Terrible staff that are on autopilot when I am trapped with a homeless person fearing for my life. I bought some food and when I left to put in my car this homeless guy stopped me and asked for money. I don't have cash. And I told him. He asked for a coffee and was walking towards me. I wasn't near my car. He asked for a coffee and I was like okay. so we walked to Starbucks inside the store. And yes I'm including the Starbucks worker in this because she was horrible and did not pick up on distress signals. It was on a Monday around 4 pm. I got the guy a drink and a sandwich. But before that I was stuck in line because the barista was stuck talking to a Safeway worker. I just sat there like girl can you please hurry this up I am in fear for my life. The guy kept standing close to me. But the barista kept talking to her friend and took her time. She finally got my order but just acted without a care. Then the guy wanted Mac and cheese from the store. Like the made stuff in the heated display case. And just my luck there were 2 people in front of me there was a small family, and an older woman. The small family got their food and then the clerk. Who was an older gentleman- was helping the lady before me. And again they both see me standing next to this homeless guy that is orbiting around me. I look so uncomfortable. I am clutching my purse and the older woman keeps staring at us and glancing at us and I'm giving her a look I was staring at her like please help. But she proceeded to take her time to take her order and even the clerk too he was taking his sweet time. He was on auto pilot. He was not working with any kind of urgency or anything like that. I don't know. I'm just a little perturbed because I was in distress. There was a homeless guy who was Talking to himself hitting balloons, basically causing a little bit of a disturbance and he was orbiting around me because he trapped me and I'm just like oh my God someone help. But no everyone just stops and stairs and the workers just have no sense of safety kind of protocol or anything like that. They're just on auto pilot mindless bots. But anyways, he goes to the back and takes five minutes to check on something for her and then that small family from earlier had dropped some of their food so this older woman told the clerk hey they just dropped their food. Can you get them some more food and I'm like dude really. I hope this old woman is reading this. You are a failure to society and to womanhood. As for the clerk, I'm also disappointed in you too when I talk to you, my voice was shaky, and I was scared. And my face was red because I was scared. And then we took the rest of the mac & cheese that was in the pot, and the homeless guy asked me if we could add more, and I told him that that was everything in the pan and then he proceeded to ask the clerk if there was more in the back and the clerk said oh it's gonna be like 30 minutes and then the guy was like OK and I thought that was that but the clerk proceeded to tell him that we have microwavable mac & cheese sitting in this aisle over here, and he kept talking to him, trying to upsell the guy. Like dude what are you trying to upsell this shit's coming out of my pocket. I felt so uncomfortable so displeased and so disturbed that this clerk was trying to tell the guy that he can get more mac & cheese, but it will have to be microwaved and everything. I was just so upset like dude just take the hint. Anyways, I don't like how the workers had no spatial awareness. Unfortunately but fortunately never going back there again. read more

Been using their pharmacy for about 8 years, service is terrible now. I'll be using Costco. I called to check my prescriptions, they said they were finally ready over a day and a half after they'd been called in. I get there, 3 of 4 aren't ready. They said it'd be 45 and they don't have 1. I said I'd wait, pls text me. Sat in my car, almost an hour later I call, she says she just filled 2 for me. I ask if I should come in now, as I'm in the lot, she says yes. I go in, they say they're not ready. I said I just spoke to someone, that person says she told me they weren't ready, now I'm mad. Which I relate to them. Tech checks the bin in front of the idiot I spoke to via phone, lo and behold! My prescriptions she had said that she had just filled, then denied having done! If you want to feel unsafe because there is no security and some very off people talking to themselves wondering the store ... this is the store for you. If you want to feel ignored by the employees... this is definitely the store for you. If you wanna stand in line at self check out for 20 minutes because not one cashier is working... this store for you. If you enjoy shopping around over flowing garbage cans and spilt mystery goo on the floor you will find it here. And if you want to be told "We are doing the best we" while walking away from customer ... they have you covered. Every time I go into this Safeway hoping to pick up a few items real quick, it ends up taking forever because there are only 2 cashiers working the front end. The "Express" lane is generally longer than the regular line with 5 or more customers spilling over into the aisle way. Don't bother using the pharmacy here either. It's an incredibly long wait, just to get customer service (I can't imagine how much longer one would have to wait for a prescription to be filled)! Produce isn't very fresh and the organics expire quickly! Today something horribly wrong happened at Safeway. I was completing my transaction when a very elderly front end clerk gentleman offered to help me to my car. Before I had a chance to thank him kindly, the cashier (a middle aged gray haired woman) yelled at him saying "Where are your Safeway gloves?! You need to wear your Safeway gloves!". The poor old man, who was wearing some other kind of glove regretfully said that his gloves were "at the house", and she barked at him again. Very rude! I felt badly that the old man was ridiculed right in front of customers. He should be respected for getting out and working. read more

