I purchased a house out in the country, surrounded by fields. The previous owner didn't take very good care of the home. The crawlspace looked like something out of a post apocalyptic movie. Y'all I just switched from our previous pest control company, of two years, to Bloom and I couldn't be any bloomin' happier. I called Bloom yesterday after finding a furry (not) friend in our garage. Katie in the office was THE sweetest. I don't know if I simply sounded pathetic, or if she felt bad for me, but she scheduled Josh to cone out last night at 5pm. She told me that they usually have their last call at 4pm but she would call Josh and see if he would mind coming out at 5pm. She called me right back to say that he would come out after his 4 pm call. She said to give him a little grace, as he may be there at 5-5:30 depending on the traffic. Of course that was NO problem because they were going out of their way for me. Now if you note, their hours are 8-5pm. Not 8-7pm. Not 8-6pm. 8-5pm. At 4:45 I got a call from Josh, to let me know he would be there by 5:15-5:30 which I really appreciated. (Especially since the technicians at the prior company NEVER communicated well.) Josh showed up right at 5:15 and spent 2 hours with us. He made sure NO stone was left unturned. He cleaned up everything in our garage and didn't leave ANY insulation or less INSIDE the house. He was professional and very kind. That is exactly what I've been looking for in a professional pest control company. We certainly aren't happy about HOW we met Katie and Josh at Bloom, but glad we signed up with them for service and glad we found them!!! Bloom provided a quote for a sump pump during our home buying process and we decided to hire them once we bought the house. Although their availability was a couple months out due to the ice storm, it was worth the wait. The whole staff was great to work with. The team behind the phones were very helpful in answering my many questions. The team who arrived to install were friendly and communicative. They were on time, worked diligently, and made sure to leave the home clean. This is a fantastic company! We had a "tricky" situation with our water well being so very close to our house with a termite and ant problem that needed to be dealt with. Other company's that I requested quotes from didn't care about risking the contamination of our well (went as far as to use "creative" math to come up with numbers to say the distance was safe or just flat out refused to treat the pests any other way). A Bloom rep came out on time and was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Once the rep saw our well being so close he refused to treat in any of the ways that would put our well at risk- BEFORE I could even express my concerns! Continuing the discussion with the rep, I found the company to be truly environmentally conscious. After about a month, we still saw some ants and were not sure if the problem was taken care of from the first treatment. So we gave them a quick call and Bloom promptly scheduled an appointment and one of the owners came out to investigate. We found that the termites no longer could be seen in the house and he treated the remaining ants for FREE with a 2nd insecticide (even though the 1st treatment lasts for up to 3 months and is just a bit slower)! I was expecting a charge because the original service was to deal mainly with just the termites, not the ants. I couldn't be happier with the company, their work or their techs! I don't put out too many recommendations but this company definitely deserves mine! read more

I'm so impressed by this company. I've had some bad experiences with contractors in the past, but the professionalism by everyone I dealt with was absolutely first-rate. They cleaned out my crawlspace, put down a new vapor barrier, and insulated the floor and pipes. Russ was quick in his initial inspection and in getting me the bid. It was more complete and less expensive than the other three contractors who came. Lori and Katie in the office were great in working with me to set up the job and go through the paperwork. Lorenzo and his crew worked fast and were terrific about keeping the rest of the house from getting dirty. And a quality control follow-up from Nathan, the company owner, really impressed me. He answered some questions I had, spotted a part of the project that needed a bit more attention, and had his guys finish it up quickly. Everyone I dealt with seemed like a genuinely happy person. The worst service for not listening to the customer. I carefully scheduled a visit to look at a pest problem. I gave detailed instructions on how to find the rural property and gave two phone numbers. I waited almost an hour after the noon appointment and no one showed up. Then the receptionist called and said the worker could not find my driveway. I was furious. She said they had only recorded one phone number and the rep could not get in touch so he drove away. By then they claimed he was too far away to come back. If you want to be treated rudely and not have your careful instructions followed by all means use this RUDE service. They will not be allowed a second chance after wasting my time today waiting for service that never came! read more

It was a ripoff. I needed two services: rodent control and spaying for ants. The ant part went fine, but the rodent control was worthless. I ended up setting my own traps (which cost a total of $10), which caught all the rodents. The bill was $350 for both services. And the technician kept trying to up-sell me on more services even when I told him their rodent control was worthless. I asked for a refund on just the rodent part, but I never heard back from them. Very poor customer service. Very poor value for the money. read more

Alex came over, and got rid of some wasp/ant nests around the house. Was incredibly friendly and set realistic expectations. He knew how to communicate things, as well as provide great assurances of his work. Informed me of good preventative practices and did everything he said was going to do. Unfortunately we were taken advantage of by this company in a home purchase situation. Charged $4000 for nothing but demo work to rip out insulation/vapor barrier and seal vents for rodent problem. No install of any kind. Removal of debris was charged too and now that we own the house we discover the debris was left down there. The quotes we've received to do skilled work of actual INSTALL of insulation/vapor barrier down there now are the same or less than they charged to rip it out, install nothing, and leave a mess. read more

