A few days ago, I got a small chip in my windshield. I knew I needed to get it repaired with cold weather coming, so I called my insurance (EasyCare) and they called Safelite. I was skeptical (I always assume anyone working on my car will try to rip me off because I know next to nothing about them). But boy was I wrong! Tom came to my house (from the Penn Hills office) and repaired the chip, vacuumed my car, and cleaned all my windows in under 20 minutes. The cost wound up being 100% covered, but the quoted price I received was very reasonable as well. I will definitely be calling them for any issues in the future. read more

I had the unfortunate incident where I needed to get the windshield replaced on my Bestie's car I was borrowing. I must say the assistance I received from the Safelite rep was wonderful. The the repair was done by Jesse who was awesome and very quick very efficient. I thank him for his wonderful demeanor and professionalism while handling the windshield repair. My only negative is the phone computer intro system is terrible. It is so hard to get to a person and then it will hang up on you. I had to call back multiple times before speaking to a real person very frustrating. I like to talk to people and the computer phone system is the only negative I have to say but everything else about Safelite was wonderful. Great overall service and price is good. read more

We needed my windshield replaced & recalibrated. Making an appointment on line was very easy. We were given an estimate of time to complete the job of 3 hours. We decided to drop it off the evening before and we would receive a call when the job was completed and we could pick it up. When we dropped off our car, Justin was very pleasant and informed us of the process. As we left we realized that the garage had no power due to a recent storm. Even with no power we were treated exceptionally well. To our pleasant surprise our car was finished very early the next day and we received several messages text, email and telephone call that we could pick it up anytime. Justin was there when we picked up our car. Again he was pleasant and explained to us how to get our inspection stickers for the windshield. The car was very clean, no sign of glass anywhere. Had my BMW 740 windshield replaced. Several days later had issues with several safety features of vehicle (lane departure sensor/auto high beams). Serviced at BMW dealer revealed that all issues were related to improper replacement of windshield! BMW technician actually sent a video showing improper installation-clips were broken off and the KAFAS camera was not in place. Safelite installer tried to apply "velcro" to jerry-rig broken parts unsuccessfully. (see photo attached) Contacted Phil, manager at the Penn Hills location and was told that the "warranty was void" because I did not return vehicle to them for inspection prior to dealership. Explained that there was no way for me to know that my vehicles issues were related to improper windshield installation. Contacted SafeLite corporate and after multiple phone calls and emails from both myself and my BMW service advisor, Safelite agreed to pay for installation of new windshield by BMW dealership. So in the end, Safelite did the RIGHT thing but I should NOT have had to go through all the time and aggravation to get satisfaction. read more

They put in a new windshield that has streaks on the interior. These streaks will not come off. When I called for assistance they came looked at it and said all new windshields look like that. An absolute lie. New car windshields do not have permanent streaks on the interior. They used cheap aftermarket glass!!! Be warned. Check the glass before they install it. read more

I had a windshield replaced in January and acrack developed last week. Called customer service and was told a replacement would be free. Was told at the branch there was a small chip ( I didn't one at all) and I would have to file a new claim. I told them what I was told and they said it was not a warranty claim. My windshield unfortunately cracked during our "Polar Vortex" last week. (Jeez, don't you just hate the hype that the media makes up? It was just freaking cold, that's all!) I checked with my insurance, and found out that they had a contract with Safelite, so I decided to go ahead and schedule a replacement with them. I did, however check with several other services, including a dealership, and found that Safelite service AT HOME would come out to less than HALF of what others wanted to charge!! One important detail: if you are choosing home service (which only cost me an extra 30 bucks...) you need to have a covered area available for the service to be completed - i.e. you must have a garage which will allow both front doors to be open simultaneously. Jason was our glass specialist, and I must give him a huge compliment - he is extraordinarily friendly, and treated my curiosity with courtesy, and even invited me to watch the whole process - I happily obliged! Jason was the consummate professional, and treated my vehicle with total respect - no nicks or dings. He completed the service in about an hour, and I must say that the installation is factory quality. I highly recommend using this office's services, and would encourage you to even ask for Jason by name - you will not regret it. He is extremely professional and friendly. we filed a claim with Erie and sent to safelite for repair. We then received several emails (none saying repair would not be covered) and when arrived at shop, were told insurance would cover. After repair complete, was told was not covered and charged. This service is a scam and in combination with Erie insurance Company. BEWARE! read more

It's wonderful when they take your phone number and say, we'll call you when it's ready, in about 2 hours. Stopped back at 2 1/2 hours, not ready, computer issues. I get it, but then you say..oh about another half hour, 45 minutes, or definitely an hour...so we go home, and you finally call 2 hours later? A short call before we stopped the first time (you had my number),is great customer service, this was not. Not sure about the windshield yet.. fingers crossed! read more

