This Safeway is alright. Honestly the one from Fremont Hub is better than this location since it's bigger there. I only go here most of the time because it's close to where I live, and that I've been going here for years. Decent location, it has all your basic needs for a grocery store. The seafood area is sketchy (never looks fresh). They do have a deli hot food area and that's pretty good. I come here often as it's the closest Safeway to me. They sell hot Nathan's hotdogs during lunch for $1.49 and they are big. read more

Self-checkout today: First time thru: During my transaction I was waiting for a text from my card co. asking if I was trying to make a purchase there, and the lady overseeing that area came up and started pushing buttons on my register without first discussing it with me. I was startled and asked her what she was doing, and she said, very loud and condescending, "you want to try to run the card again right", and I said please don't start pushing buttons on my register during a transaction involving my money unless you ask me first. I had no idea if she was cancelling my transaction or what she was doing ... 2nd time thru, same day: During this transaction, I was trying to see if the correct price was ringing up, and she yells across the space from her podium in front of a crowd of people "it wants to know how many bags you are going to use". Like I don't know that, but before that I needed to confirm the pricing before moving forward. I asked her to stop helping me, and she said "that's my job", and I said, again, if I need your assistance I'll ask for it, that's why it's called self-checkout! 3rd complaint: On New Year's Eve, I told an employee I needed batteries (I was standing in front of the battery cabinet), she seemed upset that I was interrupting her conversation w. another employee, pointed at the cabinet and very snottily said "they are right there". I obviously knew they were "right there", and obviously needed someone to unlock the cabinet so I could retrieve some of the batteries ... she begrudgingly sent someone else to help me, making me wait even longer. Also on that day, a couple of my purchases rang up incorrectly (cans of catfood rang up at full price per can, and a salmon purchase), as well as another issue that I won't get into. I brought the receipt back a day or two later, showed the manager my receipt and he said that must have been the pricing that day. Then he said you know you have to buy more than 10 cans to get that price, and I pointed to my receipt, which he continually showed no interest in looking at, showing I had purchased 24 cans, and I said no, that is incorrect, please see my receipt, and then showed him the salmon label I had taken a picture of clearly showing I was charged the original price and not the sale price. He was trying everything he could to not correct the incorrect amounts I was charged, and he resentfully said "I tell you what I'll do, I'll refund you the money on these two items, would that make you happy", and I said no, I would rather have been charged the correct prices in the first place. I went to take a photo of the cat food prices, which were the same as on New Year's Eve ... 10 or more you get the discounted price. I came back and showed him the photo, and he said "I refunded you the money didn't I", and I said yes, but you made me beg for it and acted like you were doing me a favor!!! Safeway, do better ... quit picking on old ladies who you treat as if they have no concept of reality ... This little old lady had to experience arrogant employees and find "their" errors, and then explain it "to them"!!! I know these are small issues, but they just add up, time after time ... Safeway floral department SUCKS! Do not purchase flowers from there!! I purchased flowers for mothers day 2025, they DID NOT open and began to dry and die by the third day. This past Monday I was helped by this sweet Woman that smelled devine,I believe her name was Lana I couldn't find an item I needed 4 workers walked past me with out acknowledging me but she came out of no where she showed me the section I was looking for. I ordered a marvel cake for my son's birthday and when my husband picked it up it was a plain white cake with red and blue frosting. The G looks like a 5. I had originally ordered from a different Safeway and they were kind enough to let me know they couldn't make the cake I ordered, leading me to order from this location. I did not receive ANY communication regarding my order. Why couldn't they call, like the other location? I could have arranged for another cake. We got a small discount but I would have rather gone somewhere else. Now we have no other alternative except this horrible cake. At 5:10 PM today (April 20th), I had a frustrating experience at Safeway while using the self-checkout. I needed help removing an item I didn't want and kept asking out loud for assistance. Just a few feet away, two employees -- a Black woman and a tall white man with long hair and a septum piercing -- were standing together having a conversation. The man looked over at me three different times while I was holding up the item and asking for help, but didn't say anything. Neither of them acknowledged me at all -- they just continued their conversation like I wasn't even there. It was disappointing and made me feel completely ignored. I expect better customer service, especially when I'm clearly asking for help with a simple issue. No wonder this place only has 2 stars. read more

