Before you book an appointment here, ask yourself one question: is saving $50 worth spending 10 hours of your life and finding human blood in your car? That's exactly what happened to me. I had my 2025 Tesla Model 3 tinted here on February 25th. The appointment was scheduled for 1pm, with a 3pm pickup. We arrived early at 12:30. Toby, the owner, informed us he needed to drop his kid off at an appointment and would be back shortly. He returned at 2:40pm. That's over two hours late to work on a car he promised would be done by 3. He then finished the full tint job in just under an hour. If that sounds fast, it should. When he handed the car back, he mentioned casually that he'd nicked his finger during the job. It was bleeding. I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I got in the car. Blood on the front windshield tint. Blood on the rear windshield tint. Blood spots on my headliner. Let that sink in. A grown man bled into my car and handed me my car like nothing happened. The blood was the most alarming part, but it wasn't the only problem. The film had visible wrinkles and misalignment that we noticed before we even left the lot. When we pointed it out, Toby brushed it off. "It'll go away on its own," he said. Getting a refund required a full day of back-and-forth. When we returned the next day, there was no apology. Instead, the person at the front desk actually pushed back. Her exact words: "Toby has been doing this for 30 years, and he has never done a refund. If you think about it, this is a good thing for you." Read that again. They put blood in my car, and I was supposed to feel grateful. We eventually got the refund and asked them to remove the film. When we brought the car back, Toby wasn't there. One person handled a removal job that needed two. The film came off, but so did five of my rear defroster lines. Destroyed. That's a repair that costs more than the tint job itself. So let me do the final math. I didn't save $50. I spent $60 in Ubers driving back and forth. I lost five defroster lines. And I still have blood stains on my headliner that I can't get out. Whatever he quoted you, it's not worth it. Scheduled an appointment for 1/31/25. 2025 black Ram just wanted a brow on the windshield and front two windows tinted. I arrived promptly at 915a. The lady at the front desk continued to chat and look at photos for 5+ minutes before she acknowledged I was there. I contemplated leaving at that moment but did not. The truck was done before 10a. It was a super rush job and not done well. We waited a month hoping the smearing and bubbles would dissipate. They did not so my husband reached out to the shop. He was told to stop in because a redo is only covered "ONCE". He arrived and that was repeated again as if it wasnt understood the first time. It was confirmed to be a crappy job. Appointment was set for removal and redo. We even left it longer hoping it would be done correctly. I (his wife) picked it up once the truck was done. I took it to my husband's job and dropped it off. He said it was worse than the first one. Extreme dust, bubbling, UNEVEN BROW, and chipping on parts of the tint. Yes this is on the Fresh REDO. He was highly disappointment and again the job was rushed. Not sure if the carelessness was due to NON important customers. This place legitimately did not have good customer service from the front desk women until it was time to pay. Nor did they take pride in doing a good job. I had my car tinted here 5/15 (I know, holy late review). I read reviews of tint shops around Pittsburgh and they had the best reviews. They were about a 40 min drive from me, but despite my busy schedule I made time to make an appointment and drop it off to have all the windows tinted (except windshield). I have in factory navigation so I went with a gps safe tint which was more expensive ($275.00). I believe it was the Viper film at 17%. I had this level tint done elsewhere in another state and was happy with the look. So flash forward to after install. My back windows were bubbled. Never rolled them down and had window locks on. I called them and informed them of the problem, the lady said, "the industry standard is no visible imperfections from 5 feet back." She wanted me wait till the tints cured to see if they would dissipate. They didn't. Then she wanted me to bring my car down to have it inspected to see if it was covered under warranty. I really didn't have the time to go back for something that should of been done right the first time. I will never take another car here again. read more

If there was and option for no stars that would be my choice. The owner Toby did my car and did a horrible job. I have noticed this man is full of excuses and is a total flake who should not even be in business. The tint job that was done on my vehicle was a horrible job and was rushed and done very very poorly. I asked about certain things at the end of the job and was fed a bunch of excuses. There is random cuts in the tint on every window like razor nicks. Also on all edges the cuts are very poorly done like everything was just rushed no care. Also he didn't clean up after himself in and outside of the car: Do yourself a favor and do not use this business the man takes zero pride and i mean zero in his workmanship. If I only would of checked reviews before obtaining this business I wouldn't of used him. Lesson learned. Also I have read all the reviews and this man has the Audacity to try and defend himself and give nothing but excuses. I just hope others do not use this man for any type of work. I'm very upset about my visit here and I'll preface my review by saying that it's the principle that is more important than the dollar. Also, after paying a lot for a shoddy tint job on another car at another place in the past, I wanted to avoid a repeat occurrence. I reached out to this and a few other establisments for quotes to tint the windows on my car. I read the reviews on Yelp and also had 2 referrals from friends. One of my friends highly recommended this place so I made an appointment with Toby who confirmed my price, date and said I could pick the tint % when I came in. When I asked him how long it would be he said 2 hours. He was able to get me in fairly soon and wouldn't require me to take time off work. Cool...deal. Fast forward to the day of my appointment ... I arrived before the shop opened along with another person and was the 2nd person in line after the doors opened. When it was my turn at the counter, the receptionist took my information and pointed to the wall and asked me to pick out the % of tint. Then came, "oh, wait, does your car have navigation" I replied that it does have navigation. She then said that it would be at least $50 more. When I asked why I wasn't advised of that when I scheduled the appointment, she shrugged her shoulders and said "That's what it is. You can talk to him about that. It's not a big deal if you don't use the navigation." (At that moment I just had to say a prayer and be thankful I didn't say what I truly wanted to say...) Lol Look, nobody has time for games of