About a week ago or so my wife and I were drawn to an upstairs bedroom due to the sounds of scratching and clawing. The noise was coming from our attic, a place we've only visited once 25 years ago. The sounds were loud and disturbing to say the least. Now we were staring at a small hole in our ceiling tile. Uh oh. Critters in the attic is never a good feeling. We were thinking squirrels, racoon, or...worse, rats. We have heard that this time of year (January), the nasty vermin like to come indoors. I guess they aren't stupid. We have been a Saela customer for a few years. They spray our house and yard for spiders, etc., and we've been happy with their work. I knew that they also had a rodent eradication program, so I gave them a call. A few days later they were at our house doing an inspection. The results of this inspection caused a cascade of subsequent events to take place. Saela captured everything they saw in photographs and showed us. The attic insulation, which is 35 years old, was matted down and you could see the trails where rodents had essentially built highways into the fiber. There were also signs of rat feces, even an old bird's nest! It was obvious animals had been using our attic as a vacation home for some time. Yuk! The crawlspace inspection did not find critters, but the crawlspace was unwrapped and open just to the dirt under our house. In one corner of the crawlspace there was a bit of standing water. Yuk again! Saela's recommendation was to allow them to come in and take care of the problem entirely! I thought all they did was spray for bugs, but it turns out they are a one-stop shop for exactly this kind of thing! They gave us a plan for what they were going to do and costed it out for us. We gave them the go-ahead. Saela then arranged to have their team arrive at our house. The workers were friendly, very polite, and took care to make sure nothing was damaged due to their work. In 2 days they had completely disinfected the attic and crawlspace, and completely wrapped our crawlspace is new thick plastic. They also installed a nice new sump pump in our crawlspace, so no more worry about standing water down there! On the 3rd day they cleared our attic of all insulation and brought in all new insulation, tying everything down nicely. The project manager, Jennifer Gross, was really good! She kept us fully informed of the work that was being done, schedules, issues, etc. She even recommended a handyman for us to use to fix that ceiling tile in our spare bedroom, and an electrical company to use for plugging in the sump pump. Who knew that Saela could do all this work? I sure didn't, but I do now! The bottom line is that we are very satisfied with the work they did! The work was not cheap, but we didn't feel that the price was out of line. read more

We just switched to Saela Pest Control, and within two weeks we saw the first roach we've seen since first moving here 4 years ago. We live on a creek and have kept up with pest control since the first week we moved here because of roaches. If you have a good pest control, DO NOT SWITCH. From long-standing personal experience, the Saela brand team needs work especially with the integration between their Utah-based Customer Service reps and their Front Range Colorado field techs. I signed up for 2 services for over $400. I was charged an additional $239 for a 24 month service I never agreed to. Making phone calls to try and get my money back and I keep being told a branch manager will call which they don't do. I had to file a fraud complaint. If I could give zero stars I would. Go elsewhere, anywhere else. I signed up for a mole service, and they included a secondary service with my package. It's on me for not reading the fine print, and signing the contract, but when my mole service ended, and I found out I was in some subscription based service for ants and spiders, it was a surprise to me. I tried to cancel over the phone, which is the only way you can, and they would not take no for an answer. Every time I asked to cancel The service, she would reply suggesting that they come by and make it right. I would just repeat "please cancel my service", and she would just repeat, we can have a manager come by and take care of the problem for you. I don't have an ant or spider problem. And when I used them for mole, THE MOLES GOT WORSE. Again, ants and spiders was a service I never asked about, they never mentioned, and they automatically included it with my contract. We have used Saela for years and, for the most part, they have kept our seasonal sugar ant population from becoming a problem. They are responsive to requests for re-treatment and generally friendly. HOWEVER, I will now be looking for a replacement service after they sent me an unsolicited invoice for an additional service that I had never agreed to. The invoice appears in my email box as "signature needed," the body welcomes you to Saela family as a new customer (even though I've been one for years), and the invoice it links to on the customer portal gives every impression of being a legitimate invoice. I can imagine seeing it, thinking that it must be something my husband agreed to and maybe even already had done, and signing it. This is deceptive and slimy. This happened twice in 6 months, once for some insect add-ons we didn't need and the second time for rodent service we'd never talked about (and quite expensive rodent service, too.) He used products inside the house and then performed a really thorough job of getting rid of wasp nests, spider nests and spraying the foundation and other areas outside. We've had their "service" for a couple years now. A rude technician showed up LATE today, then had an attitude, then drove off in a tiff. We have a mole again. We had them last year and it took $350 and over two months to actually get the guy with the smoker and the worms to get rid of our pest. In the interim, the mole ripped our yard up all over. I had a mole problem, and Salea offered me a package that was "bundled" that included pest spray around my house foundation for no extra charge. The moles disappeared after several weeks, and the bugs are much less too (even though we only had a few initially). The bundle included both mole & bug control for $350 plus $100 every other month. The moles are back. Now Saela says that the "bundle" didn't include mole control and I have to pay another $350 for one year guarantee, plus and additional $25 every other month. They insinuated that I "misunderstood" and refused to honor our "contract." I understand that companies change policies and prices but why was I just gas lighted instead? I have used this company for about 4 years or more. I have had problems with them on and off during this time but have stayed with them as they gave me discounts on future services when I complained about their services. I finally decided to discontinue using them as I told them not to come out for a quarterly maintenance because it was maybe only 2 months since their last maintenance. They ignored that and came out anyway and charged me for it. Their service is not that good and when you do sign up for their service, it seems like they make you commit to a multi-service contract (like quarterly service for a year or more). So if you don't like their service, you can terminate but they charge you a termination fee equal to 50% of the cost for the remaining services you committed to. I do not like their business model and cannot recommend this company. While they have a local phone number to file complaints, it actually goes to a central customer service center in Utah. read more