My Lexus suffered a shattered windshield and needed to be replaced. I called around to a ton of auto glass repair shops and every one I called was ridiculous except Safelite. Not to mention that they are about a mile from my house. I called their 1 800 number to schedule my appointment. The woman I talked to was very pleasant and nice. I arrived right one time for my appointment and they took my car immediately. I was told it would take about an hour and a half. An hour and fifteen minutes later my car was done but needed to sit for 30 minutes before I could pull off. 30 minutes later I was on my way. The windshield was fine but there were little glass pieces everywhere, on my console, on my carpet, in the seams of my leather seats, even in the back seat were my daughter sits so I went home and vacuumed them all up. I notice some blood on my tan seats too. GROSS! The installer must have cut himself. Another couple came in behind me so he must have been rushing. He is supposed to vacuum up the broken glass. If he did, he did a s#@&y job! My car is a garage queen as it doesn't get driven much. About a month later I hear a rattle coming from my dash and upon checking the dash I find a inch and a half cut in my dash. I immediately called their 1 800 number to let me know and was told to bring it back in. The woman on the phone was just as nice as the first one. The technician said that the installer must not of covered the dash during the install like he was supposed to and he didn't fasten all of the brackets that contact to the side of the windshield and fixed it. He recommended Michael's Auto Trim in Plum and said that Safelite would pay for my dash to be fixed. I contacted Michael's Auto Trim and they said everything was taken care of and to bring it in. I took it in a few days later and after a couple hours my dash was as good as new. You can hardly see where the cut was. The next day I got a call from Safelite's corporate office asking how everything went. They have the most pleasant people on the phone I have ever talked to. All in all I am very pleased with my overall experience with Safelite. They did everything they could to fix the situation. If I ever need a new windshield again I will be back! read more

I did a Google search for discount auto glass, Safelite and a couple others came up offering discounts. I did a couple online quote and they both came up with one hundred sixty dollars after the 60 dollars off that is listed on the safelite website. I selected my vehicle information called a few and each was around one hundred and sixty five dollars but safelite was the only one that would come out the same day. After the subcontractor called me he said he couldn't come until the next day. It was around the end of the day so I said ok. While they were doing the windshield I noticed rust and dirt on the frame. I requested the technician allow me to use my drill with wire wheel to clean it he said he didn't have time for that. I said well ok. That didn't make me happy because the windshield is going to leak. When he was done he said that will be three hundred and nineteen dollars. I didn't agree and told him that used a coupon from the site and he didnt reply. I warn all of this and I will never use safelite again. read more

The Technition called me shortly after 2 to let me know he is running behind. 5:02 call again letting me know he's not going to be able to get the work done today. I had a great experience with the windshield replacement. But I also replace my wiper blades, and they fell off 2 days later during a storm. It was a terrible experience. Well, that was 2 months ago and I still didn't get my reimbursement/refund! I call them many times, gave all my information, and nothing! They ask if I could drive there, and I said no, since I work past their closing time. I need my refund in the same card I used. Well, every time I call, take around 15-20 min to get to a human, the manager is never in the store, and I still cannot get my refund! Terrible experience. Will not recommend to anyone! read more

Ongoing Nightmare - windshield cracked... Insurance company uses Safelite and based on my address I am to schedule with Penn Hills location. First appointment- replaced and next day whistling, Second appointment - next day whistling, Third appointment canceled one and half hours after scheduled, Fourth appointment - replaced and whistling, Fifth appointment I was asked to come to the shop. Windshield replaced, did not whistle, but they DAMAGED my car with a gouge out of the upper driver side. Because touch up would not correct this I was advised to take to the dealer. Very long story abbreviated the Auto Body owner came to give an estimate and found WINDSHIELD WAS CHIPPED AND PAINT UNDER THE GLASS WAS SCRATCHED ALL THE WAY AROUND.. Looking at $1200 to repaing. Long negotiating resolving nothing. Now 6 weeks later and I continue to wait to have an appointment to have my vehicle repaired. (P.S. During this time I was called by a quality control supervisor who actually admitted this was not faulty glass but technician error. Never heard from him again) read more

