    Pretzel bites
    Celina G.

We are not a family that drinks beer (okay, one of us really does), but Saco River Brewing made us feel right at home. Stop for a bite right before shopping along the street. Fuel up with freshly made pizzas and beer (if you enjoy). The Brezel Bites appetizer and two pizzas - the Pepperoni and the Saco - were enough to satisfy the four of us for lunch. The Pepperoni was standard, but still good. My favorite was the Saco, which was an appetizing combination of proscuitto and porchetta. Crispy and nothing burnt, an extra plus! We actually tried a flight of beer just because we were at a brewery. One of the choices was actually hard seltzer, a good choice for the non-beer drinkers. The waitress was incredibly nice and gave us an extra pour that was on the specials. We sat in the spacious upstairs area. The mild fall day got plenty of people to sit outside on the patio, where you have a view of the railroad.

We were seated immediately but apparently greeter forgot to tell waitress that we were there. We almost left when after 15 minutes we weren't even offered water. Restaurant is clean and looks new. We ordered pepperoni pizza which had tons of cheese and just enough pepperoni. Also ordered mountain berry salad. Only four raspberries and one was moldy. About six blueberries. Was supposed to have goat cheese but only saw a few bits. Lots of chicken which was good.

The perfect spot to grab a bite and sit outside. The beer was great and the seltzer was the best I've ever had. We ordered nachos and appetizers for the kids. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the service was above and beyond!

My friend started with a nice Cold brew (I'm sorry I forget which one) but he liked it and had a few. I tried the Pumpkin brew cocktail which was really tasty. We shared the maple whiskey chicken tenders and they were so delicious. He ordered steak tips with garlic mashed and green beans and I ordered a cheeseburger with French fries. Both were cooked perfectly as requested, we really enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere was really comfortable and our server Kelly was very friendly and so helpful with the menu as well as the details about the brewery and the restaurant upstairs as well (we were trying to figure out what was up there as we sat and enjoyed our Meal). I joined their rewards program before we left because I know we will return. We look forward to next visit that is for sure. Thanks!

Not just for us, but as we watched her interact with customers around the bar as well as making a show of making drinks! Affable and professional, she made a four star visit into five! Thank you! We stopped here a couple of times last year when visiting the area so we decided to give them another try, so happy we did! Sitting at the bar we ordered adult beverages. My wife, a lemon drop and I settled for a draft double IPA they had. The lemon drop was top notch! Of course, my beer was terrific as well. We opened with a loaded tot starter. The flavor combinations on the platter were spectacular! The roasted corn, cheese, and bacon really set everything off! For our main meals, my wife decided on their hamburger without a bun while I went back and tried their tavern salad with blackened salmon. Our meals came out relatively quickly. Just long enough in between courses! I was thoroughly impressed with the tavern salad and blackened salmon, absolutely delicious! The bun less hamburger was huge. My wife was able to eat about 2/3. We also ordered their house made chips. A huge serving! The restaurant itself was clean and well kept as were the restrooms! This is one of our favorite spots in the area! I know we'll be back before we depart. Again, thank you Lil for doing such a terrific job!

The bad : Service is terrible and nonexistent, you have to order at the bar and pick up your own food. Of course, they ask for a 25% tip anyway. They upsold a beer right before closing, and then told us we have clear off. With the full beer they just happily to sold us. Also, food prices are absolutely disgusting. See the photo with the menu - $13 for a pretzel. Just absolute cash grabbing nonsense. The good: the outdoor space is quite nice. Large lawn, lots of options between picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. Some little trails in a wooded area (for disc golf, but still little paths to walk). The beer is good, at least the farmhouse and Scottish ales.

We came here after attending the massive Gunstock Ski sale. We now have an après ski place coming back home from skiing at Gunstock. Really awesome ambiance and even better service. Just superb service with knowledgeable and friendly bar tenders who explained the brews and the intricate flavors. We tried both their IPAs, the Palmer's Towm IPA and their Lake Cruiser. Both superb. Then a Pumpkin ale that was awesome and a Sour that made us pucker (for the good). Then we thought about food.... Their flat bread pizza, pepperoni and hot honey, is the only thing that beats the Ragged Mountain flatbreads.... And then we had their Bavarian Pretzels which were a wonderful compliment... Overall a superb late afternoon.

The Italian dressing was delicious! It's more of a creamy Italian. I went with their hibiscus tea. It was lite and refreshing but I wish it wa a little sweet. It's like a scavenger hunt through the kitchen! Check out the merch. My husband left with a sweatshirt that had a cool leather logo stitched in. Very different so we couldn't pass up buying one.

There was natural brick everywhere and little piggies lining every corner of the place. I sat at the bar and sampled a number of their beers, I think it was eight out of 10. They do serve food as well and since it wasn't quite dinner time, I opted for the special which was butternut squash bisque. Holy cow was this delicious! Thick and rich and warming, and served with a piece of brown bread that was just perfect for dipping. I will definitely go back here again anytime I am in the area.
