Floral Arrangement
Sylvia B.

This review is long overdue. My mom passed away earlier this year and I went to the Safeway floral department to see if they could make me a floral arrangement that would center around an urn. The floral department manger was so kind and sympathetic to my situation and promised to make me the most beautiful floral arrangement. A couple weeks later I went to pick up the flowers right before my mom's memorial service and I blown away at how incredibly beautiful the flowers really were. They were my mom's favorite colors and she would have loved them. Thank you for making me feel heard in one of the most difficult periods of my life.

Every morning there's puddles of contaminated water in the cold storage bins.

Excellent information to know about your local Grocers! Like, how often does the raw meat you order for next day pick up sit in a cart unmonitored? (Answer: Daily, from 1-3am, as that's usually the first product department pulled from, with different raw meats like chicken and fish stacked together, while the staff collect upwards of 200 additional items, while the raw foods just...sit.....) How often do they wash the bins they use for online orders? (In almost 2 months, about 5 food delivery totes got washed, as far as anyone could keep track of. Primarily as a result of sodas or milk bursting open on the production line. Nothing besides large liquid volumes or pest invasions by flying ants and mayflies seems to merit attention.) Is there cross contamination? (In an effort to meet ever faster goals for no additional compensation, many of their desperate minimum wage employees have been seen putting raw meats and ubagged produce together, into the same bins at the same time, and not ever sterilizing those bins). Are your groceries damp? (The cold bins are left sitting overnight, full of condensation left over from the ice packs, day, after day, after day, rarely ever sterilized. Supposedly they do a large scale decontamination occasionally, but no employees seemed to know when it was last done. At minimum, it was over 2 months ago, given the duration of time the company was observed.) Do all employees sterilize the cart they set your food products on? Probably not. (Those who did were frequently disgusted by the near perpetual black dust from the foam cold bins breaking down. It covers everything, and SHOULD inherently mandate full daily disinfection. I pray for the employees and customers being exposed, as they did not disclose whether the bin materials dusting everything were carcinogenic.) How often do their employees wash their hands? (While none can attest to the bathroom visits of others, only 4 staff members appeared to ever use the break room sink at any point on shift. Employees have frequently been observed going on their breaks, eating, then going back to work-no washing at all.) Their night stalkers frequently finish their 10 minute smoke break, throw their cigarette butts out, then immediately go back to handling products. A horrifying breach of sanitation protocols that went unaddressed. Do their employees drop ice packs on the production floor (which is NOT ever cleaned with bleach, as supposedly their industrial grade equipment cannot tolerate neither bleach nor standing water). Routinely. Do they stick them back in the bins with your food? Absolutely! What about the ice packs, independent of accidents, being cleaned after general use? Nope! Same story as when they get dropped, but with extra bits of frozen parsley and cilantro instead of "floor spices"! Be cautious friends! Some companies only pretend to be up to standard and may not be as "Safe" as they'd like you to believe...

When you need a good wine- go here. Sterling Cabernet Sauvignon- ooh la la. It's not crowded, customers were civilized, adhere to social distancing. The supermarket is clean and cashier very friendly. Shelves were stocked. We got the wine, cheesecake and carrot cake. Go here when you need bakery, ready made/hot food and good wine. Meiome is our fave of faves but sterling is our 2nd best. Try it. Happy, Happy Birthday bae. Bought jumbo shrimps, clams, mussels, Dungeness crabs to make cioppino. Along with Kendall Jackson. & German chocolate cake. Plus, seafood broth, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, fennel and French bread. Dinner came out good. Thank you Safeway. The seafood was fresh. Cioppino came out perfect. He loves it, I loved ot Last night was MeoiMe, key lime pie and shrimps Alfredo day. That's our first time trying this wine. Oh so fine. I love reds especially merlot but this Pinot noir is really something special. Very pleasant aroma, the first sip after yoga swirl and swish a lik' in your mouth you get a hint of strawberry. Take a sniff and you catch mocha... almost chocolatey/coffee hint. Take another sip some other berries ie. Apricot, Bosenberries/blueberries, blackberries appears in your palette... almost oak-y but delectable. Take another sniff of the aroma... you'll detect vanilla. Just an excellent wine for $16++. I cleared my tastebud first after the beautiful dinner my boyfriend made- shrimp Alfredo and the slice of frozen (yes frozen but it was oh so good), key lime pie. Not a lot people last night, but we walk out fast. No lines just plain browsing over wine, grab one and the other things needed. Expired beef patties aren't exciting. We bought the bag of Safeway beef patties the day before yesterday and decided to grill 'em yesterday. My partner in crime prep my grill and chicken hen he opened the bag, the meat had freezer burn. It was t red nor pinky just dull cold beef patties. We brought it back to Safeway. Asked one of cashier to call the manager over. She came. Didn't greet us, not let us know her name. Didn't ask if we wanted a refund nor apologize. Has customer service gone down the drain especially if you're supervising the store? We just wanted a replacement. I have to ask if we could just walk out with the new bag of patties. She said, "we saw you coming in with a bag of those"... I'm not upset or anything, just a lil' weird out that the manager lacks customer service. Not even a smile. Headed back to my place, we grilled those patties. I prefer Harris ranch, thicker, taste fresher. One thing all businesses that service customers- customer service is no.1 most important thing.

