I shop at Safeway so much that I always get a decent discount when I key in my number here. Also super game changer that I just discovered they have long hoses so you can pull up on any side and get ! Not limit yourself to pulling in on one side. Southshore has everything. Gotta love this plaza. After you get gas , get makeup at Ulta, groceries at Trader Joe's (or Safeway), Korean Food at Ohganes or Bowld (same owner) or shop at my fave spots TJmaxx. read more

I dunno why it shows this location has closed. Because it has not. And I just got gas here. Checked the sign posted stating the business hours and it says 5am-11pm. It looks like they finally fixed the tire air pump too. It's not blocked off anymore. read more

This is where I usually get my gas. However, the pump wasn't working right. It kept stopping for no reason, even when I was squeezing the handle. Kind of annoying. However, I do like the surprise every now and then when I get 10 cents off per gallon! This place does get busy. read more

Safeway's gas station is located at the entrance from Otis St. The lines can get pretty long during the day, so I usually get my gas in the evening. The pumps have extra long hoses so you can fill up whether you enter the pump island on the left or right. You need your Safeway Card and pay by either credit or debit at the pump. Otherwise cash payers need to pay inside. But now, you know longer get a 3 cents discount per gallon with your Safeway card. Instead, you get a 10 cent a gallon discount if you pay with a debit card or with cash. The price is less than your name brand gas stations and cash and debit card payers get to save more! read more

Dear Safeway Gas, What can I say... there is Chevron nearby, Am/pm, nobhill... but when I need gas, i squeeze the last ounces of my tank to crawl towards you. Why? 1) You are cheap (wait.. that didn't come out right..) - I can always count on your prices being lower than most 2) You are convenient (hmm.. that doesn't sound nice either) - located near safeway and all the southshore shops 3) You provide discounts (did i just call you cheap again?) - since I shop at safeway all the time, I'm always extra happy to find out I have a reward on my card. so worth it for my suv.. Now I don't know about what all these other guys are saying about you being inferior. I admit I've never measured your gas performance versus someone else and I am probably too lazy ever to do so... so your still good in my book! the only downside are those horrid lines during peak hours and your "early" close time. And I miss those 3cent safeway card discounts! If only you could fix those things... then.. well... i'll be there regardless anyway so it's not much of a threat or a plea.... i'm so nice. So until my next fill.. read more

Gas gas, we all need gas (except for those darn EVs) So when I see Chevron or Shell, I pass Because it's all about convenience, what is close by And whenever I'm in need, I see you in my eye Lately it's been good to get gas at your station The fact that at times there are no lines, gives me straight up elation At times there are crazy lines here but as of late, it's been good, and I think they close at 11pm which is great! They have a little convenience store which is also really convenient given that there are no other gas stations near by. read more

The gas fills so slowly compared to other stations. There were a couple of pumps not working so they were blocked. Mine took forever to pump and then I noticed gas was overflowing from my car. Apparently the warning system wasn't working at that pump. Bad experience. read more

I was disappointed, all I wanted to do was cash in my scratchers that amounted to $12.00. I left with no question because there was not even an attempt of any type of service. Thank you for the rude service! read more

Since finding this place, Safeway Gas Station is now where I go to fill up the tank when we're in town. There gasoline prices are lower than most other stations in Alameda. Only thing that I'm not too crazy about are the long lines and the traffic jam it tends to create. read more

Curly Fry strikes again! Whoever's late, takes the bait! ::doing the happy dance:: It is quite funny you see, my family and I have a mischievous game we like to play with our Safeway card. Despite, some of my older siblings and I being out of the house for a number of years, we continue to use our parents Safeway number. In addition, my two high-school aged siblings, my parents, my brother-in-law, and my man, all use the same digits. Well, if you are a Safeway shopper, you most definitely know about the rewards program. There are so many, for example, buy 7 sandwiches, get the 8th free, buy 7 Starbucks drinks, get the 8th free, or spend a certain amount of money in the store and receive a bigger discount on your next Safeway Gas purchase. My family is ALWAYS scrambling to redeem the rewards. A few weeks ago, my brother was at the Safeway in Rohnert Park, probably stocking up on beer, when he notices on his receipt that he's only one more sandwich away to gaining a free one. Sadly, he only has 3 bucks on him, so he figures he will head over to the bank so he could steal the freebie. Unbeknownst to my brother, our older sister is at a Safeway in another town trying to order her favorite Safeway sandwich, smoked turkey on wheat. The cashier casually mentions to her that she is eligible for a free sandwich. My sister, most likely with a sly smirk of contentment on her face, snatches the free grub right from under his nose. Minutes later, my brother was dumbfounded when the sandwiches he purchases totals out to just over 15 bucks. "And I didn't even fu*king want a sandwich to begin with," he shouts at me over the phone attempting to discover the thief. Though my sister lucked out last time, today I got to take home the prize. I roll into the Safeway gas station nearly on empty, pump in the Safeway card number and ding ding ding, the jackpot starts ringing. I save 10 cents off each gallon! I fill her up and minutes later, I'm back on the road. It wasn't more than an hour later, when my siblings and I received a mass text from our father. "Goddammit. I can't even get ten minutes to load the groceries. Thanks for stealing my gas, you little weasels." ::evil snicker:: I love the Safeway Gas Station. read more

