But I came in tonight April 1st at 9 pm. The gentleman that took my order looked very professional and he was very kind and attentive. Everyone else in the back also was dressed professionally. The other times that I came I had to ask for my fries to be remade because they weren't fresh, and I asked for salt because they didn't have salt on them, the chicken nuggets were also not that crispy. But tonight when I came my fries were fresh and had salt, the chicken nuggets were crispy ! And the coffee is strong so that lets me know they used a good amount to make. I used to work for McDonald's and these small details I know about since I've been in the kitchen before. My visit tonight went great.

Gordo's adobada can compare favorably to al pastor anywhere; however, my experience at this "Gordo" location in Gaslamp has been inconsistent compared to Chula Vista and Vegas locations, due to their higher volume. The smaller space also has less seating, which is a bummer if you are coming here on a busy comic con day. The adobada here, though, is the taco to get. Consider yourself lucky if you get a nice portion of crispy and burnt bits as they offer nice textural bites. Their sauces/salsas are also equally good, and it sets it above and beyond another taquero from Tijuana, Tacos El Franc. Don't shy away from their asada tacos either, as the meat has a nice kiss of charcoal and it's topped with a generous portion of guac. I don't love that prices have gone up to almost $5/taco; however, I'll gladly pay it if they can give me my favorite taco.

The portions are big and the quality of the food is very good. The breading and seasoning on the chicken was tasty AF. Secondarily, the burgers are 1/4 lb and a single is plenty for a normal person. Lastly, the rings were thicc and GBD. Unfortunately, we sat in traffic for 3 hrs from OC, when it normally takes 1 1/2 hrs: We were really hungry, and Hodads met our needs. Regarding the ambiance, its a bit grunge but np for me. The name has a whole lot of nostalgia in SD. The service was friendly & warm. Our food came out quickly. Everything tasted fresh, and it was the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before heading out to enjoy San Diego. It's clearly not much of a secret anymore with all the great reviews, and after visiting, I can see why. If you're looking for a delicious sandwich, a quick lunch, or food to take on a picnic while enjoying San Diego's beautiful weather, this is a fantastic choice. I asked him how long it would take before I get some more and he said about five or 10 minutes. So I took my chicken and he took the Fries. Now anybody who knows me, knows I wanna eat my food together. I don't want my food separated. I didn't order it separate. I didn't pay for it separate I just wanna eat it together. I waited for 10 minutes with one chicken strip left and they tried to make it up, but it was almost just as bad, as they gave me a little extra fries, but they were all just like the ones that I had given up. The fries on top seem to be fresh and the ones midway through and down were just as bad if not worse than the first batch as these had more burnt ones in them. I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen and I can't say there was a line as most people had already gotten their food and were dining. I just think that there might be a disconnect in the kitchen. The ambience was OK. The tables initially needed to be wiped down, but that might've been due to just a high volume of customers finishing their meals and leaving and the turnaround. I'm hoping that this might've just been this experience and I didn't get too excited my first visit. Im definitely disappointed this visit and it may be a little bit before I come back. Great customer service, food, and atmosphere were top-notch. Prices decent and a great place to take the whole family, just dine with a group, or just a cool date night. Patio area with bar and small game area of corn hole. The area can get a little chili in the evenings but they have heaters to keep the customers comfortable. The vibe is cool here and I stated that I would definitely give this place another visit.
