Napa Raley's is awesome. I always drive from the next town over to shop here because it's bright, clean, well-stocked, and never feels chaotic like other stores can. I was never able to get the app to work on my phone and last night the lovely manager (named Cassie I think) spent like 10 mins on the phone with customer support helping me. I couldn't help but note the contrast between this store and it's immediate next-door, neighbor, Target. This store is everything that target is not as far as the grocery side of the business goes. If you're looking for general merchandise, clothing, TVs, electronics, etc., then go there. Here you can get sushi, hot Chinese food, fresh prepared deli meals, even fresh made sandwiches. There's also a large freshly stocked produce department, including a floral department. And unlike Target, they've made a considerable investment in their beer, wine, and liquor selection. They even offer a 30% off discount on wine if you buy six bottles, which I've never seen. It's obviously a focus item for them because it is stacked throughout the store. The only problem is that their prices are so high that it forces you into a six pack. You'll find all the items you would expect to find in your usual large grocer, including pharmaceuticals, but no pharmacy. Here you can also buy rotisserie chickens and tri-tip ($10-$20). You can also find bagged ice and propane tanks to rent. I'm a little disappointed by many of these one star slappers because they're being shortsighted on a personal small thing or detail while overlooking the larger picture. Whatever small things this store gets wrong are easily outweighed by what it gets right. The photos included should convince you of that. read more

We dropped in at Raley's because we happened to be in the neighborhood. The store is so clean and orderly;; the produce looks fresh and there's an abundance of inventory, all the shelves were fully stocked. We didn't interact with any of the employees because we used the self-checkout. read more

This was my first experience ever with Raley's. I have heard good things about the store and once I got inside, I understood why. Their loyalty program is strong. Unfortunately, as a newbie on my first visit ever it was a barrier to shopping the sales (which were impressive). I downloaded the app in the store. I created my account. And then I was stunningly confused. I couldn't quite figure out how to find the coupon thar match the sale which was right in front of me. They had QR codes posted for all of their specials. I scanned diligently and all I got were error messages. So I shopped for the interesting items which had a plain vanilla sale on them instead of the member specials. I felt deprived because clearly I was missing out on a lot of interesting items and some very nice price cuts. Assuming I ever figure out how to use their coupon system, they have some very reasonable prices. Quite a refreshing change from competing supermarkets. The confusion continued at the checkout. I was supposed to scan some barcode which was generated by the app. I had to request assistance from the cashier because I had no idea how to get this barcode. My cashier was gracious and patient and walked me through the app. All this to ensure I didn't miss out on any coupons. All this technology seems to be a bit much just to get a coupon. All in all except for the technology, Raley's is a very pleasant shopping experience. The store was clean and neatly organized. The selection was reasonable. I was totally impressed by the wine section until I suddenly recalled this Raley's is in Napa where an impressive wine selection is obligatory. Overall, I'm quite eager to return. Assuming I ever figure out how to use the app to clip a coupon. There are plenty of reasons to shop here. read more

