well ultimatly i guess i have to be a fan because i work here lol but in all honesty it is good to see people speaking out and voicing their opinions =] in my opinion overall our store is a good store. i must agree that some of the departments run *very slow* at times but i wont be the one to put them directly on blast hehe ill leave that up to the general public. i must say for the most part our staff is pretty solid and professional, however there are some who definetly are not. its sad but ya cant let the bad apples ruin the whole tree ya know. if you have had a bad shopping experience here i apologize. my biggest complaint overall is the short staffing, and long lines. though it is extremely unfair to our customers, employees such as myself that work in departments such as dairy and produce, are called up and kept in the checkstand for hours and unable to do any work. thus not alooting us the time to stock the shelves which is why if you are a regular shpper in our store, you know the shelves are always bare by about 3-4 pm in the afternoon. well anywho thats my two cents on the matter lol good day fellow yelperz =] read more

The other night I went in to get some cold medicine. The self checkouts were closed so I had to wait in a long line. The checker was taking his time, chatting with co workers and could care less about the people waiting. This place needs new management. read more

Nasty!!!! Do not order from the deli! Please, it's the worse experience. You have long lines just because the employees rather slice meat, order merchandise and walk around like high ass zombies. The best one is....I ordered my sandwich and the nastiest thing ever!!!!!!! The guy who took my order, grabbed a new plastic glove and since his hand couldn't fit he started blowing inside it!!!! WTF?? He did it at least 5 times to each hand. What makes him think I want his nasty ass germs...who trains these individuals? Wow! read more

I do not like this Safeway. Very poor customer service. The shelves are never fully stocked. Some of the food dates are beyond the date recommended for purchase. You can never get service at the liquor counter. The fruits and vegetables don't seem to be that fresh. The self service check out guy has very bad customer service. When compared to the Safeway that I've used in Pleasanton off Bernal they're completely different..I would give that place 5 stars! This store 1. Bernal Safeway is getting it right over there and this place is doing it all wrong. I hate that this is my local store and because of its convenience I frequently use it, but I'm disgusted by its lack of professionalism and poor treatment of the customers who patronize the business. read more

This place deserves no star(s). Horrible experiences an I've only been there 2 times. First time was last year and it was in the deli department. The ladies were not happy doing their job and they were not pleasant willing to help. I asked for cheese on my sandwich and the lady said that it was going to cost extra to add cheese. I read their sign and it said that the sandwiches comes with cheese. I was not happy and emailed Safeway. They said they were going to set it right (wHatever that means). Thought I give this place a couple months for changes and went back recently. Again to the deli section and again no changes. This time this lady toss a tong from the hot food on the counter and she got a new one. The place is messy with wrapping paper and whatever they can throw on the floor. We got burnt chicken pieces and I don't think I have to pay for this. The employees are not friendly, rude and very unprofessional. I do not suggestion this Safeway (or perhaps) all Safeway if we only get to see this ugly attitude. Take your money some where else. These employees are just collecting money they don't seem to wanna "work." read more

The store itself is okay. I used to go there occasionally. I am not sure what some of you people are talking about when you say "bum free". Jackson street had that guy always asking for change that says he was displaced by hurricane Katrina (as of last year). This location had the one who had just gone into an emergency shelter a month ago that hit me up for change with the exact same story almost everytime I went there in daylight hours for damn near two years straight. I am pretty sure this place has security/theft problems, because on more than one occasion either I have been tailed or noticed someone being tailed by security blatantly as hell compared to other stores. A security guard and two managers following someone around is probably not the best way to handle it. I understand letting someone know you are watching, but letting the entire store know you are focusing all your attention on the guy who is trying to figure out where the spice aisle is in the process? Visible security is a deterant, they, however seem distracted. They always seem to accuse people of stealing beer. They are missing a piece of what goes on. Yes, beers get stolen and they always have problems with it, but as someone who will sit in the park and converse with the homeless there to get a sense of who is where while doing community outreach programs, I far more often see indications that some are stealing food and sometimes even using it as though it were currency to get other things they wanted. Weed is also a common smell. The customer service at this store, for the most part is okay,. I have never seen anyone have a problem with them but I assume they have their share of problems as does any customer service. Selection, I would say is pretty standard for a grocery store. Overall I would be willing to go here. read more

Then one of the ladies had the nerve to say thought the other lady was helping you which I was only in line at the pick up window rude just plain rude lazy no kind of customer service skills what so ever !! Always greet your customer and acknowledge them always make them aware that you will be right with them dont ever give them the silent treatment that is just plain rude ! The store is usually extremely busy. Parking is a nightmare. The service is usually ok. Check out is a slow process, never enough cashiers.

Overall I like this Safeway. Decent parking, pretty clean, nice and helpful workers. Can get pretty busy and lines can get pretty long which is a bummer when you're in a hurry. read more

I really want to congratulate the Safeway on Foothill for always having outstanding team members. Each time I've come to shop there, I'm always asked if I need help in finding anything, everyone is so friendly and helful! This morning was a prime example. Gentleman checked me out.. i wish I remembered his name, but he was so pleasant. Dark hair, he was also helping in produce section. Then there's a young woman named Nicole. Just by talking to her, you can tell she was proud to work for the store because of their exceptional customer service. This store deserves 5 stars. Thank you Safeway Foothill! read more

SLOW AS HELL. Cashiers spend too much time running their mouths with customers instead of keeping the lines moving. And on top of that most of the time they don't know what they're doing anyway. I stay right up the street from this place I always go to the location in San Leandro instead. read more

Had a bit of an issue with a 25.00 gift card at the deli. Paula was on her break and bless her heart was able to help me process payment for my food. Really appreciate the service !!!! Great person. read more

Great customer service and friendly staff. I love the flow and organization of the store. Staff is consisitent and remember customers giving a sense of comfort to their customers. The store is typically clean and stocked. I love that they have a pharmacy and internal Starbucks. Conveniently located and I live it better than Castro Valley and Jackson. read more

I went to the Deli to get breakfast and the clerk (Anna ) was extremely rude . I asked her if the cheddar was mild/sharp. Her response was ,I don't know it's cheddar! When I addressed her nasty customer service she rolled her eyes and said, " OH my God " ! I ended up leaving the food and reporting her. I witnessed her being rude to another customer the day before. I've been going to this Safeway for over 20yrs and I have never experienced such poor customer service !!! read more

I became a fan of this Safeway recently. It is a large, well stocked store with easy parking. On weekend evenings I can breeze though which is not the case for Castro Valley Safeway. My one gripe is the new Just for U program. Even with a fully loaded card with all the specials I am finding that the Just for U rewards do not always come off on my receipt and certain ad prices are not being entered correctly either. I would suggest that you check your receipt carefully after leaving the store. A little here and there adds up when they make the mistake of overcharging. read more

Deli is so much better than before. The new deli manager ther is doin a fantastic job keeping everything well maintained. A lot more varieties now. This store is very convenient for me but there always issues finding a shopping cart all the time and the lines are so bad. If they know they get busy at a certain time then why can't they have more checkers to help. read more

There is a phenomenal employee there by the name of Cedric!! He is so professional and consistently kind. My husband and I go there almost everyday and he is always smiling and striking conversation with his customers. He is also efficient. Please please share this with him.
