    Burmese Bags
    Cory D.

A Burmese aka Myanmar based grocery store in the heart of Citrus Heights. The prices are high, but understandable considering they're a specialty store for a country in the middle of a coup which has heavy import restrictions. Lots of selections of dried noodles, chips, canned goods, as well as big bags of rice and sweets. Parking is good as its in a dedicated mini-shopping mall. Has white clean floors and walls, it is very comfortable atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and eager to help. My wife speaks Burmese, so no troubles communicating. But also where nice and spoke to me as well a bit in English. Come support local!

Finally an Asian market in Citrus Heights. Always wanted something closer to home then to Drive out south or to Roseville. They have lots to choose from just no fresh produce! Very clean and staff is very friendly. They had exactly what I needed for my Sinigang! Thanks Rangoon!

Yesterday I saw this market and dashed in for a quart of milk. Hello to the fresh sturgeon steaks that called my name. My favorite fish is very hard to find and super expensive. These steaks per pound seemed way cheaper than any other meat or fish since this economy jumped into the handbasket. The sturgeon was delicious grilled and seasoned with a little duck fat oil amd lemon. I also got some enormous thick loin lamb chops and some veal stew to make my mother's fabulous veal saute (on the stove as we speak) recipe. They had real almond macaroons and an amazing assortment of Ukrainian, Russian, and Armenian delicacies and staples. Staff was friendly and answered my nosy questions; check out was easy and uncrowded. Worth a trip.

About ten years ago I applied to work here. A friend of mine was hired with no cashier or…read morecustomer-service experience; she told me the owner was a little too friendly and even asked if she was single. I thought nothing of it. When I came in for my interview, the owner flat out, asked whether I was married. I found that question odd and said I was married. After that, the interview felt over, he didn't ask any more questions about my experience or anything at all in fact. He took a phone call, paced around while talking, didn't tell me to wait, and then opened the door as if I should leave. I tried to hand him my résumé; he only nodded and didn't take it, so I left it on his desk and walked away. He never called me back, which didn't surprise me. My friend later said that once he found out she was engaged he would make passive aggressive jokes about her fiancé, questions like "Who is this fiancé you keep talking about?" or "When's the wedding? It's been a while." She often felt uncomfortable around him. About a month ago I went in to buy a cake. I'm not familiar with Slavic cakes, so I asked to try a piece. The worker let me taste it, and I asked them to cut it in half so I could buy one piece. At other Slavic stores (including this one), unless a cake is sold boxed, they'll cut to size. When she cut it, she then insisted I had to buy both half. I told her I only wanted one; she got irritated and said she'd get in trouble because the leftover half was small. If it's sold only whole, that should have been stated up front when I ask to cut them. I ended up spending about $50, which felt excessive. My aunt was upset too and said the worker had lied and forced me to buy the other half. The store itself is okay. Don't buy the potatoes, they're often rotten or moldy. They always have beets and dill, which is great. I love the hot food staff; they're always sweet, friendly, and patient!

Oriental Market: a Great Local Asian Market in Roseville!…read more This market has always been our go to for filipino ingredients, fish and any asian delicacies or specialty items since they are the only one in our side of town. Parking can be difficult during peak season but most of the time it is ok. Compared to prices in the Philippines, they are overpriced but still consider them to have reasonable pricing in terms of US standard. They mostly have what I needed when craving for Filipino food and delicacies. They have also expanded their products to other asian countries. Staff are mostly welcoming. When you buy fresh fish, you have the option to have it cleaned free of charge (just give tips). Their kitchen has a variety in their menu. My fave back in the days was their BBQ pork belly however they don't serve that now. I also love their fish soup (sinigang na pompano). Basically their food is really good. The selection of produce is impressive, they also have a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood as well as different cuts of meat. In addition, they have a great amount of frozen and canned goods and of course dry goods. It's not only filipinos that patronize them I see a lot of different ethnicity coming in to buy ingredients and their products so that's really good. So if you're looking for an excellent Asian market in our area, look no further than here. July 2026

There is a smaller meat section compared to other Asian supermarkets, but they have the basic beef, pork, and seafood items. They also have a selection of Filipino breads, like pandesal, pan de ube, and cheese rolls. The store is clean, extremely organized, and fully stocked. I personally like roaming through the sauces aisles and ice cream section. There is a hot foods area and a bubble tea shop that I didn't get to check out, but they looked good. Some pantry items and produce are on the pricer side, but you're basically paying for the convenience. If you're in the area and don't want to make the drive to KP Market or Seafood City, I highly recommend shopping at Oriental Market.
