Quick spot for a snack (at least on a weekday). Esquites is my favorite snack and they have pretty good portions here, and not skimpy with the toppings either. I've been here a few years ago (thanks to a Yelp Elite Experience) and it's still quick service and good quality. It's a more secluded corner of Old Town so I'm sure it's a nice place to relax away from crowds on a weekend, too. $10 for esquites and $9 for agua fresca (with the added chamoy/tajin rim). read more

I got a cup of elote while visiting Old Town SD, and this location is convenient! The corn elote seems to be grilled beforehand and kept hot throughout the day, but you still get that toasted flavor. Definitely try your corn and mix it before you squeeze your lime in, though. Mine was much, much tangier than expected. The elote is hot and ready to eat almost immediately, and the service is fast and polite. The area is also decorated beautifully from the architecture to the stones on the floor. read more

This place is a MUST when coming to San Diego! They serve the best esquites! The corn is roasted which gives it a delicious taste and when you top it with hot Cheetos crumbs...BOMB! The serving size is enough to get you full as an afternoon snack! I've been here twice and will continue to come each time I'm in town! The gentleman who served us had great customer service and prepared our corn fast. There wasn't any line when we got there but I'm sure on busy days it's packed. read more

This review is only for lack of service and prep on the business end. We came for a Xmas event that started at 12pm on 12/21/24. We got there at 11:50am and while waiting for the event to start we thought we'd grab an elote cup. When I walked up the man looked busy husking corn so I asked "Hi, are you open?" He said "ummm, well.... I guess I can help you out". Then asked me what I wanted. I said an elote cup, then he said the butter wasn't ready yet and to come back in 5. We came back in 5 mins and he said "this is gonna take awhile". So we ended up leaving. Unfortunate. read more

Visited on a Thursday afternoon. The lady behind the counter was friendly when she took my order -Corn in Cup, light on the cheese and other toppings. She prepared my order really quick and got me on my way. The corn was yummy and a hefty amount. I took the advice of the other reviewers about taking it easy on cheese because of how salty it was. The booth is located in a cozy food court out of the way of the busy central part of Old Town -closer to the Transit Station. There is parking across the street and on the street if you can find any. Came here for thinking I was getting fire roasted corn but unfortunately it was not fire roasted. It appeared boiled and then topped off with toppings. I ordered corn in a cup, I believe it's called esquite. It has mayo, lemon, tajin and chile... yummm They also had corn on the cob, loaded baked potatoes, and a few other snacks. The elote here is loaded up and delicious. What more can I say? The prices are expensive but honestly not even that much more than getting mediocre elote from a cart by the beach, and the quality here is much better. I've had the elote in a cup and also the tostielote. I'm actually not sure if the portion size of the tostielote is that much bigger than the regular elote in a cup, but I kind of preferred the tostielote despite it being like $4 extra. read more

Elote was on my list due to the raving reviews. I should have known better when I saw zero people on a Saturday but I went ahead and ordered something anyway while waiting for food from another restaurant in the food hall. The corn was overpriced (paid almost $11 including tip) and did not taste good. This makes me want to go to Ralph's to get some Parkay, corn, cheese, and lime and make it myself. Visited on Sunday, Elote had been on my list for quite a while and was excited to give it a go. The area it's located in Old Town is pretty cool tucked away in a food center. The person working the counter was pretty nice. Wasn't the best elote I've had, some of the kernels were dried out and was super salty. Don't like that they pull the cup loaded up out of a warmer, can get fresher off the cobb at most farmers markets here for about same price point. I'd give it another go in the future to see if it improves. read more

This is a small little restaurant that is located in a very small food court in Old Town. Their menu is relatively simple and consists of a few variations of Mexican Street Corn, known as elote, hence the restaurant's name. they also have drinks and chips to accompany the corn. There is limited free street parking and a lot that is actually reserved the park located directly across the street. They have a few tables, chairs and lounges that they share with the other eateries in the food court. I was not feeling eating corn off of a cob, so I went with the elote in a bowl. You can get it with or without Cheetos on the top. I went without. I ate my elote in a bowl at one of the tables in the food court. It was hot fresh and delicious. Some of the best elote that I have had. I will admit, that their hours are sporadic and they sometime deviate from their posted hours. They still have some amazing elote and I highly recommend checking them out. read more

Horrible customer service. Dude working there wearing a Boston Red Sox hat seemed annoyed that I was interested in being a customer. I asked if they had a menu and he replied, "We have what you see in the signs." The signs did not have a price or description of the food options. My son just wanted a plain elote with butter and queso so although I was annoyed, I still attempted to order something. So the guy tells me, "The butter is not ready, try back in 5 minutes." So I wait 5 minutes and walk up again. Dude looks at me, checks the butter and says, "It's gonna be a while bro." So I left and won't come back. Horrible customer service. read more

