*** EDIT *** I upped my review. The manager called me and tried to resolve the issue, and the pharmacy ended up getting it corrected. I am still very unhappy with how I was treated in the first place, but at least they made steps to correct it. My rating isn't higher because the employees still seem so miserable any time I go in. I get better, friendly service at my local Walmart. am basing this rating mainly off of the pharmacy department, but I've had unfriendly personnel from every department in this store. I am writing this in the next day after I calmed down. I came in to the pharmacy on Tuesday, September 3rd at about 12 PM. My doctor told me to transfer my prescription from my current Pharmacy over to Safeway and use a good RX coupon, because my insurance would not cover it. The woman that I dealt with at that time seemed irritated that I was there. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe she had just had a stressful day and was tired. She wrote down my information and told me I could pick up my prescription the next day (09/05/19) after 4 PM. On Wednesday, September 4, I went in to pick up my prescription. I was not able to get there until 8 PM, after my regular pharmacy had closed. To begin with, the "gentleman" who helped me was very short with me. When I tried to explain what was happening, he looked at the computer system and said I was nowhere on file with them. Apparently the woman I had spoken with on Tuesday had done nothing to try to get my prescription transferred (and if she did try, she did not call me to tell me it didn't go through). The "gentleman" made what I viewed as a half hearted attempt to get my prescription. He took my bottle (which had one refill left) and called my pharmacy. Being 8 o'clock at night, it was closed. So he stood behind his desk several feet away from me and told me that the pharmacy was closed. I made the wrong assumption that he was going to try to help me or at least tell me to come back the next day. So I stood there and waited, probably between 3 to 5 minutes before he finally looked at me again and repeated that the pharmacy was closed. There was no offer to help, no apology that anything got mixed up. I was treated like a suspicious person that had come off the street trying to get a hold of a scheduled narcotic. This was a simple medication. The way both pharmacists treated me was appalling. I am going to school to be in the medical field. If I had treated a patient that way, at best I could hope to be reprimanded, otherwise I would most likely be let go from my externship. On the website it says that pharmacy services include transferring prescriptions. I do not understand why I was treated so badly for wanting to transfer a prescription in order to use a Good RX coupon. I will not be returning to this pharmacy. I don't expect them to fix this. But I want the staff to understand that they cannot treat people this way. Even if I was a suspicious person from off the street, I still deserve to be treated like a human being. I could not believe the way these medical professionals behaved. I admit that I did raise my voice towards the end, telling them that I had been told I could come back that day to pick up my prescriptions. Again, there was no apology, no acknowledgment. They stood behind their computers and ignored me. I will be posting this review every where. read more

Horrible Customer Service. The pharmacy staff are inconsiderate and insufficient at their jobs. They are "milk the clock" employees and really have no business working in a career meant to help people. The staff needs to work on putting their customers needs first and actually taking care of the people who keep them in business & employed. read more

This is my go to pharmacy. All of the employees are super kind and willing to answer questions as needed. I get all of mine and my son's vaccines here (for free) . The pharmacist is quick and very kind with the needle. For each vaccination you get a 10% off coupon and who doesn't need that in this economy? I have had them call my doctors office to verify things and they are always very kind to accommodate needs or follow up with me about prescriptions. read more

Giving this location 5 stars for the excellent customer service the cashier gave us this afternoon. She was super friendly but also caught a pack of moldy sliced cheese we almost purchased. But thanks to her she caught it and asked someone for a replacement before we even knew what was going on. He came back and said that was the last one so my hubby hesitated for a second thinking whether or not to run and try to grab a different brand and she calmly said we have time no worries! That was so nice of her and we are thankful during these times for a simple act like this. Thank you Safeway for great employees that make a difference. read more

Not one of the better Safeways IMO, this one is kinda wonky and laid out different then other Safeways, so kinda hard to find stuff if your not use to this store. It''s a pretty good size store, and also has a gas station in the lot, I doubt I will return to this Safeway that much as the one on Canyon Road and 176th is laid out better and is easier getting in and out of- which can also be a problem with this Safeway. The people here are very friendly though and helpful, just dont care for the layout of this store. read more

