I'm a person who cook southern food and this store always have what I need and more. Prices aren't bad compared to other grocery stores.

Every time I come here and get a breakfast burrito the employees never seem to know how to do it right. I either end up with cold sausage and egg inside or a burnt tortilla. They need to start training their employees better. read more

Customer service sucks here in lodi branch. Waited for more than an hour for the guy to come help me out.

I like this Safeway, but never enough help...The Manager is really nice and the person (Alex) making the Chinese food is doing GREAT!!!! DELICIOUS!!! They are having quite a bit of stealing out of there...If it wasn't sooo expensive it would be a great idea to move the bakery up in front and the deli and sushi to the back where the bakery is... Love love love this Safeway ! When I randomly forget that I need some good quality organic grocery items , I hit up the Lodi Safeway . What's so great about it is that the workers are oh so friendly , ( shoutout to the homegirl Anna! Hey girl hey :) yes, I made friends with a checker lol ) they always seem to have great stuff in their clearance section , and the best part ? They're open 24 hours! That's right, forget about winco! Safeway has better quality ingredients and it's always so clean here . It's definitely not the closest grocery store to me but , I always seem to go the extra mile because the service and quality remains the same each and every time . No surprises here! read more

Twice I've ordered items for delivery/ pick-up and had issues with the groceries. Today I get packaged vegetables that were expired and visually look rotten (brown and slimey) and eggs that expired a month ago. How are these things even on the shelf for sale? Updated review. I quit going here due to the reduced open checkstands. Too many times it's taken forever too get out. They rely heavily on the self check out but that is a huge PIA if you have lots of produce or a no go if you have wine or beer. read more

Do NOT have groceries delivered! I had groceries delivered Saturday and they left them at my door an hour early in 100+ degrees. Absolutely no help to resolve this issue. I had to buy over half of what was delivered. I requested a time I would be available on purpose. I knew I wouldn't be home earlier. Groceries ruined by heat. So last weekend I picked up , what was supposed to be a Batman cake that I had ordered two weeks prior, maybe a week: well a young lady called me and told me they did not have blueberry fillin which was very sweet of her so I chose something else. Well I go to pick up the cake and not only is it NOT Batman , all they had to offer was Mickey Mouse! No other options. Gave a joke of a discount and said next time this won't happen which is correct because there will not be a next time. I tried letting it go but I've had to hear my kid ask for a Batman cake every day since then. Also pretty embarrassing when you have an entire Batman themed party and open up a Mickey Mouse cake. I'll give it two stars since I do like there club card offers, but the customer service is awful. Everytime I use the self checkout there is never a employee around to fix the machine when I put my reusable bags on and it says approval needed. Cashiers see the light blinking and hear the machine but they don't call for service, instead they act like their really busy and don't have time to pick up the phone next to them to call for service. Really makes you feel unappreciated, to be honest it's not worth spending your money here! read more

I am being harsh and downgrading my 4-star rating to a 3-star based off of a recent visit. My husband and I stopped to grab a bottle of wine and a six-pack of beer. We were on our way to dinner at a friends so we wanted to arrive with beverages. My husband and I have shopped at Safeway many times in the past. In fact, the clerk/manager that checked us out has done so many times in the past. When we were paying for the alcohol the clerk/manager asked for my husband's I.D. Standard procedure, no doubt. My husband produced his I.D., handed it over to the clerk/manager, who proceeded to stare at the I.D. for a ridiculously long time... he stared at the I.D., then back at my husband... back at the I.D., then back at my husband. My husband asked if everything was okay? The clerk/manager said to my husband, "you're eyes aren't hazel." My husband asked what color he thought they were. The clerk/manager said, "grayish-blue". We assured him that on the day my husband got his license, that they were hazel. Did I mention that my husbands I.D. looks just like him and that he is well over 21? Then the clerk/manager went on to tell my husband that he didn't look the height on his license. We thought he was joking. We assured him that my husband is in fact the height listed on the license, hasn't changed height since he was 16. I asked the clerk/manager to take my I.D. so that we could be on our way. When I produced my I.D. the clerk/manager did the same scan and the same back-and-forth between looking at my I.D. and looking at me. I asked what the problem was. He proceeded to tell me that I don't look the height on my license either. Really guy?? WTF!! By this time, there was a long line forming and the people in line couldn't believe what this guy was doing. Again, I thought he was f**king with me! Out of frustration I lifted my foot and pointed to my shoes. I pointed out that I was wearing heels because we were on our way to a dinner party, that's why I must "appear so much taller". The clerk/manager was smug and slightly cocky. I felt that he was deliberately screwing with me. I was finally able to purchase the beverages, but I left feeling frustrated and annoyed! read more

