Nice, clean and friendly Safeway. Starbucks is conveniently located in the store for your end of checkout treats.

This store's employees do not follow COVID-19 mandates. Three employees in one day had no mask on including floral, one in bakery and one stocking produce - both just breathing on the food. I reported to the manger and the next week same thing. It is very disappointing- especially as we are surging again. read more

Excellent customer service. I wasn't the ideal patient, in that my doctor called in my medication but I didn't pick it up for about a month. However, when I called in finally ready for my Rx they were sweet, profesional, and had my medication ready right away. read more

Safeways are generally nicer than your frys, and this one is no exception. The starbucks crew are always nice, this spot has the cool covered solar parking. read more

Had a great experience here this morning. Super friendly and helpful employees, well organized store and impressively clean! These small extras make shopping with young children a lot easier. Thank you! read more

Very poor experience in the deli department today. Mary G was extremely rude. I was ordering a sandwich, and it seemed as if every request I made was an inconvenience. Won't be back. read more

I used to always shop at the store on 35 ave northern before it burnt down, I loved that store. It was closer and seemed to have a larger selection of things i wanted. This store is just as good,if not better in other departments. I would often visit the deli for a salad that this store does not carry(deviled egg macaroni salad). Which is disappointing. One of the workers there recommended a new salad to me and now I get it every week. I believe her name is Mariah and she is a great employee always making me laugh, and never making me wait. Another great employee would be Landon, his line is always short and his attitude is always friendly. I visit this store every week and always go to his line. I also love the big clearance section they had in the front, sometimes you guys have it out, sometimes its in the way back of the store. read more

I just went to Safeway and left my iPad behind (it had my shopping list on it). I was all the way home when i realized it. I am happy to say when I got back to the store, it had already been found, turned in and locked up in the manager's office :) "Thank you" to the person who found it and turned it in and the staff for stowing it away. Best of all possible outcomes! Yes Karma, you certainly do rock ;) read more

There are three people you should call your friends- your mechanic, your plumber, and your butcher. Now, maybe you think you're butcher should be found at some local, small, corner butcher shop, but I'll bet he didn't treat you as well as Richard does at this Safeway location. If he's not there, wait until he is. His authentic and sincere desire to deliver the best customer service is unmatched, and he also knows exactly what best matches your cooking/grilling needs.... and why not, he's been doing this for a couple of decades. read more

My favorite full-size grocery store. Like other reviewers, I notice it is always clean and neat. It is also well stocked and the fruit and veggie quality is excellent. The employees are pleasant and helpful. This goes double for the pharmacy staff who recently went out of their way to fix a screw-up by my husband's doctor regarding an Rx. I have been going to that pharmacy for 10 years and always get excellent service. A couple times I've gone right after a doc appointment with prescriptions that clearly indicate I feel like crap (anit-nausea meds for example) and they bump my prescriptions up in the queue so I can get home ASAP. Maybe they just don't want a sick person hanging around, but that's OK too.The parking lot can be a nightmare, especially right before holidays. read more

Update on how terrible this delivery service is: Safeway gave me a $75 credit to make up for the fact that I got my last grocery delivery 42 hours late. I used it to place another grocery delivery and, amazingly, I've been waiting an additional 45 minutes for it outside of my 2-hour delivery window and it still hasn't arrived and customer service can't find my driver. Nice work, Safeway. read more

Every single time I go to the Safeway deli to have a sandwich made, It takes me 5 or more minutes to get anyone to acknowledge that I'm standing at the counter to take my order. And they take another 5-10 min making a simple sandwich. It's not a place to go during a quick lunch break. I recently had to walk the person through how to make a grilled cheese, and a three cheese panini is on their menu, it was not a custom order. read more

This store has be best employees....especially Martha in the liquor department. Always helpful and friendly. Can't give the store 5 stars because of the way they move items. You expect an item to be in a logical place. Sometimes it is, sometimes not. Take Thanksgiving. There were no pumpkin pies in the bakery department. They were all hidden among other items by the door. Walnuts. For months always at the end of the produce isle. Then, all of a sudden moved. Otherwise...great store. read more

