Fred Meyers just suspended a single mom of three right before the holidays, following an illness when she was behind on her bills, right when snap benefits were cut, because I gave her a coupon that I didn't want. She used it and got it trouble. And now she's getting evicted Because she was behind on bills. With three children. She was already working overtime to make ends meet on a stress fracture in her foot. These big box stores are the enemy. They don't pay a living wage so We the People have to subsidize their employees income with our tax dollars, so they can get benefits like SNAP and Medicaid. I'm a California transplant so the first time I went to Fred Meyer, I was in love. This love remains undying even after many visits. This store has everything I need/want at reasonable prices. I've gotten some great deals on some thicker jackets/sweatshirts, too - something I needed as a Southern Californian experiencing my first Oregon winter. The cashier's haven't been overly friendly but I don't mind - I don't need to be best friends with everyone I meet. Produce seems to be high quality and there's a decent selection of "crunchier" foods (tbh, I don't care about this part, but I do love the taste of oatmilk and there's a pretty big variety of oatmilk at this store). Anyway, at the very least, I'd highly recommend this store to any other Californians who have never had a chance to visit a Fred Meyer before. read more

The digital coupons have made me decide to never step foot in the Albany store again. They are purposefully vague with the signage in the store, and then when you get to the register, they will not honor the coupons for the items you selected. Today was the last straw. They had soup for $1 a can, and their signs was so vague about quantity limits, made to sound like it was a 6 transaction limit, rather than a 6 item limit in very small print. I get up to the register and am about to pay, and suddenly there is a problem. I ended up just telling them to cancel out all of the soups, and refused to play their game of "maybe he will just buy them al at regular price since he is already at checkout" Never-mind the fact that their digital coupon scheme is nothing more than them harvesting data to sell to advertisers, and that their app is a hot garbage that does not even work half the times I actually tried to use it. Fred Meyer is on the no go list from now on. There is not a single item that I need that I can't get at WinCo for at least the same price or less without playing their stupid app and digital coupon games. Also, let's not forget how the CEO raked in a cool 20,000,000 bonus while they stole employee's hazard pay during Covid. That alone is reason enough to boycott. read more

Every time I call in for my refill to be filled they give me a time to pick it up. Once that time comes I give it an extra 30 to 40 minutes to make sure its ready. I drive all the way there and it's still not ready for pick up then they look at me like I'm the problem. Get real! I have to sit there wait another 30m to 1h I called yesterday morning to ask them to put in the system for my medication to be refilled early he said 10:30. I just called they said 1:30 now. So I went out my way to call ahead of time just so I have to wait all day when I have other things to do in other places to be. I don't want to drive in circles. While packing three kids around. They have really bad attitudes and there's no team work. The Authority will sit and let their people sink at the front desk and won't help. Garbage! read more

