Safeway Deli in Arlington thinks they can sell raw rotisserie chicken, and overcooked fried chicken that has sat for far too long. They claim it can sit for three hours. Would you let your chicken sit for three hours? This was brought home to me. read more

I was in the store today and I got in line to check out. There was a man checking out in from of me, and there was a basket on the belt. I asked the checker if she was open, she very snippy said the light is on and do you see a closed sign? The man in front of us looked at me and said what the hell....and shook his head. I thought maybe the basket turned side ways was an indication she was closing.....there was no call for that. She isn't the nicest person ever and I will avoid her from now on. I have other options, Safeway isn't the only game in town. read more

It's been around 60 days since I have shopped at this or any other Safeway location(not even to buy gas). April 15th around midnight I had such an upsetting encounter with their staff I refuse to give this company any more money and honestly with their prices I've probably saved quite a bit of money shopping elsewhere. Before getting into what happened I will say I do like the Safeway deli. Great selection and used to be a weekly staple. I know the sushi is not restaurant quality or very bougie but I really enjoyed getting it on occasion. Just in deli visits and gas I probably used to spend $100 a month here. $1200ish annually might not seem like much but it's probably close to a weeks wages for one of their employees which I hope they take into consideration in the future when turning away customers. So the issue... back in April I went in to get some sushi and no sushi. Needed some dill weed and ended up picking up a rotted/liquified package off their produce section that stank and leaked on me. By now I'm upset simply at the state of the store and haven't even encountered an employee yet. I find a few things I want to buy including 4 Core Power protein shakes that were marked as $4.49 and a $1.00 off up to 4 with digital coupon. I hate digital coupons but this was a great deal so for the first time I fought with their app and clipped the coupon. At this point I take my $80 worth of goods up to the self checkout and ring it up and the core power comes up a $1 more per bottle and not on sale. I ask the host to correct the pricing error and she calls up a supervisor who then goes and conducts a price check. The supervisor returns and informs me that they stocked this particular shake in the wrong spot and they won't be honoring the marked price. I already being upset said "you're really going to lose an $80 basket over your own pricing error?" They refused so I walked away. I quickly ran back to do my own price check just to make sure I was crazy and found more of the same product in the same wrong spot so I snapped a photo. The supervisor came down the aisle and I said "you know I can report this to the state attorney general and your store could be fined." She screamed at me down the aisle saying "you're being a jerk just get out!" On my way out the self checkout host was still canceling my transaction and I heard her talking about me with another customer and making fun of me. As soon as she saw me I asked for the Store Managers name and she replied "it's on the receipt." I said "clearly I didn't get one" to which she said "not my problem." I left and haven't been back nor will I ever go back. My question to the Store Manager is how many more regular customers can you afford to lose? You have wages and other business expenses to cover along with a fancy remodel I'm sure you're still paying for. I didn't report this initially because I was so beyond embarrassed. I also did you the curtesy of not reporting to the state. I didn't cuss or raise my voice with your employees and their responses were unprovoked unwarranted and unprofessional. I don't believe any should lose their job but I wonder how many other interactions like this have happened before me or could continue to happen in the future. I live 2 blocks away, it used to so convenient to come here and now I hate that I have to drive by this location every time I leave the house. You get one star by default and the other for the deli sushi I like. read more

Went to customer service to rent a rug Dr. I told them I wanted to rent the machine he pulls out a dirty machine and tells me to not return it all disgusting to make sure to clean the brushes ect. Never ask if I need help to get it to the car or anything. I'm dragging it to door when a checker asks me if I need help. I said that would be nice. She calls someone and the kid tells me he never used one and doesn't know how to handle it. Its falling apart as we get to my car. (I haven't used one either, but I think I should have done it myself because it may not get in my trunk before he has totally dismantled it.) I get it home and have to clean it before I can use it. This store does not know what customer service is. It's like a foreign language to them. Worst yet they don't care. Worst of all its never going to change. read more

customer service is shit! I got judged and profiled. I went in the store in my pajamas, was followed throughout the whole store, mind you (I got of work an hour prior so I'm in comfy clothes) I just went to grab snacks and a pack of Coca Cola. My total was around $60, I bagged and put my receipt in the bag after paying. I go to walk out the store and the older fat lady with glasses who Is working nights decides to leave unattended customers in the store to chase me down and tell me my payment wasn't finished.. she said I got a pack of redbulls and didn't pay for them..how in the world do I have two grocery bags and a pack of coke with my receipt, yet didn't pay for redbulls???? please stop hiring these people who need to be in assisted living! So went today (9-9-21) to get some things in the door saying all.mis wear mask but I see a lot of shopper doesn't have mask but non of employees has say anything come on have guts and tell people need to wear mask like it says posted on the door. This store is so lacking in good customer service they should just have robots working here! Rude women at customer service counter. Prefer human checkers to self serve, but most do not know how to properly bag groceries. Prices are higher than other stores. Remodeling just goes on and on. You can't get an employee to help you find items. The temperature of the store is freezing along with wet/cold carts outside that hurt your hands. Overall a miserable store to shop in! There's maybe 4 actual good employees here. Most of the rest schlep around like zombies. I've been shopping here for 9 years since I moved to Arlington. I didn't think customer service, high prices, out of stock items could get worse after Covid. I was wrong!! read more

