My favorite food truck Sabor a Malibu
    Andrew D.

This is absolutely my favorite food truck in Malibu. Not only is the service extremely nice but the food is great as well. Today I ordered the Asada burrito and just finished eating it and made me want to leave this review. a few days ago I had the chicken burrito and a burger and both were fantastic also . I hope this truck stays around for a long time as I will keep coming back and back. Sabor a Malibu keep doing what you are doing and I will recommend you to anyone that asks where a good place to eat is. The ambiance is great too, watch the ocean on one the best and beautiful beaches in Malibu and eat great food

I ordered three of the carne asada tacos but wish I had ordered more, they were great! The meat was well seasoned and the sauce was a good touch. My favorite part was the jalapeño on the side, I liked the natural kick it gave the food. The price was pretty good, it was $2 per taco. There's also plenty of parking where the truck it located and you can take your food to the beach and enjoy it there. I would recommend you try it if you're in the area.

    This is the view lol

Food was great but the lady in the front sucked. Supper yummy tho. We got 2 burritos (1 shrimp and 1 chicken), 2 tacos, 2 quesadillas (1 reg,1chicken) total was $45!! Great price

Food truck heaven with fabulous burritos and arapas. Pepper sauce is pure fire. Nice setting above Malibu Beach on Pacific Coast Highway

Delicious breakfast burritos! The jalapeños on the side gave it a perfect extra kick, salsa was flavorful and spicy. Lovely people, great service, good food! Must try!!! :-) We'll be back often!

The Asada tacos were really good. I'd skip on the shaved ice next time. The strawberry syrup tasted like jelly mixed with water.

I had the pleasure of catching a Slenderbodies show and the cool 70s aesthetic was a perfect backdrop for the sultry sexy music that Slenderbodies makes. The venue is open but small, which makes for an Uber intimate setting that feels more like hanging out at a cool house party. Everyone in attendance and the staff was super chill which also made for a great concert experience. The food was also delicious which honestly wasn't something I was expecting from a clothing store/bar/music venue; needless to say, I was thoroughly pleased. We showed up when the doors opened and that made it really easy to grab one of the cool lounging sofas nearby while we waited for the show to start, once the show did start we made our way up to the stage area that offered plenty of great viewing. There's a DJ before the set which again makes waiting a lot more fun than your standard concert venue. I hope to catch another great show at Dreamland, highly recommend.

And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.

Unfortunately, despite the beautiful ambiance it was a bit of a fiasco. For an appetizer, we chose the calamari but it was overly breaded and greasy. It immediately upset our stomachs. We ordered the "Gigantic Seafood Tower." When we asked our waiter how it differed from the appetizer platter, he simply said it added lobster. We weren't prepared for the scale; it was an enormous amount of food, easily enough for 6-8 people. For our party of 3 (2 adults, 1 child), it was overkill. We spent over $200 (market price) and had to leave half of it behind since we live too far away for the leftovers to keep. The menu says "It's a lot of seafood," but it really should specify a recommended party size to avoid this kind of waste. The exit was equally stressful. A system failure at the gate and parking ATM caused a massive backup that took nearly an hour to clear. We were charged the $65 beach rate despite having restaurant validation (which should have been $15). The saving grace was David, who I think was the manager. He was out there in the parking lot, going car-to-car to explain the refund process and eventually redirecting traffic through a manual side gate. He was hustling and deserves a raise for handling a mess that wasn't even the restaurant's fault. Sadly, between the menu confusion and the parking nightmare, we won't be back.

To start with the positives, because there were some, the service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, attentive, and professional. Our espresso martinis were excellent, and my fiancée's food was genuinely great. She had the seabass, which was perfectly prepared, and oysters that were fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, my meal was a completely different story. I ordered the hanger steak with scrambled eggs, and both were overwhelmingly salty. The steak was over-seasoned to the point of being barely edible, and the eggs were so salty they were simply not edible at all. I tried to push through because I know I'm someone who watches sodium and restaurant food can sometimes taste saltier, but this was far beyond that. This was excessive. The guacamole and pico de gallo also tasted like they had been sitting out far too long, clearly not fresh and likely from the day before. I ended up sending the food back, something I almost never do. I wasn't expecting a full refund, but I was surprised that there was no effort made to offer any kind of discount. To be fair to our server, I didn't make a big scene, I simply said the food was too salty to eat. In hindsight, I probably should have taken the offer to have it remade, but at that point my appetite was gone. What made it worse is that I left the restaurant still hungry and really disappointed. It's especially unfortunate because we had actually been considering this restaurant for an upcoming graduation reception. After this experience, that's completely off the table. We won't be returning. It's frustrating when a place can clearly execute well in some areas but completely miss the mark in others. I truly hope this was just an off day, but based on this visit, I can't justify giving it another chance.
