This review is for the Deli section only. On St. Patrick's Day I placed a last-minute order for 16 Corned Beef Sandwiches. I had called all over town and nobody else was selling them except a well-known sandwich place selling them for $20, and we didn't have that kind of budget. The lady named Diamond wasn't fazed at all when I ordered 16. She made the order with a smile and friendly conversation and they were outstanding sandwiches. I left for awhile to shop while she made them, and when I returned, some more co-workers were behind the counter nearby her station and they were bragging about how well she had handled the order. It looked like a nice team interaction. Please give kudos to the lady named Diamond, and also to the decision makers for choosing to sell Corned Beef Sandwiches on St. Patrick's Day, unlike the rest of Fairfield businesses! read more

Safeway is... fine. Customer service has always been solid whenever I go, but the store itself can be frustrating. Aside from the self-checkout lanes, they usually only have one or two cashiers working -- even during the busiest times of day. And it does get super busy once school and work let out, especially since this is basically the only grocery store in the Cordelia/Green Valley area (unless you count Costco). They keep building more and more housing around here, but the staffing never seems to increase. My advice: shop during off-hours. Early morning or late at night is your best bet. Or just do what I do and order through the app. The Drive Up & Go service has always been convenient for me. The only downside is the people who park in the designated pickup spots even when they're not picking up an order. There are tons of regular parking spots, so why they do this is beyond me. My other gripe: they are always out of Cherry Dr Pepper and Blackberry Dr Pepper. They only ever seem to stock a few cases at a time, and of course they sell out immediately. Clearly they're popular -- just order more! Overall, it's an okay store with good staff but some frustrating operational issues. read more

Carlo is back as the Manager od Business center branch, and he was moved to Sonoma for few years now and happy to see him back even for couple of weeks only. When he is around, he makes sure this location has all the stocks and inventories.. Workers there especially cashiers love him. I love to see no space shelves and fresher produce everytime Carlo is in charge.. I think he needs to train his stockers more and not busy themselves just taking long breaks outside.. read more

My review is for the added security measures only: I've been going to the store for about six years now. I do consider the Store to be relatively clean compared to others, but my one big pet peeve is the fact that I've seen people leave without paying. The Deli is located close to the entrance. I have seen people order a sandwich and leave through the common entrance/egress location, which is located just a few feet from the doors. This same location, which is near aisle four, provides an easy exit when leaving the bathroom; from aisle four, you can inconspicuously walk straight out to the parking lot, bypassing all the registers. I've seen people use this aisle to leave the store with a bag of groceries in their hand or even a cart full of groceries, with no bags whatsoever. I complained to the management a few times, to no avail. Well, it looks like they finally put in guard rails that only allow you to enter the store. You must exit through one of the checkout stands. Glad this was finally done, but it probably took a noticeable loss in revenue or someone's job being on the line, before anyone noticed. read more

This Safeway is terrible. Checkers literally run your entire order without bagging then give attitude while they actually do bag at the end. They also regularly engage in gossip with each other while putting an order through - I'm talking Adult checkers with this poor customer service mentality on the regular. We're paying Safeway prices here, not Foodmax or Walmart grocery. Please just do your job. We will not shop here unless it's an absolute emergency situation here on out. read more

I had an interview and needed to get some things for the weekend so I shot over the freeway and hit up Safeway for their ribeye sale! This store is clean, organized and I don't feel uncomfortable in the parking lot like I do in Vallejo. I was able to get everything I needed and then some in under 20 minutes. Pro tip: There is a discount rack near the milk in the little alcove that I found some amazing things on! (Cookies, cinnamon rolls, rice crispy treats) I highly recommend this Safeway if you are looking for thick steaks also! went to the Western Union area and waited for assistance, but unfortunately the experience wasn't great. An employee walked into the area where I was standing, clearly saw me waiting, but didn't acknowledge me or even say that someone would be available to help. No greeting, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. A simple acknowledgment would've made a big difference. Hoping customer service improves, especially in areas where people need guidance or support. read more

