I have lived in this area for 20 years and really like our Safeway. Great fresh foods. Love all the bakery goods. We have a great butcher, vegetables, and fruits, and deli area. The staff is so friendly. I like the advancements with having a self check out, but it's also helpful to go through the line as well. I do really really miss the chicken wing buffet. I don't like having to buy them in the bags but all in all the place is got everything I need for the neighborhood store. Great layout. read more

I've shopped at this Safeway for 25 years. I love the store and the great staff. Today, however, for the first time I was horrified. I used one of the restrooms, and was shocked. It was totally filthy. The door and the walls were streaked with black, greasy dirt. The floor had dirt. There was wadded up paper towels and TP on the floor. The hand soap dispenser was off the wall. I am really surprised. I hope someone reads this from Safeway and cleans the bathroom. read more

This is probably my 3rd time calling the pharmacy and they never ever pick up the phone. I needed to call to refill my prescription that has been pending for a while, I'm at work on my lunch so I can't just go over there and I called 4 times and all it did was ring and ring and ring and nothing! Why is it so impossible to talk someone on the phone???? I don't want to go over there and wait 30-45 min to get it refilled, I wanted to call in advanced but I guess that isn't possible. The produce selection here is pretty good. The produce is always fresh and in abundance. The aisles are nicely stocked and organized. If you sign up for rewards, you can get some good sales. You can earn rewards for free items or money off your purchases. The employees are mostly friendly. Just don't ask anyone to do something out of their daily routine. I needed help getting something off the top shelf all the way in the back and asked the closest employee I could see for help. They told me I had to go to the customer service desk for help. I was stunned and shocked. However, I definitely have my favorite cashiers. You get to know who is nice and a friendly face pretty fast. read more

I come to this one because I love the customer service I get. Especially from the liquor manager DJ. He's such a cool guy. Always has a big smile on his face and has something nice to say always. Hey, I found toilet paper here during the COVID-19 outbreak, so I'd say that's a win, right? While in the area I needed to get groceries, so decided to check out this Safeway in downtown Newcastle. It's your typical Safeway with the same layout as all the others. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon when I visited. It's located within a business strip in the heart of Newcastle, so is easy to find with plenty of parking around. I got what I needed and was pleasantly surprised to find items that they had stock of unlike the downtown Bellevue location. Lines were long because of how busy the place was; but all in all, it was a fine shopping experience for groceries. read more

I find everything I need here. The staff can be friendlier but I have not had a negative experience to give lower star reviews. I know working at a grocery store can be demanding, low pay, and also customers can be rude too so it's not always good to blame the staff working because they may be having a tough day. This store has plenty of parking, clean inside and out and I never wait too long even on busy evenings to pay and get out. I like this store better than the one on Ranier. The one on Ranier kids come in to steal and no one cares they take boxes of beer. This safeway feels safe to go as a woman in the evening and night. read more

Used to have admiration for the group who run this franchised corporation, however its completely downward 180 degrees since Covid-19 outbreak. Understanding short staffed period as companies had been laying off employees and losing revenue. But it gives me the 'no-show' attitude by ignoring any procedures to help preventing from Covid-19. No gloves provided, half of emptied sanitizers that never got refilled. Used masks abandoned in the back lot. Yet they still 'allegedly' claim the goods are under disinfection and well preserved. Seriously what a bluff. If I'm between Bellevue and my home would buy something if needed. But from now on, its no longer my to-go list for grocery shopping. read more

This store has the worst management of employees I ever seen.The cashiers have their head up their ass for starters. Many times waiting in line and the cashiers here are off talking personal business with another employee instead of the 2 of them checking us out.Go in here early in the morning and your lucky if 1 of the stockers will come check you out.....good luck with that.Can you put someone in the seafood and meat department that has a clue whats going on ,maybe hire a regular butcher cause the asians you keep sticking back there for 1 cant speak english and 2 dont have a clue what cut of meat is what.The deli is a disaster ,again must you put asians in the deli that dont have a clue what you just ordered and the 1 dingbat you do got back there ...you have to tell her 5 times what you are ordering.....I dont get it.Nobody here bags the groceries ,you can either do it your self or wait for the cashier to do it,either way if you do get a so called HELPER at your stand they are more in the way than helping.I hate having to shop here and I dont if I dont have to. read more

