The quality of produce has gotten so bad at this location. For how much groceries cost its upsetting that most of the fresh fruit and vegetables look rotten and moldy already, past its prime. Last week I could not find a single carton of Strawberries that didn't have mold in it already. This locations shelves also always seem to be empty on certain products for weeks. I asked one of the clerks if they maybe has this one brand of bread in the back, to which they replied " ya its just been buried back there for a couple weeks but I can try and dig some out for you. " I am not sure what has happened to safeway but it seems at least at this location, they dont care. read more

Love coming here, but a bit upset that I picked out batteries for 5.99 and when ringing up were 10.99. Went to double check with an employee and 7 batteries were in the wrong place labeled 5.99. He quickly moved them all to the correct place (which is why I don't have a picture) and when I asked if they'd honor it, he completely ignored me. I asked again but instead he insisted on me buying a smaller package for the 5.99. I didn't need the smaller package . Any way, most grocery stores should honor the price if there's more then one in the wrong spot. They did not . At least Winco has policies they stick to , along with prices always being correct. read more

I am in this store a lot. Checker Veronica has the worst attitude and is completely disrespectful and condescending for no reason to every customer. On a busy night she "closed" her lane when there was a huge line between two, yelling at me that "after THIS item and her I'm done!"... pointing at a girl with one box of tampons... way to embarrass her too. So I and the two groups of people behind me go to the back of the other line. When she was done checking out all her customers, she called to the men behind me saying " I can help you". They then turned to me saying, "Go ahead, I guess she's still open" so I moved my cart into her line and she yelled "NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID! I SAID I CAN HELP *THEM!*" Um, what? Is there a reason for the discrimination? I was in shock so I moved back to the other line and she continued to call customers from behind me to refuse to check me out specifically. I then directly asked her why she wouldn't check me out and she glared at me red and flustered, saying "these people only have a few items!!! If you have a problem with it I can get you the manager!" She stood there continuously calling people behind me over to her one after the other. I had a cart but probably ten items total.... when I did get checked out by the other girl Mia, who is always fast and friendly, I asked her if there was a manager I could speak with. Although I used a normal tone, Veronica yelled from the other lane "YEAH, I'LL GET HIM FOR YOU, AND MY NAME IS VERONICA!!" as she was apparently and creepily very invested in my every move and word. I did speak to a male manager who introduced himself and walked me to the parking lot, which Veronica suddenly needed to move carts around near to observe us... I am not sure if this location has suddenly begun accepting felon reform candidates, but Veronica seems in need of immediate mental help and is clearly unhinged. She should in no way be in a "customer service" role. If she is in a special rehab program, it may be better to put her in a stocker or cleaning role. read more

I am adding a 3rd star because something has changed here. They must have hired new friendly people. The lines move more quickly and the help has much better attitudes than in the past. Only 3 stars because cleanliness can be an issue. Yesterday I saw a dead fly on package of cheese. And the bakery is always a disappointment. It used to be a whole lot better. If you want quick service, do not shop here, almost always the only register that's opened is 15 items or less. Go thru that line with 16 items you will get chewed out. This place used to have the best grocery store bakery in town. The past year or so the shelfs are bare nothing like the picture they have on here. And if you need help or want to order a cake, good luck finding someone to help you. What happened to 3 is a crowd? read more

Not quick to pull the trigger on 1-star reviews and I have given this place many opportunities to change my opinion to the better--but it only gets worse. There are many better options for groceries in Folsom than this Safeway location. Today, I had to wait for Heather, the only cashier on duty, to vent out loud to a couple of Union Organizers all of her problems with her pay and management. I was shocked she was discussing her admin issues out loud for the world to hear, but to do that while I'm trying to get checked out was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. Today's event coupled with regularly finding rotting produce and fruit on the shelves and meat department personnel that are less than personable cause me to shop at other grocery stores in Folsom. Safeway's floral department does offer cut flowers that always look fresh for 7-10 days and their holiday prime rib prices are unbeatable. Nonetheless a true 1-star store. read more

Hi My name is Gwendolyn. I visited Safeway in Folsom on April 15,24 to pick up a prescription, I shop there as well. Always a great experience. Anyway as I proceeded to the pharmacy, I realized that I left my second phone in my vehicle that had my discount on it. So, I went back to my vehicle to retrieve my phone, and proceeded back into the store. When I got to the pharmacy, there was one customer ahead of me. I pulled out my phone and sat it down on the counter in the walkway in front of the pharmacy. As I finished my transaction, I went home which is down the street. When I got home I normally take both of my phones out of my purse, but then I realized I had only one phone in my purse. So I hurried back to Safeway. When I got there I went to the pharmacy and asked them did anybody turn in a blue apple phone. They said no but check customer service, so I did. Customer service said that no one had turned in a phone. By then I was panicky. I asked the cashier could they look on camera to see what happened to my phone , so the cashier called the Manager Haley. Anyway Haley came within a couple of minutes. I explained what happened, meaning I told her that I left my blue apple phone on the middle counter in front of the pharmacy and asked her if she could look at the cameras to see what happened, she said yes. That was very nice of her. The camera showed that I did set my phone down but I picked it up within a few seconds when the customer in front of me left. So, by then I was confused. I told haley that I was going to look in my vehicle to see if my apple phone may had fell on the floor. So she said in the meantime she would continue looking at the camera. I I proceeded to my vehicle and opened my the door to my SUV on the passenger side and there was my apple phone on the floor. I was so happy. So I went back inside the store and told haley it was on the floor and she was genuinely happy that I found my phone. I thanked her and gave her a hug. When I initially told Haley, she sprang into action. Haley was very professional, very knowledgable working the camera and she has a good heart. People with good experience with your business will return and recommend your product or service to others. This results in increased customer loyalty and a stronger customer base. Safeway, you have a very good crew and I thank you for providing our community with a very lovely store and great products. Great customer service! At the customer service counter today, the employee (Anthony) was there talking with another worker (name unknown) as we approached. They continued conversing without acknowledging our presence. He (Anthony) told the other staff member he would take care of something right now. He still did not acknowledge or presence and walked away. He then went into a back room and returned to leave the counter entirely. I thought maybe he did not work in this area. He came back to this area and retreated back into office area. We waited to see if anyone else was coming. No help came so I pressed the "help" button on the counter and waited. A few minutes past and he came to the counter and asked "how can I help you". I was returning a couple lottery tickets with a little winnings. He took the tickets, processed them and slid the money and receipt under the counter divider and looked away. I now see why this store has 3 out of 5 stars. During this entire time not one employee said, " I'll be right with you", " thanks for your patience ", nothing. Very poor customer service. read more