The last several weeks it is highly likely that when you walk in there are no carts available. I've seen customers turn around and leave because of it. I've gone out and gotten my own each time I've shopped there. The cashiers keep saying we're short on people. Why aren't the managers even paying attention??? Chronically out of stock on items Walmart and Fred Meyers seem to have no problem obtaining. Grocery pick-up is particularly unacceptable and completely unreliable. The last time I ordered, they forgot to load up 2 bags. They didn't offer to deliver them, just unapologetically said I could either come back and pick them up or they would issue a refund. I was so busy and overwhelmed that day. It was the last thing I had time for but needed some of the forgotten items to make my family dinner, and it was already late. Today they were out of 12 ITEMS that they had listed as available 2 hours before I picked them up. When they brought my bags and loaded them in my car, they didn't mention any items being missing; let alone 12. Again a very busy and overwhelming day and again I needed several of the missing items to make dinner. It's 7pm, I just got home. Everyone is starving. You cannot depend on this store like, at all, most especially for pickup and delivery. If you need this service, try Walmart. Safeway needs to do a work study on Walmart and learn how it's done. First of all, the information reported for this store is kind of inaccurate. This Safeway is technically located in Arlington, not Marysville, although nobody's ever going to know the difference. Well, this place fed me, I guess. I came here on a hasty visit for some high-protein chow one morning. That's what brought me to the deli section of this place. I got a signature cafe breakfast burrito for $2.49 and a signature cafe turkey and havarti toasted sandwich for $5.49. These two items filled my stomach, to say the least. There was nothing exceptional either about my purchases or the store itself, but this is just another generic grocery store in a fairly rural area anyway. Sign says 'Open 24 Hours' but this is not true. Some nights, they randomly close at 9PM. Other nights. It's 10Pm. Still other nights. 11PM, 12AM or 1AM. It's very frustrating if you are a swing shift worker who likes to stop by the store on the way home from work. I tried to get clarification on the hours from the employees and even they admit that they don't know. Would give this place zero stars if I could. Totally incompetent management. UPDATE: 7/19/20 Now they have removed store hours sign from the doors. According to Google, they now close at 1PM, doors are closed at 11:50, so go figure? Manager needs to lose his / her job. Hire someone who is competent enough to use Google UPDATE: 4/8/21 While it seemed that the business hour issue had been corrected in late 2020, it's now an issue again. Sign on door says open until 1AM and door is usually locked at some random point in the late evening. I'll continue to take my business elsewhere. I don't often review unless places are exceptional. And this Safeway is exceptionally crap. They have 7-8 cashier lanes and at most they have 3 cashiers working, even on the busiest days. I'm local, it's my only option and it blows. The management will let the lines get 15-20 people deep with a 15 min wait instead of getting more cashiers up front. Also, when it's busy there is no sense of urgency from anyone. You can be polite and chat but work quick. No one wants to come to the grocery store and wait around for 15 min or more to leave. I decided to stop in on a Tuesday at lunch time and order their "Street tacos", boy that was a huge mistake. Asked the lady if the fish was fried, she said no, we bake it. I ordered 3 fish tacos and opened up the box to reveal only a white person who had never left the state of Washington would call a "Street taco". Flour tortillas with a sweet ketchup sauce, cabbage, pineapple, and a Mf'ing frozen fish stick. You've got to be kidding me. Safe to say, far from authentic, or edible for that matter. Worst bakery experience ever. Cakes were baked fine, but my whole experience with our son's 1st bday cake & smash cake order was beyond TERRIBLE. The only reason I ordered from here rather than Costco was bc I saw the most perfect smash cake in their display a few weeks prior, a red "furry" monster with horns! the women who I ordered with over the phone had no idea how to find that cake in their catalogue or what I was talking about (I had a photo in my phone and knew it was at this Safeway) but she wrote it down (she said). The sheet cake I ordered was to be a half sheet at least, she told me it serves 30 ppl; which was great considering we had 35 ppl coming to this party. My husband picked up the cake(s) the morning of the party, and called me to say "the gal at the bakery wants to know if u want a smash cake too?".... uuuhhh what??? I was so confused. I said "THATS the whole reason we ordered from there, and it's our son's first bday, of COURSE we need a smash cake!". So she had to whip one out real quick (after making a generic one first before I answered my husband's call). Then when he brought these cakes home, I immediately noticed the sheet cake was a tiny 1/4 , NOT 1/2 (two family members who were professional bakers their whole lives, confirmed "yeah, that's not 1/2, that's tiny". Ugh. And the monster didn't look anything like the one I saw there. The bigger cake was made to sort of look like a monster, so basically my order wasn't listened to at all. The gal who my husband dealt with wasn't the idiot who took the order (and didn't write anything down, I was later told) and she felt bad about the smash cake, which are free with cake orders anyway, so she sold it all to my husband for $10. That was nice, but still didn't feed all our guests or make for the adorable smash cake photos we hoped for (our son made up for that though). All in all I would never rely on this bakery for an important event ever again, and I'll be sticking with Costco, or maybe the Arl. safeway... maybe. read more

