safeway for many years (15+ years), but in recent years I being very disappointed with their bakery, this was my spot to get 3 leches cake but lately the quality is being going down. 3 leches is know for being juicy and very moisture and this Safeways specifically was the best with their 3 leches, they were always on point, not Sunnyvale or MV were as good as this one, but now GOD SAFE ME! This is a neighborhood Safeway . Today we visit the flower and stuffed animals sections. They have some beautiful pre made bouquets. The flowers are so fresh and colorful! Their florist did wonderful job in mix and match the flowers together. Stuffed animals are cute and we even found a Hawaiian State Fish plushie. Halloween decorations are up . I visited this Safeway around 9:00 p.m. and found that only one register was open, with approximately eight customers waiting in line. I politely asked the cashier, Judy, if she could please open another register. Her response came across as condescending. She said, "I'll get to it after I count this money," in a tone that made me feel as though I was bothering her rather than simply asking for assistance. It felt like she was doing customers a favor instead of providing customer service. After she overheard me tell the person I was with that I was planning to leave a Yelp review, her attitude noticeably changed. She became much friendlier, more respectful, and customer-focused. Everyone can have a stressful day, but customers should be treated with courtesy and respect from the beginning of the interaction, not only after a complaint is mentioned. I hope management addresses this concern and provides additional customer service coaching if needed. read more

Safeway management, this is a serious problem. I had a cashier who was visibly sick at the register. She was constantly wiping her nose and coughing the entire time. It wasn't subtle or occasional, it was continuous and obvious. I ended up handling my own groceries midway because I was genuinely concerned. This is on management. You need a clear, enforced policy that if an employee is sick or showing symptoms, they wear a mask or they don't work the register. I don't want to hear "it's allergies." A symptom is a symptom. Employees are not doctors, and customers shouldn't have to guess or absorb the risk. I'm saying this because I got sick, and I have long COVID and a chronic condition as a result. That's exactly why this matters. We all went through COVID. Everyone should know better by now. I cannot be expected to wear a mask everywhere I go because other people come to work sick. If someone gets sick a few times a year, they can wear a mask while working. That's basic care and responsibility. Your groceries are too gd expensive and too mid for me to put up with this. This Safeway is really nice. They redid the floors and revamped the bakery in the last couple of years. I bought two small bundles of flowers here yesterday and then put them together at home to make a really nice bouquet! The flower selection at this Safeway is pretty diverse, so I found some good flowers that I liked. read more

It's Good Friday and Easter is right around the corner. I'm disabled. I had to work, so I ordered our groceries on the app. My groceries were about $150 and the total with tax, delivery, tip, etc. was just over $180. There were a few substitutions that had to be made that increased my bill, but I understand that part. Driver gets here at the same time that my dad pulls up. The driver doesn't speak English and has to communicate with an app. He tells my dad that he has a delivery for Michelle and just needs an ID. My dad wanting to help lets him scan his ID, with the intention of just bringing in our groceries for us. I had cooking wine in the order, so the app immediately cancels the order. No way of fixing the situation. Driver leaves with all the groceries (his time being completely wasted). Chat services on app aren't working. They offer me a 877 number to call. It took me over an hour to get someone to pick up on that line and confirms that the order was cancelled and the items were returned to the store shelves. I'm told that I can expect a refund in 7-10 days. App still shows that my order is out for delivery, although the allotted him of delivery has already passed and now I have no extra money budgeted for groceries for the upcoming holiday. AS CUSTOMERS, WE EXPECT BETTER. If the order is cancelled, so should our purchase be. We shouldn't have to wait for a refund, since nothing was really returned. read more

It's a clean store, but I come here for only emergencies. Prices are high. Download the Safeway app to get it back down to "normally high prices" The clientele. You get people cutting at the self checkout. You have old ladies stealing electricity outside with those battery backup devices. Kids messing around in the isles. There is a reason why this Safeway needs a security guard. Ice cream is sometimes frozen over if you know what I mean. Like it once defrosted and then froze again. Detergents are now locked up. I'm surprised but not surprised at all. Sometimes the prices are marked wrong. Like right now, the Christmas cards are marked 75% off but will ring up full price when you checkout. Sometimes prices are straight up price gouging. Don't buy flowers here on Valentine's Day. Don't buy water here on a game day. Parking is awful here. I don't know if this issue is specific to this store or if it's a company-wide thing but I'm really getting fed up with the bags. Ever since the state of California banned plastic bags, the paper bags offered by the store have really gone downhill. Kudos to those who always remember their tote bags but I'm not one of them. It's bad enough the bags have no handles, but they are so thin they rip and tear if you so much as look at them. It may seem like a trivial issue but I'm buying considerably less here because I know if the bags somehow survive the trip home, they won't survive the trip upstairs to my apartment. Not to mention literally every other store I go to has better bags. For the prices we're all paying for groceries these days, bags we can actually use doesn't seem like that big of an ask. read more

