Dropped by here over the weekend when I visited the museum. It's prime location is perfect for those who didn't bring a meal or had something to eat prior to coming in. Prices are reasonable and the staff are super friendly. There is a patio with a few tables and chairs as well as a dining area inside. I chose the outside. It was beautiful and the breeze was so relaxing. My some enjoyed his pizza and fruit while I enjoyed watching him. With a wide variety of food and drink, you're sure to find something you'll like. Be back soon!

Their menu has some good options but this artichoke, feta, olive, and Mozzarella pizza caught my attention. I'm so glad I ordered it because it was so tasty! The crust was doughy and crisp and there were plenty of yummy toppings. It cost about $10 and was filling. Be sure to check them out next time you're in the area. Great service, food, and value.

    Veggie salad. Nice!

Bean Sprouts is a nice alternative to a typical Museum Cafe. Not only is the food healthy, but the kids meals are particularly good. The cafe has received national awards for having the best kids meal or around. I had lunch here today at the new Children's Museum in downtown San Diego. The museum is a lot of fun, but it can get really crowded, so we decided to head over to bean sprouts before the crowds had gathered. I ordered the all organic salad which came plastic to-go box. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. This includes sliced black olives, red peppers, purple onions, artichoke hearts, and cucumbers. I opted for the balsamic vinaigrette, which was also organic. Prices here are fair considering you're inside of a museum. The food appears to be uniformly good, but I wouldn't call it outstanding. I will eat here again!

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

We stopped by at around 8:20am today and there were only a few people in line. Service was welcoming and kind! They had an assortment of baked goods + empanadas as well as a great matcha/coffee menu. There's lots of seating for anyone who wants to hangout with friends or study. So awesome to see that they serve Nami (aashleyk's matcha brand). I ordered a chicken empanada, pan de elote, & an iced matcha cloud (less sweet & oat milk). Everything was absolutely DELISH. I'm pretty picky about my matcha, especially when it's in an Einspanner form. I loved the contrast between the sweet/salty cloud and the matcha itself! This place has their ratios down perfectly. Can't wait to come back (probably tomorrow)! 11/10.

The staff were awesome and super friendly. I got the Mia-mor Latte and a plain bagel with cream cheese, and both hit the spot. One major bonus: they only charge $0.50 extra for oat milk! Most other coffee shops charge $1.00 or more now, so that was a really nice surprise. They also gave me a stamp card for future visits, which I'll definitely be using. Will absolutely be back!

The main seating area is almost always full, but there's more indoor seating in the back through the hallway (where the bathroom is), plus some outdoor seating to the side. The drinks are really good. I always get mine half sweet, and the flavors are consistently great. They also have a ton of cute, picturesque desserts. They're a bit too sweet for my taste, but you can tell a lot of care goes into making them and they're definitely tasty. Parking can be tricky downtown, and it can get busy with lines, but it's totally worth it for the drinks, desserts, and overall ambiance. FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
