I went to pick it up on Wednesday, only to be told it wasn't ready yet. When I explained that I had already called it in on Sunday, the employee initially said she didn't see anything in the system and told me to come back the next day. After I reminded her again that I had called in, she suddenly "found" it and told me to come back in 2 hours and that I would receive a text message when it was ready. I never received the text message they promised. I returned on Friday, and once again they couldn't locate my prescription. After more searching, they finally found it -- but they also tried to give me someone else's order at the same time. I had to explain that I only had one prescription and asked them to verify it using my phone number, not just my last name. The entire experience was very unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the drive-thru wait was over 20 minutes. For something as important as prescriptions, accuracy and communication should be a priority. This pharmacy seriously needs to improve its customer service and organization.

Easy to navigate, got my things and went to check out I walked to self checkout and someone was outright shoveling candy bars in their pants without a shirt on. The workers were chatting up front and workers passed the guy and didn't say anything Which, oh well, everyone should have something to eat. My gripe is more about the workers socializing when 3/5 self checkout registers were ppl who needed help or just abandoned mid purchase. I went to the regular register and everyone was just moving so slow. I came in in a neutral mood but just felt really overwhelmed in there. Plus, I'd really love if their bags had handles again.

I went in to get a sandwich on 9/23/15 @ 11:44 am as usual but every time i go there is something new with the sandwich or Deli place i order Turkey Bacon Avocado the lady put in avocado from a dry out pan that she was to lazy to get anothe one i ask could you please put avocado she said extra no problem and she went and go a head get a new one put on then she rub my sandwich with bacon all over the paper and she forgot to put a cheese and she throw the sandwich on my face walk a way i come to this place every time i own a business a block from them so i go get lunch there but sorry every time when i deal with those two African american lady it is always something if this happen a gain i will go talk to the manager because i really like they are sandwiches but customer serves and the way they handle the food 0% satisfaction. This is my hometown spot to shop. I go there every week. Safeway's Just 4 U program saves me a lot of money on the things that I typically buy. It is a clean, no frills, store. It's nice like most Safeways are. I must say, the Castro Valley store is better, but this one is convenient and the people are always nice. Plus, it is right next to CVS, so I find the best deals between the two stores. My only complaint with this Safeway, is that the bakery section is often depleted when I go, or they don't have the items that are on special. That is frustrating. I went there a week ago on a Saturday morning and half of the bakery section was empty. Hardly any desserts, no cookies, no cinnamon rolls -- just some fresh bread and a few cakes. I asked if that was the "clean out" day, and was told that multiple people had called in sick (or did not show up). Despite the frequent bakery disappointments, it is a good store with nice employees. read more

Safeway, Washington Blvd... I've gone there for the last time. Nearly every time I go into that store, I have some kind of problem with homeless, drug addicted, mentally ill. Yesterday, again. I'm just quietly, calmly, minding my own business, looking at the cheese, win some crazy woman speaking loudly in Spanish, charges me and screams in my face, the only word I understood was "f****** b****". She startled me and scared the crap out of me and I thought I was going to have to pop her right in the face, but she just moved on to go scream at someone else. Very typical of this store. Downtown San Leandro is becoming a dumping ground for folks being discharged from John George. Lots of people see it, lots of people know it, everyone apparently except for City officials. I'll be going to either Castro Valley or Foothill Blvd. Safeway from now on. Sadly, I'll probably be avoiding downtown San Leandro completely. read more

I am not sure why other reviews say the lines are long here? I always use the self serve check out. They have 4 available and you scan your own items, pay with either cash or credit card, the machine provides change too. This Safeway inside the Greenhouse is one of the best and cleanest. Unless you like this major question "Spare Change" this Safeway is a haven for panhandlers. Managers on staff could careless about complaints about the problem. Store is dirty (floors) and do not even get me started when it comes to the deli dep. Or park behind Pampas Cafe. Don't get caught in the death loops of parking in those first three rows near the entrance.

You see US Foods is one of the big wholesale food distributers that restaurants big and small use. They will deliver big loads of goods whether food or supplies right to the restaurant, usually on pay terms so no cash is handled. And for busy restaurants this is a must, as they constantly need raw goods coming in weekly if not daily. This is the first time I saw a 'US Foods' store. I think they took over something else. But it is a big store/space where almost everything is in bulk and/or wholesale form. For the home cook there is really nothing here that would fit their needs/kitchen unless you like to buy in bulk. 20 - 50 pound bags of beans, sugar or flour is usually just too much for an average Joe to carry to the car, let alone store in a home pantry. But if you like to entertain/cook for a large group like a big birthday, a bbq outing or big holiday get-togethers, then this place may serve you a purpose. I browsed one day and got a good feel for the place and here are my observations. If you go into the fresh produce area or the meat/dairy areas, you will have to go into a refrigerated room. The whole room is about 35 degrees so if you go in there in shorts and/or a t-shirt, then you will not be able to stay in there for too long. Produce not really extensive but you will be able to find some basics. Some things are in cases/big bags but not everything. Actually lots of things in smaller packaging like 2-3 pounds which is doable for a home fridge/usage. I'd say the offerings here are somewhat similar to what you could get at Costco. Meats are a mixed bag. Lots of processed meats like deli meat in whole form. Lots of cheese too but much too bulky for a home fridge. There are pork and beef but all in big/whole chunks. Nothing will be cut into steaks. Big packs too like minimum 10 pounds or more. But if you're cooking for a big group, you're gonna need a minimum of 10 pounds so this may be a draw for me. The bad is for the beef selection, even though the pricing did seem good, there is no 'choice' grade. They use 'select' grade here, which is a notch down from choice. But if you're just braising or slow cooking then this grade would be just fine. Costco only serves 'choice' grade or higher so theirs is more premium. Pork is fine here, I got some pork tenderloin in 2 packs, which is one of the smallest packages I saw, ideal for home usage. Good selection of restaurant ware. Pots, utensils and storage containers. This is a big draw for me as I love restaurant quality storage containers. They are sturdy, with tight lids and many are stackable. These are even hard to find at Costco and Smart and Final. On a weekday morning there is zero traffic here, complete opposite of Costco. Now this is more geared towards restaurants, but knowing if I can get something here or Costco, I will choose this, as the parking and ease to get in and out is an amazing asset to me. I was gonna give them 3 stars for not really being friendly for home usage but given those certain occasions where I'm cooking for 10 or more people, then this place will get a heavy consideration. And drum roll please******no membership card needed. Open to the public. **cymbal crash**

I often feel the bigger names like Chavez Market and Arteagas are too big and popular for me. This one is very low key and serves the immediate neighborhood. It's about double the size of a 7-11 for reference but I can find most things I want/need for my Hispanic kitchen staples for a price that doesn't gouge me in these bumpy economic times. I like their clean and well stocked produce section, their spice and dried chili racks, chicharone galore and a cool meat section where you have to order from a legit butcher at prices much lower than any American grocery store. Whenever I'm gonna throwdown some enchiladas, posole, caldo de res or a backyard taco fest, I'm usually getting my start here. Trust.
