Bad restaurant, asked for plater chicken and steak with lo main they gave am rice plater with fries don't go here

I was walking in Elizabeth looking for a place to eat and walked into this place randomly bc I can never say no to Peruvian food. When you walk in it's a decent size restaurant seems family owned the waitress was very nice, it felt like your auntie was taking your order. I had the lomo salteado and chicha morada and it was one of the best lomos I ever had. The meat was nice and tender and very flavorful definitely recommend. The chicha was also good. They also had an amazing spicy green sauce, I used almost 1/3 of the bottle it was so good. read more

Food was excellent. I But I will never be back, I spent $50 by myself. They charged me for extra sauce meanwhile every table in the place had a large squeeze bottle. I asked for extra sauce when I left and was culturally ignored. Too bad to because I would have been back often if they treated me right. Oh well plenty more where they came from. read more

They have severely reduced their portions. The trays look the same except they are very shallow. I'm so disappointed. I've been ordering here for years. My last order of seafood rice and lomo saltaldo was very small. They are also inconsistent with extra sauce that you pay for. There are a few other Peruvian spots in Union I will try. I will NOT pay these prices for such small portions. read more

ACTUAL ADDRESS: 302 Morris Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ 07208 With the exception of Pepe's BBQ in West Orange, I don't think I've ever eaten at a Peruvian restaurant that I didn't like. All Peruvian, Colombian--and pretty much all Latin American cuisines--restaurants serve huge portions when it comes to grilled meat, roasted chicken, or fried seafood dishes. Sabor Peruano follows that same practice. I had lunch here early this afternoon and I enjoyed everything my table ordered. Lomo a lo Pobre (Sauteed Beef, Tomatoes, and Onions with Fries, Two Eggs, and Fried Plantains) ($13) (A-): It's delicious, period. The rich sauce that the beef, tomatoes, and onions are sauteed in adds a saltiness that blends well with all the ingredients, including the french fries that were thrown in. The fried eggs on top of the large scoop of white rice were cooked over easy, so there was Instagram-worthy yolk action. For some reason, I tend to save the plantains until I'm done eating everything else. As usual, the plantains were fried to perfection. My lone complaint is the excessive amount of oil in the sauce. It was literally dripping off the fries as I pierced each one with my fork. Pollo Entero con Papas y Ensalada (Whole roasted chicken with fries and a salad) ($15) (A-): I was able to try the breast meat and I liked it a lot more than the Portuguese roast chicken. The main difference is that Portuguese roasted chicken seems to lack seasoning of any kind, except for the natural charred flavor from the grill. However, if I had a choice, I think I'd still pick the roasted chicken from Tito Polleria. For me, the chicken was probably roasted a minute or so too long. Nevertheless, you can't go wrong with ordering this especially when the spicy mayo and green sauce are served with it! Arroz Chaufa Mixto (Peruvian-style fried rice with beef and chicken) ($12) (A-): I see this on Latin American restaurant menus everywhere in Elizabeth, especially along Morris Ave. The cook was generous with the portions, including the amount of beef and chicken mixed in it. While it may be "Chinese-inspired," this fried rice seems to have its own distinct taste. Maybe it's the type of oil used or maybe the seasonings added, but if I tried this blindfolded, I probably wouldn't say it was Chinese fried rice. There's something different--and tasty--about this. For the more adventurous eaters like myself, check out the grilled heart, stomach, and intestines on the menu! They're on my list for next time I stop by. Also, shout-out to the guy who took my table's order! He was really nice and even opened our drinks for us. It's not that big of a deal, but it definitely leaves a good impression on customers. Very friendly staff, very nice chatting with me while I waited for my order. The breakfast sandwich with pork that I ordered was interesting, the flavor was good but the combination was plain and that the pork was so DRY that I couldn't finish half of it. Friendly reminder: Peruvian Food was voted one of the best cuisines in the world... for the 7th year in a row! With that said, this restaurant lives up to the standard! The food is amazing!! Their menu is full of choices and I've yet to choose something that left me unhappy... I have been coming to this restaurant for years now and in my humble opinion, it's by far the best Peruvian restaurant in this area when it comes to flavor - and let's face it, Flavor is the most important part of a restaurant.. Its cozy environment can probably hold about 40 people, give or take? No need to dress up...the portions are very generous and when the soccer games are in full swing, you won't be able to set foot in the door.... Bottom line: Whether you eat in or do take-out, you will not be disappointed! Hope you enjoy it! read more