It was a work of the mill Safeway grocery story. Perhaps because I went rather late in the evening, I noticed they locked the doors on the right and only kept the doors on the left open. The location didn't give off the most cleanly look, but I was looking for ice cream which I got! They were having a Safeway members deal on breyer's ice cream so I purchased one Neapolitan and one French vanilla ice cream tub. The only plus was the worker who was there late at night who helped clarify that the coupon:discount counts once you click pay now. Just wanted to make sure I had chosen the correct brand and tub. I tried to get her attention for like 5 minutes to help me with a locked case before just leaving because she was busy publicly shaming her coworkers. Time for an update! It's funny how this is our closest Safeway (I think), yet we rarely go to this one unless we're absolutely needing something or we decide we want some potato wedges which is what happened in this recent trip. We were picking up some food and boba nearby and decided why not pick up some potato wedges and chicken bites. So we went in and to the right side is the deli area. We were patiently waiting for someone to come to us to ask us if we needed help. It did take a bit of time before someone decided to saunter over. Then it was a matter of just getting our items and paying for them at the self check out and we were on our way. Besides the slight wait at the counter, this Safeway is fine. Pretty standard. Considering the other Safeways that I went to in the previous week which was the Dublin location which seems like leaps and bounds better than this one but I think that's because it's close to the corporate headquarters. I haven't had any issues nor have a shopped here often enough to find anything wrong with it. So OK it is. read more

So this is my local go to Safeway. Been coming here forever. Well more like 20 years. Whenever I shop for groceries, plan for parties with food, get flowers, get snack binges, I come to this Safeway location. They pretty much have everything I need and it's usually in stock. There is the off occasion where I have to go to a different store but this place is pretty reliable with what I need. The people here like Rhonda (customer service) Greg, Ethelyn, Kathleen, Maria, (all cashiers), James (deli), Alondra (floral), Calvin (butcher) and Annalise (courtesy clerk) are all really friendly. Everyone of the employees are essential workers and I really appreciate their commitment to serving. I will be coming here for many years to come! read more

I very rarely write negative reviews. But the lady helping out at the self check out registers today was just not pleasant at all! It's not my fault the machine was slower than me scanning. I was scanning my items and I moved it to the bagging area. The register said I had an item in the wrong place. I tried to move it back and it said I needed help. The lady working there almost started yelling at me! She was like "what did you do?" She even counted the number of items I had scanned compared to the register as if I was trying to steal something? Just very unpleasant. And really bad customer service. Even made a bad joke about how I owe her a drink? I said thank you for your help and tried to get out of there as fast as possible. Don't think I'll return to this Safeway in the future. read more

This Safeway is by far the best CLEANEST Safeway I have ever had a pleasure of attending! I am a regular and I come here four times a week and I spend about $200-$300 every visit. Last night I bought a watermelon that was really rubbery on the inside so after work I needed to return the watermelon and they made the process so easy for me. They were so kind and understanding! Jennifer and Stephanie were SO AMAZING!! They have the best customer service ever! Stephanie went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my watermelon when I chose a new one!! I was extremely happy about her being so understanding of my situation anytime I come she is always so sweet and helpful and tells me about sales so I don't miss out on them! Her infectious laugh makes me have a good day when I'm not having the best time, she's so happy all the time! She's so kind and sweet!!!!!! I keep going every week to this location because of how amazing their customer service is!! I'm so glad I come here as much as I do! I LOVE the night time crew!!! After years of grocery shopping, I've concluded that intrinsic problems of Safeway are not the rude staffs or poor product quality (sometimes in the dairy section). The complex weekly ads to include member discounts, digital coupons and Friday only special are just too much for a senior citizen like me. I experienced nice staffs as well as rude staffs at self checkout. Most of time customers got frustrated because they couldn't get the discounts after they clipped the digital coupons. And the staff would be annoyed to explain or to correct the system errors if it turned out something was not set up properly. All these add up the stress and discomfort for everybody. Safeway was acquired by Albertsons. And now Albertsons is trying to sell itself to Kroger. The management should focus on establishing the easy shopping experience instead of profiting from business transactions. Anyway, it is not the staffs to dislike. Bakery staff is unreliable. Ordered a 2 full sheets of cake for a retirement party and the minute I got there the staff just started the second sheet! Spoke to the manager the day before and made sure that this would get done on time but her excuse was that the staff was new! Such BS. They could've done a courtesy call to say that the second cake was not made. This was pretty embarrassing on my end showing up with one cake to my company party. Came here primarily for the pharmacy. The pharmacy lunch period is 1-1:45 pm which is reasonable. 1:45 pm comes - still closed. Called pharmacy, no pick up. Called store, and then pharmacist walks past us at 1:50 pm without acknowledging the line. I asked her when the pharmacy would open and she said, "Soon." without breaking her stride and while continuing to talk on her cell phone. 10 minutes later at 2:00, she opens the pharmacy. Pharmacy shows a free covid test sign. I ask about them and the pharmacist says insurance stopped paying for it earlier this year. Told her it's likely a good idea to get rid of the sign then. She just said, " Yeah..." My doctors office sent in a prescription days ago. When I showed up, it wasn't ready. Had to wait another 15 minutes for them to prepare it. Walked across the street from Midas while I was getting an oil change and it was very clean and everyone was very nice.