My car had a stone chip that began to spread. We called our insurance and they referred us to Safelite. They told us as long as the break was smaller than a dollar bill, it would be repaired free of cost. Upon arrival the next day for our appointment, I showed the lady at the window a picture on my phone that showed the crack was smaller than a dollar bill. She proceeded to tell us that she has been doing this for many years and that it was unrepairable. She started talking about pressure etc. Saying how she knows that( by a picture) that it could not be repaired. No one even looked at the actual damage. She quoted us a price of over $400. Then said that for a 'jeep' windshield would be over $700!! We went out to our car and called another place and the quoted $260 to replace our windshield!! The Ol "bait and switch"!! Thank goodness we did our homework on this one. We lost a days wages and almost paid double for the windshield!! Safelite cost us $$with out even looking at our car! Wow. What experts they are at dodging their warranty. Had my windshield replaced in July 2014 after a stone hit the windshield while on I-79. This morning, while sitting at a dead stop under a clear sky (no trees, no debris and nothing moving around me), I I hear a pop -- not a smack or a hit but a pop -- and a crack runs along the lower windshield just over the defroster vent. Hmmm. Seven hours later two techs show up at the car, take one look at say "Oh, this is an impact hit, so the warranty is void." WTF? There is a place where a small sliver of glass (1/16th of inch at best) popped out of the glass - under my wiper, by the way - that the tech calls an impact point. No impact damage visible, it's clearly a sliver that was popped out when the glass (obviously incorrectly installed) finally buckled under the difference in temperatures. My insurance coverage has no deductible for glass replacement, so it's no money out of my pocket but I won't give Safelite the benefit of getting an insurance company check for shoddy work. Plenty of other glass companies in Pittsburgh. read more

My insurance referred me to Safelite to replace my windshield that needed fully replaced. I live in Pittsburgh, and made an appointment to have a technician come to me to replace the windshield. Due to the possibility of rain on the day of the appointment, Safelite called me shortly after making the appointment, to see if I would be parked in a garage or some type of cover. I didn't have that option on my street, so they recommended that I come to their location to replace the windshield with no issues concerning the rain. I was thrilled that they called me so soon and told me I could get in right at 8AM. I arrived as soon as they opened and was out in about an hour and a half. Everyone that I spoke to was very friendly and obviously concerned with my satisfaction in the repair. I appreciate the care and concern that went into repairing my vehicle and will gladly return to this location if something happens again in the future! read more

I broke the rear window out of my 2006 Scion xB using it as the Pickup truck it isn't on Friday night. My insurance company set up an appointment for the next day. I came in, told them to take their time because I wasn't in a hurry, and poured a cup of coffee. Before I could finish it, my the window was replaced, the broken glass was swept up, and my keys were being handed to me! They did an excellent job and were very nice to deal with. read more

The tech that came to my home did a great job. He was professional, took the time to explain everything and was very thorough. My 3 star rating comes from the fact that when my car insurance contacted Safelite for me they were quoted a price that was HUNDREDS more than when I went on the internet and scheduled it myself. Safelite seems to be charging a LOT more when they know auto insurance is involved and unfortunately I would have been the one to pay the extra cost since my deductible was $500 (and the insurance company was going to be paying over $200). I paid less than $400 when I scheduled my own service and paid without using my insurance. Buyer beware! I was also a little surprised that I had to wait 2 days for an appointment (in store or at my home). It is dangerous to drive around with a cracked windshield! read more

A stone hit my windshield Thursday on the way home from work. It was a small starburst just off to the right of the driver's view. I was going to try a repair kit myself but I figured I better leave it to the pros. I scheduled Safelite (recommended by a friend) online Friday morning and they came out that afternoon. It was a female technician and she was very friendly. I was going to pay it out of pocket since I knew I had a $500 deductible but she told me to call my insurance company and they would wave the deductible for fixing the crack - it would be about $60. I had another small chip up behind the rearview mirror that happened several months back. The technician recommended that I might as well fix that one, too. That's where it get to be disappointing. The one by the driver's view was fixed pretty well at first glance. The one behind the rear view mirror (which was the smaller of the two) had grown after she was done. I now have a crack about 2 1/2 inches spreading out on one side and about 2 inches on the other. And, I think it is growing. I called the company several hours later and got a representative who nothing absolutely nothing. She apologized at least 30 times. She then said she would forward me to her manager, which I said would be great. I waited about 2 minutes, she got back on and again started to try to explain to me what she thought the problem was and told me I would now need a new windshield. I called the technician's number (luckily, I saved it on my phone) and she said that yes, the crack expanded when she was working on it but she put pressure on it and it shouldn't grow any more. She said to call her on Monday if it did and they would probably have to set up a replacement. I'm starting to think she purposely made the crack grow so that they could get the $60 bucks off of the insurance company and then get the $$$ for the windshield replacement. Like double dipping. I feel bad because she seemed nice but I have a feeling I might have been duped. She said it was unusual that a crack would grow like that. So, I'm that one in a million? Little does Safelite know that I would not go to them for the replacement windshield if you can't even fix the small crack. Why would I do that? I just get so frustrated when I feel that I am taken advantage of. Sometimes I wonder how people sleep at night. read more

I walked in less than an hour before closing and received the best customer service experience I've ever had. I went in with a not so typical case for a glass repair shop-- a drivers side mirror that had been snapped off in an accident-- and the Manager went as far as hand cut a piece of mirror and figure out how to reattach the plastic part for me. The Glass appears to be fine. The installer ruined my headliner, didn't piece the surrounding trim back together properly, got glue all over my new paint job and rearview mirror, and left dust/debris all over the interior of the car. read more