This is by far the cleanest and largest Safeway I have ever been to. It is open 24 hours and their cheese selection is to die for. I like the level of customer service I receive here, as well as the cleanliness of the parking lot, bathrooms and check stands, within the store. The deli food is hit or miss as with all grocery store delis, but the employees in this deli are on their A game most of the time, and if you should find something lacking, they are always willing to fulfill special requests or make fried food or deli items fresh if you ask. I wantonly shop at this store and I think you should too! Thank you South Hill Safeway for always exceeding my expectations about what grocery stores should be. read more

Update: dear Albertson/Safeway. thx for your reply, but no thanks to take further steps to reach out to you guys so I can help you serve me better. That should've been your employees' goal in the first place! I'm already taking the time to rate and review you all. How about you overhaul your whole company for better people? There are several unfriendly associates in every department of this store. I come to this Safeway bc I live close by. Lived in this area for 15 years will often stop shopping at this location due to the unfriendliness of the clerks. Some of the clerks just seem so miserable that they're not approachable. The seafood and bakery clerks don't seem to want to deal with people waiting to order seafood or bakery items from their case. I've stood in front of these cases on several different occasions waiting for a clerk to notice I'm needing to order from them then eventually decide that I'm done waiting and leave. I had a service deli clerk hold off on handing me my order for what reason I don't know, but he conversed with another customer while my item was bagged and sitting on his counter. There's been only one person who has gone the extra mile to greet and ask if anyone needs help finding anything. I will have to find out their name. Other than that no one else in the store greets any of the customers, and if they do it seems quite painful for them to do so. read more

The gas pumps are awful at both Safeways that I use....Meridian and on 176th and Canyon. The pump won't stay on, you have to stand outside and hold the nozzle. It's not worth the points that you earn at the store when you have to stand outside in the rain or cold holding a nozzle. When I went into the station to tell the cashier she came out and held the nozzle for me she shouldn't have to do that. My husband has said the same thing. We are tempted to start using the Nisqually station if Safeway dont fix their pumps! read more

I love close to here so I come here more then I'd like to but the majority of the tellers here are either miserable at their job or just act bothered by you being there.the customer service is horrible I wouldn't write a review if it hasn't happened multiple times read more

I am always so leary on going to Safeway pharmacy due to the lack of customer service there is ONE employee who is AMAZING her name is Andrea she goes far beyond for each and every one of her customers if it wasn't for her I would have chosen to go some place else! read more

It's not fair to employees how the store obviously understaffs them. I waited a solid couple minutes at the sandwich counter before even getting noticed. Then the other employee who showed up to help the person after me was rude to the employee helping me and I wasn't comfortable with it. His name is Adam, for what it's worth. Anyway, management could afford to get their act together a little more methinks. read more

This Safeway continues to impress me with their gluten-free food selection - both non-perishable as well as in the frozen entree section. Polite staff and most of the cashiers keep the line moving at a steady pace. read more

Service and management that's worse than Wal-Mart. Why is it a Federal case to get a bite to eat in the Northwest on a Friday evening at 8pm? I went into the deli and got a protein salad and chicken. Their register at the deli was closed, and so were the express lanes. Only 2 registers were open at 8pm and were full of customers with $180 worth of food each. One lady in front of me had 30 coupons, 2 rain checks, and enough food to feed 6 people for a week. I left my food at the refister and left. I won't come again and I suspect others in those 2 lines won't, either. Some gas stations have 2 checkers, much less a Safeway! read more

This is another one of those places that is like fast food. You make so many visits that it's either gonna be mostly good or mostly bad. As far as I'm concerned, this Safeway is mostly good. People are friendly, I find what I need and buy it. If it's not there, I go somewhere else or wait until next time. I'm not super picky or have any rare food tolerances and if I did, I would go to one of "those places". So really, no complaints here. My most recent visit involved some fried chicken and joes. Meat was a little overdone, joes were perfect. It's safeway, not ezelles, it is what it is :) read more