This Safeway is huge, and it's setup like any other huge Safeway. So if you are familiar with a large Safeway, everything is where you'd expect it to be. I didn't need any help this day, so I can't say anything about the employees. And it really wasn't a busy time so no stress at all. read more

The Deli section at Safeway in Folsom is an absolute joke. You step up to the counter and you expect 1 of the 5 people behind it to greet you and ask you if you need help. Nope not this deli section, you stand there and everyone tries to look busy! Yesterday I Stood at the counter for 15 minutes waiting and watching the 5 employees completely ignore me. Apparently they were having a serious issue with regards to lunch at 1 PM. Now mind you I'm very patient and understanding. Another customer walks up and 2 clerks ask her if she needs any help. That was all I needed, I told them they were a joke, and extremely rude! They said we didn't see you standing there, wrong I was there for the entire chaos of 2 employees being scheduled for lunch at the same time. I abandoned my full grocery cart, walked over to the manager and explained my situation. He seemed a little confused, somewhat apologetic but surely wasn't concerned with my problem. Easy to navigate. Clean. Fresh produce. Helpful staff. Restrooms smell good. Can use gas rewards at local Chevron.

NO SELF CHECKOUT! And on top of that, they never have any open express lanes and they usually only have a couple check stands open. I'm a local and often use Safeway. I love the team (both pharmacy - Brad and Tammie are the best pharmacists in town- and front store)!! Their energy and enthusiasm beat all other retail stores. So to no surprise, for my wedding, I got my bridal bouquet and absolutely love it. The price is unbeatable ($70 bucks with tax included for a 12-15 inches bouquet). The floral ladies (Danielle, Noel, and Megan) were super helpful and courteous!!! If you ever need flowers for your wedding, Safeway is the way to go!!! I only gave a star cuz I can't give a zero. My daughter and I shop here at least 3 times a week cuz it's convenient for last minute things. We will NEVER shop here agIn after today's experience! They have new computers and the price on the bottle of wine we always get didn't ring in correctly. The CLERK argued with us and wouldn't honor the correct price. Instead of calling a Manager OR having another employer go and check the price, my dtr left to take a screenshot of their tag. When she got back the lines were too long to wait. Unless you don't mind doing business with stupid uncaring Safeway Staff, I suggest you shop at Winco not 3 minutes from Safeway. I guess they have NO TRAINING or a MANAGER at Safeway. I downloaded this app to write this review. The bakery has amazing sandwiches. Alyssa is very sweet and friendly. This past Valentine's I stopped in to pick up a single rose. There were none insight. I told the employee it was for a friend who had to work, but I still wanted her to feel special. Alyssa gave me the last remaining rose they had. It made my day! My wife refuses to shop here. I only go for two reasons... convenience and their meat quality is better than most other local grocery stores. Their produce is terrible. If possible I would give it a 0 for their produce department. Just across town is Bel Air and Raleys. Both of which have FAR superior vegetables and fruit. The two Safeways in El Dorado Hills also have great produce departments. Not only is the quality VERY bad in Folsom but they are often short on vegetables and fruit too. When getting a decent orange or cucumber is a fifty-fifty shot you know they have issues. They only get the 1 star because of their meat quality. While they too run out of certain things from time to time their beef is usually better than their competitors. read more

I go here to get sandwiches for lunch quite often. I like that they have a Starbucks right next to the Deli so I can grab an iced tea on my way out. The Deli usually makes GREAT sandwiches, and unlike the other sandwich places in town, they pack on the ingredients! A bonus is that after like 7 sandwiches, you get a free one! The only reason I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that sometimes the wait is really long at the Deli during lunch and they bring in people that don't really know howo to make the sandwiches as well when they are busy. I now live out in the middle of nowhere with a somewhat closer Safeway, but I much prefer this one. I've been shopping here every Saturday for 3 years and I've never been disappointed. The checkout staff are always as quick and efficient as they can be, I usually get the same bagger who is very friendly, and the staff around the store always make an effort to say hello and make sure that I'm finding everything okay. I typically try to go early in the morning when it's quiet, and avoid the place at all costs during the weekday evenings and it's usually crowded and full people on their way home from work. The selection of groceries is always great, I don't think I've ever not found something that I've needed, unless it's some exotic food that I wouldn't expect to find there anyway. read more

Everyone at this pharmacy is so nice. It really makes me feel good when each person their recognizes me and starts conversations related to interests we talked about before. One time, I needed a suggestion on some OTC medicine for something. The pharmacist stopped what he was doing, came out, showed me the different medicines on the shelf, explained the differences between each, and helped me pick out the best one. Stopped by this location to buy a pack of trulys, shelf price was listed at $17.99 but was charged $22.00 even with a club card and when I asked why the cashier explained that club member must have the mobile app in order to get discounts which I have never heard of at any other Safeway locations.
