After a not so great experience with a local windshield guy, my poor cars windshield became cracked yet again after just 2.5 short years. We were in another city and made an appointment for Safelite when we returned. The technician had great communication, was on time, and made sure to walk through all the important stuff including showing us how the last guy installed the windshield using a skimpy amount of sealant. He was also careful to make sure that the eye used for my automatic wipers would be in good shape (something the other guy did not). Overall, the value was great. There was a promo code found online that dropped the price $50 and we even got new windshield wipers. Did even bother going through insurance since the price was so good. read more

Good luck trying to get ahold of someone when you really need them. I tried calling their customer service line multiple times and had four different people say they couldn't help me--from their customer service reps to their store associates, and even their mechanics! They want to tote their quality customer service, how about you get staff that actually want to try helping?! Not to mention, they were rude! Do you really want a mechanic telling you "we can't help you, we're telling you now" when you're asking questions about your car? I went through hours of stress and worry, and the staff at Safelite single-handedly caused it all. Don't waste your time trying to call, lest you get a message saying no one is available to get your call, or the reps transfer you to a shop that is hours away from your location and can't help you. Classic story: I'm driving on the 5 when a work truck blazes by and sends a stone hurtling 80 mph toward my windshield. The cacophonous crunch shortly after means only one thing: I'm gonna need a new windshield. After talking my auto insurance, they recommended Safelite AutoGlass whose website is so user-friendly all I needed to do was upload my auto insurance information, car make/year, and agree to pay the deductible and an appointment was set for me. Make sure you have comprehensive auto insurance or windshield repair may not be covered. Upon arriving, the friendly staff checked me, and I paid the $50 deductible and was told it may take up to two hours for completion. They finished in two and set me on my way. As others have stated, the lack of customer service and repairs performed at Safelite are extremely abysmal. After a rock hit our windshield, causing a large crack, we needed a replacement. We contacted our insurance, who directed us to Safelite. As a nationally recognized company, I didn't hesitate. However, this was ultimately my mistake, as I should have read the reviews. This location is terrible. Communication among Safelite, our insurance, and us was like pulling teeth. Safelite repeatedly failed to acknowledge this as an insurance job. They neglected to contact the insurance company on several occasions. Eventually, we sorted it out. Furthermore, Safelite did not keep us updated on the repair progress, forcing us to constantly inquire. When we picked up our vehicle, I inspected the work and found several issues. I informed the receptionist, who initially confused me with another customer. She began to get aggressive and insisting that she had been trying to reach me all day. After clarifying the misunderstanding she continued being aggressive and was persistent in assuming I was someone else. Upon further clarification, she reluctantly had a technician inspect my complaints. For clarification, our vehicle is a brand-new (2024) SUV, never wrecked, with no prior work and only one oil change before this incident. I pointed out severe fitment issues with the new windshield and other under-hood plastics to the technician. He dismissed them, attributing the problems to aftermarket parts and claimed he could do nothing. He suggested I return the next day for the manager to review. Upon returning home, I fixed the issues myself but discovered additional problems. The lack of care shown by the Safelite staff was disappointing. I found a bent fender and several missing body clips from my plastic panels. Returning the next day with photos and complaints for the manager, I expressed dissatisfaction with the poor repair quality and customer service. Once again, the receptionist became confrontational upon overhearing our discussion. The manager brushed off my concerns, expressing there was no way they could have lost parts or damaged my vehicle, and insisted I bring the vehicle in for him to inspect, refusing to take any immediate action. Frustrated and having no trust in their service, I requested only the missing panel clips to reassemble my vehicle. After much debate, the manager returned with incorrect clips that didn't fit my vehicle. He remained aggressive, but eventually another tech stated they'd order the correct ones from the dealership and inform me when they arrived. However, I have not received any update from them in two weeks. I'll be purchasing the missing clips and repairing the vehicle on my own accord so as to have no further business with Safelite in the future. In summary, Safelite's customer service is abysmal. They become aggressive when confronted with issues and refuse to take responsibility for their poor repairs. The overall quality of their workmanship is severely lacking. Recently put in for a back window replacement on a work truck, but when the mobile technician came, he said he was not going to be able to do it because there was a toolbox in the way and a rack. It would be more suited to be done in the shop. **UPDATE** Wife called back and explained our situation again and they were able to get us in yesterday (Tuesday) instead of Thursday. They also already had a replacement windshield in stock just in case but didn't need it. The girl on the phone was very apologetic and we appreciate her. The guy working on the car was the same one that did the initial install. He had great communication and was able to get it fixed. He seemed concerned about it and wanted to make sure everything was ok. He also test drove the car for us to confirm the noise and then after to check his work. I have used Safelite a few times and highly recommended them. This last experience got them cancelled them from doing my windshield, and took my business elsewhere. Trying to talk to a live person turned into a fiasco, the bullshit you have to go thru to talk to a live person is beyond rediculous! Not everyone in the world knows or understands the online crap to communicate, nor do we want to. So we cancelled with them and took our business to a local glass shop where we live! It was cheaper, friendlier, and we could actually speak to a human being without all the AI run around getting no where. When any business gets above customer service, when that customer is paying them to do a job, I think paying a person who will take the time to talk to you, and treat you right is more important that any online, chat system that you never get anywhere with anyway! read more