Worst experience I have ever had in a retail store! Not only did they not resolve the issue that their negligence created they basically told us that we had no choice but to wait three weeks or drive an hour away. I will never recommend Fred Meyers in Albany Oregon for any furniture purchase. So, here is the rest of that story. My wife and I have saved up some money to buy outdoor furniture for our new house in Albany, Or. and today we noticed that Fred Meyers was having a sale of 30% off on Garden and outdoor stuff including their furniture. We saw some really nice stuff and decided that we wanted to buy it. They have little tickets with bar codes on the back with each of the displays, and there were a lot of those slips, so we knew that they must have plenty on hand. We ran home to measure our space, and it looked good. As a matter of fact, it looked so good we decided we wanted to buy an outdoor table and chairs that we saw as well. We ran back over grabbed the appropriate slips and walked to the cashier to pay. We paid at the self check out, and the woman had to do an override for the amount before we could pay. We then innocently said where do we go to pick up the furniture. THIS IS WHEN IT GETS CRAZY! The woman started to call someone on her radio and then needed to get on the phone. She looked a bit overwhelmed, so we offered to take our receipt and go over to Customer Service to get more help. We went to customer service, and the woman there got on the phone and said to the person on the other end WITH US STANDING IN FRONT OF HER "I do not know who rang them up, but they definitely should not have" This had me getting a bit concerned. Had we done something wrong? Did they think we were trying something fishy? We paid almost $2000. We had a receipt. We were met by a young lady who said she would need to check the back to see if they had any on hand. I pointed out that there were many slips on the display items to which she said "We have to put those out per corporate policy even if we do not have the item" So we waited... sitting on the chairs that we had just paid for at the table that we had just paid for... She came back out and said that they had one of the items we wanted in the back, but they were going to need to check "the Shed" to see if they had the table and chairs that we were sitting at in stock. A young man came out named AJ who told my wife that they did not have the table and chairs, and did not know "IF" they would be getting any in, and that we should have asked someone if they had stock before buying them. I pointed out again that they had all the slips with barcodes on them, no salespeople in the area (like they do in the shoe area or the electronics area), and no signs saying that the items may not be in stock or that they only displayed items to be ordered online of something..Even a sign that said Ask an Associate for assistance would have worked, but nothing. He insisted that I should have known better. My wife asked if he could call other stores.. and he did. He found one over an hour away. I just spent almost $2000 and you want me to drive another hour away to pick it up??? So I asked if we could just take the one that was there, and was told that they "NEVER sell the display" they are "not allowed to". At this point, I was getting irritated. I asked to speak with a manager. A nice young lady named Miranda came and said that "the managers all leave by 5pm as managers do, so she was going to try to help me" I understood that (a little surprised that she said that to the customer, but as a retail manager of over 25 years I understood how schedules and deligation worked). She explained that they did not have a very large storage room (Extremely large store, so how are we supposed to know how big the storage room is) so we should not have expected that they had all items in stock. I explained to her by using an example of a carton of milk. Imagine I came into the store and bought a carton of milk, and when I left I found out that the carton was empty. How did she think I would feel when I came back to ask where the milk was and the person told me that they didn't keep the actual milk in the store I had to go to the dairy an hour away to get it. ok, an extreme example, but really that is what It felt like. Long story long... Miranda was good, I pointed out that as a customer there was no indication that the items were not readily in stock and suggest a simple sign could have helped in this situation saving my time, embarrassment, and irritation. She agrees to speak to the manager about that and pass along my suggestion. At this point, AJ came over and basically called us stupid for not knowing that we should have searched for someone to check stock before buying the items. He in contrast to Miranda should not deal with upset customers because all he did was wind me up and I became irritated. Miranda stepped in and said that there was nothing they could do to fix my situation. read more

If I could give a minus stars I would! Yesterday was my Grandsons 4th birthday party. My daughter ordered 4 sandwich trays from the deli a week ago. She got an email confirmation from Fred Myers deli on Thursday. My daughter went to the store yesterday to pick up her order. When she got there she was informed that " Oh..we forgot to fill the order. Mostly because no one checked the orders for the past week." Seriously?? You sent an email confirmation!! Your deli employees and manager are the worst most unprofessional people ever. If I were your store manager you would all be fired! Or demoted to scrapping gum off the floor. First, high prices. I shop at Safeway with the knowledge that non-sale prices are high but their specials are good. Had to go to Fred's for my mother-in-law and thought... how bad can it be? Answer: awful. time and again for non-sale things that were around $4 at safeway, were 2 dollars more at Freds. The horseradish was the same price...for 1/2 as much. Bill was $202 without meat or prepared food. The kicker came when I decided to get $20 in cash and had to ok a $.50 charge. I have never, ever, ever been charged that at any grocery or drug store. Worst lines i've ever experienced at a grocery store. I come here a lot for Instacart and I end up spending 30+ minutes that I could be making money just sitting in line to check out. There are 10 lanes and i've never seen more than 4 open at once. The few lanes they do have are run by undertrained staff who take years to complete check out and need help every other item. I'm so annoyed and will avoid this Fred Meyers at ALL costs. I asked someone if they could open another lane and she said everyone's on lunch. This Albany store is very poorly laid out for safe shopping in a pandemic. Most isles are too narrow especially with all the extra product on extra display racks in the actual isles. Wednesday at noon every single isle had at least two extra display rack in the walkway some several more. There were employees restocking with large carts blocking the isles and at the same time most had a Fred Meyer delivery cart being filled. This is not a safe place to be. Before the pandemic this was annoying enough but now it is not doable. This is a legitimate complaint that I plan to share with the store and on facebook not just a spur of the moment frustration. I enjoy coming to the store it's well organized. Their meat and seafood department does a great job. Especially when you can order komoto oysters at a dollar a piece that's cheap. Bakery department does a nice job on rolls and cakes and the deli department is a fine selection of Boar's Head products. The produce department was able to fulfill a special request for Italian broccoli. Forget Safeway their prices are ridiculous. Their meat quality is select whereas Fred Meyer is choice grade. read more

