I went to the Safeway Pharmacy in Albany, Sunday August 31, at 4:00pm. A pharmacy tech cut me off, and said I can't go in, because pharmacy closes at 4;00pm, but others ahead of me can go. I like Safeway Pharmacy. The staff is alway courteous and remember me. They give me friendly attention and are really good about getting my prescriptions ready before I show up. I only have one complaint, and that is they are so popular and used by my fellow community here in Albany, that the lines are long, so the wait time can exceed 30 minutes sometimes, not always though. They seem to be understaffed but it doesn't seem to affect their desire to be courteous to the customers; they are hard workers! Went to pick up my monthly refills. They did not have one in stock call a week later to get it filled because I ran out. She said the require 24 hours notice, I said can I get it sooner she said yes two hours but we really expect a 24 hour notice. Ok so why didn't I get 24 hours notice I drove there waited in line for 20 minutes to be told they did not have my medication!! Where my 24 hour notice! I was picking out avocados when someone from the produce department, Shannon I think, told me that there were ready to eat avocados next to the flower department. Unfortunately I am allergic to lilies so I can't go get them. She stopped what she was doing and went and got two nice avocados for me! Great customer service. read more

I like this Safeway, the employees are always nice. I always get asked if I'm doing okay, or found what I needed. My toddler was crying one day and one employee offered her a banana, before I could turn to thank him, he was gone. She stopped crying for the rest of our shopping. It felt nice that he took notice and helped, I shop here more often now because I feel welcomed here. read more

I've been shopping here for years. Writing overdraft checks for a little pocket cash all the time. Earlier this year I wore my Trump shirt and wrote an overdraft check. I was denied due to some nefarious excuse, which didn't make much sense. I let it slide, chalking it up to whatevs. Since then, I've been in many times, writing overdraft checks occasionally. No problem. Today, again I wore my Trump shirt, and was again denied an overdraft check. Too coincidental. When I raised my voice and let them know exactly what they were doing, they quickly honored my check. I'm thoroughly disgusted that their employees would act this way. I never discriminated against folks in an Obama shirt. Shameful! read more

I have shopped here for years, I have never had a bad experience. I work at a different store here in town (Costco) where I do most of my shopping. But when 1 gallon of milk will do better than two Safeway in Albany is my store of choice. Most of the employees are friendly as can be, I feel sorry for all the people that put bad reviews in on this store, I can't imagine what they did to have a bad experience here read more

I stood in line for 20 minutes at the deli to buy one of their sandwiches nobody helped me so I decided to buy the sushi and it tastes like an amateur put it together when you guys have such good sushi and good sandwiches pull it together read more

I really like the store as a whole. I don't get me wrong I wish they were cheaper. But you have to love $5 Fridays. The staff is always courteous and well informed. The bakery once messed up the cakes mine and the manager took care of it bye discounting the whole thing. This is the nicest thing that's ever happened though. In particular I love the pharmacy. They always know who I am and always keep up with the latest info. The selection and the entire story has just doubled with their new renovations. The deli is delicious. Really I can't name one thing I hate about the store. Kudos to you guys read more

Don't order a cake from Albany Safeway. I ordered a cake on Friday for my son's 16th birthday and was called the morning of his birthday and told that they don't have the cake that we wanted and they can't fill the order. Thanks for the heads up Safeway. I ended up calling Konditorei in Salem and they had one available and took great care of me. Seriously Safeway? Calling the morning of a birthday event and telling me something is not available is just bad business. read more

I absolutely love this Safeway and have shopped here for almost 7 years. I have always used this pharmacy and have been using it very regularly in the past year and a half since having our daughter and I would have to say I am not impressed. Inconsistent, semi-rude and argumentative. There has been one male pharmacist go above and beyond for us when I needed an inhaler and any other time he's done a consult for me he's great but overall I am thinking about finding a different place to do business. read more

I've never had a bad experience with this Safeway. I am even more impressed with their grocery pick up staff. Every time I call, they are so fast and polite. Only once was an order messed up and I called and it was corrected immediately. read more

The good points are that they have a gas savings program, and have some items/brands that Walmart or Fred Meyer doesn't. The bad points are that they are expensive, and it is so cold in there I feel like I need a jacket and a coat and gloves to even go in. Also, their pharmacy is a joke - they say they didn't get the fax or the call or whatever, then the doctor insists they did send/call, and it goes in circles. I see many doctors and two have told me specifically not to use Safeway if I can avoid it, because they have to call/fax things three or four times before Safeway "gets" it. read more

Had a craving for a maple bar so in the process I decided to by a dozen of miscellaneous donuts for my family. When I got home what should of been a joyous event turned in to a horror show. Instead of smiles there were many different faces of discuss and spitting chewed up dough in to the garbage. The donuts tasted like old grease and the maple bar tasted like cooking grease with a small hint of maple. Not sure what's going on, maybe it's a money/profit thing on safeways end. I really love Safeway. This one in Albany is pretty average, but they have a gas station and it's on the way to/from work so I stop in on a pretty regular basis. So far, I have got 3 free items from the Just 4 U thing! read more

Yes it is expensive as all hell, but the service warrants the four stars. Today I was asked by three separate people working if I had found everything I needed, and if they could help me in any way, Where else do you find that? The meat is some of the best I have had. The pharmacy is the worst. They are slow and don't care about the customer. I had to wait for 1hour for my normal monthly prescription that should have been on a auto renewal. No one was waiting and they had two pharmacists and one girl waiting on people. Why if your waiting should it take a hour. read more

My wife and I came into the Albany Safeway a few weeks ago. We were having troubles scanning the barcode with our phone trying to get the savings offered. Ricky, who was attending the self checkout line, began helping us with the problem. My phone wasn't responding well. He contacted a manager, took us to the service desk and while continuing to check on us ran back and forth to keep up with the checkout line as well. The whole process took 15 to 20 minutes but he hung in with us until it was taken care of so that we were able to receive the discount even though my phone and Just 4 U continued to give us problems. Find outdated or nearly outdated and moldy food all the time. Management doesn't seem to be on the ball. Something is not working well here with the employees. Checkout slow. Not to mention many overpriced items. Watch out for their hidden ten cent add on to gas price paid for with a debit card!! I try to avoid shopping here whenever possible. read more

The clerk was a guy I didn't catch his name but he was way cool and very patient with my indecision and we finally came up with the emoji idea. The cake was perfect!! I went it with my dad to buy some stuff. Everything was going good until we went to pay. We thought we were going to what seemed to be a friendly person. Little did we know she was supper rude to us.