This is my favorite supermarket. It's nice without being too snooty (ahem, AJ's) and their Musak selection is usually pretty good. This past weekend I heard Guns 'N Roses "Patience" while I was perusing the Lean Cusines. How cool is that? read more

This place is really nice! There's plenty of stock and things are well place and easy to find. I was staying near by at a friends house will visiting. We went a few times to get common things and we always found everything easily. Prices were very reasonable. read more

I would much rather shop here than WalMart. This place is clean and the employees are very polite. They have a wonderful coffee shop and the best fresh soup and the large is only $3.99!! read more

I usually don't go to Safeway. I have a store closer to home. There were times when my daughter was young and took dance class I would scoot down and get some provisions. I was never convinced that the prices were better than my neighborhood store and I was never terribly fond of the layout of the store. I used their delivery service when we had coupons for free delivery and that was terrific. Nothing like a van showing up with your groceries and someone else bringing it in. Nice! The Starbucks in the store is OK but confusing when you can just go buy coffee to brew. It is convenient when you need a coffee and minor provisions. This year we ordered our Thanksgiving turkey dinner from Safeway as all others were sold out. What a TERRIFIC dinner! A huge cooked turkey, plenty of sides and delicious to boot! Thanks! read more

Honored to be the first to review this Safeway. I've been going here regularly for the past 10 years with at least once a week visits. I keep coming back for many reasons, here are the highlights of my trips: BUTCHER, they have an amazing group here with always a smile, friendly and very knowledgable. Steaks were on sale this last week so i added a pic. Love the brats here in a 5 pack for $5. REDBOX, located here. WELLS FARGO here as well with great customer service. STARBUCKS employees are average but still ok. Produce is not as fresh or cheap as sprouts, but they are helpful and it seems to last longer then costco produce. Soda is often buy 2 get 2 for 12 packs so I often stock up for my soda machine. Florist is amazing and ialways has custom vase arrangements to buy ready to go. They have a new machine this past year to trade in gift cards, which works but has limited placed it works with. Overall I am very happy with my weekly trips and am always able to take advantage of more then one "honey do" every time I go read more

Safeway - Steaks on sale this past week, yummy - Grocery Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Don't bother calling about product availability, they don't really check. Unfortunately instead of saying that they "should" have it or might have it, they say they DO have it. I went out of my way and stood in line in customer service for 10 minutes only to find out they USED to have it! Waste of time. read more

Clean store with alot of good deals if you have the Safeway card. Had to question their store policy as one of my items did not scan in at the sale price and I only was refunded the difference when going to customer service. At other Safeway stores (such as the one on 67th just north of the 101) I would have got the item for free. Maybe the store employee didn't know the policy or the policy varies between Safeway stores. Does anybody know the answer? read more

Very disappointed!!!! You've added self check out to replace express lanes?! The only reason I come to this location is because the staff is very friendly. Forget trying to stand in any other line, and waste more of my time. I hope the staff is able to keep their hours! read more

I have shopped at Safeway for 30 years. The store continues to be a quality place to shop. I am not a fan of the upscale remodel they have done. We already have Aj's for the overpriced items. The bakery is great, love their cakes. It is sad that their cookies are now some type of institutional cookie, they use to make monster cookies " just like mom used to buy" LOL.. read more

Excellent customer service, well-organized and a fantastic produce section. I enjoy my shopping trips to this store. Great job in the floral department, too--my flowers and balloons for a bridal shower were arranged and completed within minutes. read more

You have GOT to do something about the express lanes. It seems that every time I go in recently the cashier in the express check out area is in training. And takes forever. I get it that new cashiers need to be trained. I've got a lot of patience and a good sense of humor. But enough is enough. It happens so often now that it's obvious this is your training method for new cashiers. When people use the express lanes they expect to be checked out quicker than the non express customers. Stop using the Express lanes to train new cashiers. read more