BS. I don't care if you tint all the cars in the PGH area. A couple people commented on wrong quotes a while back but since the owner responded to those comments indicating that he should have quoted the right price, I assumed it was a no longer an issue. Again, it's not about the money, it's the principle. Toby seems like a nice guy but he needs to communicate more effectively instead of assuming. At no point was it explained that there was a "range" in price. If the year, make, model and class of vehicle is given, it's assumed that the "expert" will be providing all of the information a customer needs. Hell, just say it's an estimate. The purpose of my review is to share my experience so you know the right questions to ask in advance to make the best decision for your needs. ***Update in response to the owners comment*** I appreciate the owners response and apology but my feedback remains the same. It's important to set a customers expectation in advance of their appointment. I scheduled an appointment for Paint Protection Film (PPF) for a Monday morning and dropped my truck off on Sunday night. It was almost closing time on Monday and i had yet to receive a call letting me know if my truck was finished. I called and was told it was pushed back a day to Tuesday bc of the weather. Ok no problem. I call Tuesday and was told it will be finished today but he (Toby) recommends not to drive it right away. I say no problem I'll just pick it up Wednesday afternoon when I get off work. I get there Wednesday and I'm waiting in the waiting area for 45 minutes to get my truck. I knew then that he must have just started the work on my truck. Toby comes out and tells me I'm all done and for me to make my payment. I responded by saying I would like to see the work first. As we're going into the garage his exact words were, "It might look bad under the lighting but it'll be fine". I begin to inspect the work and THE WHOLE PPF KIT IS MISALIGNED WITH GAPS EVERYWHERE!!! There wasn't one even piece on the whole front end!! There were bubbles in the PPF and razor blade scratches on both of my side mirrors and on my fender from where he was cutting the material. He then tells me that anyone that inspects their vehicle in such a manner, he doesn't want to do business with. I said cool no problem, you can take it off. He takes it off and tells me that he's gonna call around to other shops and let them know not to deal with me. He then hands me my keys so I can back my own truck out the garage. It took everything in me not to match his energy but I knew that would most likely end up with me getting arrested. Later that day I visited two other shops for estimates and they both said Toby has terrible reviews and his name is basically mud when it comes to being an installer. Update: Beware of the falsely elevated reviews. Now I know how there are so many 5-star reviews: They have a Yelp deal where you get $10 off if you check in AND write a positive review at time of check-out. So I also wrote a positive review for $10 off before I saw the finished job. My mistake. There's lint under the film! I've gotten all my cars tinted (in different states) and never had this issue. I've reached out to Toby, but he says there's not much he can do because stripping and reapplying film can leave even more glue residue. Well I guess I'll just have to live with lint under the film even though it's really visible and annoying!! ****** Excellent job on tinting the windows of my Equinox SUV. Very fast service, less than an hour. They completed the job while I waited in a wifi-equipped office. They also offer glass services, so I got a rock windshield chip repaired for $50. read more

I specifically asked how long it would be since I would be waiting. I arrive this morning about 20 minutes early, and get asked if I am dropping off. No, I am waiting. I get informed he is leaving for an emergency board up. Ok, I get that. I simply respond with ok, then I will have to reschedule. I get informed to wait a minute. Then the woman at the front desk lets me standing there for 5 minutes while she is running around. Complete dismissal in my opinion. Do not waste your time. A week ago I totaled my Audi A42t & bought a 2012 VW Beetle 2Tquatro. I wanted a tint ASAP, so I gave Solar Control a call on Saturday afternoon to set up an appointment. I decided to get my tint at this business again because the tint they put on my Audi was perfect. I'm an impulsive person so I wanted my Beetle tinted immediately. I was shocked as to how fast I got in. The owner set me up with an appointment a few days later on Tuesday morning. Leave it to me to be late and miss my 9am appointment. I received a courtesy call making sure everything was alright & to remind me about my appointment that morning. When I called back around 12pm the receptionist was incredibly polite & worked me into a 1pm appointment that day! Upon arrival at Solar Control, I was greeted & immediately given options as to which tint would be the right fit for my Beetle. Once I chose the tint I wanted, a friendly technician asked for my keys & got started right away. There were several other vehicles being services that day. These people know how to hustle! My car was finished in no time. I was impressed with the knowledge & experience of the staff as I observed other customer interactions taking place. So I took my 2014 sti there to get it tinted. I was quoted at 230 for all windows. When it came time to pay they required me to pay over 300. That was complete bs. On top of the over charge the job was terrible. There was dirt in every window. I called back informing them that there was dirt in the windows and they tried to tell me it will work itself out over time. I would really recommend going somewhere else. The professionalism at this place is so poor. Take your money to someone else. I thus moved to Florida and took my car to get it retinted and they said that is was one of the worst jobs they have ever seen. "It looked like someone rubbed their hand in the sand and then rubbed your window before putting the film on." That is what the owner said to me. Had my windows tinted plus a clear bra installed by Toby. I can't say I'm terribly impressed by the tint job. There's what I would consider more than an acceptable amount of dust trapped in the tint, which looks like a bunch of small bubbles from the outsite. The driver's side door has probably 2 to 3 dozen bubles in it. It's pretty noticable from the outside, particarly when the car is clean (and yes, you can see if from 5', which is apparently the unofficial window tinter's standard of an acceptable tint job). I brought my concerns to Toby, and the told me to bring the car in so he could take a look. I drove across town only to have him say 'that's normal'. It may be normal for him, but I have a number of friends that have next to no imperfections / dust in their tint. By the way, his warranty doens't over dust, so you're SOL if you get a bunch of dust in your tint. At $300, which is above average from what I priced for my car (Mazda 6) I would expect more. read more
