Do NOT use safelite and do not use this specific location. Processed through progressive to have windshield replaced 9 March. They installed a warped/distorted windshield. I had to schedule a warranty appointment following Wednesday but also called to see if I could get on sooner. Was told to bring it down to shop only to be told they wouldn't do anything had to wait until mobile appointment. Wednesday comes around and my appointment was changed to in person but was never told. I bring it down and replacement windshield was found to also be distorted so they order one from different company. They said they would call which they never did. I had to call through progressive Safelite customer service 5 separate times and their own customer service can't even get a hold of the local shop. I had to submit a better business bureau complaint and they still haven't done anything. I am still without a fixed windshield!!! read more

very disappointed because it seemed like a bait and switch. Got 1st estimate from one place then contacted Safelitr for 2nd estimate. pretty much same Safelite because they come to client to do work so I chose them. Was told windshield would arrive in 3 days but that didn't happen plus now new appointment not available for additional 4-5 days. New appointment day arrives and they call saying windshield delivered to wrong store.They say they will call another day when it's 'found' to make new appointment. I said let's make new 2nd appointment now and save extra wait time but girl wouldn't do it, wouldn't allow me to say a word and then hung up on me. I received an appointment remember the day before my appointment confirming the time and identifying the technician that was supposed to be coming out. I really don't know what the point was, the technician that came out was someone totally different and was an hour late. I had an appointment around October '21 and each time they brought the glass to me, it was cracked. This happened 3-4 times. I called the manager and she said she was going to place an order for my window and I have called every couple of weeks to check and each time they say there was no order placed. So I spoke to the supervisor and she "ordered" a window and would call when it was in. Now it's March and there is still no window. Do not go this location. You will never get a new window read more

Yesterday I called my insurance company and they was able to schedule me an appointment first thing this morning with Safelite. I showed up at 8am and all my info was there ready with the clerk. She confirmed that I was getting my window replaced, told me my total and said it would be roughly an hour and a half to complete. I sat in the waiting area and grabbed a complimentary bottle of water and watched TV. An hour later my car was ready! The gentleman who serviced my car called me outside to check it out it looked great! My mats were vaccuumed which was nice and he went over the warranty with me. I had a long thin crack that went about a quarter of the way across my windshield. I took my car in and the whole procedure was finished in less than 90 minutes. The only concern was they didn't realize my insurance had initially linked so they were going to charge me $500. Thankfully that issue was resolved promptly. I had a great experience with Safeline AutoGlass repair recently. I scheduled through my insurance (GEICO) and they were able to have someone come out to me within 2 day! They allowed me to schedule time in 2 separate blocks, 8-12pm and 12-6pm, so I picked the first option. I got a call around 7:35ish (a bit earlier than I would have liked) but quickly called back and told them I was available. He got to my house around 8:10am and got to work! The whole process took about 15-20 minutes and it was super easy since I didn't have to take my car anywhere to get the work done. I wish it didn't leave the gray spot on my windshield, but oh well. Received a text first thing in the morning that the tech would be here. After 12 noon came and went, I tried to call the office, but I couldn't get past the recording. Very disappointed with the unprofessionalism. Someone could have at least texted or called to provide the status of the service call. A lot of advertisement on TV and radio to lead one to believe that they have top rated service. At least have someone available to talk to about issues, concerns, and possibly reschedule. read more

This store of Safelite is probably ripping people off left and right, not just me! I simply wanted three less-than-dime size chips on my windshield sealed. The clerk, a brunette with glasses, behind the sliding window rang up my bill as "$368.96, will that be cash or credit?" First of all, I just wanted an estimate. Second, no one bothered to even look at my windshield from the shop at Safelite on W Mercury Blvd at about 12 Noon on 1 MAR 2016. Finally, I fully explained to the lady behind the sliding window that all I wanted was an estimate...I asked her forthright how can she come up with a cost with a human being evaluating the problem...and I told her I was not interested in work at this time... STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM THIS STORE - SHE IS PART OF A CORPORATE PLOY TO RIP PEOPLE OFF... I went down the street to Danny's Auto Glass, a local Hampton Roads owned business, and they had a trained auto glass specialist evaluate the issues and write an estimate of $95 for three chips...All Safelite on the phone wants to do is cover themselves in justifying almost FOUR TIMES as much for work than needs to be done...A BUNCH OF HIGHWAY ROBBERS! read more