I paid 9 dollars for a small container of seafood salad in the deli department . The recipe must have changed to just imitation crab and sauce. Considering the very few grocer options in Arlington, especially now that Haggen's is gone, this is about as good as you're gonna get! Let's review the options: - Wal*Mart - Safeway at Smoke-a-Joint The aforementioned options are located in the filth-ridden Smokey Point shopping complex bordering Marysville. Little is done to keep the riff-raft, drug dealing bums out of the complex. Alas, Safeway uptown is your best bet! Albeit a tad smaller than the Smokey Point Safeway, one can still find most necessities. In general, the site is a heck of a lot cleaner and I'll bet you won't be accosted for "gas money" on your way in-or-out of the store! I have never had a poor experience here. Employees are friendly, service is fast (check-out is faster than Smokey Point), and again MUCH cleaner! read more

This particular Safeway is always out of a lot of things and then just stops caring things that they used to carry. They cater extremely well to carnivores not so much to vegetarian or vegan's. I was almost able to buy their broccoli salad in the deli until I saw that there was bacon in it. It's sad that there's meat in everything and every salad and every wrap. read more

Clean and well maintained with a decent selection of wine and chilled craft beer for a grocery store. I usually have pretty good luck with fresh produce at this location as well but on busy weekends you'll need to dig a little more but not nearly as much as as you would expect to need to at many other stores. Employees are courteous and helpful when engaged and the tax rate here is lower than the Albertsons further west. read more

Super slow checkers....they must not have to check so many items per minute anymore like when I used to work in the grocery store....and the checkers don't know how to use the conveyor belt to bring the items closer to them! I think it's time for a new manager one that can hold their checkers accountable! Poor poor customer service! read more

DO NOT BUY their "Holiday Meals"!!! I assume this goes for all Safeways. I paid $72.97 for the "Spiral Ham Holiday Meal". I assumed it would be the ham and all the sides would be from the deli. I thought they would be boxed up and I would only have to put them in the oven to reheat. This was NOT the case AT ALL!!! Everything came as frozen microwave meals right out of their freezers. The ones you find in the freezer boxes at the front of the store where you can get the deli chicken and soup etc. I had ordered two extra sides and the girl literally walked over to the freezer and grabbed them from there. So basically I had a bunch of microwaved side dishes for my guests. The ham was a regular one that you find with the other hams that you have to cook and takes just as long. These are all things I could have purchased shopping for myself. I am so embarrassed in front of my guests. I chose to pick up the "meal" on Christmas Eve thinking it would be fresh, and like I said, just need some reheating. DO NOT BUY unless you want frozen microwave dinners for Christmas!!! read more

If you like to be ignored and treated like you are the most annoying person on the planet go ahead a shop here! They were out of most the things I needed. Simple things like shampoo and yogurt. I had to hunt down somebody to help me find what I was looking for, and when I found somebody they rolled their eyes and pointed in a general direction and said "over there somewhere". Thanks for nothing. When I finally decided to just give up and buy my things the check stand attendant looked so annoyed and was pretty much throwing my groceries to the bagger who then threw them in my cart. Glad I didn't have any eggs. Needless to say I switched my pharmacy and will never be going back to that Safeway. read more

The bakery is amazing! I called this morning and asked for a rush order for a cake to be named and a cupcake for smashing(1 year old smash cake) because we had an emergency with the cake we were going to make for the party. They helped us find a sheet cake that was close to our theme and gave us a big cupcake as the smash cake! They had it ready in an out and saved our party! read more

I've tried to use their Western Union services a couple times and honestly I don't even know why they are offered or advertised. Couldn't cash a check one time - and not a personal check, but a payroll company check. That was probably in 2012/2013. Far more recently I was looking to purchase a vehicle. Had money wired to Western Union and was set to meet the owner of the vehicle shortly after. Well, they wouldn't cash the give me cash. I tried to come up with other solutions and both the employee and the manager were FAR from helpful. Continued to tell me that all they could give me was checks and I could go cash them at a bank (it was a Sunday). Then told me that I could go to different Western Unions at different Safeway locations and cash one check at each Safeway location (would have taken me at least 6 Safeway stops). Finally called Moneytree and they would cash all the checks at once. Turns out the Safeway employee didn't even sign them all! Had to go back again - completely wasted my time. Again, I don't even know why they offer Western Union services! read more

I'm a Daily shopper at the Arlington Safeway and the checkers are always nice. I have had the Worst experience with Rachel the seafood manager in my life .I returned some bad fish to the customer service counter and she agreed that it was bad and to go to the seafood counter to get it replaced. Right from the beginning Rachel had a Really bad attitude .She Told me that I should of ate the fish the day I bought it. REALLY!!!! and that it was expired. I purchased the fish the day before I open it up. you would think it would be ok. Then she said why do you want to get more when its out of the same box. She Just wouldn't let up so I asked her why is she arguing. She was Extremely Rude and I feel I don't want to go there anymore. wish there was a other store besides Safeway.