I went here today to find one of my favorite products: Mrs. T's frozen pierogis. Aft the a long time of looking in all the usual spots, I approached the customer service counter, only for them to release me into the care of a man named Kevin. He is essentially the reason for this 5-star review. He epitomizes everything I've come to know about good customer service. He helped me look extra thoroughly in all of the places the product should have been while being friendly and driven, but also while cheerily greeting other customers that we passed. We ended up never finding the product but Kevin's attitude and demeanor really lifted me up and made me feel like a million bucks. Awesome dude. read more

The staff at this store has always gone above and beyond for me any time. If they were out of stock of something on the shelf, which they rarely ever are they would stop what ever they are doing and hunt down what ever it is I need. Even if it's 20 cases of soda water for a party that I'm having. This store is ran by a great team of managers. read more

Let me preface this by saying, I get why returns aren't being allowed right now, but to treat people like shit is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! I also get that grocery store workers are VERY over worked right now and are being put in harms way daily, still NOT good reasons to treat people like trash! Yesterday (3/25/2020) my husband went to buy some groceries. He picked up a couple of fruit bowls for myself and our 7 year old. Last night I was going to eat some of the berry bowl (strawberries, blueberries) but the strawberries tasted moldy, so I spit it out. I opened the strawberry bowl and once again, moldy tasting. I told my family not to eat them. I sent my son (19 y/o) back to Safeway this morning to return them, where he was told they wouldn't take them back, but they guess they could exchange them (what's the difference), he called me and I said no, because they're obviously having an issue with their strawberries, I told him to ask for store credit, because we shop there, a lot. A manager looked at the berries and told him no, cause "they were fine." I promise you, they were far from fine. A shorter lady in white shirt also said to another employee in front of my son, that customers are buying everything up, realizing they don't need it, and are now trying to return it. For us, that is NOT the case and again, I get people do that, but we literally bought these moldy tasting berries last night, because we wanted some fresh fruit. We will take our business down the road to Fred Meyers. Y'all are on social media begging folks to be nice to y'all, maybe you should take your own advice. read more

My first negative comment on Safeway. Clearly states 30% off "all" wines. Safeway Puyallup on Meridian would not honor it. We first showed a Facebook ad from Safeways Facebook page (showed up on my news feeds) to a worker to make sure he said they would honor it. Then purchased 12 bottles. Only after we paid my wife noticed they only took off the 30% off certain wines. They said there was nothing they can do about it, regardless of what the employee said or the Safeway FB claims.. 30% off was only for WA wines. We would have been okay with that, we love WA wines, but wanted to try some others (Firesteed Pinot in particular). The point is the Safeway ad claim and a store employee said it was ALL wine. Not good Safeway! Not very happy. read more

This store I am impressed with and like very much. Although only having 1 experience that could have been better it improved my overall outlook about this store. This store still does its best to improve and makes me want to totally shop in that store and to this day this store earns my business. Today o spoke to Jennifer at this Pharmacy and normally she is on her job but today she was condescending rude and ignorant. Its take this place 3 weeks yo fill a prescription and they don't seem to know what they are doing . I asked to speak to her supervisor his name was jeff and he was just as condescending and rude and didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Today was my worst experience at this location. Tracy was very rude, dismissing questions, and herding people through the line like cattle. I AM A PERSON!!! I was nice and walked away, but next time...if I ever go again, I will NOT refrain from giving Tracy pointers on how should should be doing her job and what I think about her attitude and customer service. Your review helps others leI just wanted to give a comment here that there's a Safeway select brand of pizza. It was a square Sezillian style pizza that me and my family love so much! That we don't understand why they have to discontinue it. We ask to please please bring it back in to the refrigerator shelves. I usually go to the store to buy that specific pizza and end up having charts of other groceries. I would love to continue shopping in this store if you please continue to make it available for us. Checking out is TERRIBLE!!! I swear they have the SLOWEST check out people and no baggers! There are hardly any counters open and, as a result, the lines are so long! Also, don't go on a Sunday. There's no produce, twice I've been there for a few items; no cucumbers, no zucchini, very few fresh herbs and they were browning and old. Really frustrating. It's a nice store, but could be managed better. read more