The technician that replaced my window broke my window regulator. In June 2022 the Safelite technician who replaced my window had no experience with manual window regulators. The reason I know this is because I'm an ex auto mechanic. The cable was binding on my window regulator and on my first attempt to roll the new window down the cable snapped! 3 days later I was told by the Bakersfield Pegasus location manager that they were going to install a new manual regulator. It's been 6 weeks now and I've contacted Safelite twice since the original incident but no one will help me. I just bought a new regulator for $49 on eBay. I'll install it myself. Very disappointed!! My windshield was replaced in SEPTEMBER! It has since had to be re done 3 times!!! They keep pushing me back and forth between Lancaster and Bakersfield. This is ridiculous. When Safelight replaced my windshield they did not calibrate the sensor attached. They have continually pushed me around and no-one has taken any accountability to repair. When I left a review on the Lancaster site they said message or call us and left no way to contact! Now I have gone back to the ORIGINAL safelight I started with and NO ONE WILL RETURN MY CALL. My air-conditioning doesn't work, my heater doesn't work. Safelight does not care if you and your kids are freezing in your car with your kids. I am very bothered by the continually poor customer service. My hope is that someone of character contacts us and fixes what they broke! MORE THAN 6 MONTHS IT HAS BWEN AND YOU WONT AND HAVE NOT FIXED THIS!! I even took my car to the dealership and they told me it is clearly a windshield error! I picked up a rock in my windshield, and Farmers Insurance made it especially easy to file the claim to be fixed by Safelite. So I did. Modern cars have all sorts of sensors built into the windscreen, and doing the job right requires skilled technicians and costly equipment these days. Safelite's Salinas office did a great job, keeping me informed every step of the way. Great group. And when I picked up ANOTHER rock just 8 weeks later, they were able to save the windshield with that pressure-injected-epoxy trick. Since that didn't require glass replacement, they were able to do that in my driveway. Good group. I'd use them again, happily. My only complaint is that it's impossible to reach a human being by phone. But it's all good after that. read more

Last week my windshield took a rock hit. It wasn't bad but the next day it turned into a long crack. I used Safelite's website to schedule the replacement. It was quick and simple to do. I scheduled an at home replacement for Tuesday morning. The Tech got there about 10AM and had the replacement done in about an hour. It looks great and was installed very cleanly. So first off I made an appointment so that my front windshield would get replaced since my previous one had got cracked due to a semi throwing a rock. When I called to ask about my windshield they told me it would take about 2/3 weeks to arrive. Today finally after almost 1month an a half, my wife takes the truck since we had an appointment then 2 hours later she gets a called that the windshield they received was cracked. My car was broken into and the side window completely smashed. I haven't even had it repaired yet just made my appointment, but I needed to give all the people a warning. Don't trust the price they give you, it'll go up by at least $100 when they factor in all the stuff they didn't tell you about. They have a glass recycling program that's mandated by the state of California. They pass that cost to to you the consumer and you have no chance to opt out. But also they don't tell you about that fee until you have already locked in all the details of your appointment and go to the pay page. This cost should not go to the consumer but should be absorbed by the company, but even if they charge you this ridiculous fee- they should at least be upfront about it. The same thing goes for the onsite replacement fee. They offer to come to you, which is more convenient. However, NOWHERE on the website does it say they will charge you extra for this or what the extra price is. They just tack it on at the end after you've already locked in your appointment. They need to be more upfront about their prices because I went from expecting to pay $395 to being charged $507. read more

I've waited around all day for a technician to show up between 12-5pm. Never got a call or notification past a email at 7:30am telling me who my technician would be. Now it's past 5 their shop is closed and not answering phone calls. No one alerted me that my appointment wasn't going to be complete. They told me it would take about 3 hrs to install and calibrate, which it did. The car was vacuumed and wiped down when I picked it up. I had a 2pm appointment and showed up on time. I had my husband follow me down which is 45 minutes away because I was told it takes a couple hours. I expected to pick my car up around 430 before they closed. Well, when I dropped it off I was told that they were closing at 3:30 and needed to pick it up around 3:15. So It was pointless for my husband to follow me to the location 45 minutes away when we just could have sat there and waited. I really wish I got the service in the TV Commercial. Windshield installed then three days later it rained and filled the interior mats with water. Now just try to find a telephone number on their web page! FINALLY got ahold of them to schedule a reinstall. During the reinstall they severed the wiring on my hands free microphone. The guy handed me the mic with about 6 inches of wire and said that his f&@k up would be covered by the radio warranty. I told him he cut the wire he fix it, oh nooooo it's covered under the radio warranty he insists. So he beats it quickly, and leaves the car a MESS with chunks of rubber all over the seats & dash. Well 60 days latter and it was all crap. Rhonda won't return my messages, believe it or not she has now blocked my emails. My rear driver side window was smashed in by someone unfortunately so I search for window repairs. They got me in the next day and online, super convenient. They finished the repair fairly quickly too! When my husband picked up the car, he asked about the damage to the rubber near the window. They claimed it was like that when it came in. Had a windshield that needed repaired and was being paid for my a 3rd party. (responsible for replacement) Appt. made easily! We arrived, were welcomed warmly and seen immediately. Come to find out,, they were going to replace with an OEM and we wanted a factory replacement. The price was 130.00 more. Apparently there was miss-communication about the estimate given with the 3rd party but it all worked out easily, as they did have the factory part, 3rd party approved and paid the difference. It was replaced quickly (about an hour) and off we went! I'll add, they offer yummy coffee, not sure what brand but it was delicious. They also offer free wifi so we could work while waiting, but the signal is super weak. Seems like a happy staff... everyone was very upbeat, helpful and kind. Gave 4*'s instead of 5*'s because of the miscommunication, however that honestly could have been on the part of the 3rd party. read more

Do not come here if you have a nice car. They use bootleg parts, they don't know how to calibrate safety features and left my rear view mirror unattached. I would have been safer driving with a giant crack in my windshield than having additional safety features damaged here.
