Disappointing Customer Service Experience I decided to stop by on my way home to pick up a few things for dinner. After dealing with heavy traffic, I really needed to use the restroom before shopping. Unfortunately, the bathrooms required a code, so I approached an employee and politely asked for it. What happened next completely shocked me. Instead of a simple response, the employee threw up her hands, loudly huffed, and snapped that she was too busy and needed a minute. I understand that retail can be stressful, but there is never an excuse to be rude to a customer. The way she handled the situation was completely unprofessional. Clean store that's easy to navigate and easy I'm/out fuel station. I was here at 1PM on a Tuesday. I came for fuel and some groceries. I haven't shopped here in a while due to not really feeling safe in the parking lot and even as I'm entering the store. That wasn't an issue at all today. I stopped to get fuel and really appreciate the layout of their gas station: one way only. It's easy to navigate without the shenanigans that come with the mayhem of all access (I'm looking at you, AMPM on Marconi). The grocery store was easy to navigate. The layout makes sense. Employees were friendly as I maneuvered the store. Greeting me and saying hi. I used the self check-out, something I'm loathe to do as I wish to protect checker jobs AND not provide free labor to the corporations by checking and bagging my own groceries. Anyway, back to my point. I self checked because they only had two checkers in hand and those lines were a bit long. All in all a 9/10. I'll be back. Great prices. Clean and safe store. I go to this Safeway all the time. There has been some lady in the deli (her name is Tanya according to her name badge). I'm not usually one to write reviews but I have had enough of Tanya's poor attitude. She treats customers like we are bothering her by shopping there. She is very short with me and extremely unfriendly. Her facial expression is usually what they call "RBF". Also when I come in to get my sandwich or prepared food, Tanya is always belittling and berating other employees for no good reason. I feel so terrible for them. I don't understand how she still has a job but I am ready to complain to the corporate office. read more

This review is for their unattended gas station. Pump got stuck with my credit card info at 5:30pm on Saturday. Tried to go ask the cashier for help but oddly enough there was a sign that said "Klosed". Called the main Safeway store and asked for assistance but was told nobody could help. This location is very close to my house so I frequently visit. It was particularly busy today, but as I was leaving, I noticed the manager was out getting carts, some people might complain that oh he should've been helping on the registers, but anybody who's worked in retail knows that the last thing Manager wants to be doing is rounding up carts. He easily could have pawned the task off on a cashier and stepped in for them. It was nice to see him out doing whatever needs to be done to keep the store running smoothly. I believe his name is Dylan but I'm not certain. Previously they had obnoxiously loud pages for phone calls but those have subsided and are at a reasonable volume level now. Twice was overcharged for deli Sandwich. There's a sign above the deli,,, Most sandwiches are $8.99. Then I see a sandwich ( fewer choices) for $5.99. So ok,, I could get something in my tummy and save $3 bucks. Go thru checkout,, eat in my car,, before heading to my caregiver job. Look at the receipt. I WAS CHARGED $8.99 Another time, on a sandwich DEAL DAY WHATEVER,,, I got the Z" DEAL" which is supposed to include your SAN/ DRINK/ chips. Nope,,,, all those were separately Rang up. Something to do with the STICKER THAT TELLS THE CLERK WHATS IN THE WRAPPER??? Neither time, did I have time to go have it corrected but I have not been back. This review is strictly for the Starbucks inside this Safeway location. The grocery store itself is great, and I've been shopping here for years. I came in on a weekday morning and the barista was helping the customer in front of me explaining what pastries they had. He wasn't helping me but he seems very helpful in general. However, there was another person behind the counter (not sure if she was a manager or barista or what) but I was standing in line just trying to purchase some cups while she stood there washing her hands and joking around with other co-workers. She didn't acknowledge me much less help me. Just plain rude, and they weren't busy or anything. I ended up going to self checkout and missed out on getting Starbucks rewards because this person was apparently too busy to do her job or even just to tell me someone would be right with me! FILTHY. The front of the store had decaying garbage all around and looked as if it hadn't been swept in several days. Floor inside the store likely FILTHY, didn't look like staff was even mopping up spills. No courtesy clerks at all (about 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon). ONE overworked checker (to her credit, she was trying her best!) on a full-service line, without a courtesy clerk to assist her. One other "less than 15 item" clerk. THREE persons around the "self-service" area, not apparently really doing anything but gabbing with each other. Asked for the front end manager or the store manager, I get responded to by the "Number 3 man" on the floor, who was dismissive and gave the usual "COVID" EXCUSES for failure to properly staff. Plenty of fresh produce, variety and diverse options on items which I like since I've noticed you can't find multiple options on one brand product at most stores. Clean Safeway, parking lot has security walking around, there's always clean sanitized carts ether inside or outside, few great cashiers and some are so so. My overall experience has been good every time and there's a good Starbucks inside. read more

