Came in on 2/11/26 for eggs. This supermarket is located on Madison Ave in Fair Oaks, CA. They are open 5am-2am daily and I came especially to buy eggs with a credit card. I've been frequenting this Safeway for a year now. It's always clean and organized. The employees are so nice and happy to help. I don't mind paying extra for the customer service and clean store. The produce here is always so fresh and of the highest quality. Tastes "farm stand fresh." Check out their butcher shop for pre-marinated meats and ready to cook skewers and jalapeño poppers and more. Their meat is super fresh unlike some questionable meat from other stores. It's easy to get everything in one place instead of going to multiple stores. Especially when it comes to specialty items or fresh herbs. read more

This deserves an updated review, on Monday my boyfriend, daughter and I stopped in. I ordered an $8 meal deal at their hot foods counter, General Tso's Chicken, Kale Mango Coconut Salad & Deviled Egg Potato Salad. The chicken was nice and spicy and drool worthy, the kale salad was sweet and bursting with flavor and the potato salad was good! Next time you are at Safeway order this $8 meal deal at their hot foods area and thank me later! I live next to this Safeway so I go there frequently. It's very frustrating and inconvenient that the location of the handheld baskets were moved. They should be made available at the entrance doors. I had to ask staff where I could even find a basket (and I'm sure others have had the same experience). If they aren't made available at entrance then a sign should be put up informing people where to find them upon entrance. Staff shared they moved the location because people were taking them out of the store. If signage was added to self-checkout to return the basket with a actual holder to put the basket back onto then I think that would solve the issues.... Walking in circles is not fun! read more

They have been remodeling the store forever, which makes everything there hard to find. But I could live with that. Because I shop there enough, I kinda know where things are even if they're not in the right spot. My problem is when I got to the checkout line, Paul was the checker in aisle two, and the two women in front of me were talking about how they have Covid IN THEIR HOMES right now. Not being raised by wolves, I asked him to clean the belt because I did not want to have Covid infected groceries. But Paul refused, with Stephanie the manager standing right beside him. Although their prices are somewhat competitive with Raleys this store gets a Zero for Customer Service! There is never anyone at the service desk, although there are plenty of employees standing around, normal wait time to be helped - 10-15 minutes! And when someone does come they are usually quite annoyed at being there! I doubt I will be returning to this store, which makes me sad! Raleys, across the street, will be getting all my business from now on! Unless or until they improve their Customer Service and hire people who actually want to work this store they will probably lose faithful customers like myself! read more

The produce section has been very poor lately. Their avocados have a white film over them but they are still trying to sell those. When I told someone he brought out more avocados, but they were all very ripe too. They have been out of another produce item for several weeks and nobody knows when it's coming back. I called the produce section and informed them of this, and they said they would order more. When I went back a week later, it still wasn't on the shelf so I informed someone and the produce section manager came with the item and restocked it. The bakery has also been out out of their vegan chocolate cake for a few years. I have asked them to bring it back but I'm sure they won't. read more

This store is always been great! I drive all the way to this one because the one around the corner from me isn't as big and is never fully stocked. This store has always been clean! With COVID-19 they have been great about making sure everyone has a freshly sanitize cart. That customers are following the guidelines put in place by the CDC. They even had Toilet paper here. I came back and still no paper bags. The customer in line in front of me asked if they had paper bags and they said no sorry. I let the checkers know that I have been asking in person and online for paper bags for quite some time and the employees sounded sympathetic but they don't know why there aren't paper bags either. Safeway, would you like me to source paper bags for you? I'm sure I could come up with a company who will sell you paper bags. Even the cheapo discount stores have them. Please tell me what the true reason is for lack of paper bags at the store. Is the store manager anti-paper bags? How are you? Dear god the pharmacy is horrific. Don't pain the staff by walking up to the window if you want to be made to feel bad for asking for your medications. We have been getting our refills for our medications here for 2+ years and it has been a steady decline and we have finally had it. Also if you dare to call the pharmacy be prepared to receive more attitude and zero customer service. Our family has a number of different ailments and we very much rely on our medications to get us through our day-to-day lives. This pharmacy is unreliable, inconsistent, and the prices seem to change every time we come in to pick up. We have officially changed to go to Raley's and are finally getting acknowledged as a customer without the glare or attitude. Highly do NOT recommend going here for pharmacy needs. read more

