They run out of food and groceries weekly. Every time I go in to get fried chicken they are always out so you're waiting almost 30 minutes for a new batch. Bakery sometimes will have stuff, other times don't. Asked someone if there was anymore bread bowls and the answer was, "No, didn't get that done today". I am not happy with whis this store. Bakery items like fresh baked cookies, baguettes or any kind of store baked breads are nowhere to be found. Shelves empty or mislabeled. Many items are not stocked. Empty shelves are everywhere. I shop here because it is close to my home. This store was good in general when it first opened 22 years ago; all down hill from there. The pharmacy in particular is a problem: for the last 4 months or so, I've seemed to run out of my meds before I should, so it's always a hassle to get refills (they don't want to fill it yet; after an argument they fill it grudgingly then call me to say it's ready; I go to pick it up and guess what? NOT READY). I picked it up yesterday and just out of curiosity I counted the pills that were in the bottle that said quantity 30. THERE WERE 29 PILLS. They've been shorting me for months. I just got off the phone with the pharmacist, who doesn't care. Will call Nicholson's tomorrow to transfer all (since Copes is gone ... more's the pity). read more

We love doing our regular shopping here and the workers are super friendly. I've had Safeway's bakery do a couple cakes for me in the past and they were outstanding. They'll work with you on any vision you have by giving them an image of what you're thinking. All of them come out better than the original!!! I asked for a solar system cake by giving a pic of an example and this was way better! Plus, since it was our son's 1st birthday it came with a free smash cake. I can't forget the floral department!!!! This was the first time working with their florist for an event and she simply out did any expectations I had. We worked on a dollar amount ($25), the number of bouquets which included the vase, and our theme which all were beautifully done in a manageable budget. This photo does not do the flowers justice! The rose had white, blue and purple and some of the baby breaths were silver for a galaxy themed. The florist was amazing to work with by calling the day prior to make sure everything was good to go and she was flexible with me when I asked to add 2 additional bouquets in the last minute. I cannot express how grateful I am for going with Safeway's bakery and floral department! They are amazing artist in their profession. I fully recommend going with them! Having acute back pain and had a rx for muscle spasms sent there. I get there to pick up my prescription and I'm told "we received no prescription for you". I called my doctors office and they say "we sent it two hours ago and got confirmation". Safeway pharmacy never check their inbox even when I was there. When I called and ask for an explanation I got hung up on. Evidently telling someone that you have the confirmation in your hand and that you can bring it and show it to them, they see that as attacking. Too bad Copes went out of business. I'll be using Costco going forward. read more

I bought a $14 cheese tray (marked way up!) from Shaw Road Safeway. When I got home and opened it the same night I found out it was moldy. I took it to Orting Safeway to return it and get a refund and they initially told me that because Orting is a small store and don't sell all the products as the other stores they couldn't do the refund. I was livid. The cheese tray had been expired by 10 DAYS! Eventually they did the refund. I have to say that increasingly I'm getting more and more spoiled groceries from Safeway. From veggies to half n half to fruit. They're not bothering to check their food, and groceries aren't cheap. So I expect them to stand behind everything they sell. If it's bad they should take it back, period! Even though you're convenient, I'll now make it a point to drive to Sumner Fred Meyer to do my major grocery shopping where I've never had to return anything and I know that if I did, I can take it to any store that's close by. read more

I go here for convenience as I live in Orting. It's an older store, not much for selection, cleanliness and often crowded but oh well. Most of the checkers are really sweet people. Today I went in to get lottery tickets. I pick my numbers. I get in line and a very loud, large, rude man comes up next to me yelling at the employee to get him cigarettes real quick. Neither one even acknowledges me. The employee serves him before me. So now it's my turn and I asked the employee if he even knew I was next. He said "yes, but he was rude." I said "so you reward rudeness? You could have at least said something or acknowledged me." He then proceeds to go into a rant about 3 people, same time - drama, drama, blah, blah rant. So I said "sounds like you are an asshole too." He then gives me back my lottery numbers and money, refuses me service. I asked for the manager and he said "I am the manager." Nice manager you got there. No acknowledgement, no apology, can't control his emotions. Greener, cleaner pastures for me. read more