The floral at this one is also delightful to look at. The produce section is great and I've not seen bad produce yet, but I will say it is a tad bit pricey. I can go over to Walmart and get organic bell peppers for half the cost. I'm very happy with the service there. read more

If you think the Smokey Point Safeway is bad, try the Auburn Safeway, where I have been shopping for thirty-two years. It is all different now. I finally had to quit the pharmacy because the wait was far too long and now I go to Sam's Club. FYI: Federal law permits anyone to purchase their prescriptions at the big box stores, i.e. Costco or Sam's Club, without needing a membership. One last thing about the Safeway culture, "Do not expect a "THANK YOU" from Safeway personnel. You'll just have to settle for a "There You Go" or "Have A Good One" at the check stand. Good manners is not a priority. Gratitude is unthinkable! I use the Auburn Safeway for a "Quick Stop" occasionally for a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk, and do my monthly shopping elsewhere. If I could give the manager named Tina from this Safeway store ZERO stars I would! Earlier this week, I placed an online order with Safeway to be delivered to homeless family members who live in WA. (I live in Oregon) The family was recently able to move into housing and were going to be having a nice Thanksgiving meal together. ~ The online order I placed for them was screwed up and was not delivered at all! With NO call to let me know there was a problem! They waited all day for the order to come. Once we figured out the order was not going to be delivered, I called this store near Marysville to see what we could do~ Online orders come from Lake Stevens, and since the family does not have a car they could not drive to Lake Stevens. Since they live within walking distance from this store I called the store and told them of the problem and that I could give them my credit card over the phone so the family could buy food for their holiday dinner. Tina said "NO", they couldn't take my credit card over the phone & there was nothing she could do to help, and then, when I asked for her last name, she hung up on me! This is my 2nd favorite Safeway. Every time I pass a store employee, they either say hello and/or ask me if I'm finding everything I need. They are great here, very very very professional. The store is clean, you can always find staff if you can't find something or have a question. Depending on the times you go, you may find lines at the check stands. But management is on the ball when it comes to getting the lines down. The downfall, the only one I see is at customer service. It doesn't seem to always be staffed. The wait for the service desk is not long, the employee is generally at a check stand getting the lines down. They ALWAYS acknowledge your presence and let you know that they will be there as soon as they can. Which is fine by me, I appreciate that. read more

It is expensive to shop here but the clerks are friendly and helpful even though this store is generally understaffed. Today, my daughter and I were approached two separate times by men asking for money because they "didn't have gas money" - once in the parking lot as we got out of the car and one was sitting right where we entered the store.
