Relatively clean, good layout of store, but the employees are a mess. They're extremely rude and unhelpful. Hopefully nobody gets the cashier who slams food into the bag like he's pissed at his life. Maybe I'm unlucky, but I had 2 jars break because of similar employee behavior. Avoid this store at all costs. The lines are also really long. read more

Empty shelves and long lines. Sometimes the line for the express lane goes to the back of the store. Only shop here if you have no other options. read more

Do not go thru the Expess Lane with Rachel as the cashier. I've made this mistake at least 4+ times...shame on me, I know. The result is always the same: opposite of "express". I appreciate her attempts at positive customer service...she's always friendly and goes the extra mile with customer requests. But this is not a quality you want with the Express clerk. And I never see her checking in another lane. Today was the worst. Literally waited for 5 minutes, while other lanes whose by. Ugh. Buyer beware.... read more

Aisles are a bit overcrowded. The worst is that they never have enough checkers. Huge lines form down aisle while they have 2 checkers during the busiest time of the day. All their checkers are friendly but sometimes chat a little too much which slows things down. read more

This is, by far, the worst grocery store I've ever been in! They never have produce. If you go in late, they don't even have the shelfs well stocked! It's only doing business because it's the only grocery in the area. read more

i come here only for the sushi. yes.. i said sushi. what kind of sushi is located in a safeway you ask? THE BEST KIND! Alex and Christina provide a wide variety of fresh rolls and sashimi fit for your craving. they even created rolls with strawberry and mango! raw fish + fresh fruits = weird combo but oh so good! read more

The take out sushis is great, but I don't find many other redeeming qualities at this grocery store. In particular, the checkout lines are nearly always excessively long. If the management would open more lanes they could probably move business through the store more efficiently and attract more customers. Unless I want the sushi, I usually drive across town to Nugget. It costs more, but at least I feel like the folks at Nugget value my time. Their lines are short and they still don't have idle cashiers. read more

Terrible customer service! Especially Jen in produce department. If u have a question avoid her!

ONLY FOR THE SANDWICHES: YOUR SANDWICH MAKERS need some lessons on instructions. Yes, I'm picky, but if I'm paying $5.49 for a fricking cold sandwich, it better be good and just right. Anyways, so this is my THIRD time at this particular safeway deli thing-a-ma-bob and let me just say, the first time, ok. At least they got the order right, the second time, holy macaroni, you followed the instructions but there was an improper ordering of placing the items on the sandwich.... cheese on the sauce.... are you kidding me... lettuce first! I've never seen a person in all my years at Safeways, make a sandwich in that strange order. And did everything shrink it portions or is it just me? No, it shrunk. The attitude stinks and the third time I went, they put the wrong amount of sauce on the bread.... are you kidding me, that's disgusting and everything is add $0.50 now so I say, subway or anything else, just don't get the sandwiches. Plus, the breads, you're EXTREMELY limited now. Don't do it people!! You've been warned! read more

this Safeway is the WORST Safeway store i have ever been to. i'm relatively sure they don't have any manager there. it's really busy there at night hours and there are always long lines and long waits....the other Safeway in Davis is so well staffed but this location is the complete opposite! the worst service ever....no manager and always understaffed...plus the only Safeway with no self checkout area... NONE! if you like waiting 25 minutes to buy a couple of items go here, i know i wont.... read more

great food, a nice layout, and everything looks really clean. also its great if you live nearby, since there's plenty of bike parking and such read more

This is probably the worst Safeway I've ever been to. I will travel 10 mins more to go to ANY other grocery store in Davis. Horrible customer service, Checkers that act annoyed that you are trying to buy groceries, never any baskets at the doors, expired food in the deli section. The only 2 people that save this place is the kind lady who makes the Chinese food at the Hot counter and Matt the bagger (the hardest working person there). read more

This is a good place to shop and get your basics: it's cheaper than the Nugget and better quality than Save-Mart. They just remodeled this location and it looks a lot better now. read more

What I love about this Safeway is the sushi being made fresh daily. The Chinese man really knows how to make the rice so perfectly not too sour or undercooked. Although their prices up gone up a little bit, but not the consistency. I've eaten sushi at other Safeways in the bay areas, not the same as here. Satisfy my cravings for sushi every time and reasonable price too. read more

TERRIBLE checkout layout. I wont go back until they address problem. Lines are backed up into aisle ways as there is insufficient space to check out. They need more cashiers and U-Scan self service stations too. Dont go there after dinner as every college student in town is in there buying beer and booze and is a free for all trying to check out...TERRIBLE parking as lot is packed! Save-Mart Grocery on corner of Covell and Anderson is just as good and no chaos trying to check out. Easy parking too. read more

during late nights, theres usually only one cashier open, with a line stretching all of the way to the back. once, they made an announcement to open aisle 6, so alot of us lined up for like 15 minutes, but it never opened, and we were ignored. the guy who made the announcement ended his shift and left. hire more staff at night safeway. read more

usually is stocked on most things. would like a more extensive asian selection, but will settle. also, roasted chicken here is bae.

The store is fine, but to be honest... The employees do not seem very happy here. They are all on the edge of being impolite, are often rude to each other in front of customers and seem totally stressed. I recently called intothe store to see if they had an offbeat item and it rang for several cycles... meaning I waited about 7 minutes on the phone... which is fine, I understand they are busy, but when the guy picked up the phone, he was unbelievably rude. I asked him if he had time to look something up for me or if he could run and see if they had an item on the floor. He abruptly interrupted me and said "WHO IS THIS?" .. I replied... "Umm. A customer." then I asked him again and he obliviously and rudely said "My floor? What is it that you want". How can someone who works in customer service not know that the front part of the store is called the floor??? Very very rude exchange. I do not think I will be coming back here. Too bad... It's so close to my house :( read more