Nathan and the Bloom crawlspace crew are great! We had mice, rats, standing water and just plain yuck under our house. The stench was almost unbearable under there and there was lots to be done: French drains, insulation, replacement of HVAC ducts and support posts, and installation of a dryer vent and all new vapor barrier. They also removed decades of rodent mess, an old sewer sump, and maybe most importantly, performed thorough rodent exclusion work. These guys get under there and go to work! The attitudes are great and they make you feel like no job is too big, even though my job was BIG and gross. Four full days under there for three to five guys and my house has three individual crawlspaces at three individual access points. What a mess!! But now....my house is smelling better and fresher and healthier inside than it ever has and the peace of mind I've gained is intoxicating! In the end, they did what they said, and on time and under budget. Huh? Under budget? Yeah, that's right; I said it. UB. The total changed due to shifting work scope and the job was LESS than expected. Hard to find a contractor honest enough to back out costs when scope changes to the homeowner good when he could have easily stayed at budget. Great company. Call and ask if they can help you with your problem. If they can, use no one else. It's really that simple. read more

Discovered a few inches of water in part of the crawlspace under the house. Called around for a couple of bids to get advice/comparison shop on how to get rid of the water. Bloom sent someone out. Explained to him that the water in the crawlspace was one-time, situation-specific situation--not broken pipes, not damaged sewer line, not shifting flood plain. We'd solved the cause of the outside water leak and now just needed to get the water out. Guy from Bloom went under the house to look around--he had the advantage here because we couldn't go under the house to look for ourselves, we had to trust what he told us. He took close-up pictures of specific problems. Under the guise of shmoozing he hard core scared/upsold us about what would happen if we didn't go with his proposed plan, which involved digging a trench around the entire interior of the crawlspace, installing a pump (not a temporary pump, no, he insisted we needed to purchase and permanently install a pump and drainage system, to be prepared if this ever happens again.) Then he moved on to the "major rodent infestation" He says most of the insulation has been torn off the heat ducts by rodents which used it for nests, now soaked in pee and feces. He tells us it's really warm under the house because we're losing heat through the ducts, which are now exposed because of the rodent infestation. He says he'll "include in the bid removal of all of the insulation from the ducts, both what the rodents have used for nests and what's still wrapping all our ducts, "because the rodents run along the ducts and pee and poop on the insulation above the ducts which will begin to smell up your house." He says he'll include in the bid an ongoing rodent control service. He says he'll also include in the bid the cost of his subcontractor coming out to replace all of the insulation, at a per foot cost. He said the rodents had displaced the vapor barrier in a couple of places. He said the whole thing had to go and a new one put down. He'd include that in the bid, too. "It's so much easier to get everything done all at once by one contractor," he says. He said he would do his best to cut us a break and get the bid in under $5000. We were suitably panicked until the next company sent someone out to look, about 24 hours later. He also took lots of pictures, though they were long shots of the whole space. "What water? Who told you you have water under there?" Point being that opening all the foundation vents for a day-and-a-half was enough to get the water to evaporate all by itself. Which means there probably was some water under there when the Bloom guy looked, but nothing that would warrant digging trenches, or purchasing and installing a permanent pump and drain system. Hard not to think the Bloom guy knew the water would dissipate with a good airing out. "What about the rodent infestation?" we asked the second guy. He says, "I hardly ever go under a house around the metro area that doesn't have some sign of squirrels or mice. It doesn't look so bad to me. You can put out some traps and probably need to get rid of the bird feeders." "What about the insulation on the heat ducts?" we asked. He didn't see a problem; the heat ducts are still wrapped in insulation/securely covered with plastic. The insulation the Bloom guy saw was from the underside of the floor. "Wouldn't hurt to put some more back up." says the second guy Mother Nature took care of the water, we've set some traps, and for $200 we got the nests cleared out, patches of missing insulation replaced under the floor, and some new visqueen put down on the exposed area of dirt in the crawlspace. UPDATE: I got the written bid from Bloom Crawl Space Services/Bloom Pest Control. Glad to see he removed the digging of a trench around the perimeter, and permanent installation of a drainage system and pumps, in my crawlspace. You'd think that would drop the quote quite a bit. Nope, the bid was over $7500 for the other stuff. I can't speak to the quality of Bloom Crawlspace Services/Bloom Pest Control's work if you have a legitimate need which you have taken extra steps to verify, but I wouldn't hire them or recommend them based on my experience. read more