Ordered 1/4 chicken with fries and salad. I trusted Yelp reviews that this place was good, I shouldn't have. The young lady who took my call was very curt, no customer service here. Came to pick up food and I should have been put off my the locale, but I have eaten some of the best meals at dives so I never judge a restaurant. I got my food and asked the attendant for some mayonnaise, she said its in the bag. I look inside and no mayonnaise but the Peruvian yellow sauce. I ask her for regular mayonnaise but she said curtly I don't have any..what kind of a Hispanic restaurant doesn't have mayonesa? I go to my office and open the containers and try some food.The chicken is extremely dry, the salad all iceberg lettuce with two tiny tomato slices and it is all drowned in some ranch sauce, and maduros have a weird after taste like they were fried in leftover oil. The pictures don't lie, the food tasted as gross as it looked and the lack of customer service didn't help it. First and last time I will come here. With so many eateries on Morris avenue and surrounding area they need to step up their game as competition is steep. I work nearby and lunch cost me $10 max and it's enough food that I split it between two days. From the menu posted they increased prices, I paid $13.91 for a lunch I won't be splitting in two days but I will be tossing it. The search for Peruvian food near me continues.. read more

Amazing food! We ordered ceviche de pescado, ceviche de camarón, half a chicken, white rice, and tallarín de bistec. I have never had such a good Peruvian meal! The ceviche de camarón was perfect. First time having tallarín and was so delicious. The pesto taste wasn't overwhelming and the steak was tender and very well seasoned. Big portion of the tallarín (a whole small tray). I am so happy that the other Peruvian restaurant flaked on my order lol. read more

This place gets no stars. The place is nice but that's where it all ends. We ordered the Chicha, my glass came with a hair, when sipping thru the straw. I asked for another one. We tried the anticuchos very rubbery and too salty. The server realized there was a piece of tomato on the anticuchos and reached over to pick up with her hands. Sorry but you didn't even disinfect your hands to touch our food? I had the tallarines verdes con bistec. The spaghetti was good and there was color but no flavor. Completely bland, the steak was very rubbery also very bland. One of the light fixtures had a dead fly dangling from it that I just couldn't un-see once I saw it. This place is TERRIBLE, no customer service and DISRESPECTFUL. They accepted my order for delivery, charged my account and then didn't deliver my food. I was willing to pay again just to get my food, then they tell me they are closed when they are open for 2 more hours. read more

Very pricey dishes that does not match the food quality. I ordered a cause de pollo for $12 and it was mediocre a lil small portion with no chicken filling at all. The entraña seemed that someone who doesn't know how to cook made it ($17) el arroz chakra mixto was gross ($17) el lomo saltado was more rice and fries than the actual lomo ($15-17) el pollo a las brasa was the only thing I enjoyed the seasoning was good ($16 for a whole chicken) go somewhere else cuz these people have the nerves to charge so much money without backing it up with the food. read more

Very satisfied... I will def be coming back to try more of what they have on the menu... had their pollo a la brasa and it was flavorful... their ají verde was really good too :) .. I used to go to Sudaka around the corner however they fell WAY OFF and now I think I found a good replacement, and it's even closer to my job :D read more

I'm Peruvian so I can be a bit picky about traditional Peruvian food. But the Tallerine Verde con bistek was yummy. The Bistek Ala Pobre was also delicious. Ordered a side of beans. They had canary beans... Yum Yum!!! Sunday afternoon service was courteous and fairly quick. Prices are reasonable. Will come here again! read more

The food is great, reasonably priced, and they serve pretty large portions. Try the Lomo Saltado or the roasted chicken!