Food preparation employees are nice and helpful. The self checkout employee is rude and condescending. During my checkout she was extremely rude and abrupt with me and one other person who was checking out next to me. She is not friendly or helpful. I'll still provide this business with a 5 star review because they always treat me so well. Today went a completely different way... I'm not going to allow their employee Anthony to ruin my day. He's a very older gentleman that works in the self checkout area. I came here for a Tri-tip and ended up finding one. As I was checking out he made sure to say don't forget my chicken. I let him know it's actually a tri-tip. He says he doesn't care what it is just don't forget to pay....He said his voice only works for about 20 more minutes or something like That...I said sheesh Anthony. Maybe we should focus on saying hello to the customer first before displaying our attitude. I don't know what his problem is but I've never seen him before. I've been working in Napa for 5 years at a local place and I've never been did like this before... I usually come to Raley's to grab some fresh fruit or a bite to eat from their deli. As a person that lives off Google and Yelp reviews I know a thing or two about how an interaction with an employee at a local business should go. I'm a customer service representative as well. Never shopping here again. Empty store. The security guy by the door & heavyset Caucasian self checkout clerk were the rudest people I've ever encountered in my life. Both of these people are unapproachable and zero help. In fact, the last time I came here, if you want to go the same African-American heavyset security guy, refuse to let me use the bathroom, even though I was a paying customer. They kept saying the restroom was broken when it wasn't Today, since self checkout guy & security was unhelpful i went about finding my own way around. Got what i needed and wanted to just leave. Some lady with a big cart cut me off to the only available open checkstand. So i used the self checkout which was a Big mistake. I had a really heavy item and i didn't see a scanner gun so i asked for help keying in the SKU or if there was a scanner. While i was standing at The self checkout the same employee walked away from me to give something or help another guest. He then gave me obvious attitude, trying to help me. Basically told me to MOVE out of the way there's no handheld scanner and he proceeded to type in five digits which didnt work and said i need to LIFT this heavy bottled water myself and scan it.?? I'm just recovering from an injury at work and asked him or someone else for help and he got more attitude picked it up like it was a big inconvenience and scanned it himself. The whole way he went about it was just making me feel inferior and dumb. When he did this, he skipped the screen where I can type in my something extra member club number and it was an even more inconvenience for him to slather over and help some more I dont usually shop here so i couldnt get my phone number to work. The whole time he's putting me down and saying it won't work just forget it. It's only gonna be about two points with those items. I remember him, saying, you really want to go through with this ?? I was, I was getting irritated and said yes I'd like to add my something extra account info, and he said in the most lousy tone "OK shucks sure i guess sir" or something along the lines of "thats terrific, well uuuh okay" When I finally got my correct member information loaded it up it was 403 points, not "just 2 points" (see photo) I proceeded to the payment screen but whatever he did locked it up and it wouldn't work so I had to get him to come over again. And he flat out said " seeeee look what happened I knewwww afraid this was gonna happen It won't work now I have the void it all out. !! " He really was making a big deal about how much of a pain it was. Super condescending and rude . I had enough left the items and WALKED away empty handed. the security guy never got up out of his lousy chair and was mumbling something underneath his mask at me LIKE you're not going to buy those items sir??? Food supplies for the camper van this afternoon. I hit up Raley's and found great stuff. Cheeses, sliced meats, inexpensive soda. I did okay with my shop. This is a full service supermarket and they have everything. Meat and fish counter looked fresh. Produce area was well stocked. The young man who sliced my ham and turkey was efficient and well spoken. Maybe not the cheapest, since this is California and they've got bills to pay. 3rd time I've come here to get balloons. The first two times I thought it was a fluke they said they couldn't fill them up. This time I asked for help and an employee said very coldly and unapologetically there is nobody here today to do that. Rude service and I'm just so frustrated I went out of my way to shop here specifically to get the balloons at the end. Possibly the worst grocery store I've ever encountered. Never have what I need. Cost is comparable to Whole Foods, while quality is comparable to 7-11. My sweet bf grabbed a $26 bouquet on his lunch hour to surprise me last week. Sadly I was surprised by the dismal quality of the flowers at Raley's in Napa. These should have been tossed and that's exactly what I had to do with over half the flowers he purchased. Several other flowers had to be tossed within 2 days. I saw cockroaches in the stocking shelves. When I tried to address this the fat brunette lady I believe it was the store manager her name started with an M, that worked there then turned the blame on my mother and told her she could not be in the store without shoes. All while following us through the store making my mother and grandmother uncomfortable. I will never shop at this store again based off the way I was treated and the fact that I found cockroaches on the shelves where I select my food. read more

This store really frustrates me. I feel like there's never enough cash registers open, especially at busy times it's always when I go in one cashier actually ringing people up and then only the self check out open. Today after lunchtime, I went to self checkout and I was still six people deep in line for self check out so much. The fact that the line snaked into an aisle and people weren't sure who was waiting for what line. Historically they should know when their busy times are so you would think they would plan to have multiple cash registers open. I go to self check out and it doesn't matter when I go to self check out, it always seem to get at least one item that requires assistant needed because the barcode didn't scan correctly. Then it takes a little bit of effort to get to the staff to machine so I can continue bringing up my own groceries. It also frustrates me that it seems like every time you actually need staff help, They're nowhere to be found. Some of the staff can be very friendly, but a lot of the staff just look angry all the time. I hate that this grocery store sells lotto tickets, but they make it seem very inconvenient when you try to cash in lotto tickets that you bought at that store. I have gone to the store to cash in lotto tickets of higher value at off times and I've gotten the excuse that "oh we're busy we can't cash out your lotto ticket", if that's the case don't sell lotto tickets. I was told by one cashier they only cash lotto tickets between 7 and 8 AM which seems ridiculous. I once had $100 winner that they wouldn't cash and then told me to go to the gas station which a gas station is not gonna cash $100 winner. And it's ridiculous because I bought the lotto ticket at that store. The prices of the store are high, which I mean I expect them to be high. It's Raleys in Napa. It is not my first choice to get food. It's just convenient because it's close to where I work. read more