For the record, I don't shop here anymore, but today I needed to get gas and air in my tires. I've already had a lot of bad experiences since the parking lot is full of (sometimes violent) tweakers, but I figured it was 9am and it would be alright. Gas station was fine but there was a car parked with two people doing drugs in it where the air pump is- so they were not the type of people you politely ask to move. They ended up saying some not nice things to me when I tried to get air from the other side. It would have been uncomfortable for just about anyone but as a young woman I definitely felt the need to just get out of there as fast as a possible. I will not be back. Get better security or lose your customers. Corporate should be made aware that this is happening as well. read more

The quality of this store has declined immensely all the organic vegetables are always rotten literally their water hasn't been working for two weeks... there's never any indication as to when it's going to get fixed and I think they charge so much money for their products that they should keep good things and working machinery is in their stores for their customers and not to mention the US Bank that's at this location the employees are so damn rude.. that has nothing to do with Safeway but it's an all together experience and like I said the quality is just declining:( read more

Wow! Did I have a great expert with the deli inside Safeway yesterday. I stopped in to grab some lunch and had the pleasure of being served by a gentleman by the name Oliver. Oliver really had so much personality, Great customer Service, and was even a riddle teller in my short time there. I can tell he really enjoys what he does because it was all in his service. He was friendly, Personable, and very knowledgeable about his fine meats and breads. I don't live in this area but with the service I was provided with I may have to just come out that way simply to see Oliver lol. The store was very clean, they had someone outside sanitizing carts for customers. A lot of stores shelves are all crazy but for some reason this location was very and I mean very organized. I can appreciate that with my OCD problems. I would highly recommend if you live in the Carmichael are to stop in at this Safeway. And please stop by the deli for a funny riddle from my pal Oliver :-) I don't have a picture because I visited yesterday and forgot to give the store the credit the deserve. read more

I didn't think this experience would push me to write this review but when I look back and remember how the checker 'Dayvelle' covered their name tag after they could tell they realized they made me uncomfortable that put me over the edge. After providing me with my receipt the checker felt it was necessary to shout extremely loud the number of gas points that I had available he then proceeded state loudly that (direct quote) I was going to have to give him ' at least 2 of them.' When I told him ' no' he then proceeded to heckle me and ask why I can't give him any because I have so many available !?!? At this point I was feeling extremely awkward and uncomfortable so I looked at my surroundings and this outburst drew everyone's attention !!! I noticed that the five customers behind me we're all staring with surprise at this interaction The checkout line behind me was all also all staring as well including the other checker who was smirking at the spectacle. My feedback for this representative is that he should maintain a higher level of professionalism when interacting with store guests and on the clock.. not everyone and cares to air out their personal private business in front of multiple strangers..asking for usage of my gas points is just unacceptable even if your were joking, it's just not acceptable. This was a poor representation of the Safeway Carmichael store. This review is for Safeway located at the corner of Fair Oaks and Manzanita. Friendly people and good assortment of products. Strange that this Safeway, as well as the one on Madison always seem to have several items that are just not carried for some reason. I don't encounter that at Raley's or the Safeway in Folsom. What do I mean? What if you remember you needed an AC filter for the house and don't want to deal with Home Depot? Safeway does not have it, Rite Aid next door does. Like Blue Diamond Almond Coconut milk? No large ones in the refrigerated section, just Almond. Settle for the small boxes on the shelf. Things like that where I wonder why do they not have that particular thing. All in all an good to above average supermarket, and as others have said they take some time to react when there are too few cashiers and the lines are getting long. Worst butcher ever! Why have a butcher if he will not grind meat per a customer's request? I was in there when it was not too busy about 3pm, on Monday, March 16, 2020. So, I went to Raley's and the butcher not only ground the meat for me, but also helped me pick a choice cut to grind. read more

