This is long overdue. Draft needed to be shared hehe. Been here several times now and it's always delicious and made with attention to detail. Eduardo the owner is ALWAYS very attentive and full of joy to serve us. He checks on us to make sure everything is ok with our orders. Kiren the other owner has been awesome too, since our first visit. She was concerned my daughter wasn't eating. Also, always checking in on us. She remembered us the second time we came and asked if my daughter if she was doing better because the first time we were there she had morning sickness so she couldn't enjoy her food. I love finding hidden GEMS, especially Mexican restaurants, with real Mexican food!! What can I say ?! We love it ! Five times here. No regrets. Always good. Food is delicious! Service is AWESOME! Always so friendly, warm, & helpful since the first time we found them. . :D Can't believe it took me so long to find this hidden gem living nearby and around here all the time. How did I find it ?? Well, how do I, and we all, find all my / our favorite restaurants? I Yelped of course !!! :D I was in the area looking for a good place to eat. I yelped Mexican food and TA DA ! I would have never found it, since it's sort of hidden in an area less traveled, in the shopping center across from the West Covina Mall, behind sushiholics & The Bundt place. Same center where Panera is & Sushiholics, except it's on the back side street, on California Ave. I would have never walked over there, on the backside of the shopping center. Just happy to have found it now! Besides GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD ! We are suckers for birria. So 1st time here we had birria chilaquiles with over medium eggs plate, quesabirria, and ramen birria hehe ! YUMMM Yes, it was good, a little spicy for me, but good. I always have to clarify how I want my eggs at restaurants because believe it or not some cooks don't understand that over medium means soft yolks. They sometimes bring me over hard and that's not what I ordered. Over medium eggs have to be just right! No runny whites and no hard yolk. I explained that to Eduardo when ordering because I didn't want hard or soft; runny & gooey whites ewww. So I'm always very specific. Eduardo said no problem, if we don't get them right we can remake them for you. :D Woohooo ! They were perfect! Not many places get it right the first time, so they always remake them, but not here ! PERFECTION !! Thank you Eduardo!! I was happy ! Can't forget about the coffee!!! Oooh coffee! We love coffee so when the owner told us iced coffee ! Whoa ! Our eyes lit up ! YESSSSS please! It was good as well and when she saw we had finished it, she offered us a free refill. Thank you my new friend! You're the best !!! You made our day !!! We were like we're coming back !!! 2nd time, I had bulgogi breakfast bowl with over medium eggs ! I love eggs with beef ! Who doesn't ?! lol Eggs were perfect ! Beef was perfect too ! My grandson ate all my bulgogi though lol! I guess he liked it too. 3rd time on Friday 7/25/25 Eduardo always very cheerful & welcoming :) I ordered the chicken salad lunch, daughter ordered the green pozole! She's a sucker for green pozole hehe. I loved my salad! It was perfect! The chicken was perfect, pulled pieces with a green dressing that was whoa soooo YUMMMM ! This is making me hungry now. Daughter said pozole was good too Of course we will be back !! Need to try to yellow curry ! Next couple times had to order some previously had dishes like Birria ramen, tacos, pozole and chicken salad. Eduardo also accommodated my grandson, as he loves chicken but we get him grilled chicken. So he made a kids version of the chicken salad and it was just perfect and delicious too. PS good spot for kids too. They have a Foosball table ! So when they get antsy, they can go play! Kids love it and play every time. Great thinking! Thank you for this addition to your restaurant ! It's a plus for us with little ones because it helps with their impatience. This is GOLD !! Thank you Eduardo and Kiren ! We will be back next time we're looking for yummy Mexican food or are nearby. Have you tried ? Let me know if you stop by. I'd love to know what was your favorite dish. Happy eating & happy Yelping ! SYOY or IG ;) PS Support small family owned pro American businesses. I've been wanting to try Sabino's Kitchen for a while because the sign outside always advertises a weekday special and it really caught my attention. I finally went, and I'm honestly a little disappointed. The first red flag was realizing we weren't even offered that special. We ordered straight off the regular menu without anyone mentioning it, which made me question why it's promoted so heavily outside. Our waitress was very kind, but the drinks were almost undrinkable. I'm really trying not to be harsh, but I don't know what happened with them because they tasted off in a way that made me feel like it wasn't worth the money. I ordered enchiladas and flautas and they were just okay, nothing bad but nothing memorable. What really got to me was how cold everything felt, especially the beans. Cold beans in a dine-in restaurant just don't make sense. Nothing on the plate was hot enough to feel freshly made. While we were eating I also noticed the restaurant had this strong dirty mop smell, almost like a towel that's been sitting too long. It was hard to ignore and it affected the whole experience. From my seat I could even see some seasonings and part of the kitchen through a curtain and it made me uncomfortable because it didn't feel very controlled or clean. I went to check the restroom and that honestly confirmed it. It wasn't clean at all, which confused me because the place wasn't busy. If it's slow, cleanliness should be the easiest thing to keep up with. I tried to distract myself by playing foosball, which I thought was a cute touch, but the table was broken too. It's little things like that that add up and make the visit feel careless, especially for a business you want to support. I will say the owner or chef came out to check on guests, which was very courteous and genuinely appreciated. That effort is the main reason I'm giving three stars instead of less. I really wanted to like this place, but based on what I experienced I don't think I'll be back.

