If you bring up products to the register and you're surprised that it's wayyy over priced (price tag was not labeled on the shelf), the store clerk makes you put back everything yourself. He was like "Where did you get that from"? and I said "Oh over there" and pointed to the aisle, and he said "Put it back." AND this was mid-transaction with a different item I purchased. Do NOT come here. The man that runs/owns the store that always works as cashier is absolutely horrible. He screamed at me when I was trying to buy beer one time because he claimed I was buying it for a minor, even though it was for myself (I am of age). He threatened to call the police and told me to shut up. As a girl, I genuinely felt unsafe to even walk to my car afterwards because I thought he was going to go chasing after me and hurt me or key my car. It's sad that this is the only convenience store in downtown Davis. Before Whole Foods closed, I never had to go here, but now it's the only place to get emergency toilet paper or ice unless you are willing to drive somewhere. Why does such a nice little town have such an awful corner store? It's dirty and sparse. They have half the inventory the space could hold, so it always seems empty, like it's about to close down. And you can never find items you would typically get from a 7-11 or am/pm. Watch the expiration dates, because things stay on the shelves way too long. Watch for damaged or open packages. Also beware: The clerks have really bad attitudes and will deliberately try to shortchange you every chance they get. In fact, just stay away. Get in the car and go somewhere else. read more

We would then walk to the local party, brown bagging our beverages, and every girl wanted to take a sip from what I was brown bagging (drinking). The best part was that I could reuse the bag later. My friend wanted a Redbull so we walked over to this little janky liquor store (open 24 hours) across the street from Black Bear Diner. She changed her mind and decided to get some coffee instead. Thinking it was a self-serve coffee machine, my friend pressed a button, to which the store owner/clerk approached her and started yelling at her, saying things like "What are you doing?? What are you even thinking?? Why do you not even think to ask me first??!" while pointing to his head as if my friend had a problem. Seriously bro? Chill out - it was an honest mistake. There was no need to scream at her. Aside from the terrible service, everything is overpriced and probably past its best-by date (I'm looking at you, Cherry Coke). The one time that I did find unexpired soda, it came out flat (how??!). If you really don't care for service, prices or quality, then this place is definitely "fast and easy" and super sleazy. read more

I won't go into details about what the college crowd calls this place (It rhymes with "easy" and consequently also insinuates one might be..ok ok ok we call it the fast&sleazy) but it is nonetheless a staple when you're on or near campus and need to grab whatever your vice (Beer, Wine, Smokes, Energy Drinks.. King Boss, Little Boss, & Purple-Lipped Boss are the 3 guys who run this place, if you have been, you may understand what I mean... This place is first degree price discrimination at it's finest. The big hairy guy, King Boss, who I am assuming is the owner because he is there 24/7, loves to make prices up. No price tags will be found in this establishment and depending upon the temprature outside, or how much he is sweating all over the counter, the prices seem to rise or fall. Still it is the best place if you live downtown to get a late night 40oz or some Peanut M&M's. The cashier is aggressive and impossible to communicate with. I went to go buy cigarettes and he accused me of being a police officer and proceeds to argue with me. There are different ways to handle this situation, rather than calmly explain why he can't sell me the cigarettes he starts to shout accusations at me. Store does not look clean, or products shelved properly. My story started with trying to buy cigarettes. I am 22 years old, with valid drivers license, and a debit card. I went to cashier desk, and waited until the employer would come up He bluntly stayed and was reading his book/brochure, cannot say for sure.Then, i asked to purchase the tobacco product. Employer took my credit card, scanned a product and then asked for my photo ID. I presented my valid state photo ID with no hesitation , proving my identity and Photo. He looked at my id, went to the back of the store/corner. He came back saying "This is not a valid/fake ID, i have tons of them in the back, do you have another photo ID?" i answered with "No, but, this IS a legal my identification card issued by DMV. " In response i got :"I cant sell you this.", I left the store, to get my United States passport, and asked a friend to come with me. Entering the store, the same employer gave me dimming look. At the counter, i asked for the same pack of cigarettes , presenting my US Passport and my valid State Photo ID. Employer, did not looked at them, and reached for the pack of cigarettes . I told him in calm voice or sarcasm ,following: "I didn't know that stores require two forms of photo identification" The employer became angered and raised his voice, saying that " he will not sell me anything in the store and that i need to get out of the store. I don't want to sell you cigarettes because I DON'T LIKE HOW YOU LOOK" at front of other customers and my friend. In response, i asked if could manager ,or his supervisor. Then i asked for employer complaint form ,or survey i can fill out. At that, he said " He will kick me out of the store" . Of course, i had to leave the premises.