This store took out four self check outs six months ago but have yet to open more registers. The 15 items or less registers they put in place of the self checkouts are never open. Anytime you go in to this store expect to wait an hour to check out behind three soccer moms doing weekly grocery shopping. Every time I come here (normally weekend afternoon) there are only two lanes open and ten people in each. One lady ties the bags shut as she checks people out (HER NAME IS MARGE AND SHES SOO SLOW HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO USE THE HANDLES OF MY BAGS WHEN THEYRE ALL KNOTTED SHUT)!! It's unnecessary and takes up so much time. I recently went on a Thursday at 2pm and they had five registers open! Why it wasn't even busy! read more

I love my Safeway! Last minute stop tonight for Thanksgiving supplies and they were still well stocked with turkey day staples. The Starbucks inside gets me almost every time. Everyone who works here is so friendly it's almost creepy LOL. And clean. Wow is this store clean. Love the produce section too. Always looks so nice. Safeway may be a bit pricier than their competition but they're worth every penny! read more

Pretty nice grocery store, everything you could ever want in a grocery store, good prices, friendly employees. Only downside is I occasionally get harassed by bums out front of this place, I offer to buy them food but they just want money for drugs. read more

The service was completely horrible , there was graffiti all over the bathroom and employees were useless standing around not moving or knowing where anything is when I ask , cashiers are ultimately slow and my change was dropped, it smells like trash as the construction has been at a stand still for months! There was also canned goods with past expiration dates and freezer burned bread, shopping cart services are almost useless and eployeeswould not take my carts read more

I filed a complaint with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy in December 2012 due to negligence from the pharmacist intern, who filled the wrong prescription. My complaint number at the AZ State Board of Pharmacy is 4160. The pharmacist intern gave the 6 month old patient the wrong prescription and the wrong dosage amount, which was 3x more than the actual dosage. I would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone, they don't know what they are doing. read more

Well thats it. My beloved Safeway has lost me. It's 9:15pm and the 5 people in line ahead of me means I won't get home for a pretty long time. Albertsons buying Safeway is the worst possible thing that could have happened to this once amazing store. Customer service was great, lines were never out of control and even if there was an evening rush at least they could get thru it. These new employees are slow and don't care. Tonight a kid backed up a cart for about 5 minutes to get it straight. The manager on duty walked by me 9 times and never emptied a box from his flat cart. "Three's a crowd is a joke". I have been there 10 times and heard Three's a Crowd over the intercom just to see no one open up a new register. Nobody cares! tonight for the first time ever I set my basket of groceries on the Belt next to me and I walked out. I can't believe my favorite store has come to this. I haven't seen my favorite employee Mike either. If he's gone what's the point??? I literally used to shop at Safeway every day because I am not a very smart man and don't make lists. I guess now I have to make a list and drive to Fry's because Safeway just isn't cutting it for me anymore. So sad that my only a mile away store that I used to love so much has gone to hell! read more

Although the store is clean and everything is stocked - the prices are way out of line. Example: Fudge Bars at the Safeway on N Scottsdale road were $3.89. That same box at the Safeway on N Thompson Peak Parkway were $4.89. The Safeway stores are never very busy. Blue Diamond gluten-free crackers are only $2.99 an any other grocery store, but at Safeway - they want $4.99. Suggestion to Safeway: Lower the prices to be more competitive and you would fill the store with shoppers. Supply and demand - you have a lot of supply, but your prices keep the demand very low. read more

okay...so i had birthday thing for a friend of mine today and a big gloppy chocolate cake was out of the question for this gymophile. so, i remembered the bakery selection at the safeway just across the street. i hopped on my trusty longboard (the grocery basket equipped one). scanning the cooler i found the most BEAUTIFUL fruit tart. mmmm. i feared i might let partygoers down with all that fruit...alas, i was wrong. that tart was gobbled down in less than 5 minutes. read more

