I go to safeway frequently, and this is the worst branch. The tall manager is rude and does not know how to communicate with customers.

Super happy with and cannot compliment enough Mission Barbecue (21236 store) and their wonderful, happy and helpful employees and fantastic business model. I received a free birthday sandwich in November and a free Christmas sandwich both of which were $13 sandwiches! They are even more generous to current armed forces members and Vets so you need to sign up for their rewards program. Their employees are always smiling and provide super fast service and I especially like the roving person, in my last visit a woman, who explained the company's generosity towards Vets while she cleaned my table. Truly a happy and delicious meal in this crappy world of sad, lost customer service! read more

Any company can put an item on a shelf with a price tag, and call itself a business! My recent experience with this Safeway store had to be shared. I also have to give major kudos to those responsible : Marina,(in the deli) who took the time and effort to find out the answers and make it happen. The usual "what is there is what's available. Or, check back tomorrow." Marina made sure that the customer (me), was taken care of. (Gee, we do that?) Joan,(in the deli) a multi tasking Wonder Woman who took care of other customers, helped Marina with my request, and fried my chicken ! I do think, she thought I couldn't count. She said 2 times "Mister, there are only 2 of us here today!" I looked around at asked the guy next to me, "How many do you see? He said 2!" I shook my head, me too. Lol! Joan is incredible dealing with a lot of balls in the air. Lastly, at checkout I have no idea if I had 15 items or ???? I bought 4 toothbrushes, 4 shaving cream plus ......A young man at a empty register says "I can help you!" Magic words today. This cashier guy Aidan, was awesome. Polite and pleasant. I had done the e-coupons and he helped to see if they worked. The savings came through 100%! As I was leaving, I saw the store director Veronica up ahead and I wanted to share all this google stuff with her. She was on a call at the moment, so I do hope she sees this review. read more

Such a better grocery store than the giant near the mall! I came on a Sunday morning and it wasn't too packed and everything was spaced out well, plus I didn't have to wait to check out which was great (living in the city they never had enough cashiers, so I was pleasantly surprised in the county). One complaint is the meat section didn't have that many options. Where is the flank steak? Also they desperately need to paint the lines in the parking lot.. they're so faint that people are just guessing! read more

With the fact that she didn't greet me at the counter(clearly standing right in front of her, or when I was finished putting in my order, she was yelling "to herself" about my order! Dawn Dawn Dawn ‍ (or however you spell her name; that's how I feel with the level of disrespect I received at 8:30am). Ive worked in customer service for 12 years. A customer is more likely to buy more from a simple smile & hello. Not Oscar the grouch. I understand we are in a mist of a pandemic & the shortage of supplies is limited. So as I proceed to order. Everything we "we don't have that" or "let me see" if i have that. Your the "manager". Help me help you. What's available and go from their. If she's not a morning person, I suggest she schedule someone else or find another job with less interaction with people so early. Sorry I'm only giving her 24 hours to do a toddlers birthday cake. I love this location. Every time I go there it is never crowded and always clean. I usually can find items that are typically out of stock at my local Safeway. Today, a sales associate (I believe her name was Veronica) went above and beyond when I called customer service. It's Thanksgiving day and she put me on hold so that she can go find an item that I was requesting. Not only did she find the item but she told me where to find the item in two separate locations on a busy holiday. I thanked her for her exceptional customer service and she thanked me back and wished me a happy holiday. It's tough to find good customer service during such stressful times especially on a holiday. First off, I have really enjoyed this location over the years but customer service and staffing have really started dropping off at night. There's usually only one register open from 9pm on and the cashier tends to disappear causing the line to get out of hand. On several occasions, customers have had to go looking for the AWOL employees who seem to hide by the lottery machines. I would say this is a staffing issue but on several occasions a group of employees (usually three) huddle around said lotto areas talking. It's possible they are mostly stock employees who couldn't help out with check out but I'm not going to speculate. They need to re-evaluate their night time staffing needs. If it wasn't for the location and stock, I'd probably give them a one star review. They carry a few products that the local Weis doesn't carry. I really hope these guys get it back together. read more

Premade guacamole is awesome. And organic vegetables are pretty good too. It doesn't get crowded in here when I go which is usually later in the day or late on the weekends after I've finished working. That makes it easy to check out once I'm ready. I have stopped shopping here, despite their (sometimes slightly stale) organic selection, their Amy's frozen food, Tofutti Sour Cream, Amy's Refried Beans, and basically all the things I can't get at any other store but Whole Foods or Trader Joe's...purely on the basis of their ABSOLUTELY STINKIN' HORRIBLE customer service. I used to shop at cheaper stores but then I discovered Safeway's nice selection and started shopping there exclusively. But nearly every shopping trip I had there ended in horrible customer service, and sorry, but that did it for me. See ya later! I'm never comin' back here! Becky is particularly unfriendly. One day I was coming through her line, and said, "Hi, How are you?" She said, "DON'T ask." I said, "Oh, okay, bad day, huh?" And she said, "I SAID DON'T ASK." So the remainder of the transaction was completely wordless. I was just stunned that some little high schooler talks to customers like that. Sorry girl, you do not belong in customer service. Please go get a job cleaning toilets and do us all a favor. Becky was by far the worst, I never go through her line any more, but the others have been also pretty bad. This old lady with blue mascara who does nothing but grunts and shoves things at you....and coughs smoke breath in your face.... So I give up. We were a regular customer until today. Me and my family had a really bad experience today. There was a customer in the vegetable section who did not wear a mask, and I didn't want to shop around him with my 18 months old daughter. When I went to customer service and complain about him they didn't do anything and when I turned my back they showed me and shook their heads and laugh at me and my husband saw the whole thing! Typical grocery store with some organic stuff but the deli counter staff destroyed any chance of me ever going back, not to mention the miserable cashiers. The deli staff moves at the pace of a snail (a dead one), glancing every so often at you just to see how pissed off you are. One old guy there went on break IN THE MIDDLE OF TAKING MY ORDER. I kid you not. No I didn't do anything to deserve this, unless standing there in silence, smiling, was my crime. Mars Supermarket is real close to this one and far better in service. read more