The worst company ever, when I signed up I asked for service on a specific day. Tech kept coming on different day and did 1/2 of the work than what's contracted. I have to say that they came back and redid but it became an inconvenience for me. After a few attempts I called them to cancel, I had to speak to the supervisor. I told them that I wanted to cancel. But they still didn't listened and came to service my property on a the wrong day as usual. After the ownership change there has been constant pressure to add on unneeded pest control where they bully and try to trick you to agree. They sold my wife on a $90 mosquito plan for the season which seemed very reasonable but turns out it was a monthly charge of $90. I called to cancel the mosquito plan and had to repeat myself multiple times to just be transferred to a manager and then hung up on. So now I am cancelling all the services when I called back to speak with the manager. The manager kept trying to add more stuff for a cheaper price. What they do not tell you is their season is actually 6 services and could roll into the next season so of course the manager told me that there would be a penalty for cancelling. I said I would pay the fee, so how does it feel that I had to pay your dishonest, lying company just to go away. Do not do business with this company. Their sales contract is overpriced and locks you in for a year for a service that does not deliver. Their service delivery in the Kansas City area was miserable. We had one ring the doorbell to tell us he was going to treat our house. He then walked back to his truck and just drove off. There was another employee who asked for a tip after she treated the house indoors. Despite these complaints, the company representatives were ruthless with their own threats pushing us into a corner where we just paid off their full year contract. As you can see, average rating is 1.6. This company LIES when they sell you a package. You do not get what they say. You pay more than they say. They were to my home 6 times and could not remedy ANTS! They sprayed a white crusty spray on my baseboards that won't come off. (and it did not help with the ant problem). I called to cancel my service as I had let them know many times that the ants were still a problem, someone would come out and nothing ever got better with the ants. When I tried to cancel, they stated that I would get a cancelation fee. They did not provide their portion of the contract but I am CHARGED to cancel. This is a terrible company. Starting with common negative aspect, it is a pain to cancel services if necessary. They will push options as many companies do, offer deals and try to keep you as a customer with as many tries as possible you just have to keep saying over and over again, no, I just want to cancel. Then get put on hold for almost an hour as the customer service tech cannot perform final cancelation you need to speak with the manager level tech. Mike there was friendly and understanding and went through more options to retain services and everyone over and over again kept thanking me for my company loyalty and business as I had been with them for about 6 years. That said, the service provided under them as Edge was great, and under Saela I didn't see much change except the push for mosquito service which I then was roped into another 2 year contract which would have came with a pro-rated cancelation charge for early termination. Waiting till the end of the contract there was no talk of termination fee. If we are hit with any hidden fees I will update my review, but over all if you are looking for a pest control service they are probably as good as any others. I really liked our service tech and am sad to have to terminate service but we cannot afford extra things for the foreseeable future. Summary, Positive: great service, Early termination of contract fee is pro-rated so the closer to the end of your contract the lower the fee will be. Negative: Time consuming requiring a lengthy phone call to cancel services. Requires signing a lengthy contract comes with hefty termination fees for early cancelation of contracted services. read more