I'd had a small chip in my windshield as a result of a stone being kicked up by a passing truck. On Wednesday afternoon I called Safelite (number provided by my insurance company}. The information was taken quickly and the repair was scheduled for the next day. I was given a 6 hour window and prepared for a long wait. It turned out not to be long at all. I received an email and then a call from the repairman to let me know he was on his way and to identify himself. When he arrived he went over the repair process and started working right away. I had an appointment and the day of the appointment they cancelled and said the truck didn't come in and they would call and reschedule when my windshield came in. I waited a few weeks and had my husband go to the store in Hampton. He was informed it was on back order for the last year and no one has been able to get it. I received an email a week ago from them stating my windshield was in and to call and make an appointment, which I did. I go today for my appointment and was treated rudly by the lady. She stared that my windshield wasn't in and questioned why I made the appointment, I explained I an email and called and scheduled the appointment. I then told her to cancel my services with them and I would go elsewhere. I called Danny's glass they have it in stock and will be fixing the situation for me. Even though this happened a few years ago, I remember it like it was yesterday. On my way to work one day I a piece of wood hit my windshield and nearly came all the way through. The first company I thought of was Safelite AutoGlass, (having seen their commercials). I took time off work and took my car to them. Happy that I was able to get this done quickly, I drove my car to work the next day. On my way there, I noticed a crack developing from the lower corner, driver's side. Once I got to work I called Safelite AutoGlass and let them know about it. They agreed to come to where I work and check it out and also agreed to call me when they got there. They did not. Instead, I got a phone call telling me that a rock hit my windshield. I am no windshield expert but, I call tell the difference between a stress facture and an impact fracture. Also, if a rock would have hit my windshield, I'm absolutely sure that I would have heard it especially at highway speeds. Furthermore, when I asked this caller why I wasn't contacted when he arrived at the parking lot he stated that he didn't know that he was supposed to. So I then asked him where, in the parking lot, was my car parked. His response was to rattle off the year make and model of my car, so I asked again; "Where was it parked"? His response; "I'm not going to argue with you, Mr Humphrey" and hung up on me. I don't like to be lied to, so I took the rest of that day off from work and went to their shop directly. After about an hour long debate with them they agreed to replace my windshield. I don't like being treated like I'm stupid and I don't like being lied to, but what really did it for me is after they gave me my car back they instructed me not to try to adjust the rearview mirror until the next day. These people are horrible. They send this kid DeCarlos to do it. First the kid is so dumb it took him almost an hour to find a property that is literally across the street, LITERALLY. So after my mom gets out of her bed to go find the kid, he finally tries to fix the little crack. It was literally the size of a quarter, by the time he finished, it was the size of a dollar. So he calls and says he's finish and to come down. Sounding proud, but was surprised to see me, her son, so when I asked him how did he Triple the size of the blemish, he tries to make an excuse. See he was expecting a little old lady not her son. So I call the shop, speak to the manager who was nice, he even admitted that the kid "botched it" He offers 100 off the deductible. First off I'm not paying you to fix something your employee made worse. It's not happening. If I have to pay, I'll go somewhere else, pay more to get better service. My appointment was for 8:30. My car didn't get into the bay until about 10:15! No one explained why there was such a delay until i said something when my car was done. The young lady said she had to take car of the windshield repairs and the calibrations. I was thinking, "Really?" What did that have to do with my job for which I had an appointment. My son had recommended this place and said it took about 15 minutes total for him. If they had offered an explanation in the beginning, that would have helped. Geico and Safelite are running a scam together. Ive been driving my 2017 VW Passat for 2 years and never had any windshield problems. Last week I was riding behind a truck and a rock ended up hitting my glass really hard and cracking it. I quickly scheduled an appointment and when I brought it in to get fixed it took an hour max to get fixed, I was ecstatic! It looked so good! Two days later after the installation my windshield cracked AGAIN and I noticed a huge scratch or hairline crack going horizontal across my windshield. Five days after installation I was able to get Safelite to come out to check out the new crack under service warranty and he told me something hit it and it cracked so it would not be covered under the warranty. I am the only one who drives this car and had not seen nor heard anything hit my windshield hard enough for it to crack. I also showed him the horizontal crack and he said it could be a scratch. Either way, why is my windshield so easily scratched or cracked after a brand new replacement?! Come to find out they purposely replace your windshield with the cheapest one possible! I called Geico back to let them know that this next replacement windshield I want it to be OEM and the representative tried to talk me out of it insisting that they were of the same quality. Then FINALLY, with an attitude at this point, she puts me on hold to check what the price difference would be for the OEM which ended up adding $200 !!! IF ITS THE SAME QUALITY THEN WHY IS THE PRICE SO DIFFERENT?! I ended up canceling the entire appointment and am currently looking for someone else to replace my windshield. I got my window chip repaired and when the technician told me my car was done I went with her to my car the chip was still there she told me that the repair is cosmetic not a actual repair. It honestly looks like nothing was done at all. I was then told to back my own car out of the stall myself. My battery was dead. The technician tried to jump my car in the process shorted out my electrical system all my dash indicator lights were on my car stereo was put in anti theft mode. I had to go to the Honda dealership to reset all my indicators lights and my stereo. I would like to have the price of this repair added towards a new windshield replacement since this chip repair didn't even make a difference in the chip and I wasn't aware of this being cosmetic not a repair. read more