I didn't know I needed Mexican style corn in my life until I tried Elote's tortilla chip corn supreme and went to corn heaven. I usually not a fan of heavily salted food or Tamarindo, but these chips were stacked, dunked and drizzled to flavorful perfection!! The dairy component, sour cream like, was light, the corn was a satisfying texture, the chips were subtly flavored, the prefect frame to the cleverly created corn concoction. And "frame" indeed. Great Elote! Located at the Old Town Urban Market, Elote is offering corn on the cob, Mexican Style, corn in a cup (esquite), and Tosti Elotes, aguas frescas, and fresh organic orange juice. I had the corn on the cob which was delicious. They put a good gold and light brown roast on the corn which enhances its flavor. The corn came with mayo, an abundance of Cotija Cheese, Tajin, and a red hot sauce for $6.50. The corn was roasted properly and was very tasty. I loved the Cotija cheese that cover the corn. This was a really decent Elote shop and really enjoyed it a lot. Needed a bigger container as it was spilling all over with every bite. LOL I love the concept of this, one thing would make this a bit better and that would be to roast the corn a bit so it has color and texture more developed ie caramelized. I came during the week for lunch so it was easier to find parking and there was no line to order. The person working there was nice and friendly! I made a comment about how good it smelled and she explained to us that the way they cook the corn is different to other places. They roast it instead of boiling it. She also let us know that they have an actual restaurant where they roast potatoes and have a full menu. I mean...I was sold right when she said potatoes! The corn in a cup is really good and has a lot of flavor. My husband had a michelada and he was happy with it. He wanted a corn in a cup as well but they only had cob, they had ran out of cups. Service was good, girl was very knowledgeable atleast of what she had. The place is pretty hidden and in a pretty hidden area sharing with other businesses as well but most of them were closed and they were the only one left open. If you come to try it, dont come alone. Tucked away in the Urban Market, Elote stays true to its name by serving up its titular snack (and a few extras like agua frescas, beer, and chicharrones). From traditional elote (corncob on a stick) to esquites and tosti elote, this joint is corn heaven. My elote was super flavorful!! Fresh and warm, it was clearly a made-to-order item. I haven't had too many legit elote in my life (because I've actually been eating esquites!), but if this is how it's supposed to taste, then I'm all for it. I suggest definitely grabbing a napkin or two because eating a seasoned corncob on a stick can be messy (I had to wipe my face after every bite)! As for my agua fresca (the flavors of the day were triple berry and passionfruit), it didn't come with ice (which is cool value-wise, but not temperature-wise). It would've been much more refreshing if it were ice cold! Also, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it paired nicely with the tartness from the Tajin powder on the elote. read more

So good! Elote is one of my favorite street foods so I was happy to see this newer addition to the Old Town area. I ordered the Tosti-elote because I had never seen elote served like that and thought, that's such a good idea! And I wasn't wrong, it was delicious! I shared this with my fiancé who is not a fan of cotija cheese and they were able to accommodate by providing the cheese on the side, so we both were happy. The only thing I wish I had more of was lime as it only came with three small pieces of it. I can see myself craving this and coming back here specifically to get the tosti-elote! read more

The three types of "sauces" were mild, medium, and hot. All three were tasty in their own way and I enjoyed all of them with the yuca fries and towards the end of my meal, it added a little kick to my dish. Not crowded and noise level as it would be eating in an enclosed patio, not too noisy with the sounds of Old Town patrons walking/driving down the street. Our server took our drink and food order, and everything seemed great up until that point. Then we realized she had forgotten to put in our drink order. When she finally brought my drink, it was the wrong one. When our food arrived, my order was incomplete my extra bacon was missing. So I ended up watching my wife eat her meal while I waited. My food finally came out right before she finished eating. After we finished, our server eventually made her way back to the table. I asked about the military discount, and she nodded and said they offered one. When she brought the check, the discount hadn't been applied, so I had to ask again. Between the mistakes with our order and what I could see and hear happening at some of her other tables, I'm guessing she was either brand new or just having an extremely rough day. We've all been there, so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. That said, we're definitely excited to come back and give this place another try because it has so much to offer! Hopefully, we catch our server on a better day next time. If the service had matched the food and atmosphere, this would have been a 5 review all day long!!

We chose the chicken & broccoli bowl that also contains rice and shared it between the two pups...not a drop left! I decided on the Malibu Beef Burger which was cooked to perfection and was such a great burger with a tad of mess (which is what makes a burger the best!) They don't offer french fries but roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes so I chose the roasted ones. They were so good and there was also a lightly dressed arugula salad, which was a perfect side! Wife got the Stop Light Trio tacos which comes with three tacos (the green-chicken, raw brussels, cilantro crema, the yellow-butternut and spaghetti squash with a mango habanero salsa, and the red-hanger steak, pickled cabbage, onion, and salsa roja). She loved the yellow one best followed by the red one but I'm all for the green one...it was delicious!). And we had to splurge with a piece of their grilled chocolate cake...yup grilled! We were told that the cake was torched around the sides and it creates a nice toasty edge. So decadent and thick and rich and lots of chocolate! I will say that their cocktails are amazing and we decided to go with cocktails for the night. Every single cocktail we tried, we loved. They also have a wide variety of brands on different liquors. My boyfriend likes bread, so we decided to order their bread and I love steak tartar so we ordered that as appetisers. We like to start with a salad so we decided to share a Caesar salad specially after we saw them preparing it to the table next to us. The Caesar salad is definitely a must and it was our favourite. I had never had a Caesar salad that actually used anchovies and I loved it. The steak tartar was good, but not the best I've had. I did like that it included the yolk on the top and the chips were good and it had a good flavour but it just seemed a little too salty for me. We had a ribeye steak to share that was perfectly cooked medium rare and the butter was delicious for the sides. We had the truffle fries and we had the onions on red wine. The onions were my favourite part of the sides. I could not leave without the dessert and we decided to go with a banana foster. They do a table side show that was amazing and it was a delicious dessert. Service throughout the night was great. Overall, I will say that I will be back for Drinks and if we decide to have a meal here, I would definitely get the Caesar salad the onion on red wine side and the banana foster. The steak was good, just not great I would be willing to try a different cut or protein. For the pricetag, I would've expected everything to be great, which is why four.