Beautiful store on Hazel & Madison. Too bad the parking lot is so DARK. Instead of wasting $$$ with that "eternal fire", they should brighten up the tree covered parking lot that's somewhat SPOOKY!!

This is a shout out for the best bakery for Safeway! The decorators did an incredible job on the cake. Perfect example 10 out of 10!

This Safeway has the worst veggies/fruit. Their bread always seems kind of hard. I prefer the Greenback location.

And this is based…read morestrictly on many factors including customer service, availability of food/merchandise, and cleanliness of the store. However, this "Walmart Neighborhood Market" located in the heart of the Sunrise Marketplace in Citrus Heights is fairly decent as I've actually been able to pick up my standard foods while making my shopping experience a positive one. I don't come to this location often since I live closer to the bigger one on Auburn Blvd. but if I am doing shopping in this area, I will come by to pick up a few things. To those that don't know this, their Neighborhood Market locations are trimmed-down versions of their Supercenters and are dedicated supermarkets that don't offer apparel, electronics, home decor, toys, office supplies, and a pharmacy. They do offer much of what you'd find in a typical grocery store including medicine, cosmetics, pet food, greeting cards, toiletries, and household products. The parking lot is quite spacious as the store itself is close to a "Noodles & Company" as well as a "Cost Plus". Additionally, this location offers a very convenient grocery pickup area (at the rear of the building). Finally, the offer generous hours of operation being opened 7 days a week from 6am-10:30pm and even open on major holidays. As convenient as this location might be, I will say that there are several food items I don't usually purchase here. Most notably the produce can truly be hit or miss as you can find much fresher fruits and veggies at nearby "Sprouts" (at Sunrise/Greenback) and "Trader Joes" (at Sunrise/Madison). I also wanted to point out that the meat/seafood is not of the highest quality. For many people, the food choices here are just fine so it really depends on personal preference. Finally, the overall temperature of this store is downright cold. I think they keep the internal setting at 64°F and when you get to the refrigerated section, it feels like 55°F. The cold doesn't bother me much but to some, it may not be a pleasant shopping experience. All in all, the Citrus Heights "Walmart Neighborhood Market" is average at-best. I've always found the checkout lanes to be fairly quick with a generous amount of self checkout lanes. Their public restroom is located at the rear of the store while the customer service area moves fairly quickly. With that said and done, I am giving this a 3-star rating.

The girl said they would look at the cameras tomorrow. She said someone would call me. I didn't get a call. I called a few times. I went in and spoke to someone who actually made an effort to look in the machine. I went back again. The girl that took a photo of my receipt said she had to see my receipt. why did she take a photo? I don't like people telling me they will help, when they have no intention of helping. I had my receipt. Hey next time say I have better things to do than help you. There are a few options of other food stores. Walmart I buy 80% of my food here. I buy all my pets food and toys here. now it will be less than 25%. I would rather spend more money elsewhere than shop at this Neighborhood Market. It's not about money it's about the principle.

Love the layout of this Trader Joe's!…read more As usual there were a lot of shoppers in Trader Joe's. But it did not feel crowded even though I visited on a popular shopping day and time. If I were at my Folsom, Trader Joe's, I would be shoulder to shoulder with shoppers :-). The store was well stocked. Except for cottage cheese. I have found Folsom Trader Joe's to routinely be out of cottage cheese also. It is the best tasting cottage cheese I have ever had. I guess a lot of people feel the same. Additionally, this area, like Folsom and surrounding nearby areas, is experiencing a large population explosion. And I am sure it is a challenge to keep shelves filled. When I checked out, I asked about the seemingly different layout of this particular TJ and the chronic cottage cheese shortage. The checker said that cottage cheese disappears so fast they're only allowed to put out one pallet a day. And he confirmed that the layout is different than most Trader Joe's because they have a very creative, awesome manager who is really good at those type of things! I drove out to this specific Safeway in hopes of maybe finding a fresh strawberry shortcake cup,…read moresince the ones at the Safeway in Folsom had barely any strawberries on them. I didn't find any of these, because they were sold out. They were also sold out of acai and various other fruit cups, which is good, because it means they're popular. I ended up grabbing a $6.99 premade rice bowl from the hot wok area, which was just closing down. I also found a mini quince fruit spread. As I was browsing the front of the store, I could hear a woman yelling. The police were called, and ended up taking her outside. As I was watching this go down, I could feel someone staring at me from behind. I turned around to see this guy Steve who I used to wait on at the country club. He used to stare at me that same way when I waited on him, too. I shuddered and hurried to the self checkout line. That man made me feel uncomfortable for years. I was suddenly in a rush to stuff my mouth full of spicy chicken. As I was sitting in my car eating the rice bowl and watching this woman talk her way out of being arrested, a man sped into the parking lot and almost crashed into me. He was there to pick up the screaming lady and children. The cops were letting them off the hook. My rice bowl was pretty good, except the chow mein noodles were a little bland. But it was a pretty good deal for $6.99. What a trip..