This Safeway at Coal Creek certainly has a lot hard working dedicated workers. Especially Steve, the store manager. He is always positive and professional and makes the store feel very inviting. He had to step in to make sure I received proper help from the floral department the other day. The floral dept staff was surprisingly bad. The gentleman there was not helpful and kept trying to make me feel bad that he was helping me while the main florist was on a break. When I asked for help, on just simply putting an arrangement into a vase he told me to buy a pre-made arrangement that was not what I wanted. I think he also tried to make me feel like he could not understand my request even though it was basic. So weird, over just a simple task. Plus, the pre made arrangements in the cooler section looked old and drying out. Totally off putting and unprofessional. That department could really thrive with better more courteous staffing. read more

I only go to this safeway because of the convenient location on the way to Renton when traveling on Coal Creek. I actually try to avoid going here because I usually feel uncomfortable shopping while getting stared at by so many Caucasian women in their track suits. Which is why I am bringing it down a star. Its not the store itself just the patrons. The products and layout of the store is no different than any other safeway, except I think they have more wine. read more

I still have my Safeway club card and needed to pick up bottles of water. When in Newcastle, it made sense to visit Safeway over the QFC located nearby. Staff weren't very welcoming after spending time looking over water selections and they were stocking next to me but not even asking if I needed any assistance. I saw major price reductions if I used my club card on certain brands which helped with my decision. The check out was pretty much drama free. At least I received a 'thank you' from the cashier when I left. read more

I've been shopping here for a little over a year. I have never had a bad experience here and I used to stop by a couple times a week. The store is always clean, their produce is ok, but I love their meat selection and the little meat counter they have has some of the best kabobs and stuffed portabello mushrooms. They're great prices and delicious! I go to this Safeway for everything I can't get at Whole Foods. I like their canned good, cereal, and already prepared selections. I find that everyone is super friendly. I am always greeted by various employees, and you never wait long in line. I often see managers on registers when needed checking out with smiles on their faces. And they promote their charities very well too. I'm always impressed with the push they give whatever cause they're backing whether it is for breast cancer awareness or MS. read more

I just learned there's likely a good reason some cashiers are not on the register during the busy time. I had to pop in before 6am and the person who was helping to stock the shelves apparently "had to" ring me up did not even acknowledge my existence. I said good morning 3 times before they begrudgingly replied. No good morning from anyone there. Zero love from the person who checked me out. I wonder if they know it is the customer that keeps the place open and people employed. Spoiler alert: they do not. Thankfully I love the after 6am crew thus the 4 stars. I came in today on March 4, 2022 at at 4:40p on to get a covid shot for my son. The pharmacist on staff was named Pi. I will preface that the store was NOT busy. No lines and no others waiting for a covid shot. We waited 15 minutes and the pharmacist didn't show up, so I went to ask how much longer. After a few minutes, she came in. She was huffy and not in a good mood. She was RUDE and unfriendly!!! I said hi and she didn't say anything. Not even a "sorry, for the wait". When we left, she didn't say thank you or bye. If someone hates that their job that much, go find another one. If she's having a bad, day, don't make me have a bad day too. I suspect she was mad that I went back to ask how much longer the wait would be. Even my son noticed and said, she's not having a good day! Customer service is part of the job. If she doesn't like dealing with customers, I'm sure there will be another person right behind her for her job. This isn't the right way to leave an impression with me or any customer!!!!!! I have been going to that store for the last 30 years (Yes, I know Steve!) and it's my first time using that pharmacy. I will not be going back!!!! read more

Don't waste your time trying to get your flu or covid vaccine here. after making an appointment online, I showed up early then waited in line for 20 minutes to check in and was directed to a room about the size of a very small bedroom. Inside two people were waiting , then another person and another. When it was finally my turn, there were seven people waiting in this small room, some without masks. If this is not a recipe for a Covid outbreak, I don know what would be. You are gathering multiple people in a small room for 20 minutes without social distance or masks. I won't even get into how screwed up your reservation system is, I'll just say I didn't get the flu shot or Covid vaccine I had requested. I lost my credit card here went in the store asked if anyone has turned it in or found it, the lady who answered me was very rude and dismissive I'm looking around while the lady just stands there, so after I'm done looking I leave and decided to call I talked to the manager she would not let me get a word in telling me " do you understand" like I'm a child so I finally hung up because I couldn't get a word in then I call back to talk to the other manager and he flat out told me there's nothing he's gonna do. I work customer survive so I know what they could of done and what they chose not to do I'm very disappointed because I spend at least 400$ a week on groceries at this Safeway very dissatisfied and I feel utterly disrespected in the way I was spoke to. read more

