Wraps around paper products like paper towels, toilet paper, diapers and cereal bags. I placed a curbside order for pick up for my elderly mother. I sent my notification I was at the store but went inside the store to buy a few things for myself. My notification said I was inside the store. Maria the in store shopper walked past me and said "this is a waste of time" I noticed she was talking about my order. So I confronted her and asked did you say my order was a waste of time? She was shocked because I heard her. This is a service Safeway offers. I'm choosing to spend my money at your store location versus Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Lucky, WM even Target. This customer service is unacceptable. read more

8/17/24 It's a convenient supermarket in Napa that's open 24 HOURS. I was looking for a Vons or a Ralphs but this store happened to be the closest. Needed some snacks. The aisles are labeled suitably and everything is where one would expect it to be. That's a huge plus. Mostly they are well stocked. I only visited the cheese area, ice cream, snacks ( cookies & chips, then the fresh produce. Prices are medium to medium high range. For instance, white peaches sell for $3.99/lb. Mangoes (large) were on sale for 10/$10. The ones from Super King were much larger that were 0.79 each. Couldn't resist so I got Chili Cheese Fritos and to balance it out, got fuji spples andcsome mangoes. I was tempted to get Haagen Dazs but thought otherwise. Why the 3 stars? Customer service was less than stellar. I was at the check stand when they changed cashiers, no greeting, she was muttering to herself. When I asked if she can enter the number of my membership card she said she's not allowed to do it. Then later on realized I was not asking to enter my payment card. In shirt she was not paying attention. After zi paid, she just quickly left, Like, wham, bam no thank you ma'am. Not the friendliest or attentive staff. If you are ordering flowers for delivery, do not use Safeway floral. My daughter sent me a gift for Mother's Day and the delivery person left it outside the gate. It was stolen. Safeway refuses to accept any responsibility, saying that it is the delivery service. I was told that the delivery person is allowed to leave it at the gate; I told Safeway those were unacceptable instructions and they should always have human contact to either deliver or come back another day. They were absolutely adamant that it was none of their responsibility. I have had flowers delivered from other florists in Napa that never left anything outside my gate. There are plenty of other florists to choose from who have much better customer service. read more