This review has nothing to do with the food at this store. This has to do with the service provided by the management at this Safeway store. Today, after a grueling Dentist appointment I had to stop by the store to drop off my prescription for antibiotics. I also did some shopping to get items for a soft food diet I need to follow due to a tooth extraction - that took 3 hours and 2 Doctors. So, I am feeling awful and my jaw feels like it's been worked on by a CalTrans jackhammer crew. After I picked up my prescription I went to check out the food I bought. The cashier is not just any cashier but the store manager. After my items get rung up, I run my credit card and he just grabs another Safeway club card and runs it instead of my card. I said that's not my card - and I asked him to put the points on my card. He then just laughed at me. I was so shocked at this rude behavior - I just left without saying anything. This is important because the points allow one to get a discount on gasoline. 100 points = 10 cents less a gallon a gas at Safeway or Chevron gasoline pumps. So who doesn't want to pay less for their gasoline? - I still find it bizarre that the top management of this store showed some of the worst customer service I've experienced at any retail business. The guy is a plain jerk - and I'm going over his head to file a complaint with their corporation management. read more

This is a great grocery store. I do a lot of my grocery shopping here when I'm in town visiting with family and I never leave disappointed. My recent trip was last weekend when I was in town for my nieces baptism. Not a ton of organic but luckily they had everything I needed on my grocery list. I especially LOVED their floral section. With it being the weekend of Mother's Day, I was worried that we wouldn't find a good selection of flowers for centerpieces for my my my nieces reception but I found everything I needed here. We supplemented individual bunches of flowers as well as the pre-made floral arrangements and all worked out great. Prices were higher than what I pay at my wholesale flower marts in Carlsbad/San Diego but when you're desperate...you'll pay the price. The sales associates in the floral department were very helpful too even though they had boxes to the ceiling that they had to get onto the floor. A busy weekend for them but still had time to provide great customer service. My only complaint: I've been here a handful of times when visiting family and each time I try to use my Chase credit card, it always gets denied and I get a fraud alert email to approve the purchase. It only happens here though. We made purchases at Smart & Final and many other stores and it never happens so there's something about this store that gets the charges flagged. It might be the amount, we spent $300+ here and I know it's for my protection but still annoying. P.S. They were doing the happy hour @ the Starbucks within the store when we arrived so we got 1/2 off drinks. We were planning to do a Starbucks run on the way home for family so our timing was perfect. When you're buying for 6 peeps, really helps keep the cost down. Oh, and using our CC at Starbucks within the same store went through. SMH! read more

Pros: This gets the default star. - Huge flower section upon entering the store on the right side. - Huge organic & non-organic produce selection on the right side. - Friendly staff at night. The daytime staff needs a little coffee. - Clean and presentable store, food, and merchandise. - Outside of the store was very clean. - Sandwiches are really good. Cons: Minus 4 Stars - Associated with an advertising company out of Texas called Cartvertising. They are a horrible and slimy company. Sales associate Daniel Jason is a complete slime ball and incredibly rude. Donald Smith, the customer service rep., was exactly the same. I don't see why Safeway does business with them! Oh wait, the money of course. - Daniel (Dan) Jason, the salesman from Cartvertising, actually wrote a 1 star review on my yelp page after reading this review. Seems like online retaliation to me. No merit what-so-ever to leave that review on my yelp page but to satisfy a disturbed, unstable individual. I will be contacting Safeway, Cartvertising, and Yelp regarding salesman Dan Jason. This is ridiculous. He SOLD, not provided, a useless (bad) product, I didn't want it, and him and his company refused - very rudely I will add - denied my request and threatened me with collections. read more

This store is fine in a pinch, but it is overpriced and on average I am only able to get 75% of what I came for at best. It has a nice flower selection and it's clean. I have purchased cakes on 2 different occasions from the bakery and they are fine but nothing special and as I said this place is pricey. They have a larger selection of hot food than most grocery stores, but again for me the quality vs price paid is just not good enough. If I am in the area or in a bind and need something like a party platter or some quick flowers, I will stop here. I don't reccomend it for regular grocery shopping or specialty baked items. read more

The short: There are only a few options in Lodi for groceries and this Safeway has a huge produce section in comparison to the competition. The long: I'm no fan of Safeway. Usually (and it happens here too) they never have enough staff working and there are very few lanes open during peak hours. The difference in this particular store is that it is clean and organized. You won't have too much of an issue locating just about anything you need. One thing I really appreciate here is that they have a very large produce section. Honestly I'd rather shop at other places, but it's just hard to beat the amount of produce that is offered here. One other really big issue I have here is that there are never any carts at the door where they are supposed to be. You usually have to go back out to the lot and track one down for your shopping. I'd give them 2 stars, but the produce brings it up to a 3. What works: Clean and stocked. What to improve: Clear the lot more often. I hate having to hunt for a cart. We showed up at exactly 5pm. The pharmacy gate was already closed and the two women behind the counter refused to help my sister. She has cancer and needed the medication tonight. Once upon a time (last week), I walked into Safeway. A loaf of regular bread was $5. I walked right out and never went back again. Terrible prices aside, their sushi is surprisingly good. They offer a relatively fresh tasting selection of sashimi-topped rolls. Quick relief for late-night sushi cravings. read more

