This store has some of the nicest employees of any of the other Safeway stores in the area. Always kind and courteous. The price specials rotate around the store and they do have a frequent shopper card that is also good at Vons if you travel. They have nutrition notes on the shelves and have a great selection of about everything. read more

We used to get Chinese food from this deli and loved it. After today, we won't be back. The food tasted old, dried out, and the rice had been sitting under the heat lamp for so long it was the consistency of uncooked. Staff was friendly, but in the middle of the day, the lines were all very long and by the time I got my food home, it was cold. Ended up throwing out $20+ worth of food and going to restaurant for lunch. Very disappointed. read more

I love this store. I come here pretty frequently, some of the cashiers know me as a regular. I use their coupon system, and it makes their prices competitive. Plus I like knowing what I'm getting is good quality, that is very important to me. The sandwich deli is mediocre though. It used to be good a couple years ago, but the more they change it the more I disagree with it. Went there yesterday and it seemed like the staff was not enjoying their job, and it translated into the food. The sandwiches were boring, I could have made something better. And they're always running low on bread saying they could run to the bakery, but some people might be in a rush! Also, what you see listed on the sandwich is what you get. I went into Safeway for a few things and forgot my payment cards at home. I came home to get the cards and I told the lady at the self checkout I would be back in a few minutes to get my groceries. When I went back to Safeway in a few minutes my groceries had been put back because they thought I had forgot about my groceries. I had came home to also take care of my kitten to be sure he was all right. I will not be back but if I do go back to Safeway it will be to the Stockton Safeway on Pacific where there is a gas station. Thank you. read more

Ok we usually come here alot for the sandwiches because sunny was the best but we haven't seen her lately for a while now so we haven't been going. Their just 4 u deals are pretty good prices. Tonight I needed to buy crab and I didn't realize how hard it would be to find seafood later in the day in Lodi (we just moved here not too long ago). Well I stopped in for the second time today and ran to the seafood dept it was already packed away and the young gentleman there said it usually gets put away about 830p. I asked if he knew any where else since it was my second store with no luck and he offered to go ahead and get me a couple pounds from the back! I would say that is great customer service! read more

Now that I am officially a Lodi-an since December 2013, this Safeway is my store! Love that this store is only like 2 minutes away from my place! I'm here atleast 3 times a week since I cook 80% of the time! Safeway is always my go to because I love their gas rewards! I love self check out because I feel like I can do a faster job than some cashiers. But don't get me wrong the employees are all friendly and store is kept clean! Love Safeway's deals! I love Safeways. It seems there is always a Safeway no matter where you go. This one is nice. Its always clean and the employees are always nice. I don't shop at Safeway for everything, but I do go here for certain things. This is my go-to store in Lodi. I think its the best store in this town. Raleys and Savemart both leave a lot to be desired. The only thing I can really suggest here, is to have a specific section for organic items. I've been to Safeways who offer this, and I love it. I really wish ours did. But that aside, I'm a frequent customer and will continue to be. read more

Okay.. In all fairness i'm not a Safeway shopping kinda guy.. But I LOVE their deli Sandwiches.. I have had the sandwiches from Mr. Pickles, Fiori's, Subway, Arby's.. Sad to say a grocery store puts them to shame. Sliced meat to order, toppings of choice (go for the olive spread), not to mention their bakery rolls which you couldnt find better outside of the bay area. So anyway they have select subs but i chose mine to order--"Roast Beef, Cured Salami, Havarti Cheese, Olive Spread, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Mayo and Mustard"-- HEART ATTACK SPEC!! but my partner loved sharing it with me:-) read more

They increased their gluten free products which my wife appreciates. We stopped going to safeway for a while because raleys had a dedicated gluten free section with more items. With the new raleys remodel they got rid of their dedicated gluten free section and replaced it with a bigger liquor selection which is ridiculous. The new raleys is horrible now so we'll be shopping at safeway again. Keep growing the gluten free products and you'll gain a loyal customer base. read more

This Safeway has a good selection, but customer service SUCKS! On Friday at 5pm they only had 2 registers open! There was about 15 people in each line and never called for more to be open. It took 30 min just to get to the register and ice cream and other frozen goods were melting.Poor management and staffing! Would not recommend if you want to make a quick stop! read more

I was one of 9 people in line at the only check stand open today which happened to be the express line. The checker called for help 3 times and no one came. The last time I shopped here about a year ago it was basically the same, one register open and one long line. I don't know how Safeway is still in business with the way they treat the customers! I ordered a simple cake and cupcakes for a baby shower, nothing crazy. I get to safeway bakery to pick it up no one is in the bakery. A clerk directed me to a cake decorator that was on her lunch in the cafe. She said I've been trying to get ahold of you all day(I had one missed phone call regarding choc or white cupcakes) I said well it should be on the order I saw the clerk write it down. She then told me she had 15 mins left on her lunch and I can come back to show her what I ordered. I left and heres where I don't know how they are still open. I call and called and called and called finally I got in my car drive down there and asked to talk to a manager. Guess what they paged him 2xd and he also never came. So I let the girl who was standing there with me know how I felt and she just stared at me no sorry nothing! Stopped at Safeway on way home and decided to buy Chinese food from the deli. Good price, $12.99 ($9.99 with card) for good sized meal, but it was stodgy and didn't taste that good either. Neither of us liked it, so I threw it out and am heading out again to get something else for dinner. The meal barely deserved the 1 star I gave it. A total waste of time and money. read more