Awful service in the deli. I went in here 8/6/2021 around 9am. The lady working behind the counter did not greet me at all . So I said hello to her, which she barely responded back. Then I order a breakfast burrito. There was no one else there. But It took her about 10mins to make. She was so unfriendly. This grocery store is the absolute worst. Not only is it the only grocery store in Orting but have said that you would think they would have more cashiers on hand. It's always long lines, weekends are impossible and some of the cashiers are so rude. I feel like they are short staffed in every department or they don't carry a lot of items either. Don't get me started on the pharmacy which is absolutely slow and the line can extend into the grocery isle. Something has got to give and another store needs to be put in! read more

There are a couple of really awesome people who work at this location, but there are also a handful of pretty crap people who have worked there all of the 6+ years that I have lived in Orting, including the bagger that literally yanks your cart out of your hands, stating "I need this" so that she can drop your bags in. She once yanked it while my nine-month-old child was seated in the cart and I about lost myself right there. An employee also once laughed at my wife when she asked where she could find the nutritional yeast and they answered "uh, at a health food store", when according to Safeway's website, they not only sell it but had it in stock at our store and my wife simply couldn't remember which aisle it was in. When we relayed that to the employee, her only response was, "well, I've never seen it", instead of you know, looking it up. Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere else to go in this town for groceries, so that's how they get you, no other choice unless you want to head up to Puyallup. Their produce is pretty horrid; you buy strawberries, blueberries, and shredded lettuce on Monday, the berries have mold come Tuesday evening and that lettuce has browned on Wednesday, even though the tag says their good for ten more days. And then there's the meat... these people can't wrap for crap. EVERY time we buy steak or ground beef, it leaks like crazy, which tells me that there's also quite a bit of oxygen making its way to the meat. So if you want your food to actually remain fresh, go shopping 4 days a week at this store. If you like your food to be of quality, I recommend Fred Meyer at 176th and Meridian in Puyallup. Heck, even WinCo in Sumner beats the heck out of this Safeway. read more

Yeah I don't even know how you miss AN ENTIRE ASS BUG IN THE FRIED RICE. This is a June Bug, fully cooked. Is there no quality control?? Do you not see A LARGE DARK SPECK while you're cooking? Like this little guy got seasoned and cooked on all four sides; he went from production to grill, then display out to consumption with not a problem. It is so large and dark, clearly it was a bug NOT an ingredient that was added. I don't know how anyone just *overlooked* a big ass bug. It's obvious their store is filthy and they don't care about what is in the food they sell to customers. When I called they offered a refund "ew, umm you want a refund?" and didn't even seem surprised or concerned in the slightest about their product being completely disgusting and unacceptable. As a person in customer service and production you should go out of the way to reassure customers It'd be looked into and we would remove current product right away. read more

I only visit this Safeway occasionally. I work in the area, but live in Tacoma, a this is my least favorite Safeway I've ever been to. No one seems to be happy about working there. They aren't the friendliest Safeway employees I've encountered. BUT they are the SLOWEST!!!!! This store is almost always empty, yet it takes forever to check out. If you're in a hurry go elsewhere. Their sandwich station takes forever too! I waited 15 minutes once, and there was only one person in front of me, who looked like they had been there a while too. As a side note the sandwich was gross too. Way too much mustard, even after I said light mustard. The bread was soggy. Like I said, worst Safeway I've been to. read more

Pharmacy is horrible. I live in town and I can't tell you how many times something we supposed to be ready and wasn't. Always a long line during peak hours and only one person on a register. An attitude is pretty typical from the cashier and they move in slow motion regardless of how many people are in line. Avoid if you have kids with you, trust me! read more