This location was my worst experience at a Raley's. Absolutely zero customer service. I have a bad hip injury though I make my best effort to hide it. There were employees standing around and I don't mind bagging my own groceries but it is a little annoying when I don't even get a Hello at the register and people are just hanging around. The cashier was extremely slow. They were trans which isn't an issue though they were very unkept and I assume Raley's feels they can't tell this person to be presentable. They were moving at a snails pace and as I'm finishing up bagging and putting the groceries in my cart they squeeze by me to go chat with the cashier at the self check. This location also was out of a lot of stuff and the produce didn't seem as fresh as other locations. My first job was at Raley's in 2000 and customer service was of the utmost importance. I have been into this store several times in the last week because it's conveniently located and I can say this will be my last! I am so tired of their employees being snotty or telling me what I can't do. So you can't take a cart without it being wiped down, you can't take your own bags inside...today I was told I can't take the carry basket to my car. When I told the checker (oh I self check as to have less interaction with their employees ) I was not planning on taking their basket to my car but merely returning the basket to the holder outside where I actually picked up the basket she gave me a nasty look like I was nuts. Perhaps the employees are more accustomed to their shoppers just leaving their baskets haphazardly in the store I don't know, But I am done with this store. I do not need anything from this store that I can't get anywhere else and besides their prices are higher than Safeway so bye bye Raley's! read more

This store in Napa is under Rated. I Give it a 5 star because I have never have the best costumer service in any other Raley's EVER! I have shopped at many other Raley's in the Bay Area, but this one has the common sense and the knowledge that most are lacking. I talked with Mark the butcher. He told how to cook my tri tips. We followed his instructions. The best I have ever had! Thank you Mark the butcher! You have made my family of 15 happy! I cooked as prescribed by you! Thank you! I'm not surprised at how many poor reviews this store has, never been whiteness to exceptionally stellar..Anything really at Raley's. I'm currently staying in Napa short-term, this store is right next to where I'm staying, convenient. However in the 3wks I've been coming here, they got me to set down my dinner tonight & leave with no intention of returning. Aside from this is where good potted plants go to die- literally until a few days ago EVERYTHING except 4 pots of succulents was dead out front.. how charming & welcoming..not to mention the carts are always at the far reaches of the universe where it appears a 2nd entrance exists but in the midst of a pandemic..is not utilized. Super smart to make everyone squeeze thro a single entrance instead. As a fellow grocery worker for the past 22yrs..that'd be a miss on store looking welcoming, appealing, fresh, replenished, carts available & up to store standards & that's not even thro the door yet! I've made mention to 2 of the infante number of "managers" at this location that Raley's has no posted return policy, on the receipt, website. I've informed at least 2 "managers" per California law it should be posted at every register in the store in plain view (this includes floral, bakery, deli, every self check & check stand) as well as by every entrance if the return policy is anything besides "Customers can get a refund or exchange with receipt within 7 days of purchase". Raley's hasn't complied with the law & has managed to get away with it. It's really at the end of the day really is return policy is whatever this particular employee handling your return feels like doing that day. That's it. Then a "manager" a couple weeks ago started to tell me how certain things are sold "as is" no refunds. I told him that needed to be posted, he was "going to investigate that" but I've seen a proof of that yet. I met yet another "manager" says there's no returns on meat, floral and produce cuz it's perishable. Which can't be right but even still if it is, then it needs to be posted -which it is not. Once I stated that he quit arguing and just finished the refund for an unopened lotion. Finally tonight I was getting some dinner it was almost 10pm, I'd got up for work at about 5am.. tired. Just wanted to grab a salad & Pepsi & a couple different things that they were out of, like my coffee creamer.. had me walking around the store looking for things that weren't there. During this quest for the few things I needed, I passed 2 of the ever so plentiful "managers" several times. Said "hello" everything seemed normal. Mind u I'm very tired, on autopilot & right before I go to check out with my salad & Pepsi, I remembered I needed ribbon for a present. I'm looking at their non-supply of ribbon & they're off duty police officer approaches me and says the "managers" wanted him to make contact with me. If I had their merchandise in my bag because the "manager's" said that I had been walking around for 20 mins with nothing in my hands and my bag getting bigger and bigger bigger. Said I had Pepsi in my bag, salad, bundle of chives and approx 5 mushrooms the bag was nowhere near full. I showed it to him when he requested and I told him with covid and everything I just used my bag, people do all the time. I see it at my store all the time. He says, "it's kind of an unwritten rule to not put stuff in your own bags at Raley's.." "maybe it should be written then." "Probably. I don't know, I don't work for the company. They just asked me to approach u so I am. U can speak with the managers if u want." "-why? I passed them how many times? Said hello and exchanged pleasantries how many times? They're cowards. Stopped by today to get 2 pieces of Fried Chicken..usually, I would've paid $3.50, at the most but now they have a serve yourself area and they charge $8.99 per pound..They charged me $6.83 for 2 pieces of Fried Chicken....THAT'S A RIP OFF!!!! I have so much appreciation for the manager and staff of this Raley's!! I came in today to buy a few things and once I got to the self checkout line I had realized I didn't have my wallet. I had just been in Home Depot right next door so I ran back thinking I left it there. No luck. My husband and I checked all thru the parking lot for at least 15 minutes and found nothing. I was left crying and scared. This wallet had all my credit cards and ID. We checked back in raleys and were directed to the manager who saw me crying and asked if I lost my wallet. She was so so sweet and gave me a hug. She handed me back my wallet and said that a man collecting the carts had given it to her. There are truly good people out there. I just recently started shopping at this store. I feel with the current situation with all stores, item availability is sometimes limited. I was pleasantly surprised at how many items they had in stock. The employees were all very friendly and busy stocking. I just used their ECart pick up and that was awesome. It was quick and easy and the person who brought out my groceries was very nice. Already placed my ECart order for next week. It's a nice option to have available to get your groceries. read more

