I'd been here before while hiking or skiing and thought it was a great place…read more Last week I discovered I had a flat as I left for home from skiing - went in to ask who they would suggest calling. The woman behind the counter scared up a couple guys who helped me and FIXED THE FLAT. OMG. I was so, so appreciative. I'd come back to the store and their parking lot because I knew if I had to wait a long time I'd be safe. I never expected this kind of care an community. The best. From here on out when I am back and forth either to or via White Pass I'll be making a point of stopping and being a customer.

Avalon and Kelly are the kind of folks that make you forget you've been eating peanut butter out of a tortilla for a week. Legit customer service. Friendly, fast, and fun without being fake. They serve up pizza that slaps. Each slice lands like a ghost from your past, hot, messy, and better than it has any right to be. And they don't stop at pizza. There's other hot food on deck too. Real meals, not just hiker hallucinations. The vibe? Immaculate. Not just "someone waved a mop near it" clean. This place actually shines. One guy in overalls, out there like a quiet legend, keeps everything looking cared for with steady, no-nonsense grace. I never caught his name, but I hope someone is writing him love songs. Respect. The perks? Free camping. Ten dollar hot showers. Laundry. Cold beer specials. When the main toilet's locked, there are 24-hour porta-potties. Because even when things get rough, they've got your back. And the prices? Totally reasonable, even for someone who's been surviving off trail mix and moral victories. If you're rolling through and don't stop here, you're cheating yourself. This place doesn't just feed you. It forgives you, hydrates you, hands you a slice, and tells you it's okay to keep going.

Overall would definitely come again - a chill, friendly shop!

I stopped by Alder Lake Market after spending the day in Mount Rainier National Park and was…read moreimpressed with the changes the new owners have made. The store was clean, organized, and well-stocked with a nice variety of snacks, drinks, fresh fruit, and camping essentials. If you're headed to Alder Lake for camping, kayaking, swimming, fishing, or a picnic, it's a convenient place to grab supplies without having to make a longer drive into town. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the store felt welcoming from the moment I walked in. There's also a coffee stand on site, which is a nice bonus before a day of exploring. One thing that really caught my attention was the kayak rentals. They're just $20 per hour or $40 for the whole day, which seemed like a great value for anyone wanting to spend time on the water. It's nice to see this store getting new life. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm visiting the area.

What a spectacular little gem located in downtown Packwood!…read more The place looked busy, so we figured it was probably worthwhile stopping in for coffee and some pastries. Intuition, and Yelp, for the Wynn! They have the standard coffee options, some great tea options, a bunch of specialty drinks, kombucha, and plenty of juices for the kiddos. They've also got wonderful, bakery items like savory scones, a ton of different cookies a delicious Chia pudding and other great pastries. We got quite the smattering and we're very impressed with everything we tried. The line was long , but moved quickly and everyone working here was very friendly. It's got a very down home mountain feel and would be a great place to meet friends on a non crazy weekend day! All in all, a perfect spot to stop on your way to or through Packwood!

We looked forward to grabbing a drink in the morning on the way to our hike as well as our post hike lattes enjoyed out on the Adirondack chairs on the front patio. One day we even ordered a couple ice-less iced lattes to enjoy the next morning since we needed to head out on trail before they opened. As for the coffee, it's a darker roast than we personally prefer but that's just a matter of personal taste. As a home espresso enthusiast, I really appreciated their execution of preparing the drinks. Everything was consistent and done well. The coffee shop itself is a very warm and welcoming decor and seems to function as an oasis for PCT hikers and Cascade bikepackers for good reason. As someone who once did a coast to coast bike ride, I would have loved places like this.

They have vodka, citrus vodka, marshmallow vodka, cotton candy vodka, fudge brownie vodka, caramel swirl latte vodka, birthday cake vodka and Par-D-Shatz spiced liquor to name just a few. They also have other stuff like candy and smokes, which puts them right at the top of the list of liquor stores in Packwood as far as I'm concerned. If you've never tried liquor from a store before, do yourself a favor and try the liquor from this one. Its top notch.

This place has been on my list to stop at for like 25 years and I finally had the chance today!…read moreIt's located on the Yakima side of Rimrock lake just before you start the hills. It's not much to look at inside or out, but has that unique charm factor - the type where the folks who work there also live there so you know they actually care about it! They've got a small selection of essentials like pop, beer, carbs, soups and some toiletries- great for grabbing a snack in the way up or down, or a toothbrush if your mouth feels gross after an early morning start on the slopes! Prices are a bit higher than at Walmart, but hey, this is truly a local business where they're taking care of a small but very palpable need for the folks around them. Worth a stop in! And make sure to look very far left when pulling out as people coming around the corner and down the hill can be going pretty quick.

And yeah, if you don't have one of those pesky Forest/Recreation Passes, this is the only place within tens of miles which sells 'em. There's no ATM here, but they take credit cards for purchase. And if you wanna party on the lake, you can get hooked up here---saw a couple grab about 6 cases of Rainier beer here. Oh, and there's also a restroom here, so if you need a poop break, you better make a pitstop here. Otherwise, the only thing I see in your future are leaves out in the bush! ;)

We went inside to order, and the bartender was super helpful in helping me choose a drink. They had two hard ciders available and he actually recommended I try a blend of the two to get the huckleberry flavor with less sweetness. I absolutely loved it! We also ordered Chips & Guacamole, which were solid. The highlight of our visit was when a deer wandered into the patio area. It really riled up the dogs and kids, but was such a cool experience otherwise. My friend later ordered some tacos, which she said were tasty, and they even had an ice cream stand on the premises. Overall, I really liked Packwood Brewing!

I've passed through this town twice in recent months, and each visit led me back here--first for a hot latte, then later for an iced one with a different flavor. Both drinks were excellent, crafted with impressive balance; I often find coffee drinks overly sweet, but here they strike a near-perfect harmony. The young barista, likely in her twenties, was warm, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable to chat with--an added bonus to the already delightful experience. Don't overlook their packaged blueberry muffin either. To my surprise, it was one of the best I've had in that category--remarkably moist, with a vibrant blueberry flavor that lingers in the best way. A stop well worth making.
