What a spectacular little gem located in downtown Packwood! The place looked busy, so we figured it was probably worthwhile stopping in for coffee and some pastries. Intuition, and Yelp, for the Wynn! They have the standard coffee options, some great tea options, a bunch of specialty drinks, kombucha, and plenty of juices for the kiddos. They've also got wonderful, bakery items like savory scones, a ton of different cookies a delicious Chia pudding and other great pastries. We got quite the smattering and we're very impressed with everything we tried. The line was long , but moved quickly and everyone working here was very friendly. Became a regular for a handful of days during our time visiting Packwood and Mount Rainier National Park. Incredible little place with exceptionally friendly service. We looked forward to grabbing a drink in the morning on the way to our hike as well as our post hike lattes enjoyed out on the Adirondack chairs on the front patio. One day we even ordered a couple ice-less iced lattes to enjoy the next morning since we needed to head out on trail before they opened. As for the coffee, it's a darker roast than we personally prefer but that's just a matter of personal taste. As a home espresso enthusiast, I really appreciated their execution of preparing the drinks. Everything was consistent and done well. The coffee shop itself is a very warm and welcoming decor and seems to function as an oasis for PCT hikers and Cascade bikepackers for good reason. This is a nice little coffee shop to stop for some caffeine after hiking. The coffee wasn't mind blowing, but it was really solid and hit the spot perfectly well. The pastries were also great! I tried a double chocolate cookie that was very yummy. I appreciated how friendly the staff was. They were super welcoming and just made very nice conversation. Mountain Goat Coffee was so cute! We visited twice during our stay in Packwood. First off, I loved their branding and charming interior, especially the little toadstool table/chairs for kids. They were pretty busy both times, but service was friendly and efficient. I ordered the Blackberry Cobbler Cold Brew, which was delightful. They didn't have many non-pork breakfast options, so I tried the Blueberry Chia Cup. I'm just not the biggest fan of chia, so this wasn't my favorite. However, my friend said her breakfast burrito was solid. We returned later in our trip, and I got a Ginger Molasses Cookie. This was delicious! Ambiance: Cute little cafe! It's not too far from the Mt. Rainier entrance. There's ample seating inside and outside. It can get pretty packed though since it's the only dine-in cafe in town. There is quite a lot of cute merch in the back & stickers at the front counter. Service: Service was okay. Our orders did come out quick, but if it's packed it'll take a lil while. Food: I came 3 different days and ordered 3 lattes each day (Carmel, marshmallow, and hazelnut). I believe their hot lattes taste a lot better than ordering an iced one. I've had better lattes but this is the closest cafe in the area. Espresso was decent. As for their pastries, their salted double chocolate chip cookies are DELICIOUS! Highly recommend! Ordered breakfast and coffee before our hike at Mt Rainier NP. I loved their bakery! The breakfast scone was so moist and huge, a little bit salty and the green onion smelled so good. The blueberry muffin was not too sweet, and also moist and soft, easily finished all of them. Egg bites were also good too, we can taste that they were all freshly made. First place we stopped at once arriving to Packwood. Very clean! Nice employees. I think one of them was the owner. The scones were really good. I didn't see them on the menu but there was a gentleman in the back making a mountain of what appeared to be breakfast burritos that looked so tasty but I didn't see them advertised anywhere. I didn't ask because we decided to continue exploring. But in my experience breakfast burritos or a popular commodity especially at a coffee shop. Maybe it's a secret menu item... I was staying in Packwood for a couple of days and walked over to Mountain Goat Coffee from my hotel. It is a charming little coffeeshop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Mountain Goat also has a small gift store to the side with a number of local products for sale. I just needed something quick for the road and grabbed a breakfast scone and a latte. The Mountain Goat is a total gem tucked away in the cute little mountain town of Packwood. I went both days I happened to be staying just outside of town. On day one, I got a lavender oat latte, and the next day I tried their local ginger chai over ice, and oh my god, it was unreal. Possibly one of the best chais I've ever had (and I've tried a lot). Was excited to get a matcha in hopes it was high quality and I even asked a worker if they use ceremonial grade matcha beforehand because as someone who likes matcha over coffee I like higher quality matcha powder over cheap. And she said it was ceremonial but it definitely wasn't, the matcha was gritty/ sandy on the tongue but as expected for cheap matcha powder. I just wish she knew it wasn't higher grade and I would've not gotten a drink. But the customer service is nice! And a cute cafe inside for the area. The two gals that were working the front on 12/23 were so so kind. We were instantly greeted upon arrival and once we were ordering, they were so patient with us, especially since my brother is autistic but we try to let him maintain some independence like ordering. We got a water, 2 redbull Italian sodas and 3 breakfast scones (those scones are the s***!! They are so yummy!!) for about $30. I was so shocked with the price and how reasonable it was since this is such a small town! Believe it or not but for 10 days that we stayed in Packwood we never missed this place not even a single day! So the staffs working here became our friends and every day they always greeted us and are happy to serve us. Though some aren't friendly but so far all went pretty well and smooth. When we are in need of coffee and tea, MCG can surely helped you with that - cold or hot. Their pastries ate pretty tasty too. Great coffee, the bags of any of their fresh roasted beans are my favorite and I grab some every time we visit. I enjoy the coffee more at home than the drinks I have ordered at the counter. The staff will tell you that they go VERY light on any flavoring you add to a drink, so be mindful of that when asking for a "vanilla latte" or something similar. Ask for extra! The staff could also work on being more polite to customers. I am sure they get a lot of out of town people that can be hard to deal with, but several times while waiting in line at my recent visit I saw the staff be overly rude to people for what seemed to be no reason at all. If you are not good with smiling and answering customers questions, you should step away from the counter. read more

My friends and I stayed in Packwood during our weekend travels out in Mt. Rainier. Mountain Goat Coffee was by far one of the best coffee/breakfast places we checked out in this small town. Plenty of freshly baked goods that were delicious. We tried everything from their breakfast scones, pinwheels and cookies. To this day I don't think I've ever had better cookies. Mountain Goat Coffee's cookies are amazingly good. I loved watching the employees baking in the back it was so heartwarming to watch. For 4 days my husband walked to their shop and got me 4-shot latte made with half & half - called by hipsters/snobs Caffè breve (is an espresso-based drink that's made like a cappuccino, but with steamed half-and-half instead of milk). As a side note Americans make everything snob like coffee or wine. I grew up in Buenos Aires drinking cafecitos all My life (espresso) and we are talking 1957 and up, no special names. We also produce and drink most of our wines and our motto is "if you like it have it with any food".
