Located on the most charming block of the 20th Arrondissement, Restaurant Sardanac has been getting a great deal of praise from respected critics, and thus a visit was a must.
The tiny space, with maybe six tables, is decorated with simplicity, except for the fantastical wallpaper by Christian LaCroix covering one entire wall. Menus show a choice of a 3 or 4 course blind tasting menu at lunch. We naturally chose 4 courses at 37 Euros.
Sardanac's kitchen is very innovative and creative, and the food shows culinary artistry. The chef (s) must love what they do, because their dishes took a lot of time and effort.
Sautéed Jerusalem Artichoke was surrounded by a powerful peanut sauce and foamed potato. It was a fascinating and many layered dish. Black Mullet was tempered with tangerine and sautéed chicken breast was accompanied by a separate dish of chicken ravioli in broth scooped up with a spoon. This was a lot of food, finalized with a scrumptious lemon tart for dessert. Service was kind and very patient with me. I did think the wine prices were a bit high, and thus we stuck to Sardanac's glass selection.
Our final bill came to 119 Euros. I thought that very fair for such innovative food. read more