I just had a horrible experience tonight here. It saddens me, because I really like this location in reference to my house. The overall clientele shopping there were rude! I know that's not safeways problem necessarily. When I got to the checkout, the girl who cashiered me out was kind of uppety and not super friendly. But the problem lays with the bagger. I won't name names, but he was very uppety as well. Had a little smirk on his face the whole time and laughed at me when I didn't want help out. I had my 5 month old daughter in the cart and he just pulls the cart away from me and starts piling groceries in (I get that's his job, my point is that I'm a new mother and he just whipped the cart on over to him and away from me-all mothers know that is a big no no) that really bothered me! Hopefully it won't always be this bad :( read more

Looks can be decieving. Never been to this store. Looked really nice and either new or remodeled. Went to use tha latrine as was grossed out by the smell old marinated urine. The floor was sticky and toilet looked neglected from not seeing any bleach. When I went to wash up, there was no papertowels so I wound up grasping for a few toilet seat covers. That's just inexcusable. Gross...makes me wonder who's making your signature sandwich or frosting your custom cake. Ewe read more

The minute i walk through the doors theres always somebody greeting me. The service was excellent. Definitely going back!!

I was told because I input my partners phone number at the register I had to show I.D. For our purchase because my partner had a case of white claw as well as a bottle of alcohol or we would receive nothing. The cashier said no one could purchase it unless I showed my I.d. She accused me, saying I bought the bottle of alcohol to the front, I told her that was not the case that was in the basket at the beginning of this 200 dollar shopping spree. I then said I'm not buying any of this I simply input our number as usual. She refused to allow my partner to pay. I then said well she can just go grab a white claw herself so everyone could see it was her grabbing it, even though your liquor is in glass and no I.d. Is checked when an employee gives it to you until after one has carried it to the registers and all throughout the store, but I digress. SUE (a terrible manager, if she is one as she claimed) then stated and rebuttals no nothing could be purchased without my I.d. My girlfriend then drives to our home to get MY I.D. even though I AM PURCHASING NOTHING. I was not present upon my partners return and SUE still wouldn't give my partner our 200.00 dollars worth of groceries that my partner was willing to pay for on our AMEX until she showed MY I.D.- a person who WAS NOT PRESENT. AGAIN MY I.D. Not the person who was paying. Sue then tried to lecture my partner assuming I was her daughter just like she assumed I was purchasing our groceries. My partner was extremely offended by this assumption! I come into this Safeway store several times a week and spend thousands of dollars-you can check our rewards. At this point I feel we were racially profiled, why can't I enter my girlfriends phone number ? I had no credit cards to pay and made it CLEAR my girlfriend was the person that was paying for everything. Can't help but feel, that because we are African American we were treated unjustly and told well I guess you will be getting nothing. Seeing the world today, and all the prejudice people of color still endure is saddening. This here was a pure example of what African Americans deal with on an everyday basis. Sue is a racist in my eyes as well as the cashier who was a part of this asinine encounter. read more

Check your receipts EVERY time you go here. Multiple mistakes made, always in their favor. I recently bought some packages of steaks and pork chops that were marked "buy one, get one free". On the way out of the store, I checked the receipt and saw that I was charged full price. I went back and showed the packages and receipt to a manager, and she said, "Oh, you are the second person today that happened to". She gave me the difference back, which amounted to nearly $30. Yesterday, I purchased a salad in the deli - checked my receipt after I got home (my bad), and saw that the deli had punched in the wrong code and my salad was labelled as a different salad which cost $1.00 more per lb. read more

They usually have everything I'm after, and it is always easy to get in and out of their parking area. The only reason I did not give them five stars, would be due to prices. With two WalMart & a Winco Foods near by, you can usually get food cheaper if you don't mind driving a mile or so away and visit other stores. If they tried to remain competitive and lowered their prices, I would give them 5 stars. read more