I shop this Safeway every week. I buy fresh flowers for my office and often they last two weeks. Generally an excellent variety also. I have never used the deli until this week when I needed deli trays for an event. I ordered Monday AM and Picked up the trays early Wednesday AM (6:45). Consuelo was particularly kind and accommodating. She had them all packed into a cart for me to easily transport to my car. I appreciated her professionalism and kindness very much. Thank you Consuelo!!! I will certainly be back for special order trays. My only suggestion: Please consider delivering trays. read more

I have shopped here for 25 years because of the convenience of the location. Sadly this will change. I spent $30 on some Prime Filets on Saturday, only to bring them home to discover they smelled bad. When my husband tried to return them Sunday they would not take them back because there was no receipt, even tho the butcher sticker was still on the paper. So, this Safeway location now has a questionable butcher shop and no customer service. read more

At 9:08pm I walked out of the store because of the long lines and went home. Every night there is not enough people on shift. The stores under managed at night locking its one door and putting 1 worker at the cash register. This isn't Walgreens right? read more

While this location is convenient and it is generally well-stocked, they have recently taken out the self checkout machines and replaced them with regular checkout stations with cashiers. I was just in (Sunday morning around 11:00am) and a single station was open. When I asked the lady why they had taken out the self checkout machines, she told me that people had been stealing and people needed jobs. Perhaps Safeway could call Target and figure out how they made self checkout work. read more

This review is just for the Starbucks. I came in for a coffee and Nataly "helped" me. When I tried to pay using my Starbucks gift card, there was not enough to pay for my drink, so I handed her cash to make up the difference and instructed the dimwit to put the change on my card. I guess my instructions were too hard for her to comprehend. She took my $20 bill, put it in the cash drawer, then repeated that I owed $2. At this time, people were forming a line behind me and Nataly's attitude made me feel like I was a thief! I handed her $20 and there she was, telling me I owe her $2! When I repeated that she should take the $20, take $2 from it and put $18 on my card, she gave me a blank stare. As the line of people grew behind me, the other Starbucks associate (who never offered to help me or Nataly) began assisting the line of people. Because I was tied up at the register all the people behind me got free drinks (you're welcome). Finally I told her to give me my $20 and keep the drink. She told me no. After repeatedly asking for them to call a manager, they finally did. The manager immediately fixed the problem, but never apologized to me for the awful service. In fact, she was glaring at me the whole time. The employees of the Safeway Starbucks are employees of Safeway and not starbucks, however when I called Starbucks corporate, I was given a refund for my aggravation. When I contacted the Safeway General Manager, I was given a safeway gift card, which I do appreciate. I used it at another Safeway. read more

The management at this store is laughable at best. They are extremely rude to the employees and the prices are way higher than Fry's. I seen the manager Nick be completely rude to the employees on several different occasions. I feel sorry for the employees. read more

I have had the SAME medication filled at the SAME Safeway for over 2 years now. When I came to the store to have it filled at 35th/Northern, the pharmacist (Lyle) said the cost would be over $150.00 MORE than the last time!! I asked him to look at my records and see how much I have paid each time. He did this, then said, well it went up. I said "$150.00??" He then stated that the regular pharmacist was using a specific discount card for people without insurance. I asked him why he didn't. Not saying a word, he ran it again, and still came up with a cost of over $70.00 MORE than the last time! His answer to that was, "well, you had this filled LAST YEAR!" Seriously, we are talking a time frame of weeks--this is STILL the beginning of the year! I paid the amount, because I did not feel well enough to discuss this any longer. He asked if I had insurance, and I told him that it would be in effect in March. So he says "Well, keep your receipts for that" I asked if the insurance would cover a prescription from over a month ago----he said no they would not. This makes me not feel very trusting of this pharmacy anymore. I am so very disappointed because I had finally found a pharmacist who I could ask questions about my meds, my conditions, etc, and he was willing and happy to help, always remembering my name, etc. Now, they "float" him around (his name is Tuan) and I rarely see him. Not sure if I will go back to Safeway, it was kind of out of my way, but well worth it with such great service. It is difficult enough when you have to take medications, and when someone who understands them goes out of their way, like Tuan does, it makes the inconvenience worth it. Now I do not know where I will go. read more
