As a vegetarian, I quite enjoyed my meal here. The sweet potato and black bean taco was delicious…read more(in my opinion, better than the fried avocado one). What made the taco so special was the fresh melt-in-your-mouth blue corn tortilla! The spicy mezcal margarita was also so good (better than the pineapple one). And Christian provided great service! The ambiance was lovely to sit in their patio and enjoy the historic streets and buildings.

Taco Azul space looks small from the pictures on social media but it is perfectly sized and very cozy. Their ceiling lights have a fun pattern reminiscent of Bartaco. The restaurant gives very vibey vibes like the average Boston trendy taco spot. Moody lighting and those tiny lamp lights they put on the table. It was quite busy on a rainy weekday so I am very glad to have made a reservation. The server was great with getting to us when we arrived and checking on us initially. I think they made the chips in house and they were very thick but they didn't really stand out to me and the guac was very citrus sour. We didnt even finish it . It was wild cause it was like $16.99. The margaritas are not too sweet with the alcohol hidden within the mix. I would go just for these. The tacos were pretty good with baby tortillas. They were also quite messy and they didn't give you any utensils.... My favorite was the citrus or chipotle chicken, my friend and I both got chicken so I am honestly not sure. I finished off with the ice cream and the tiniest churro which was UBER sweet. This coming from a very very sweet oriented girlie.I would stick with tacos, drinks and maybe a cute little dessert! $$ Food 6.5 Atmosphere 7 Service 6.5 What we had Smokey pineapple margarita Guac and chips Beef birria taco Crispy shrimp taco Citrus chicken taco Chipotle chicken taco Pork carnitas Churro Sundae

Boston was hot and steamy and abuzz with Scottish World Cup fans flocking in to the city. I stopped…read moreinto bartaco for a quick lunch, and the chic atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining, and incredibly upbeat staff seemed to match the excitement permeating throughout the city leading up to a summer weekend. I was eager to try a variety of tacos, though I was warned the tacos are quite small. It was a fair warning. I ordered 5 tacos, and expected to leave stuffed, but I was hungry again by 4:00pm. Eeeek. These are 3-bite tacos. Although small, I enjoyed the flavors of all the tacos I tasted. My favorites were the seafood varieties. 1) Baja fish - really crispy batter, creamy, spicy slaw 2) Yucatán shrimp - great texture, and spicy bean-like plantain puree. The pork belly was sweet, but a bit dry. In addition to the picked red onions, it could have used another saucy component. The carnitas and chorizo tacos were also good, but were less interesting for my palate. My five tacos were $20, without any sides or drinks. They have lots of shareable sides and appetizers, and I could easily drop a lot of $ filling up on their tasty bites while lingering in their lovely space.

I'm ashamed to admit this was my first time having Birria Tacos. I went down the rabbit hole the…read morenight before watching videos about tacos like this and decided I need to try them ASAP. I read reviews on Maria's and it was reasonably close to my office so I hit it up for lunch. Admittedly I don't have anything to compare against but they were fantastic. The beef/brisket was flavorful, tender but still kept its bite/chew. The onions, cilantro and cheese seemed in great proportion. I've seen some videos where it looks like there could be more cheese - but I personally think it would've been too heavy and uncalled for - taking away from the overall flavor which was in perfect balance. The tacos were griddled to perfection - leaving the corn tortillas with a perfect crunch exterior which held up to the moistness of the ingredients contained inside. Finally - the dipping sauce was like liquid (red) gold. It had depth, flavor, and just enveloped the tacos when dipping them in. It was $15 for 3 and truthfully I had to push to get them all down (but refused to leave a bite behind). I'd love to try their esquires the next time I'm in, but will need to find someone to split the order of tacos first. Lol The 2 guys working there were friendly and super efficient. There was nothing about this trip that would ever make me hesitate from returning and wanting to work my way through the full menu.