If I want to give the bakery negative stars I would. Last week I placed an order for a custom graduation cake and I asked them if I can have it ready by 5/24 at noon or afternoon. They told me that they would be able to have it ready by that time. Fast forward to today 5/24, I received a call from the bakery department and told me that they have to cancel my cake order since one of their cake decorating staff called in sick and they want to offer me store credit and a Safeway gift card. I even asked them if they can give me whatever they had since they informed me that their cakes will be made fresh in the morning on the day I am supposed to pick it up. This isn't the first time that I had encountered issues with the bakery department and a couple of my family members also encountered similar issues as well with custom cake ordering. Last year, I placed an order for a custom cake for my sister's high school graduation party, and 2 weeks later when I come to the bakery and pick it up, they told me they don't have anything for me. I have decided that I will never again order my custom cake from Safeway again because their way of organizing and handling custom cake requests is beyond disappointing and very unorganized. This review is about the butcher department and poor customer relations. I recently ordered 50 pork chops from the butcher department for a big dinner I am cooking for. I asked them if I could pick up in a couple of days since the dinner is Wednesday. The two butchers said no problem and that they would let their cutter know, Awesome! I picked up the 50 chops and started to prepped them when my kitchen crew pointed out 9 of the chops were almost 2" thick and 11 were 1/2" or less thick. The rest were ok. I went today and to share the inconsistency of the thickness of the chops with the red bearded butcher that I originally placed the order with. All he did was giggled at me and did not say one word. I replied, "Please let the person know who cut the chops? And to try to do better." He continue to giggle as I walk away. I felt it was some kind of a joke to him. I felt disrespected. This is not my first complaint about the meat dept. but it will be my last as I will not be using their service again. This Safeway is my neighborhood store that is right across the street from me. My family and I have been shopping there almost everyday since they open in early 1980s. I have placed many large orders of meat for years but never again. I will drive 5 miles to the next store for all my meat and seafood. read more

The Safeway in Anderson California has one of the best Deli. The service was excellent. We bought Safeway 8 piece all dark fried chicken and their combination sushi. The fried chicken was tender and tasty. Not dry as in some other Safeway stores.The sushi tasted fresh and delicious. The tuna and salmon sushi was prepared perfectly. Short Story: A kinda crappy Safeway. Long Story: I've been coming to this Safeway for almost 10 years. It has poor customer service due to a lack of employees. The number of cashiers whether it's 10am, 10pm, or 3am on any day is extremely low. The bathrooms are dirty and the store seems run down. The produce aisle always seems like a Black Friday sale took place. Products are all over the place and there's lots of things out of stock. The bathrooms are especially dirty and looks like 100 people used it before you did. Make sure you look to see if there's toilet paper before you start. Secondly there's never any paper towels. Verdict: I'll be going back. You might be asking why I come here despite all the problems. Well I live close by and if it's just groceries you want then it'll pass. As for the selection and quality just forget about it. Canned goods and potato chips are the only good things here. read more

Really lousy supermarket. Staff is incompetent, especially manager. I hate when people, who are supposed to serve, lie to me. Their " digital" coupons are clearly just scam, every time when I try them, there is some problem. In general all of the coupons there are unreliable. Typical situation is when I try one of those the item is missing and their response is "Come tomorrow". The latest sample of their performance I saw today, when I came to floral department to buy a helium balloon. Nobody was there for 15 min. Then I asked at the counter and the answer was "She will be here in 2 min". After 5 min I asked somebody else and it turned out she was out for lunch. Is this the way to treat customers?