I purchased brussels sprouts, asparagus, snap peas a bottle of water and coffee in a can from peet's... I went to help a friend so I was bagging for the cashier. Why did she ask to see my receipt as if I stole veggies water and coffee. I have never felt so out of place and I'm guessing this lady knows how to pick them. I used to love shopping here but all that changed when they installed their self-checkout lines (which are a nightmare to use if you have more than a couple items). Since then, they have only 2-3 regular registers open and only one or two available baggers--and this is on busy weekends! Don't be surprised to find four or more customers with full carts in lines winding down the main aisle. Plus you'll most likely end up bagging your own groceries now--unless you want to wait while the overworked clerk does it all. If I wanted to bag my own groceries, I'd go to a Food 4 Less or similar. Also, their plastic bags are the worst quality of any store as they're too thin and tear easily. What I still like about the store is that they have amazing sales (including the additional "Just For U" personal deals that you add to your Safeway Club card online), their gas rewards program now includes Chevron, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. read more

Don't dare go here to have a deli sandwich made. Third time over about a year's time, 3 completely different employees, all have no idea what they're doing. It's a sandwich! It's not that hard. My boyfriend just came home from here and is so annoyed. He ordered a chicken artichoke and the guy asked him what kind of meat....then proceeded to ask him everything he wanted on it. Absolutely no training. Doesn't even know how to make the sandwiches they offer??? I got some crazy ass chicken sandwich with an extreme amount of mustard. Safeway as a whole is a great company, and when it comes to giving their customers the best deal possible, they're my favorite grocer. The evening self-check employees at this particular Safeway, however, are often extremely unhelpful. Tonight, my family and I were trying to purchase a Boston Cream Pie using a raincheck for $5 Friday, as our store was out, and needed assistance at Self Check getting our discount. We were "helped" by an employee named Elsa, who told us our raincheck was expired. We told her we did not want the cake at that price, and she had no idea how to remove the cake from our transaction. After saying she was going to cancel our entire transaction, my mother expressed to her the fear that the coupons we had used already would be unusable for a second transaction. At this, Elsa interrogated my mother, asking her, "What do you want!? I have to cancel this first." This was not Elsa's first offense. Prior to the issue with our cake, we had an issue with the scale weighing a case of soda, which caused the Self Check to believe we had not bagged it. Though coupons were not the issue, she informed us, rather rudely, that if we were going to be using coupons, we might as well go to a regular checkout. Safeway fully intends for its customers to use coupons, and has made coupons readily available with the Just 4 U app and website. That being said, this Safeway needs to train its employees to understand how to use coupons, and accept the fact that they WILL be used. But before that, PLEASE teach them kindness, and get Elsa's attitude checked or remove her from a customer service job. read more

I like this store. I grocery shop here frequently. I mainly come here for the nice meat selection. If you go to food4less and look at their meat section you'll know what I mean. Safeway has a very good quality meat section. They offer organic fruits and veggies. And they always appear to be fresh. Cashiers seem very friendly. Prices are high if you don't use the SafeWay card. But if you use it, it's not that bad. read more

Yet again another terrible experience at the Starbucks in Safeway. The store it's self is fabulous but they people who rotate through the Starbucks are absolute jokes. This time (11/29/19; 2 pm)a bigger girl was working, throwing used dishes across the Starbucks work area into the sink, huffing and puffing as she slowly made a drink. After about standing there for 3 minutes with out being acknowledged or told "I'll be right with you" I decided to leave. She clearly did not want to be there and it's unfortunate because a lot of people would happily work at a place serving very minimal people at a slow pace. read more

This place has the absolute WORSE customer service. I was in line for a sandwich.. One person in front of me. When she was done with that lady she completely walked away and just left me standing there.. Didn't say "I'll be right with you mam" or ANYTHING! Finally she returned to help me then left me at the counter for over 7 minutes while she made everyone else's sandwiches and I needed to pay.. This used to be a great store to shop at. I don't know if they change managers or what but this is about the 5th time that I've stood at the customer service desk for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to come over and help or for somebody to at least call for help. After 10 minutes I said the hell with it and left. If this is their idea of customer service it's a joke. The meat dept is great, but service at the service desk is nonexistent. read more

My Girlfriend and I came into safeway with a $100 gift card she had bought online and had downloaded on her phone. when we got to the checkout we were told that we couldn't use it because it wasn't printed out which was never stated in the fine print. The biggest issue was that none of the staff could figure out a solution, no customer service what so ever, just told me it was no good unless printed out and made us feel like we were on our own. staff really needs some training on quality customer service read more

Worst bakery ever, the older lady here was SO RUDE when I asked for help on whether they had a certain color frosting (aqua bluish) for my daughters cake. She was dismissive and so rude and there wasn't much to choose from in their beat up cake design book. Needless to say I went to S Mart by Kohls and they were fantastic, just asked me for a text picture of the party decor and she matched the frosting perfect! I hope Safeway goes out of business because they are so overpriced anyway and now that Super Walmart is here they are in trouble. If you buy a full cart of groceries at wal mart versus Safeway it's about a $50 savings, but I will continue to get my meat at Costco! read more