So i have mixed reviews with this store. A majority of the employees are very rude, talking to customers about past employees and why they were fired and their opinions of that individual, personal matters with each other at work, singing song lyrics with curse words. There have been women cashiers older that are very rude and give overly loud annoyed sighs constantly throughout checking out , there was one young woman at the customer service counter making a social call and ignoring the customers in line, then after she was done walked off and came back 2-3 mins later to "help." They do have a good selection of products though at a reasonable price for being a major store in Albany and no walmart. There are a couple really nice employees though too, there is an older woman who is always friendly at the check out, very customer oriented towards the front of the store and friendly cashiers at the garden center cashier check stand. Their produce department is lacking, a lot of stuff is either turning or turned and left in with fresh stuff put in, so you either only buy things you're going to use that day or the next or chances are it's going to turn. It's good when you need something fast and quick but for major grocery shopping it's worth going out of town to salem or corvallis for less of a headache. read more

During this coronavirus I went into shop it was a madhouse with no social distancing nobody wearing mask but one cashier. They did have blue lines on at checkout to stand 6 feet apart but nobody was following it and nobody monitoring. A lot of employees standing around but nobody encouraging social distancing. Fred Meyer is the only place we shop. Every week I do my grocery shopping and am always treated so well. Today my husband and I (who's a cop) went to buy some Khakis. The second we stepped into the department I heard a page on the intercom "security check to department b". I recognize this from working retail all throughout college. Within moments a man was standing next to me, so close it was unbearably uncomfortable. He followed us the entire time we were there. I ALMOST said to him, "sir we aren't stealing anything we are looking for a pair of Khaki we intend to buy." So we found some, and bought them. I normally have an appreciation for loss prevention as I hate thieves but this was so blatant and so rude it really ruined our shopping experience which is normally so warm and friendly. read more

I am furious about the corporate decision to cut the #of cashiers in the Albany OR store. Today, a Sunday, there were ONLY 2 cashiers in the grocery dept. Each line had 8+ people with full carts. I was there last weekend & they had 4 cashiers with 10+ people on each line. Customers were very upset! I have shopped loyal at this store for 20+ years. I'm reviewing the deli department. I don't like to complain a lot, but I'm so mad I had to write this review. The last three times they made the sandwich wrong. This last time I asked for a whole sandwich on sourdough. They were out of sourdough, fine, it's understandable. I asked for Cheddar, and White American cheese. They didn't put White American on it. They didn't even put mustard on it. It also looked slapped together and wasn't even cut. I paid for a sandwich that didn't have half the things I asked for on it. I got a turkey and cheese sandwich with mayo instead of what I asked for. It was a very simple and basic order. They also make you write down what you want. The order is on the bag. They still messed it completely up. It also takes about fifteen minutes whenever we go in just to get two sandwiches made. I'm sorry, but I will never get a sandwich from this Fred Meyer again. I'll drive all the way to Corvallis if I want one. However, I can't complain about the rest of this Fred Meyer, everyone else is friendly and helpful. The bakery department especially. read more