So we bought crab at the Safeway in Lodi Saturday late afternoon for Sunday dinner. I asked him for three crabs and to crack and clean them. he weighed them it was 5.2 pounds, he took in back and cracked and cleaned them, wrapped them, handed them to me. I went up I paid for them. Sunday we got ready to have dinner and when he cracked and cleaned them he only gave us all the legs! He did not give us The bodies - which anybody who's eaten crab knows that's where all the meat is. I called Safeway, they told me to bring my receipt in. Went back today with the receipt and the container that he'd wrapped it in and the manager of Safeway told me that they crack and clean it and they always just give the legs and unless you specifically ask for the body of the crabs. She told me she even called the Tracy store and they said the same thing. I told her that was crazy - who would pay for 5 pounds of crab and only get the legs from those three crabs??? so we really only got like a little over 2 pounds of crab and I paid for 5 pounds. But she said she was going to go ahead and give me back half of what I paid for them so I still lost money. So note to everyone - if you buy crab from Safeway you need to specifically tell them you want the legs and the body. That is so stupid I've never ever had to tell them I wanted the body! I think somebody in the meat department is having some major crab feast at their house!!!! UPDATE: AFTER WRITING A LETTER TO CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY REACHED OUT TO ME AND HAD ME CONTACT ANGELINA, CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LODI STORE. Love that Lodi Safeway is open 24 hrs. It's one of the few places in this sleepy little town that you can actually go after 10pm or so. Prices are reasonable and the store is always clean. I especially love the Starbucks inside this location. read more

Hate to write this but it has been very frustrating trying to get the store to stock our favorite 2 liter diet cherry Dr Pepper. I talked to the manager a couple of times and he said he would talk to vendor and correct this problem. As i shopped this morning of course ther was no diet cherry Dr Pepper on shelf. but the vendor was there and I told him the manager would have some in the back so he checked and guess what. Sorry but none in back. We do our shopping at Safeway so this is not a random complaint especially when the manager called me and made a promise. read more

I love the bakery, but every time i go its the same rude young lady. she sounds upset tired bored mad! One time i was looking at the cakes and a couple walked by she was extremely friendly and had a short conversation with them, even offered the child the couple had a free cookie. My name is Penney. My daughter and I used to really love shopping at Safeway and especially loved the sandwich shop. That all changed when we went to the Safeway store in Lodi, Ca. Every Deli we have gone to in other cities was always a wonderful experience. The Safeway in Lodi was a night mare. When our sandwiches were made, every single thing was extra, the person that made our sandwich was so concerned about not putting any thing on the sandwich, it ended up being all bread. When we tried to talk to the cashier, she was so rude that we finally asked for Manager, got someone who said he was the assistant, was even more rude and said, how do you exspect us to make money. Three sandwiches would of cost us 27.00 dollars. We have never experienced such a group of rude, disrespectful people and charged an amount of money for three pieces of bread. We have never experienced this in any other Safeway store. I will never ever go to that Safeway again and will start checking out the other Safeway's to make sure this is not the future of this store. read more

I'm not sure what has happened here, it used to be my favorite store. I have tried the Wing Bar and the new bulk foods sections every so often, but the food is always REALLY stale, they must make the wings in the morning, then leave them on the MUCH TOO HOT table all day, you can't continue to cook wings for 8 hours and have them be edible. I'm not sure whats up with the staffing, but the other night the checker could not get the security lock off of the bottle I was buying, I waited a LONG time while a line formed, if there had been any baggers, managers or other checkers, they could have helped or grabbed another. Finally a bag boy showed up and took care of it. And very disappointed they can not seem to get their gift card policies straight, I have one that became demagged, I am told I have to go through customer service by phone & it takes hours, I have actually given up on that $55. The others we bought for employees were supposed to be able to purchase alcohol and were the wrong ones, they would not switch it for our employees. We typically buy our people their full holiday dinners, we are debating switching to Visa or Mastercard gift cards, sorry Safeway that's quite a few THOUSAND dollars a year that went into your store. read more

My name is Melissa DeShields. I recently got married and was having my wedding reception close to the Lodi, Ca. Safeway. So we went in to the bakery and spoke to the nice girl there. She was very helpful. We chose Safeway for my wedding cake needs because of the quality and decoration appeal we saw at the bakery, its convenient location and the great prices. We went back in after the initial visit and mapped out what we wanted. 1-8" round cake with burgundy and black polka dots on white and 100 cupcakes with three different colors of frosting. We also asked about purchasing the cupcake tier from them, but the girl said we had to ask the day shift people about that because she wasn't sure of how that worked. So, my daughter called a couple of days later to ask about it and was given the information over the phone. My daughter asked them about paying for the cake, cupcakes and tier over the phone. They said they don't do that over the phone and that she could pay when she picked them up. AWESOME!!! This was a month or so (could be less) before the wedding reception. October 11th, my reception date is here and I go to pick up my cake and cupcakes. Nope, nothing was there. They had a manager on the phone tell me nobody came in to pay for it and that's why it wasn't made. I think I hung up on her...(sorry!) OMG!!! The poor girl that was working seen how distressed I was and tried with all her heart to help me, but she couldn't. They didn't have enough of something or other to do the cake for me and I had no time to wait anyway. GREAT! I had no wedding cake! I almost cried, but I just got my hair and makeup done and couldn't! I understand there was a mis-communication, but whoever the manager female was that day, that came out of nowhere, was rude and had a look on her face like I was an idiot...I was upset already and her bad attitude was driving me crazy.