I have shopped at this store many times because it is close to home. This morning, I ran in for 4 items. One of the items was from the liquor department, so I needed to be rung up at a register. There was only one register open, which is usually the case in the morning. The folks in front of me had a big cart load, and suggested I go ahead of them which was very kind. The lady in front of me had a large cart load as well, and was disputing the price of an item. The cashier (I don't know her name; tall, glasses, dark hair) Was having a long conversation with the customer and herself. I have never seen anyone so inept. She left the register, banged on the customer service door to no avail (they are not open this early) tried a walkie talkie, went running down aisles looking for assistance from someone else that did not exist. She gave up, and came back to the register. She proceeded to have a long chat with the woman disputing a price while we all waited behind her. Another associate (who usually oversees self check) finally came to help looking angry to be taken away from whatever she had been doing in the aisles. She proceeded to have the same long drawn out conversation with the woman disputing a price. By this time, a line had formed behind all of us. The woman who came to help never bothered to help any of the customers waiting in line, although she could have easily opened another register. She did a price adjustment and walked away. The cashier then asked the customer if she wanted to go over her transaction line by line. I hit my breaking point, set my 4 items on the counter next to us and left. I found everything I needed at Nob Hill a few blocks further down on Trancas St. They know my name there, and greeted me with a friendly hello when I arrived. It will be a very long time before I give this Safeway another penny. TERRIBLE SERVICE ! They need to clean house and employ some competent people. Be careful; they also play games with prices. Ive tried giving this place chances. Every time i come here i NEVER get acknowledged. No hello. Nothing. No one willing to help. You're completely on your own. And if you interact the EMPLOYEES are downright RUDE. And bothered you interupted them. Male cashier with glasses today on one of 2 registers open was a total mess and not pleasant. I grabbed what i needed and the environment was downright unpleasant. I couldnt wait to leave. Some lady and her daughter "forgot" toilet paper which looked like for a doordash red card order and had a bagger girl go grab it. We were all stuck waiting there awkward silence no apologies or well be right with you nothing. The cashier got on his earpiece radio and waw talking to someone. I gave up and went to the self checkout. The older gal employee working the area was a real hot mess. All the self checkout stations were flithy. Almost out of bags. While she was shooting the breeze with another safeway employee and the starbucks person. Being really loud and annoying about her personal business on tiktok. And how her coworker doesnt have one HE SHOULD watch HERRR TIK TOK. Then she coughed sneezed hard twice into her armpit no mask on. GROSSSSSS. I hope management watches the cameras. This Safeway has to be the rudest Safeway I have ever been in. Trying to order a sandwich is like pulling teeth. The lady seen me standing there for 10 min and didn't say a word and finally when she asked what can I get you i told her a sandwich that was on the menu. She refused to follow her ingredients and told me just tell me what you want on it. After telling her 2 ingredients she just started to follow the menu. Lol. She tried to put uncooked bacon on the sandwich and then got frustrated when I asked if she can cook the bacon. When she was done she tossed my sandwich on the top of the glass I said thanks and she said yup. Now while checking out I watched the cashier get frustrated with a elderly lady because she was talking to long to load her groceries, instead of helping her he watched her rolled his eyes and died. I was camping nearby. We thought we could stop by and get the chicken meal for 14.99 . They were out of the side items. But besides that it was the cashier Tom was his name. I wish I could say he was a delight. But he wasn't. He was rude to me and my friend. Now my friend and I are 2 women who look more masculine . Im Not sure if this was the reason he treated us so poorly. But at the end of it all we had to get a refund because Tom didn't ring up the meal correctly. And you can save more money by getting your stuff here compared to the other stores around the corner. What colors are very vivid and the selection is great as well. A pretty decent grocery store in Napa. In a relatively ok shopping center but it was sad when we went on a Saturday evening to grab some snacks, fruits, desserts, and quick deli dinners after a fun day by the ocean that there was a homeless guy right outside at the next establishment. Even Napa (especially Napa?). Anyways, the store itself is typical like any other Safeway. Pretty well laid out, but some things not as logically placed as in the canned tomatoes are with the dry pasta and not anywhere close to the rest of canned veggies. And the aisles are very long so you could be looking for things in what you think are logical locations and not find them for quite a while until you checked out the whole aisle if you happen to start on the opposite end. So don't give up and keep going if you have a hunch that something is in an aisle and it's not already listed on the signs overhead. Anyhow, grocery shopping is already generally super stressful and tense during COVID b/c everyone thinks everyone else is potentially a virus carrier and therefore look at each other with distrust or don't make eye contact at all over their masks. It's not like we can see people smile, after all, to see if they're expressing good will and feel mutually non-threatened. So I just do my grocery shopping as quickly as possible and then go through self check-out. Thankfully, all the staff were friendly and helpful when I did have to ask a question at the seafood counter. And all the shoppers were courteous if suspicious of each other, haha... Finally, the store is pretty well-kept and quite clean although this store does NOT provide sanitized carts, it's a DIY operation where they have wipes and you clean your own cart/basket before you start. I'm hygienic but not overly afraid of a virus that's really only deadly to the same degree as the flu to the populations of people that are vulnerable and elderly which are unfortunately also the populations that really have to self-quarantine or take extra precaution EVERY cold/flu season, so then there's that. I don't recall cleaning my basket nor the cart we found as we got more than we expected. Keep a good diet, boost up your immunity, wash your hands, get good sleep, minimize indoor times (to include grocery stores) and maximize outdoor activities and we're good. Shopping in a grocery store is not necessarily anything to get excited about. Shopping in a grocery store while out of town for a few needed items, and it gave me pause to think about how stores truly vary from place to place. One would think that a grocery store Napa would if nothing more at least be a pleasant experience. This particular Safeway location was less than pleasant. I understand windows etc. being boarded up because of the pandemic and potential looting. I know that makes it difficult for the employees as well. The store was a horrible mess. Not because it had been looted, because it had not. The store was just dirty, unkept, and staff was pretty much lingering around talking to one another. No one was bothering to gather shopping carts that were all over, or anything else. The produce section looked like it hadn't been replenished for a while and what was there, did not appear to be fresh by any means. I suppose if you're in the area and you need to stop by for some dry goods or something, you might luck out. There definitely are plenty of other grocery stores in around the valley that are much better choices than this location. read more