Don't buy gift cards here they don't work . I bought two $25.00 iTunes Gifts and they were active but when I went to put them on my phone and my mom phone they say they used. I went spoke with manager he say they had fraud gift cards. He call the number gave me a number saying they should contact me with a week . This was in August it October now. Still no one contacted me. I've called no answer left messages, and waiting over hour on phone them got disconnected. I'm out $50 still no answer no response. This is unfair and not acceptable customer service. If they know there fraud going in they should stop selling all gift cards. I found out this I also happened with target gift cards, visa gift cards. This is not fair I want my $50 back. I'm leaving this review to hopefully stop other customers from buying gift cards. read more

This Safeway is fine overall, but really needs a Self Checkout lane. Long lines are always a problem here. And even with their rule of opening more lanes when 3 or more people are in line still makes for long waits. Its frustrating when you just want to pick up one or two items and the checkout process takes so long. Hopefully this store will be updated soon and have self checkout lanes installed. Also, there is a very annoying lack of the hand held baskets to shop with. There is a small stack over by the middle of the store. But they are often not there. And they really should be by the door. I don't want to use a shopping cart to pick up 3 or 4 items. Seems like this store just isn't set up well for people who want to get in and out. I love Safeway in general but usually avoid this one even though its the closest store to my house in Carmichael. read more

The US bank inside of Safeway is convenient, the tellers could be a lot faster tho, but they are nice and helpful too! Now moving on to the store itself. The bag of apples I bought taste off to me and not as fresh and seemed to rot fast, as well as the gallon of milk I purchased, compared to other grocery stores I have shopped at. They often times sell food expired or about to expire, showing that they either don't have enough employees to check the stock or they buy old food at a low cost so customers can get a good deal on their club card. Worst Experience Ever. While I was doing my normal shopping this afternoon, my pregnant wife went to get a Starbucks Drink. After I finish getting my groceries, I find out that she's spend the last 30 minutes getting harassed by the Starbucks folks. Apparently, the Barista was flirting with some dude who didn't even have an order and ignored my wife for the first 10 minutes or so. After my wife asked the dude to put his mask on, the barista brushed her off and apologized to the guy she was flirting with. They then made the drink of the person behind her in line before starting hers (out of spite). They then refused to make her drink, saying that they didn't have the ingredients. After a half hour of waiting and being harassed, they begrudgingly refunded my wife her money. As we were walking away, we heard them say "Drama" and start laughing. Honestly, I don't see how this Safeway gets my business again. read more

Because of the high prices, I only come here to pick up a few things when I stop by the Blockbuster next door. You know, quick runs for bread, milk, etc. Except, it's never quick. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, the lines are crazy long and the cashiers aren't that friendly or helpful. They also don't know their coupon policies and almost didn't take manufacturer's coupons once because they were printed from a computer. Seriously!?! Tonight at 8 on a Sunday, they had ONE line open. It was so slow, the line went straight back from the cashier and curved past three closed registers. And it's like that every freakin' time. One time the backdoor alarm went off and it took so long for an available staff to turn it off, I thought I was going to go deaf from the loud, disorienting noise. I've reached my breaking point with this place. Next time I'll just drive out of my way. It'd probably be quicker, anyways. read more

Why is the Safeway truck with trailer attached driving down Cypress Avenue when there is a 7 ton weight limit posted? Until recent years I see more and commercial trucks including Sysco traveling on Cypress Avenue in the early morning that appear to be over the posted weight limit. I saw the Safeway truck this morning around 5:30am. It's additional wear and tear on roads that were not designed to carry the amount of traffic and weight. Thanks to GPS, traffic is now being funneled down streets not designed for it. I could pull video from my security cameras and forward to the agency that is supposed to enforce this. read more