I use gasbuddy.com as an application on my smartphone to check out the local prices and I'm amazed at how often Safeway is cheaper than Costco, especially when you factor in the Safeway Club Card discount. I use both the regular and the premium fuel, depending upon the the vehicle I am filling up and I've never noticed any reduction in performance or in gas mileage (which strikes me as contradictory) as reported by some Yelpers. Enter from the parking lot, and not from Otis Drive. Don't worry about driving up to the island with your fuel cap on the side of the vehicle away from the island. The hoses from the pumps will stretch all the way to your fuel cap. read more

usually the cheapest in alameda compared to valero, chevron, and nob hill. safeway members automattically get 3 cents off a gallon and you get 10 cents off a gallon when making a $50+ purchase of groceries at safeway. they also provide hand sanitizer at the pumps. important to me now since i saw the news reporting gas pumps as the number one dirtiest thing you can touch while youre out and about running errands! read more

Clean station. Attendants keep cars moving. Wow just got 20 cents off per gallon! Be organized. Have credit card ready, and Safeway club card ready. The discounted fuel is not worth it's inferior quality. In the three or four times I've made the mistake of getting a tank here, I've experienced a noticeable drop in engine performance. It literally makes my car feel sluggish and slow, and I feel like I have to push the pedal down further to get the same amount of acceleration that I'm used to. Your experience may vary, but if you own any sort of performance vehicle and are used to noticing how your engine is behaving, I would skip this station and head elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love this place!!! Despite some of the most nastiest of customers! The staff here are so friendly, and gracious! I always get my service with a smile!! I love them!! Inexpensive gas... probably one of the cheapest on the island with credit card use. 3 cent discount when you type in your Safeway card #. 10 cent discount for every (I believe) $100 you spend in any of their stores using your card #. Discounts can accumulate, so I've had 20 and 30 cent discounts before. I like a gas station that has squeegees available... not missing or broken. This place does. There can be a line during rush hour... in the evenings around 5pm. Entrance is from inside the shopping center. Do not enter from Otis. con: station can close early with no signage noting the early evening closures. read more

Someone said it, and I'ma say it again. Safeway Gas has LONG HOSES. It does not matter what side you pull up on. Please read the signs and don't hold up a line or block traffic just because you want a hose closest to your gas tank. Especially when the signs read "one way", don't confuse people by pulling in your car the wrong way cuz it's convenient for you. That's the only annoying thing about coming here. Besides that, 3 cents discount with your Safeway card? Hell yeah! read more

The cheapest gas in town! Gas attendants are extremely nice. Recently scored $0.10 off/gal! So I paid $4.01/gal. And Safeway has a sweet deal right now... buy +$75 of groceries and get $0.20 off per gallon! Who can beat that!? Will definitely revisit soon! read more

Amazed at the service I just received after getting gas and needing some air in my tires. I had some trouble getting the air to flow right so I walked inside to ask for assistance. Ali stepped right up and helped in the most unassuming way. Sometimes a short interaction with another human being leaves a huge imprint. This was one of those moments! Thank you Ali. I live 3 blocks away and because I drive for LYFT several mornings every week, I buy usually buy gas 3 times a week. Gas is gas and I pay Safeway's going rate because it's close by and I often get a bit of a discount because I buy some food at the store. One problem I have with this facility is that they very seldom have the basic tools out to clean car windows, no squeegees or paper towels. I'm not talking about 6 am. At 8am you often have to go in their little store and ask for these items. Most people are up and on their way to work by then, why can't these items be out in time for working people to be able to use them? Most of the staff there have been good, but I ran into an employee with a bad attitude recently. Last week I stopped to put gas in my Harley and, as usual, there were no paper towels and the pumps. When I went in the store to ask for a couple, an employee said that I could not go in the store with my helmet on. This is not a helmet that hides my face at all. He did not offer to bring me paper towels as I waited outside the store. Also, there are no signs posted saying that helmets cannot be worn in the store. When I asked another employee behind the counter for paper towels, the other employee told him not to give them to me because I was wearing my helmet. It appeared to be more of an opportunity to exert some imagined authority than behavior based on any logic. There are other places in Alameda where my wife and I can buy gas several times a week for our cars and my motorcycle without this kind of hassle. read more

One of the cheapest gas in the Island of Alameda if you use your Safeway card you get 3 cents off per gallon.

Inferior quality gas. Immensely long lines. Not worth the 15 minute wait that one must go through in order to get gas. Also, most of the time at least 2 gas pumps aren't in working order. read more

I like the location because it is convenient, but I dont know if they have a problem with their premium 91 fuels. Every single time I had to use Safeway fuel, it throws my check engine light on . Maybe my car is super sensitive, but it's a hassle having to take it to the dealership to have it fixed and cleared. read more

Not a lot to say - it's a gas station. I had $0.70 in points to use up so we ended up filling the car for something like $12. My only complaint is that there's not a Safeway gas station in San Leandro. Yeah, Alameda isn't all that far away, but still. We don't bother with the Chevron partnership because they only let you use 2 points (super lame), so when you factor in the price bump for using plastic it's just about a a wash. read more

Cheapest gas on the island! Also refreshments and snacks line the walls inside. Use your Safeway card for continuous savings! Since this is a gas station I'll make it quick and easy. Prices are decent and there are plenty of pumps. Convenient location at the south Shore shopping center.