For the price of $80 and with some attitude from the young lady at floral you can get your floral arrangement done very crappy. Pre ordered for Mother's Day a month in advance and come to find out they not only did they forget 12 dozen roses but also did not make it right the second time. I not only had to wait another almost 30 minutes to have it made right but as you can see this is what was handed to me the second time. Seems like the florist was not happy about making it right. After that I had to drive back to Safeway 15 minutes from my house in order to be taken care of once again but still wasn't done right such a big inconvenience. If you need to buy any flowers try the street Vendors such better bouquets and way better customer service and a bigger variety. I was very unsatisfied repurchasing from them. Seems to me that they were more worried about the bouquets that are on display rather than the preordered ones, by the 2 stars this store holds I guess they are more worried about money than customer service. Man, Safeway used to be my favorite store and now, I will not be supporting their store at all. I went there tonight to take advantage of the savings so I didn't have to go out on the 3rd or 4th of July... I'm tired, and have been working lots of hours so of course, I go around 10:45 this evening when I have some time And to take out my mother who has Parkinson's. Anywho, the store has not looked it's best in a very long time and the associates have been anyone they can get. You can tell the quality of some employees and it's awful... I was standing in line, I took advantage of the buy 2 sodas and 3 free for the holiday... I also purchased 3 packs of Waterloo... the cashier needed help so she called another associate by the name of Jose. He was rude from the time he got to the register, seemed very bothered and annoyed. Then he goes to tell me, "you're limited to 5" it's late and I didn't see that or read that in the fine print and I was getting the 5 for my household and 5 for my mothers house hold. He told me I could only buy 5 so I said well okay I can tell my brother to come in and purchase the other 5 for me. Well, I'm at the register and he said it was 88 dollars for the total, I said no that is incorrect because a it's buy 2 get 3 free and the waterloos were 4.99 each. I said that's not accurate and he got a little mad... I said I can do math and mind you it's late and I'm still at the store trying to check out... well, good ol' jose has to do It correctly and he has the like growing, and I'm Just sitting there looking at the screen and I said "well no it's still not correct and he finally said "shut up.. just shut up.. shut the fuck up" I looked at him and I was like I beg your pardon! Did he really just say that in front of all these people, and I was like no Jose, I don't have to and I'm Not going to stfu especially if you aren't ringing me up correctly! So then he re rang it, was basically throwing the chips around and then told me the new price, so I said mmmkay... and I went to hand him a 100 dollar bill.. well, he snatched it out of my hand and when he went to hand me my change, he threw it on the ground and told me to pick it up...... I was appalled. So then I said no You're going to pick it up and hand it to me Correctly and he didn't. Appalling and just straight the worst experience. The night head clerk picked up my change, rang me up for the additional sodas and apologized ... the liquor manager named Nicole who was amazing told me this wasn't the first complaint about jose and because I was scared of retaliation and for Jose being very intimidating and verbally abusive, Nicole walked me to my car, helped me Load In and delivered amazing customer service. This store has gone down hill.. they hire anyone... and you can tell... I don't think I'll be spending my money here anytime soon.... Safeway needs to clean up its store because it constantly looks like hell and looks empty and their employees that they choose are awful with customer service and seem not to care about their jobs. read more