Don't shop here! Shiftless staff, don't pack your groceries right. Leave stuff out of the bag. Go back for a refund and no apology for being incompetent and LAZY! Every time I go here I get overcharged I have to go back to get my money back and I'm not the only person everyone complains about that. Homeless people are always in the parking lot and panhandlers are their constantly they decided to put locks on the cart so when you draw when you go to your car, your cart locks up And it usually happens before you get to your carts Littered in the parking lot and spaces where you can't drive into I don't know who that was. They should've made the perimeter further than what they did. I don't know how anyone can go there and buy all the groceries. Their prices are astronomical. Do not shop here! I have been dealing with this store for a couple of months trying to get my refund for some Lei's I ordered for curbside pick up and was told it was sold out right before I went to pick up but was charged $71.00. I made numerous attempts to obtain a refund but no luck. I also file a dispute for the charges through my bank and no luck. You would think Safeway would treat their customers better especially during this economy. I will never shop at Safeway anymore. I will also tell my friends and family to stop shopping Safeway. The deli customer service is awful and continues to get worse. Trying to get assistance and catch an employees attention for help in the deli is next to impossible. The majority of the deli staff stands behind the counter talking amongst each other and won't bother to look up and acknowledge the customer and say they will be right with them. Most of the the deli staff appear miserable and hate their job- not my fault! Go get another job if you aren't happy!!! There is one employee that started working there about 6 mos ago that has an excellent attitude and great customer service but I think she was probably brought down by her miserable coworkers and has since left. If they can't hire pleasant employees that want to work, it would be nice if the deli could cut and package fresh deli meat daily and stock the self service cold cuts like other Safeway's do each day, but instead the Boars Head precut selection is either empty or a day or two old! This is the only grocery store in the area and sadly it continues to go down hill. Come on Safeway, get rid of the unmotivated lazy workers that are like a virus at this store and hire people with better attitudes that appreciate a good job and know what customer service means! read more

This Safeway location lands somewhere right in the middle of the scale... There's always parking spots available, the aisle's are pretty organized and they actually carry some items that aren't easy to find elsewhere ... The staff have always been friendly during interactions, but then again, personally I am quite goal oriented when I'm getting groceries and I know I'm not there to hang out and make friends & they are working too... it's not a social club. The fact that the selection of certain items, like organic XYZ, is low or not great shouldn't come to a shock to anyone... I don't really know why you'd expect Whole Foods or Nugget Market quality at a Safeway. For me, the overall experience shopping there gets spoiled by a few reasons, firstly the non stop soliciting at the two entrances... it's constant and a bit much. These young guys are there every day and sometimes 3 at a time, when there's only 2 entrances... Maybe try to spread out a bit to the other stores at this "strip mall"... it's too much and is kind of annoying. The other issue, is that very often food is still out on the shelves, which is past its expiration date... every time I shop there I always check the dates and sure enough there's always something that is past the date. Wish I read the reviews first..stopped by on Lunch break to get a sandwich thought I would give them a try, stood at the counter waiting for someone to come up, nothing, after about 7 minutes, the Sushi guy next to the Deli yells they need someone in Deli, and young girl comes out but and older lady who was stacking the shelves behind me finally says "I'll help him", when she had been there the whole time I was waiting and did nothing, I ask for the $9 Meal Deal they have posted, she says I have to get the sandwich listed which is a Salami sandwich, I say fine and she makes the sandwich, ohhhhh sooooo slow!!!!! Lets just say it took at least 15 minutes and while I'm there the line is getting longer and longer and longer! I grab my soda and chips and she goes to ring it up, ask me if a have a Member number, no I dont usually shop at Safeway. She says you must have a member number to get the $9 meal deal otherwise its $14.97, I say OK what do I have to do to get a member number, you have to go to the other side of the store to customer service department to get one, I have already been there 25 minutes of my 30 minute lunch. Safeway is a good store. They keep it clean. They monitor the store temperature and make sure people are well. They try to keep up with the stock. They do get robbed but due to California laws they cannot do anything about it. Prices are good but going up. Products are still good as far as quality. Been going here for the last few years. Workers mostly seem friendly. Generally have things in stock. It really drives me nuts that for the last year or so there are almost never any carts out front. I always have to search the parking lot to find one. There also never seem to be any bags for the produce or meat section. Clean and bright and very well stocked, I popped in before 8am on the weekend to grab two things that I'd forgotten to pack. The store was nicely laid out and certainly ready for the weekend customers with no loose merchandise and neatly stacked produce in the produce department and all the shelves nicely leveled. I work nearby this Safeway so I decided to pick up a Tuna sandwich which happens to be on special for lent $7.00. There are a couple of new young men that works there. One of them proceeded to make my sandwich. I am not sure if these sandwich preparers ever get trained before putting them on the floor. I watched this guy spread my tuna ever so thinly on my sandwich. See picture. I figured oh perhaps because it is cheaper on the special, they may be scrimping on the spread. He proceeded to pack my sandwich and I paid for it at the checkout without looking at the price. Back in the office, I noticed that i paid full price $7.99 and its because this guy used a "Hot Sandwich" sticker, instead of "Special" on it. This is ridiculous, so little tuna and paying extra!!! Good thing he didn't scrimp on my lettuce... The sandwich counter folks needs a lot of training and improvement. There was a lady that worked there who was extremely rude and refused to make my seafood salad sandwich saying you can't get salad to make a sandwich eventhough i have done that countless times before. On another day, there one one older guy that worked there that was making the seafood salad sandwich and placed only half of the weighed salad until I told him he needs to put all of it in, that's the reason why you weigh them first!! And he doubted what I said. Management- please pay attention to your training needs. Service should be your #1 focus to retain customers. Let's just say I needed a birthday cake, balloons, flowers for someone's birthday. Normally I would never wait so last minute to do this, but I wasnt initially in charge of this mission. So anyway I'm out here trying to make this happen, and oh by the way did I mention I needed it THAT DAY?! Yeah, I know.. so I spoke to the Baker that morning whose name I cannot remember (Cherelle? I am from out of town and visiting family and have visited your store 4 times. Today was the first time any of your employees has addressed me or even said hello. I thought that was how you run your store. Keeping it efficient, not talking to your customers to move them in and move them out with out interacting with them. But today I was amazed that your employees actually have manners and customer interaction is not forbidden. Mr. Freedom actually addressed me and acted like he cared about your customers. But then other customers told me that he is one of the reasons they shop at your location. Went to buy a reheat pasta dish for lunch. I bought the first one 2/20/19. Shelf life said good until 2/22/19. Opened up the package there was mold inside.... Went to exchange it the next day. Shelf life also said 2/22/19. Opened up the package and there was mold in that one too.... Ummm no thanks I'm not trying again. Keep the $3.99. I have been a customer for 16 years at this location and have never had a bad encounter. I know the lines can get long and lack of staff at times, but some things we can't control. However, the cashier this evening working L****n (still want to respect name privacy) had zero empathy and a lack of basic customer service skills when going into his lane. OMG the checkout lines here are HORRENDOUS. I was visiting in the area and stopped by to buy some bottled water before heading out on my wine country tour on a Saturday morning around 10 am. The store was busy (it's a Saturday so of course it's busy!) but there were only TWO checkout lanes open. What? What kind of manager only schedules two lanes to be open on one of the busiest grocery shopping days of the week? To add insult to injury, there are huge signs posted above every register stating that if there are 3 or more customers in line, a new lane will be open. It was laughable because I counted and I was the sixth customer in line and the other register had 8 people deep. See my photo. I did tweet that photo to Safeway corporate and they responded (they were genuinely concerned) but when chatting with the locals in line with me for nearly 20 minutes, they said the lines are always like this. Adding to the problem is that this store doesn't have any self checkout lines. I hope management will considering putting those in because it does alleviate some of those long lines. Never have anything in stock, fruits always taste old, and overall just never have anything.