This safeway is hit or miss. Being the only grocery store in town it gets pretty busy and i feel they need to have more cashiers, especially in the afternoon/evening. The cashiers they do have are always friendly and helpful. The pharmacy is horrible, very long waits and awful customer service. The deli is great and we go there occasionally to grab lunch. I think we frequent starbucks the most and have always have a great experience there. The baristas are always friendly and make sure to strike up a short conversation with all of their customers. Overall this is not my favorite store but it is close by and convenient. read more

Safeway has placed all the responsibility on to the customer regarding their sandwich program you have to download their app off of their,(always down),web site and keep track of your own purchases. Before you just bought a sandwich and it popped up on any register boom next one free. Their "about you" is really "about them" the explanation was basically well your lucky we still have the program at all. Safeway created the program if it's no good or a leading loser then scrap it altogether but don't make it so difficult for the customer that you give up due to frustration read more

This store has HORRIBLE customer service. They act like it is an inconvenience to have customers in the store. Their deli is very slow to fill orders and has terrible food. It is worth the drive to Puyallup to buy anything you need. You will end up saving time not having to wait through their long lines and you won't have to deal with horrible attitudes because you happen to be in their store trying to make a purchase. read more

All safeways are the same really. Generally speaking you can't deny it. Like most chains they all act basically the same and this place isn't much different. Another thing that isn't different is that there always seems to be one checker who never talks much, doesn't seem to be very pleasant and just want you out of their line. I visit this location and the graham location pretty often and there is one lady at both stores that just don't have that spark. Other than that, I never really have any problems finding food and buying it. I really wish they would move to the self checkout system other stores are using so I could avoid un-talkative ladies, not take out my headphones and be even more of an un-talkative person myself :) read more

I have never come to this location and had a quick checkout even if I had to grab one item. I shop at Fred Meyer 95% of the time even tho this grocery store is right down the street. Can I give ZERO star rating?! Better yet! a negative star rating!!? First off every visit is perplexing no one seems to know where anything is located in that store, not one employee! Then you find out it's not in that store, they don't carry it. AND they don't care if you want them to! Today the bathrooms were disgustingly filthy with no paper products whatsoever!! drip dry?! So in the doorway marked employees only I spotted a young gentleman and approached him with that concern. He informed me it wasn't his issue because he wasn't clocked on to his job yet. So I found a lovely young lady who said that the manager was busy cashiering but she would be happy to help me. For my troubles I got some paper towels to wipe my hands on. I wipe my hands took the last few back to the bathroom where another Elder person has washed her hands and has nothing to dry them on... In Burgess a very rude woman who did not seem real happy that she had to put paper towels in the bathroom it was like being snarled at by a troll. I made my way through the grocery store Gathering a small handful of items when I found myself at the meat department, waiting and waiting at the meat counter while to employees stocked and did not pay not one bit of attention to any customers who were waiting... Lo and behold the same troll was put upon when I asked if I could have two pounds of roast cut for me. She literally walked over to the meat section where I had just browse through and did not find what I wanted and she forced upon me a lousy looking roast that was wrapped up I told her I didn't want that one that I wanted the same deal on the meat that was in the meat counter," two pounds please."after she threw the roast around literally she huffed and puffed and snarled at me I wished her a good evening and thank her very much told her how much I appreciated all her hard work and efforts. She finally pulled some manners out of her "self" and was polite, finally. I was relieved that I found some decent customer service friendly and polite and efficient in the cashier when I finally left the store I realize that I had had five encounters with for employees and only one encounter was pleasant. Orting needs some competition in this town because Safeway does not go out of their way to make life of fordable or shopping enjoyable I think they need to go and take their employees with them especially if they're not employees from. I have been using this store for the last 6 months. Most of the pharmacy personnel give the impression the customers are there for them and not them being there for the customers. It's their "I could care less" attitude and rudeness causing me to drive 5 miles to Sumner Fred Meyer pharmacy rather than the 1 mile to Orting. I will only use the Orting Safeway when I need something in a hurry. I would much rather support my local community, but I will not be a part of any mediocre business. read more
