I typically come here for flowers when I'm in town. The pre-cut fruit is expensive for the portion sizes. I purchase the cake from here and it wasn't good and not enough icing. The cake tasted like paper. There's always an armed security guard at the door no matter what time of day. And if you use self checkout there's a gate that has a receipt scanner that you need to use in order to leave. Super sketchy. read more

This location is filthy, often has expired goods, and consistently provides terrible customer service. Today was my tipping point. While picking up a few items, I noticed the broccoli was rotting. As I checked for better pieces in the back, an insect jumped on my arm and bit me, causing it to welt. I spoke with both the young man in produce and an extremely unprofessional manager with glasses. She was completely unbothered and dismissive. If you can, cross over to Alexandria or visit the new Giant. The extra effort will save you from this abhorrent store! read more

This Safeway has poor terrible customer service. I was in the flower area trying to get balloons blown up and it there was a sign that told me to go to customer service if no one is there so I went to customer service and the lady sent me back over to the balloon area and over the intercom, she calls someone to come to the balloon area to help somebody. Literally, I stood there for 20 minutes waiting for somebody. No one came went back to the customer service and the lady was like well. We can't find them right now so I was in sight and she saw me standing there and never said anything of the fact that she was not able to find out whether the person was working there and the balloon flower area. I just think that's so inconsiderate of people's time. I never did get my balloons blown up. read more

It serves its purpose. However, I wish they would bring back the Starbucks! I should have to drive to VA, Clinton and Penn Ave for Starbucks. Btw, I purposely ignored the location at Tanger Outlet for the rude ass interaction I received w/ an employee back in January. I can't give it a 5-star because there are issues. Cleanliness could be better. I've purchased things in the past that were rancid. But, guess what? Cleanliness isn't terrible and most supermarkets are subpar in this area, unfortunately, today. Getting something rancid is not okay, but I've had great luck with employees and managers exchanging items and making me whole again. And that's why I'm going to give the place 4 stars. The folks who work at this store are LOVELY. From the people in the bakery to the ones behind the seafood counter to the stockers and cashiers and managers. Is customer service a thing of the past? Corporate really needs to evaluate who they hire. This location is horribly managed, least secure , and has aging produce. The staff acts like it's too much to do their jobs. The store is always understaffed and a employee had a nerve to tell me they are going to perform a service that I willing to pay for. There are never any carts at the door and always have a person(s) loitering in front of it. PG's implementation of the bag policy has only made things worse. Check out lines are longer and people are frustrated. The grocery shopping experience shouldn't be like this. Bring back customer service. read more

No one ever answers the phone number on the pick-up sign and my App always seems to tell me I have already picked up my order or no one monitors the app check-in in the store. So you must find the number and call them directly every time. Have reported numerous times to the store and customer service line - sigh. I went to go grocery shopping mid-day. Parking lot was pretty open as people are usually working. Could not find any carts, so went inside looking for a basket since I only needed a few things. Could not find any baskets or available carts. I asked 2 different employees about carts and baskets. I was told by both employees that the only carts they have are what I see and they no longer had baskets. I took that as they didn't want my business so I went to Giant. How can you expect people to shop with nothing to put your groceries in? SMH, they may want to fix that. read more