This Safeway is the worst. Half the time they are out of stock on basic things, they no longer use paper bags when all other grocery stores do, and their employees are the least helpful. They are constantly moving products, and nobody can seem to help you find anything when asked. They look at you with a blank stare and say "I don't know"... maybe pointing me in the direction of someone that does know would be helpful. Now I can understand if they were busy, but anytime I have asked an employee for help finding a product, or just help at all, it is not during a busy time. There are the few helpful and nice employees that work there still but they are dwindling. I am thankful for their cheery attitudes, but a majority of the time most of them are grumpy, rude, lazy, or all of the above. read more

So, I've been shopping at this Safeway for years, and I have never been treated so badly until today. When I got to the register, cashier(Mikaela)left to borrow a key. When she was done with the keycard she yelled at a staff who was passing by her register to return the key back, throwing it to him, hitting him on his face, coz it seemed like the staff didn't hear Mikaela. I wasn't also asked if I needed any bags, so I asked for 2 bags. She filled 1 bag,tossed the other bag to me and said "there's the other bag", then started helping the next person in line while I was still bagging my groceries on the counter. I nvr thought I would write a review for a grocery store, but I feel that this experience is one that I had to write about, hoping that this cashier can get more training of how to treat customers and fellow staff with respect. read more

I havent't been to the Safeway deli in a while so I thought I'd give it a try for lunch. The deli was quite empty and I ordered a simple tuna sandwich on a roll with lettuce, onions & pepperocinis. The way the sandwich looked when I opened the package was very disappointing. Tuna all over the paper oozing out of the bread. The bread was smashed too. The photo I've attached is of the sandwich AFTER I tried to clean it up so I could eat it. The rest of the tuna is all over the outside of the paper. read more