It's a step up from the local Giant. Produce is okay, grocery selection is pretty good. Great sale prices. The deli selection is pretty meager. I went I looking for a prepared pasta salad or potato salad for a cookout. They had 5 different kinds of cole slaw, some kind of Asian chicken salad and an in identifiable breaded filet of mystery. That's it. My biggest problem with this Safeway is the fact that there are no self-checkouts and not enough cashiers. Ridiculous! read more

I generally LOVE Safeway. But this one? Makes my heart sad. It has all the makings of a fabulous store! but they just can't seem to get it together. There are never enough lines open and there are no self checkouts. There are registers at the deli, but they tell you to go to the front of the store even for a quick lunch order. Ends up not being so quick! The deli lady making my sandwich today put artichokes on my sandwich instead of avocado. She didn't know what avocado looked like. They have a 3 minute sandwich guarantee on the counter, but I was there for at least 12 minutes waiting for a piddly sandwich. I should have gone to Subway next door. Prices are higher here than other local stores. I go sometimes because of the convenience, but not my first (or second or third) choice. read more

I'm honestly surprised by the other reviews here. I've only gone once, but upon that one time I decided I would have to go more often. I'll rereview once I've had some more experience here. It is true that there were only two registers open when I went (a regular and a quick), but the lines weren't long at all, so it wasn't an issue. The quality of the meats was great, and the produce was good. I was helped by the deli counter and the seafood counter, both were quick (although the deli seemed to be out of quite a lot.) Everything else was pretty standard. I didn't think prices were bad, either, so long as you have their club card. read more

I never thought about checking Yelp for a grocery store, I probably should have before wasting my time in this Safeway store! Honesty it is barely worth the one star I gave it, customer service is terrible! I waited, on 3 occasions, at the customer service counter for over 15 minutes before being helped because for whatever reason my items sale price wasn't given to me at the register. Most of the cashiers seem grumpy and lack the basic "hello, how are you?" I also have a club card which took over 3 months for them (the store or corporate, I'm not sure) to show the right name, address, or phone number right! They always got some part of that wrong and as a result I lost points. This store also usually only has 1 MAYBE 2 registers open so a quick trip typically ends up in about 10-20 minutes in line. Their employees tend to take breaks at the most seemingly inconvenient times when the store is busy or a customer needs their assistance. Finally, their prices are extremely high! If I have a quick trip now I just go to the Walgreens down the street, might cost more but I'm in and out. As far as regular shopping I will never shop here again, my business is going to the Weis and the new Giant down the street. It would be nice to see a Wegmans or something better buy them out! read more

Don't go here. It was our first trip here today. At first we were impressed, we walked in the far left exit. It looked organized the bread looked great. Then as we walked through the rest of the store, we realized they are lacking a lot of things we normally get from Weis and some things are just a little over priced. Not bad, but not great. Then the produce section. We only needed small fruits, blueberries and strawberries. The first three packages of blueberries had blueberries growing mold and sticking to the bottom. The first package of strawberries had the same issue so we moved on. Then we noticed on a Saturday morning how not busy it was, we usually go to the Weis on Joppa for comparison, and that only two lanes were open for check out. The cashier was slow, never made eye contact, and didn't pay attention to her line at all. I ran to the bathroom while my husband waited for everything to get rung up. The women's bathroom smells like mildew and puke, you not. Then when I left my husband was paying and it was way more money than we would have spent at Weis. It was just a waste of an adventure to a new place. Don't come here, it would seem everyone else locally has already figured that out. read more

This is my first review ever, and its too complain. I waited 25 minutes in line today. There were 2 registers open and 17 people in line. I called the store number because as my wife waited in line I walked up to the customer service desk to complain. My wife finished before anyone in the store picked up the phone. Then the girl gave me an attitude. Honestly I would rather drive anywhere else then shop here. I dont expect anyone to get back to me, after I called the 1877 number. If swan song liquor wasn't in the same shopping center I would never come here again. Oh and all 17 people in line were complaining too. Nothing will be done. There are always long lines. This store is awful. I am 100% going 2 miles down the road to Giant for now on. read more

I always shop here later at night because my job requires me to work late, and I must say the employees are wonderful. While there's usually only one register open, the manager will gladly help by stopping what they're doing and opening another register. The young lady who works most nights, I can't remember her name, is one of the nicest workers I've ever dealt with at any store. I simply don't feel welcome at other stores in the area, so having the friendly employees here is a welcome change. read more