Gotta say I'm impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism I find at Fred Meyer. I really love the Click List shopping they offer. I've only used it once when I was in a hurry to get errands done and it was awesome. I'm using it again today. So many people whine about an individual encounter when life is full of various forces. Poor communication, Poor customer service, Unprofessional staff This review pertains to the pharmacy: I am from out of town. I was visiting in Albany, OR for the week. I attempted to get a refill of a prescribed medication. They told me it would be 30 min because they would need to contact my pharmacy back home. After 45 min they tell me my pharmacy is not responding. I call my pharmacy to have them respond...the story goes on and on for 2 days with 5 calls and 2 personal visits. Fred Meyer never called me back to communicate. I was always initiating the conversation. Every time I called they seemed confused (did not tell each other what was going on) and frustrated that I gave them more work than their regular customers. I grew up in Albany and moved away for college, was just back visiting for Thanksgiving and went to Fred Meyer to get my watch fixed and pick up groceries. Since I left this Fred Meyer has turned itself into a phenomenal grocery/everything store - good amount of organic, strong asian section, decent selection of clothing, gardening materials - just about everything you could need. The watch repairman is also great, worked extremely quickly and didn't charge me a thing for a minor repair. Highly recommended! read more

I just went to the deli to have a sandwich made and not only was the older woman working rude and short with me, but she did not even come close to making the sandwich I asked for. The bag I filled out said I wanted a pepper turkey, Vermont cheddar sandwich on sour dough, with lettuce, tomato, avocado, pepperoncinis, and bacon. What I got was smoked ham without any avocado, pepperoncinis, or bacon. I'm just disappointed. Fred Meyers truly does provide one-stop shopping. It's similar to a Super-Walmart on Steroids. This location, like the others, delivers where it matters. You can stop in here and get everything under the sun that you need, and get out quick. It isn't the cleanest Fred Meyer shopping center or store that I have been to, but it provided what it was supposed to. read more

Well the renovations are complete (what a nightmare that was) but what exactly did they accomplish? I was there on 12/30/13 and ran into (literally - bc we're all looking for signs to try to find what we need that has now been moved to multiple other places...) Today my husband went back to get the things that I missed - can't find X but oooh look there's Y, better grab that while I see it and then X is forgotten... So he is looking for Martinelli's sparking cider for the kids to ring in the new year -- in flavors, which has been in a display by the main grocery door for as long as I can remember... He had to ask 4 employees (all of them stocking groceries mind you) where it was 4! and it's been moved to the top of a shelf on New Year's Eve!!!! To the cashier's who ask "did you find everything you're looking for?" NO! NO! and NO! I did not bc nothing seems to be near what it used to be near and the order of items makes no sense.... Let's put our produce, refrigerated and frozen things before the non perishables so they can warm up before the drive home.... I know I'll get used to the new set up eventually, but for now... Your new parking lot is nice but you haven't put up the Handi-cap van accessible WHEEL CHAIR ONLY sign, your temporary signs had that but not the new ones, with out that sign it is impossible for (my wife) or any other person in a wheelchair to park and unload with enough room to get out. It is against the law to park in these special spots with out the placard that says wheelchair user on the placard. I hope you correct this so wheelchair user can get out safely without parking in the north forty. Thank you. read more

I would be very cautious about purchasing "fresh" frozen whole crabs from Fred Meyer. We do most of our shopping there because I feel the company is trustworthy. The fresh crab we were told were delivered the day we purchased and subsequently tried to eat (same day). The product was somewhat "dirty" and had to be rinsed and had a rank odor. In our experience their frozen crab is a hit or miss proposition in that they can be frozen and refrozen and very dirty. We have been patrons of Fred Meyer for over 30 years and have now given up on taking a chance on getting reasonably edible crab. We have no other complaints as the store is generally clean, well lit and customer service is very attentive. I really don't like to give a poor review for any place that I shop but in this case it is well deserved and this product offered needs to improve!! read more

Fred Mayer has not always don't the trick for me. Its not that there staff isn't friendly or that there environment isn't welcoming. I feel that it is mostly that I feel very scattered when I walk in. Its almost that it feels unorganized and kind of messy. In addition, I never know where to go and there is never employees their to help me. Another factor that gives it 3 stars out 5 is that there quality isn't always at the top, yet there prices seem to be so high! However, Freddy's is known for there great selection of merchandise. So it is a great store if you are looking for a few random items. I would never pick Freddy's as my everyday shopping store, though. read more

My review is for the electronics department! I took my 11 year old son (who is autistic) in to pick out a new video game for his PS4! This is always a nerve wracking experience for us as it is for many families who have autistic members! The guy in the electronics must have picked up on it immediately and was so kind and helpful, directly to my son! They discussed some games and characters and he made us feel so comfortable!!