Unlike 2 other companies that we tried, Bloom was excellent to work with and they fixed the problem with the installation of a French drain and sump pump. Given our experience with Bloom and what we saw from other companies, I give Bloom my highest recommendation. This company is the best!! First - they were able to send someone on the same day of my discovery of a huge hornet nest surrounded by nests of wasps. I did not have to wait for days and days. I saw the nest in the morning, called the company by noon, and had someone in early afternoon coming over for evaluation of the problem Second - the person who came (Nathan) did fantastic job! He came twice because beasts were too busy earlier. He also did some extra work, and did not charge for extra trip and some extra knocking off nests.. He took precaution to prevent contamination of water for animals by insecticides (again, did not charge me for that ) . Third - it looks to me that they focus on doing the best, not just the minimum necessary. He turned around and did the second and the third "look around" just to make sure that he did not miss any nests. I am really pleased with results and with the fact that he used insecticide with repellant. Again, I can't speak highly enough of this company. The experience was fantastic! read more

I recently had Bloom Crawlspace Services out to fix the water problem under my house. I had INCHES of water throughout my home and was super worried! I contacted Bloom and they were out here faster than I would've expected since other companies I called were booked out weeks in advance. Nathan was kind and patient walking me through the steps needed to fix the issue and get my house back on the right track. This included installing a pump and a full drain inside the crawlspace. What a diamond in the rough! I can not stress how happy I am about my experience with Bloom Pest Control! My husband and I are first time home owners, and upon purchasing our home in May we knew we had a few issues with our crawlspace- nothing major, but there was debris left behind, the vapor barrier was in rough shape and out of code, the insulation was clearly old and falling from our ducts, and there was some evidence that rodents had once made our home theirs as well. After noticing a little chill in our house, we thought we'd start from the ground up and finally venture to the depths below to see what needed the most attention. We spent 2 hours clearing some debris and rewrapping various segments of our ducts. Once we got tired of that, we decided to call around and see if we could get a couple of quotes. First, I spoke with Katie. She was extremely pleasant and actually took the time to inquire about what the situation was before leaping to set up an appointment for a quote. When I mentioned encapsulation she let me know right away that in most cases that can be on the extreme and expensive side. She explained that with a proper barrier and the right insulation, most homes benefit right away and the home owners too (a huge relief because we had already done a fair amount of research and knew it was expensive, and we weren't trying to be upsold on something that might be unnecessary). I told her I had the week off and she set up an appointment to have someone come out the next day- awesome! Next, Scotty arrived at my home today, friendly and on time! After a brief look around the crawlspace, he confirmed our suspicions of the amount of work to be done, but to our surprise, he said that we actually had a great crawlspace. I immediately asked about the variation in cost if we were to do the clean-up and removal of everything prior to any new installation and he perked right up and asked, "oh, so are you do-it-yourselfers?" I was thrilled that he was encouraging of this and we proceeded to have a great conversation of the situation with absolutely no pressure. Not only did we discuss the costs for their team vs. ours, but Scotty walked me through the entire process from start to finish if we were to proceed without their services. He even said that if we had questions along the way, we could absolutely call. AND after I mentioned a few other projects like evaluating the condition of the attic and fixing our skylight, he was a wealth of knowledge with helpful DIY tips, suggestions, and estimates, just as he had been during our chat about the crawlspace. To say that I would recommend them to anyone is an understatement. In today's market, especially for people like us that have little home-owning experience, it can be very intimidating to start discussions about critical problems with people you don't already know and trust. Unprofessional!!! I had other bids for services but I chose this business thinking I made the right choice. I was wrong, I paid over $9k for them to slap me on the face. Let me add a little bit of information, I am Asian American. Fast forward. First, I had to request the invoice, shouldn't that be a given? Second, it took days for them to prepare it (not a huge deal but worth mentioning). Third, this is the straw that broke the camels back. When I received the invoice I was shocked. The last name was "Hell if I know." Now, I guess I must not have a sense of humor because I don't understand the joke here. Anyhow, upon calling the business, the administrator who completed the invoice used the excuse that she didn't know what the last name was so she left it as a reminder! Really? I think that says enough, her excuse was justified because there are no such things as sticky notes, highlighters, reminders, or even revising drafts before it's finalized. Disgusted. P.s. I called Bloom to remove a wasp nest from a wall in our house. The person who answered the phone was friendly, helpful, and genuine (unlike another company I had initially called who had a salesman approach). The quote she gave seemed reasonable, so I made an appointment, and two days later Adam, the technician, came to take care of the problem. He was knowledgeable, and friendly, and he finished the job without issue. He charged us accordingly. It turned out to be a quick job, so the cost was significantly under the original quote. I took a couple months before writing the review to make sure the wasps were truly gone....they are! Bloom isn't out to grub money, or to get you sucked into contracts you don't need. They get the job done without fuss or theater. Their staff is helpful and efficient, and their services affordable. Will definitely call on them again if we have other pest issues. read more
