Poorly staffed at all hours and every day. Plan to spend 15-30 minutes checking out because the only have 2-4 cashiers working at most.

I live up the street from this Safeway and will NOT be coming back to this one. The people are friendly enough and helpful for the most part. I would say that all the regular checkout clerks are very accommodating. The problem I have is with management and the new staff. If you plan to come in for the specials on Friday's have a back up plan! I came in at 5 pm for their American sub and there were not any left. I asked how long before more would be made. I was told by an employee that it was going to be a while, a long time because only one person ( ONE ) knew how to make it. MANY times I have stopped by for specials and they have been out. I would not complain if it were later say after 7 or even 6:30 but at 5 there is no excuse. Their bakery is the worst! I ordered a cake for a birthday. It was one of their regular cakes and I just wanted to have one ready for a specific day with "Happy Birthday" written on it. When I went to go pick it up no one was in the bakery ( it was around noon on a Saturday). T I told one of the employees walking around that I needed to pick up an order - he paged someone and after 10 min I just left! In the last year I have at least a half a dozen times left without purchasing anything because no one would help me or they were out of one or more items. I will not be going back sorry to say. If this store does not get its act together They will not be around. Things are getting tough and customer service and well stocked departments will make or break a store. Too bad because there are a lot of really nice and competent people there, they are just not in charge. read more

Apparently their new thing during this Covid 19 crisis is to scream at senior citizens and publicly shame them...and I'm speaking specifically about the lady with one arm. When I pulled in to park this morning she was screaming at some lady in the parking lot...something about hot water. I went ahead and went into the store only to witness her screaming at another senior citizen "I don't make the rules I just ENFORCE them." What a scene and totally uncalled for as he was was just trying to buy some toilet paper. I've shopped at this particular Safeway for 20+ years and will never go back, Bel Air is just across the street and they will now have ALL of my business. The one armed lady has to go. Tonight 9-12-2020 try to pump gas there was no one at the kiosk except Dylan the attendant who refuse to take my 100 bucks for gas all becouse I didnt have a mask i understand the hole issue with covid bs but I have a doctor's note where explaining my Medical l condition of why I cant wear a mask eaven after I told him that he refuse service his own words multiple times were "i dont care I'm refusing service" disrespectful bastard he never says thank you or please I been shopping at this store for 17 years and ever since James the manager left this store has turned in to a shit hole all the employees are rude assholes I'm never shopping here EVER AGAIN I hope corporate can reach out to me now spend your money here read more

Prices are a little higher than other places . Fruits and vegetables are fresh. They are long waiting lines and less staff to support the customers. Long waiting line on customer service desk too. I hope they solve this issue. read more

Worst service ever. Deli guy just completely ignored me and kept helping people as they walked up after me. Never said a thing to me like," be with you in a minute."Finally I said something to him and he just replied, I'm the only one here. He needs to be trained up in his customer service skills. I love Safeway gas! I only wish there were more locations so I don't have to drive so far to use my points. I was able to get 50 cents off per gallon and just pay $1.66! There are enough pumps so I was able to just pull right in and not wait in line for other cars. read more

Every single time I come here without fail the customer service is terrible. This place has wait times in their checkout lines to rival Walmart but at least Walmart has self-checkout. Employees will regularly move away from the cashiers station to have chats with eachother. Quality of food is comparable to Bel Air and is only slightly cheaper, not really worth the extra time you will spend waiting or poor customer service but to be honest the service at the Bel Air across the street isn't much better (but they too have self checkout so you can avoid that problem entirely). I wish there was a Nugget near by TBH, a little pricey but I have never been in one where I was disappointed with quality of service or product. read more

Pretty much the worst Safeway I've ever been to. Lines are miles long and apparently all the carts have been stolen? I had to walk around the store to find one. Save some time and head over to Bel Air, Savemart down the street or better yet take a little drive over to Trader Joe's. read more

This gets 2 stars only because it is a Safeway and I love the discounts I get using my card. The good: Cashiers are friendly once you are actually in front of them. The Bad: This store is very understaffed (rarely has more than 3 checkstands open), has a poor selection, likes to block the aisles with inventory in the middle of the day, and does not offer self checkout. I was in today and noticed they hung banners by each register, touting their excellent customer service and stating they will open a new register if more than 3 people in line. I had time to read this as I was in the shortest line with 7 people in front of me. All of the other registers had lines of people blocking the main walkway! I would have taken a photo if I'd brought my phone with me. This is why I can't shop there if I'm ever in a hurry. Corporate really needs to do an overhaul here and at least install self checkout lanes. read more

I would LOVE to leave a 0 star review, but the app doesn't let me. My fiancé and I come here almost every damn day, and have only had two bad encounters, but will not be back again. The first time one of the girls in this store left me feeling completely disgusting and judged. Tonight, we had to put my dog down, and I just needed to come get in and get dinner, but I left my card at home. The checker looked at me like I was stupid and talked to me like I was a 5 year old. I was already having a really bad night and she was SO rude that I literally won't ever go back. I'm not going to be treated horribly for an accident. read more