On Sunday, April 7th, around 12:30pm, I entered the floral department and chose a bouquet of roses. The cashier, Samatha, seemed disinterested and unhelpful. When I politely asked if she could check me out at her register, she curtly replied "We can't check people out back here" Surprised by her response, I mentioned that I had checked out at her register numerous times and asked if she was unable to do it today. Despite my attempt to further communicate, she completely ignored me and instead called an armed security officer, falsely labeling me as a "hostile" customer. To bel clear she stated to the armed guard. "This customer is being hostile with me" and then proceeds to LIE about what was stated during our brief interaction! This entire interaction lasted less than 15 seconds. The fact that this cashier decided to lie and imply that I posed a threat to her safety, disregarding my character and well-being. I never raised my voice or made any aggressive movements towards her. I simply asked a question, yet she chose to escalate the situation by involving an armed security guard, which is completely unacceptable, especially in the current climate! I think it's time for Safeway corporate to take a good look at this location. Its always disorganized, unclean and cluttered. The employees uniforms look unclean and customer service is non existent. The employees treat you like you are an annoyance when you ask them a question. They don't smile (unless they are standing around talking to another employee or a vendor). None of them smile. Today's BAD ADVENTURE. I simply asked a female employee (dirty white jacket, no name tag) if she knew where the coffee creamer was in the store. Her response was "NO". I paused as I thought it might be a different day, but of course she did not disappoint my expectations, she simply turned her head and went back to putting labels on the fruit. Of course the creamer is on the opposite end of the store not where all of the cereal and breakfast items are (God forbid it be set up like most other Safeway's) I should be able to shop in Maryland where I live and not have to go to Virginia to get good customer service. Its high time they made a whole house change to this store. They should fire every employee, close, reorganize the store. There are over 240,000 unemployed people in Maryland, surely they can find people who care to staff this store. Until then I will just continue to journey to Virginia and would advise that you do the same. Good customer service is a right when I have chosen a location to spend my hard earned money. read more

This is my neighborhood Safeway that I come to here and there. Most times I come here, there are only two aisles open and the lines are super long. However I came here on a thursday around 7:00 pm and surprisingly there were no long lines and there were three aisles open. Being as though I come here quite often, I would recommend having a little time set aside if u come here. If you are in a rush, I do not recommend it. You will be standing in line for a lil bit. If you plan to use this location for a FedEx drop off. Be careful especially if you need that package to your destination right away. We used this location and it was a huge mess. They scanned the package as if the person receiving it was picking it up from them. They caused a 5 days in delay of the person receiving the package. I've never found myself being so frustrated from someone making such a mistake and no one catching it until they were called. read more

Fedex Drop-off for packages is horrible. Dropped off on a monday evening, Tues. no pickup, Wed no pickup, called store they tried to blame it on Fedex. The tracking was changed to show package ready for recipient at Oxon Hill, the same place I dropped off. They have packages disorganized and placed in the wrong areas. I asked the person at the Cust. Service desk which shelf it would be placed on, he said it would go in the correct area, even though 1 minute earlier they could not locate someones pick-up package and were looking/re-arranging each box on the FedEx Outgoing shelves. I just moved in this area so of course I'm looking for a reliable grocery store and this is the closet to me. Coming from my previous area, I always found it nice to go to a Safeway or Giant. But I was deeply disappointed coming here. There lines are ridiculous! I have never found a reason why at certain times of the day especially during the week after 5pm there is only 2 registers open, and on the weekend. Not to mention the worse part is this place doesn't have ANYTHING! The selection here, stinks! Produce is horrible. Sad...I have live in the area for 25 years. Back then this establishment was one of the only store I went to.Even while paying a tad bit more than the surrounding stores I liked how the cashiers treated me....and the fresh meat and seafood. However something has happened in the last year or two. The lines get longer...but there are less cashiers?. I have gotten to the point of passing this store by. I will miss the friendly cashiers, but I can't take standing in the incredibly longing lines. I really think the managements managers, don't respect my time, busness or longevity (in terms of patronizing this store for 25 years). If Safeway appreciates me as a customer they would do something about the extremely long lines. I don't blame the cashiers I blame the corporate headquarters who decides staffing for the stores obtw....I dont approve of self check either. This this Safeway really just disappointed me!! I had a 30 min break from my class this evening and I decided I would run across to the Safeway on Oxon hill me to buy my brother a cake and a gift card.. I get in there and grab a cake then I go over to the gift card section and there are no 50+ GC any where I don't want to pay the extra fee but I decide ok I guess I have no choice.. I get up to the counter and I'm ready to pay 78!!! Dollars for a cake two gift card would have saved myself 10 dollars of you all had more GC then she tells me I need an Id I let her know I left it in the car she doesn't budge it's ok that's my fault I left my id.. I go back to my car and get my id I wait back in line to get re-rung up and she points out the cake has mold on it.. So I just tell her it's ok I won't take none of it and wLk out.. So now I'm running late to class because I just wasted time looking for GC and you all can't even have fresh food at a grocery store!!!!! Very disappointed!!! read more