Well this is a step up from the sketchy Safeway down in Renton, but I'd almost rather deal with the crazies there than the employees here. They are not friendly at all. I walked in and grabbed an ad and didn't realize I was standing behind a door (I've only been here once, my bad I don't know the layout...), and instead of apologizing when the girl nailed me in the back with the door that she swung open, she looked at me like I was crazy and walked away. The employees restocking the shelves don't move so it makes it hard to shop. And if you are in their way, they kinda just work over you and don't let you look. Customers are rather snooty too, taking up the entire aisle with their carts then glaring at you when you say "excuse me" to try to get by.The only employee I encountered that was nice was the girl at the meat department who let me use a hand sanitizing wipe when I got blood on my hands from a package of hamburger that had opened up. The store is medium sized, kinda dark, but most Safeways are. Multiple registers open and the lines move quick. Prices are high, but again, it is Safeway. Seems pretty well stocked, especially on sale items. If you can't find it in an aisle check the end caps. Go online and get Just For You coupons, there are some good deals - especially when you forget you have coupons and the items are on sale and you're like "wooo more discounts!" Or maybe thats just me... Anyways. Summary: rude employees, hard to get through aisles, quick moving cashiering. read more

This review is really for the Starbucks in the Coal Creek Parkway Safeway. They are the only Starbucks I know of that still has the incredible "Dark Chocolate Mocha Frappacino". It is worlds better than the regular Mocha Frappacino. It is far and away the best coffee drink I have ever tasted. But sadly most Starbucks locations have stopped carrying it. But the employee I see there most often tells me I am the ONLY customer that orders it! It was never advertised well; I just noticed a line item for it up on the board one day at another location. Most people who would love it probably have no idea this drink exists. If you love chocolate, you owe it to yourself to get on down to this Starbucks in the Coal Creek Parkway Safeway, and ask for the "Dark Chocolate Mocha Frappacino". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. UPDATE: I went there yesterday and they told me that their mix for the dark chocolate mocha frappacino had expired and they had to throw it out! Surprisingly, this is where I get my Starbucks everyday!!! I lived in Newcastle 2 years ago and used to frequent the Starbucks located in the same parking lot and they disappointed every time! (my drink was made wrong 90% of the time). Well, my boyfriend and I moved into a house 3 mins from downtown Newcastle and tried, yet again, the Starbucks by Safeway. Fail. So I started going to the Safeway Starbucks located inside the store and the girls never fail!!! 3 of the girls that work there KNOW my complicated drink and make it RIGHT EVERY SINGLE TIME! I really appreciate the customer service they provide at this location. The only slight flaw is that they do 1 customers order at a time instead of "calling the line" and getting 2 or 3 people going at once. It can take a tad bit longer than expected, but my drink is right 99.9% of the time and I LOVE THAT! I also work in the customer service industry and know how much it means to someone that you know their order. Whether it be their food or beverage or just their name....it means a lot! Keep it up ladies and I (or my boyfriend) will see you tomorrow for my triple, 2 pump white mocha, 2" steamed nonfat espresso! read more

I am not a huge Safeway fan but this one is close to work so I stop in sometimes for Starbucks or food. The layout is the typical Safeway. It's always busy here. Yesterday I went in and the cashier didn't greet me at all. She literally just talked over me the entire time to the person running the register across from me. Awkward. Thanks for that. Just moved into town from Texas where the Safeways are called Tom Thumb. The pharmacy made it super easy to get all of my stuff transferred over and did it fairly quickly. My mom got her flu shot here and said the pharmacist was fast and friendly. We've had a couple instances where the meat has been a bit "iffy", but I'm hoping that part was just a fluke. read more

The place is great but their hot meals are horrible! Don't get me wrong most hot meals are bad but this safe way takes the cake gosh. I much rather is McDonald's over their food... the customers service is also quite horrid. You feel rushed and they became upset if you ask for any condiments.