I've been shopping at the Safeway in Rivermark Plaza regularly since it's very close to my home, and my boyfriend and I usually go there every week. Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience today with an employee named Rosemary at the self-checkout area. We asked for assistance scanning a 40-pack of bottled water, and instead of helping politely, Rosemary responded in a very rude and aggressive manner. She said, "You need to lift it. If it's hard for you to lift, how did you put it in the cart in the first place?" Her tone and attitude were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. She then scanned the item aggressively while clearly showing frustration toward us, even though we were completely polite and calm. What made the situation even worse was that as we were leaving, she sarcastically faced us and said, "Are you sure you don't need help lifting them?" That comment was unnecessary, mocking, and incredibly disrespectful. We did nothing to provoke this behavior, and no customer should be treated this way for simply asking for help. Rosemary's attitude was shockingly unprofessional and inappropriate for someone working in customer service. I truly hope Safeway takes this complaint seriously and addresses the issue, because this experience left us very uncomfortable and disappointed. read more

An incredibly rude delivery associate brought my pick up order to my vehicle. The first words he said to me, were "you know you're supposed to be here before 10 right? I don't even know how you did this..... I'm going to give you your order this time..." Didn't bother to greet the customer, not an ounce of politeness or explaining the big crime I committed by arriving at Safeway to pick up my order at 10:20 instead of before 10 PM for which I had had no notification whatsoever, neither from the app nor any other source that I was supposed to arrive before 10 PM. It's been a while since I've shopped here, but it seems like they are remodeling, so you can tell part of the floor has been scraped up, etc. The bathrooms are out of order. I don't make frequent trips to this particular Safeway but have found myself here more and more within the past two months. Parking typically isn't bad but there have been a time or two where I am forced to do quite a bit of walking. Foot traffic here can be bananas. Not a deal breaker but worth noting. Lmao. Aisles seem to be a lot better stocked than the Safeway located near home. This makes for enjoyable walks with my little 4yo, up and down through each lane. Would have been 4 stars but I deducted one due to the cashier/registers not picking up one certain sales. Rosemarie lied and stated I assaulted her after she came into my personal space to void my transaction twice for no reason. She was upset trying to assert her authority through discriminatory actions & words and I wasn't going for it. I've had several conversations with the store manager Robert regarding the harassment, false accusations and the discriminatory behavior and actions and nothing has changed. This review is for the Safeway Bakery. Two stars for the cake because it did taste decent. It is not as fluffy and more on the sweeter side. I took three stars away because they did not follow directions on how I wanted the print to be large, they put the "Happy Birthday" on the wrong cake, and was late for the pick up time. Today is the Marines Birthday so in celebration, my department placed an order for two cakes for the cutting celebration. There is a tradition where the oldest Marine cuts a piece of cake with his sword and passes the slice to the youngest Marine. It is a way to celebrate the past, present, and future. The oldest is passing his experience and history to the younger generations from my understanding. A chocolate and white cake was ordered. My coworker placed the order a week before the event and was very thorough on what design and print. The day of the bakery called saying that the cake wasn't ready at 9am, the pick up time requested. The bakery didn't have rice paper for the print, so we had to pick up the cake a hour later. Luckily, we weren't doing the cake ceremony not until noon but someone else had to pick up the cake since the time changed. When the cake was picked up the writing was on the wrong cake and the design on the rice paper should have been larger for the branches. We scrambled to find someone to write "Happy Birthday" on the cake cake. Someone did it but it was so sloppy and definitely looked last minute. read more

Amazon lockers are conveniently located at this Safeway. It's hidden on the side closest to the donuts and bagels. With all the porch thefts happening in our neighborhoods, I think it's best to be on the safe side. Placed my order on Sunday and picked up my order here yesterday with no issues. This is funny, but ... I'm an unhappy camper right now. I go to the store at Rivermark a lot. Sometimes for lunch, sometimes on my way home from work. Today I stopped for lunch. I really like the sandwiches. :-) I wanted to get a bottle of Single Barrel Jack Daniels. But it's locked up. So I pressed the button, and no one came (on the right in the picture). I pressed it again, and still no one came. So I went to go get my sandwich. I came back, and tried again, twice again, and no one came. There is a special price for two bottles, so that's revenue they just lost. At least $70 is a good estimate. How do I fix this? Go to customer service next time? Oh yeah, and *then* I tried to submit feedback on Safeway's website, this page: https://www.safeway.com/inquiry/contact-us.html I fill everything out, I click on the Submit button: AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENED. This Safeway is probably the cleanest one I've been to. It is within walking distance from my house so I continue coming here. The self-check out is what keeps me in and out of the store really fast. The machines are out of order from time to time but it's a quick way of grabbing what I need. Too bad when I'm buying alcohol it'll take a little longer because they're not allowed at the self check out. Overall this Safeway is convenient and tidy. read more