I get not having people give their bags to the employees, but why can't this store follow the same covid guidelines as Trader Joe's, Safeway, every other grocery store in Napa. I live across the street so it's very convenient for me to go food shopping at least 2 times a week. Typically I do my shopping Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays. Every time I come here they are out of stock on organic chicken breast. Do you understand how annoying it is. To have to then put all your items back for what you had planned to make that evening. Then I said to the store supervisor- you know the past couple months every time I come on a Monday or Tuesday you are sold out of chicken. His response was that because of COVID we can't get in as much food and that some countries are starving right now because of the food shortage. I'll just go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's 10 min up the street. They are always in stock. Maybe it's just all the chicken farmers in the world have boycotted this one store. read more

Horrible customer service from one of your cashiers on lane one tonight. I went in to buy a bottle of Bailey's and when I handed the cashier my ID she told me she couldn't accept it because my dog had bitten it. It happened literally today how was I suppose to get a replacement in the meantime. She didn't even try to scan it or have me list off my birthday, address whatever information on there to prove I was 22. Was super rude about it and was not helpful in the slightest. I could've pulled up a picture of my passport but she didn't even let me offer. It's people like that that give customer services a bad rep. My boyfriend was also there and offered to give her his ID but she said because I gave her mine first she wouldn't accept it. Had to run over to target to buy it and they were able to scan my ID no problem. The cashier definitely profiled me for being Mexican. Attached it a picture of where the bite marks where. Holy gigantor supermarket. This place is huge. As is everything else in this mall (Home depot,etc). People have trailers with horses parked here for example. It's got a Wells Fargo and a Peets and probably other things I didnt get to. Pretty much all the grocery you need and then some. There are super markets and there are markets that are SUPER! This is the one and only Raley's I've been in. I found it while camping in my RV at the Skyline Wilderness Park, about 2 miles away - so super convenient. When I first entered the store, I was kind of blown away. I watched Sushi being made fresh, and I picked up a packet and took it home for lunch - melted in my mouth. I also found out that ALL of the deli salads were made fresh, on site and not some mass packaged product just displayed to look good. The meat and seafood is equally incredible. I think we've prepared 3 or 4 meals in the week we've been here that comes from one of thee two counters including a super fresh piece of salmon and some shrimp that we barbequed last night. So good, especially when combined with their fresh produce. Their produce is what really convinced me that this store is special and that those who get to shop here regularly are very fortunate indeed and I hope they appreciate what they have and don't take it for granted. Seriously, when was the last time anyone went into a chain supermarket (over 100 stores) and found 9 varieties of cherry tomatoes? I was fascinated....and they were so good. Here is the coup de grâce - SERVICE! That's right a supermarket that provides exceptional customer service. I was on a quest to find a non-breakable bowl that could be put in the microwave (not as easy as it sounds). I fond a young man straightening a shelf and asked if he knew where I could find such an item. He stopped what he was doing and took me to the place where he thought I would find what I was looking for. I had not been very specific up to that point, and when it was not the right place, he took me to one of his store managers and asked them...the store manager than took me to the proper place in the store. Both employees (and the Sushi Girl) all made me feel welcome and comfortable. Well, I can't think of any other place to buy fresh food...meat, seafood or produce. I needed cilantro for my salsa and there was none in stock, so I asked an employee in produce and they were more than happy to get some from the back.