The sandwich deli at this safeway is a nightmare. There was a single person in line ahead of me, getting 2 sandwiches. I also needed 2 sandwiches. I was there for 45 minutes. Explain to me how it takes 45 minutes to make 4 sandwhiches! God forbid you need sandwich meat cut or to get a hot food item because nobody is ever going to help you. You'll see 3 employees behind the counter and you might assume you'd be helped quickly with all those people there, but you'd be wrong. Food great but pharmacy unreliable. Yesterday I walked in for a flu shot and because I'm fighting cancer, the pharmacy tech asked if I wanted my Pfizer booster. I said yes and was in and out. No problem. Today my 76 year old husband went in to get a booster and was turned away by another tech saying he couldn't have one. So we went to a different Safeway in Folsom and he got his booster no problem. There should be better consistency and a nasty pharmacy tech should not be a barrier. read more

I usually love safeway but lately every time I go to this location the staff hover over me when I'm in self check out. At first I figured they were just being nice but at this point it feels like I'm being treated like a thief. I usually shop after I get my kids from school and the last 3 times I feel so out of place and almost unwelcome. Poor business practices. Ad/sale on boneless skinless chicken breasts ran THROUGH today, $1.99 lb. Attempted to find them, butcher said they were all gone because they marked them down to 89 cents a pound this morning to get them gone. I said ad ran through end of today so you are giving a rain check? Butcher said no because they ordered too many and that was the only reason they were on sale (???). I asked why would you mark them down prior to end of ad? He told me to talk to customer service, which I did, no rain checks allowed. I asked how store could do that when "limited quantities available" not listed on ad? She smiled at me and once again was told the only reason they were on sale is because they ordered too many. Recently went in and an employee was yelling about some store drama. Another employee was trying to calm them down but was failing. Bought fruit that was aparantly misproced? (Too cheap) I had no idea, cashier was really condescending- he said it was way too cheap and was making me feel bad for their mislabeled item. Then when I went to Starbucks to get a drink he and a coworker were talking about my purchase is a degrading way. The other day, we bought an item that was marked on sale their 2 day sale. When we pointed it out ($5 difference ~) the cashier said " you must have made a mistake " never went to check, didn't even care. Today I go in there for a couple things and a doughnut for breakfast- well its national doughnut day and at 6:30 no doughnuts on site. Mainly because they don't have good systems in place. When you enter your phone number for your rewards account it does not show a name (just a first name would be enough and wouldn't be a security issue) and simply acknowledges the phone number was entered. Yes, this is the fault of my memory, but I entered my cell and that's not the phone number on our rewards account (under my wife's number). The rewards didn't show up. I was using the self-checkout, which I usually do wherever I go without problems. The lady came over and entered a discount so I got the sale price. I voided one item and she cleared that, too, so I could check out. I didn't see until I got home that I was still charged for the item I didn't get. I had to go back and went to customer service. I showed my receipt and explained what happened. She was holding my receipt and said I should get $2 back. I knew it was supposed to be just over $2, but I didn't want to argue about it. When she gave me the money and the receipt back I saw the amount of $2.25 for the item I didn't get was very clearly printed on the receipt! Why did she only give me $2, especially when I had to make a special trip to get the refund? She should have offered me $3 or $5 or something for the fact I had to return because I was overcharged!! trashy grocery store. the exterior decor looks decent but that's the only good thing I could think of. this place attracts a lot of undesirable customers, i've seen weird stuff going on in the parking lot and cars never stop for pedestrians. also almost everyone is white and it's kind of uncomfortable to shop here if you're a minority. the employees are non-existent and in their own zone, i've never seen one help any customer or have any kind of social interaction. they seem dead inside, which matches the all black uniform they wear. as for the food quality, it's average at best and way overpriced. i've had better grocery store experiences at the orangevale walmart. read more

She is very personable and remembers your whole family. Also, Lorraine on the front end is a delight! She was so sweet to all the customers she talked to!