The manager here never schedules enough people. She's trying to save dollars by not employing enough people. If you come here expect to waist 20 minutes Of your life either checking out, or because there's only one person on a Friday afternoon at lunchtime in the deli. The staff is friendly, but the store is severely understaffed. The store often is stocked with items that are past the sell by date or very close to expiration. I prefer buying food that has a shelf life longer than a day or two. The corporate office or management needs to hire more checkers especially on Saturdays or paydays. read more

I hate doing 1 star. No matter how convenient, or cheap, or whatever, don't buy your meat at Safeway. I love BBQ'ing. I've been ripped off so many times at the Safeway meat counter. From steak, pork ribs, to fish. The latest: extremely salty chicken wings. WTF. You dumb ass'. When chicken sits around, it starts to slime. When staff start to think they can fix it, you have problems. Wings don't sell in the winter. They sit around. I thought they looked really good when the wife brought them home. Had people over and cooked my famous wings. Omg. disgustingly salty from an obvious salt bath to remove the slime. They forgot to rinse them. After cooking, it was like eating salt on a bone. Learn from my mistakes. I buy plenty at Safeway, never the meat. The gas is the only thing they have going for them. read more

No wonder people steal food from here! Took me fifteen minutes to buy eggs, dryer sheets, and toothpaste! The checkers are completely inept, the one I unfortunately got stuck with was either still rolling, or coming off a bad night. Came here out of shear convenience, will not be back again. Ps. I have not been a fan of Safeway for a long time. The produce is always rotten (today it happened to be all of the bags of salad tomatoes) and so are most of the employees attitudes. I asked for help today, I just needed to be told which direction to go, I was told no he would have to call someone. I continued my search for assistance and once I found someone I was shown the 1 type of boxed cold pasta to make. At check out the cashier didn't even say hi. He didn't ask how my day was or if I found everything ok. There was no conversation from him. At the end of my small transaction I did get the "you saved this much on your purchase today" mandatory script. All the reasons why I try not to shop here or any Safeway unless absolutely necessary. read more

I am definitely a regular here... I believe this location hands down has the best employees. Everyone is always in a good mood and extremely friendly. I know that lunch time hours can get hectic but the cohesion amongst the staff in the deli allows for wait times to be kept to a minimum. The things I like most is they are always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate customers and they understand what a budget is. I can always count on them to help me save money but still get what I need. the leadership that is provided from their csm Tamera is on point. She is helpful and leads by example. I came to them when everyone else turned my non profit down for a last minute donation and they assisted me with no hassle. I am extremely greatful for my neighborhood Safeway. read more

Have been going to Safeway for awhile now. Love the gas discount! The floral dept is good, with good prices. Safeway has really good prices on their sale ads. They now carry lamb that is really good with no antibiotics, no hormones, etc. The parking lot seems much safer now. I stopped going for awhile because of the pan handling. I used to exclusively shop at safeway but since I moved closer to this one it has prompted me to take my business across tbe street to bel air. There are lines no matter what time of day you go in there and they are constantly out of everything. I avoid this Safeway and go across the street or drive out of my way to another safeway. read more

This review goes out to their amazing employee Shannon! I was going to safeway to shop, and accidentally locked my keys in my car along with my phone and wallet (it was 7am and I hadn't had my caffeine yet!). She came walking out of safeway and I asked if she had her phone on her so I could make a phone call, she said she didn't and allowed my to use the gas stations phone to call my husband. She even looked up the number for AAA for me. Once they were on their way, and I was by my car, my husband had called the store back. She was nice enough to walk out to tell me and let me call him back. She was so helpful with everything and if she wasn't there who knows what would have happened! The lines are always long when I've been here, reason for the loss of star. Though today I came I bought 3 large frozen entrees that were discounted if you bought 3 or more. The regular price came up more than what I remembered it saying at the shelf. Because the line was long behind me I paid it & told the checker I'd double check it and go back to customer service to fix it. I didn't want to be one if those people who held up the line. I checked the shelf & sure enough I was right. They pleasantly gave me the money I over paid at customer service plus a $5 gift card. A pleasant unexpected little bonus. read more

This is our home store. We shop here most. We are cost conscious so we actively shop the sales and belong to just for you. In addition to our card member savings we use the android app for additional savings on things we buy. It takes about 15 minutes to load everything from the app to the card but we save anywhere from 30% to 60%. The staff is very friendly and helpful but I only gave three stars because more often than not there are not enough cashiers. If you are not in a raging hurry try this Safeway. read more

Love the store, staff is friendly. BUT they are very under staffed at all times of the day. The deli usually is out of something or messes the sandwich up. I truly feel bad for the people who work there. I got because it's close to home, but I am considering going to bel-air across the street and pay more because of the co start fail of management not hiring enough people to cover the customer flow. read more