Epic fail! I went in to grab a few usual items we needed and happened to see they had a great sale on our favorite paper towels. So went to grab a package and they were out of the sale item. So went to customer service after I asked my checker if they could see if they had more of the item I was looking for in the back. Without asking anyone or making an effort the checker said no we must be out. So I inquired about getting a rain check and was sent over to customer service and because the sale ran another day the gal at customer service said we can only issue a rain check on the last day of the sale. Meaning the following day and I was told I must return to the store the following day. I explained I had no intention of returning to the store the following day to get a rain check and she replied well that's company policy and sorry. So I was unable to purchase the paper towels at the sale price or receive a rain check....Well HELLO SAFEWAY ... how about STOCKING THE ITEMS YOU HAVE ON SALE? This is not my problem to promote a sale item then have no stock and then not offer any customer service. I think we will try Lucky across the street from now on... read more

The Safeway Pharmacy is now the best in town now that Phamica was bought out by Walgreens. Some of the tecs we liked at Walgreens and Pharmuca are now on here. Safeway itself is great with warm and friendly staff that are very helpful except for it seems when someone rings for help in the formula section. read more

Very poor service in deli department, Never again. On Friday the 26th of May @ 12:15 pm I was on my lunch break and stopped in for a sandwich and a few other things. At the sandwich counter there was a couple being helped. The woman making the order was involved in a personal conversation with the couple. I waited thinking she would be finished soon with the 1 sandwich. The conversation continued even to stop preparing the sandwich to continue with her talk.8 minuets later she finally finished the 1 sandwich. She then wanted to ring them up so I asked her if I could write my order down and go pick up the other items that I needed. She said fine. I got my items and came back and she was no where to be found. My order still on the counter. Another employee came around the corner and was surprised to see people waiting at the sandwich counter at lunch time. I explained the situation and she gave me a funny look like she knew who I was talking about. The new gal started on my order, meanwhile I saw the chatty employee walking by with her phone out talking to another customer. I asked her why she did not make my order. She looked at me like I was annoying her and said she would do it now. I told her it was being taken care of. I don't understand how a deli employee has no concept that people are on lunch breaks and their time is limited. I told her this and she just walked off. Safeway employees do not seem to care anymore. Safeway prices have gone way up and the service has gone way down. No more , my time and money are more valuable then to subject myself to this corporation and employees that simply do not care. So I've been in this store many times and each time I see 2 employees working, the night crew manager. Who has helped me to my car with my groceries several times and an older gentleman. I see these guys doing the work of 5 people. To all these "people" who are oblivious to a labor shortage however "you" want to constantly complain about how" their"needs aren't being met and all their other useless feedback. This place has become increasingly GRIM. I've been shopping here since we moved to Napa 4 years ago. I don't know if it is a management problem but it has really gone downhill. I shop here now only when I have to use the pharmacy, which is actually great. And the new Starbucks counter is very nice but seems out of place in the downtrodden, dark and drab store around it. So often the shelves are strangely empty of even the most common items, like eggs or paper towels, water or even vodka?! The produce section is messy and dull. I wouldn't buy anything from the meat counter! It is downright SCARY! And I never see anyone else buying from it either. Yikes. Even Lucky's looks like a gourmet grocer compared to this store. I do not understand what is happening here but it seems to me that while all the other grocers all around it are bright, cheery and well-stocked places that it must boil down to a management issue; incompetant and indifferent. I almost always have to bag my own groceries here and that is not what I am paying for. This is not a discount grocer. Safeway has gone sideways and if it were not for the wonderful pharmacy I would never go there again. read more

My partner visited the Safeway earlier in the morning to grab a breakfast sandwich from the deli, and the lady taking his order was extremely rude to him during the entire process he first ordered a breakfast burrito and then he went to order his sandwich, she must not have heard him because after h asked for sourdough bread, and asked if he can get chipotle sauce, and then she realized that he was asking for a breakfast sandwich and asked if he was going to be a difficult customer or know what he wants and then after he finished his order said to the next customer are you going to be a difficult customer too? How is that acceptable from any store?