The person I spoke with made it seem very promising and said they would come out and assess the property and set up traps that day. She showed up and only sprayed for pests, which we do not need, and didn't. They called me the next day and I informed them that we were not happy with our initial service, and they had the GM call me to apologize. He said that they would be out the next day, as they don't carry traps on their trucks. Here we are the day of, and they did not show up as scheduled. Stay far away from this rip off of a company. This is for location in Salt Lake City, Utah. We started service with them 2 years ago when it was "Edge" pest control (much better name, but still horrible service). Every service they would send a different technician that would require teaching about the perimiter of the house (we have a very large home with a lot of areas that needed to be treated.). On most every service, the guy would come, zoom around 1/8th of the property, and leave within 10 minutes of arriving if we weren't home (we documented it with our security cameras.). Was insulting, they apparently thought if you weren't home you wouldn't know they didn't do any work. Besides the horrific service, when we went to cancel, imagine our surprise with them telling us we had a "service agreement" and there was an early termination fee!!!! We NEVER would have agreed to or signed a service agreement. We told the person on the phone that they needed to waive that or we would file a suit and complaint, and to prove something was signed. The person on phone agreed to waive the fee. and now what? 2 months later they are calling and trying to collect their termination fee claiming there are no notes on the record that this was waived. Horrific company, horrific customer service, and ridiculous "service contract." Stay away. read more

RUN!!! Expensive, constant sales calls, impossible to cancel services all for below average pest services. Honestly, Seala are bigger pests than the services they are supposed to provide. I was a pest control customer since 2015 and the company name changes a few times over the years. We had a mouse for the first time 2 weeks ago, and they came out. They offered to set traps for $300, then check for $25 a week after 3-weeks. We got traps for $10 at a store and did it ourselves. Pretty sad when they are the pest control we pay $476 per year ($119 a quarter) for them to spray the outside of the house for bugs a 4-6 times a year. They never want to spray inside unless you beg them to. Most recently they changed the name to Saela, which I have deciphered to mean "sell you" or "sale-a-service you didn't ask for". These people call us, a long-term existing customer to upsell services 3-4 times per week over the past month. My wife told them each time that we were not interested. She got frustrated with their "won't take no for an answer attitude" and demanded they note our account to not call to up sell us. The very next day, a call again to up sell. Then again the next day, a call again - they even confirmed on that call the note not to call was there. That's when I called to cancel our service. After speaking with them and them offering free services, I repeated we just wanted to cancel their services and will go with a different company. They needed to pass me to a manager, which after a 16-minuite hold, disconnected the call. I called back several times and the call wasn't able to go through. Called again the next day and at the conclusion of a 26-minuite phone call, the manager, Ryan agreed to cancel my account after repeated "free services" offers. Canceling my services from their sales bombardment took 45-minuites of my time over two days! Setting aside the constant bombardment of desperate sales folks, the pest control itself was minimal. They sprayed the base on the foundation 4-6 times a year for bugs. Did mostly when you weren't home and never called to set an appointment so they could do the inside also. Pricing when we started was $69 a quarter, now $119 - That's $476 per year unless you actually have a pest, then it is more. Impossible for account management and now resorting to declining charges with our bank if they don't actually cancel the account as Ryan promised today. read more

Thieves! They send a guy who begs you to get a pest control service done, then he asks you to sign a paper for starting the service and paying him. After a month they call and tell you that now you're contracted with them for a service for a year at 150 per service. To cancel they want a cancellation fee. Complete crooks! read more

Very dissatisfied with this company. Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They are difficult to work with and almost impossible to get rid of. To begin with the tenant at my property complains that there is no noticeable difference with spider, rat or ant infestation. A while ago our tenant spoke with a Saela technician and then the technician failed to start service, got back into his vehicle, and drove away. A moment later I got a text informing the service was completed. My tenant observed no one go near the house other than to knock on the door, talk to him, and then drive away. I contacted Saela to complain and the service representative argued with me that the service had been completed. She offered a re-service. This would be too inconvenient for me or the tenant, so I informed Saela that their services would no longer be required,--I fired them. On July 21, a technician contacts my tenant again. My tenant thought they'd been fired and that we'd made other arrangements. He had no idea why Saela was there. The technician apparently poked around the house for a moment and then drove away. I got at text at this time. The entire visit was 13 minutes by Saela's own recognition. This includes driving up, going to the door, knocking, waiting for the door to be answered, talking to my tenant, doing whatever he claims to have done for pest control, and writing me a detailed text of the conversation with my tenant and work completed. No observable work was completed. No rat bait boxes, and I'm not sure how cobwebs could be knocked down, or spider, ant or insect deterrents could be an applied in such a short time. Even a generous time allowance would be 8-10 minutes. That's around $14/minute. Furthermore, there was no abatement in the spider infestation. Because it was my belief that no service had been performed or authorized, I contacted my bank to block payment. At the time of this writing, Saela denies that no service was performed, or that our relationship was terminated before service. Saela is now threatening legal action.