After having spent about $400 for the windshield repair, I found that Satellite at Hampton had sliced off the hose that supplied the windshield washer fluid. After I discovered the problem, the management at this location refused to take responsibility for this damage. Even though during the windshield installation, the paperwork states that all damages caused during the installation etc will be covered, they never reimbursed me for this damage. To corroborate, I even had the car service center provide me enough evidence highlighting that the Satellite technician had sliced off the hose during the windshield repair. Therefore, if you are looking for a windshield repair, try Glass America at Newport News or Danny's Auto Glass and Mirror. If you want to get your money's worth, after paying this exorbitant amount, get your auto glass repaired by a shop who would take ownership of their mistakes. Don't be fooled by the warranty etc. If they can't own up to the simple mistakes, I am sure they will find reasons to void the warranty when you need it in future. read more

First off, I would like to speak to the quality of service at this location. The technicians were friendly, courteous, professional and worked quickly. No complaints to the installers. I had my windshield replaced in December and they did a good job. Part of the plastic trim piece that was put back didn't sit fully flush on the windshield but no biggie. Fast forward a few months and I'd like to speak to the quality of the glass and how the company stands behind their product. There is now an 8 inch crack that goes from the top of the windshield to another area of the top of the windshield. For reference, nothing fell on the car, nothing struck the windshield and I did not transit over any large potholes. Furthermore in 5 months I have only driven the car 680 miles; it's my weekend car and sits in the garage during the week. I took it back to this location asking if a repair can be done under warranty. The manager told me that because of the location of the crack it would be impossible to repair, it would pass inspection and I should just live with it. I was expecting better than "I'll decide what is an acceptable condition for your vehicle." She could not prove the glass was struck by an object (Of which there is NO evidence of any impact) and replacing the glass was out of the question. I took the next step and called the customer service line to see if they could do anything for me. She said go down to the VA Beach location and get a second opinion. Really? So there's an inconsistency in how your managers evaluate damage and you want me to waste an hour round-trip so someone else can tell me the same thing? The customer service left the manager a message to contact me again to sort this out but I haven't heard anything. The company does not really stand behind their product, honor their warranty and I'm out hundreds of dollars because of a defective product. This is completely unacceptable. read more

A bad experience! The actual price was $30 more than what was quoted... (disposal fee &tax). The technician made no attempt to clean up glass. Spoke to manager he indicated he "personally oversaw the cleanup" I brought the vehicle back and upon seeing the piles of glass, the manager didn't apologize for the error (and lie) he instead, made the excuse that it was because my personal belongings needed to be moved. Terrible customer service!!!! I called to have my window replaced. The technician came out and told me that he could not replace the glass because he was only prepared to fill in the crack. He told me that someone would call me back once the new glass came in. No, one ever called, problem #1. When I did call them back 2 months later, they told me that I had called and cancelled the order and that is why no one had contatcted me, problem #2. So, I asked to please order my glass and have someone come to my house to fix it, sure, after 2 weeks they did call back and set up the appointment with a 6 hour window of time from 12 p - 6 p. The technician called me at 5:30 pm to say he was running late and was more than a half hour away. At 6:30 I called him back to cancel and he said someone would contact me to reschedule, that never happened, problem #3. Then a month later I called them back to set up an instore appointment as the time for my inspection was now a month away and was told again that they had to order the part and that someone would call me back in two days. Again that never happened. So I went into the Safelite location in Hampton, VA and was told that they had been trying to contact me for a month and that they had sent back the part!