Sabino Kitchen (West Covina) offers freshly cooked, affordable food. I ordered the Chilaquiles ($16) with asada/beef (extra $2). I selected red and green sauce. For its accompanying eggs, I selected scrambled. It's a lot of food! I arrived at Sabino Kitchen (West Covina) on Saturday (around 9AM / opening time). It's located across the street from West Covina Mall. It's hidden in the back corner, neighboring a Yogurtland. Parking is simple since its lot is wide. I was seated immediately. Customers can also find menus near the front counter. Staff (receipt said Kiren) is professional and welcoming. Kiren answered all my questions, and Kiren worked quickly. I ordered the Chilaquiles ($16) with asada/beef (extra $2). The food arrived within 10 minutes and 57 seconds. Very fast! I genuinely enjoyed my meal. Its scrambled eggs arrived big, thick, and soft. In addition, the chilaquiles' tangy red & green sauces, gentle & stretchy mozzarella cheese, and fresh & crisp chips were delicious. Its asada/beef also came thick with a satisfying bite. It's a delicious composition of flavors when eaten altogether. If I were to nitpick, the ingredients tasted lackluster when eaten individually. The carne/beef is dry and coarse. The scrambled eggs are bland and almost rubbery. And the beans were watery, thin, and wet. I did not enjoy those mushy beans. Those mushy beans had a processed sweet flavor which brought an off-putting perfume aftertaste. Concerning ambiance, Sabino Kitchen (West Covina) is gorgeous. Its interior is surprisingly upscale. I adored its vibrant, hanging plants. The furniture and tables also looked shiny and well-maintained. This location even has a foosball table near its side. Its beauty is almost undercut with how bland and forgettable its exterior appears Sabino Kitchen (West Covina) is also very clean, well-ventilated, and spacious. I was somewhat mesmerized by its three spinning ceiling fans and three powerful bolted fans as they blew a storm of fresh wind. The ceiling is also very tall. And the location also has several flat screen TVs. These televisions played the news channel and the soccer channel in Espanol. No music played at Sabino Kitchen (West Covina); rather, the main sounds derived from its loud TVs. (Quick Note: Customers are expected to walk to the front counter for payment.) Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience at Sabino Kitchen (West Covina). The food is huge, affordable, and cooked well. I left full and satisfied. If nearby, I happily recommend. 4.5 out of 5

I wanted brunch but, didn't want to drive too far. Yelp guided me here and I wasn't disappointed! The restaurant is spacious with cute decor and although the doors were open, it wasn't uncomfortably hot inside. They have a couple of fans running so it was a nice breeze. We were seated immediately and browsed their menu. I love that this restaurant is fusion. You can get Curry, Birria or Pancakes! To drink I ordered the iced coffee and my mother ordered the Cafe De Olla. We both loved the coffee, I even took one to go. I decided to go with the Birria plate. It came with rice, beans and tortillas. The portion is super generous and overall the dish was delicious. The beef was tender and the rice and beans were really good! Mom ordered the Chilaquiles with Birria and she cleared her damn plate. I appreciate that everything seems to be homemade including their complimentary salsa and chips. I will definitely come bank to try other options. I highly recommend coming here for breakfast, brunch or dinner. Please be patient, staff is limited but, I didn't mind waiting a bit for a great experience.

Chicharron plate, with egg on the side.

Stopped in for a Sunday breakfast with my son and my guy. I ordered chilaquiles, my guy ordered Chicharron plate. I ordered cafe de olla, which was delicious, my son an ice coffee, and my guy a regular coffee. Service was great, food was good but this time the plate was loaded. My guy didn't care for his chicharron plate, he said "the sauce was tangy, soury tasting." He didn't send it back, but he ate the beans and potatoes, the tortillas were like quesadillas, which he was shocked because he thought it was just tortillas, what a nice surprise. My son had the same as me, and his plate was almost empty. I tapped out because the serving was huge, I was satisfied. The service was a 5+, the ambience was another 5+ but a 4 for the chicharron plate. Maybe it was slightly off. Will definitely come back again..

Super amazing place and such a hidden gem. Not only they serve great Mexican food, but to our delight they serve really good Mexican Asian fusion dishes as well as some authentic Indonesian food. The Birria Ramen is to die for and really well executed. The Nasi Uduk (Indonesian rice dish typically eaten for breakfast or brunch but good anytime of the day if you ask me) is very tasty and quite authentic. Service is friendly and good but can be a bit slow at least when we're there. Place is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommended.

Went here early morning with a group of 6! Super cute interior. I believe this place is like a Mexican/Indonesian fusion. I loved that the menu had a variety of things, but not too many where it gets overwhelming. Everyone loved whatever they ordered. I really liked that the lady that took our order (i think she's the owner!!) was super nice, patient, and willing to describe the different unique dishes to someone like me who is so indecisive!

Honestly, Sabino Kitchen in West Covina never misses. I've been coming here for the past 2 years--ever since I turned 21--and it's become one of my go-to spots. The Asian-Mexican fusion is crazy good... like, who knew those flavors could go together so perfectly? I brought my girlfriend here for her 21st and she fell in love too. We got the birria ramen, huevos rancheros, and the mimosa flight--everything was . You can taste how fresh and intentional everything is. Major shoutout to the chef and his mom, seriously the best duo ever. You can feel the love in every bite. The whole vibe is super homey and welcoming, like you're eating at a friend's house who just happens to be an amazing chef. If you're in the area and haven't checked this place out yet--go now. You'll thank yourself later.

First time coming here and everything was amazing. The inside is well-lit with natural light, has hanging flower decor, and a foosball table. All of the food we ordered came out in a timely manner and was so good and comforting, my favorite was the chilaquiles with asada. The staff were so warm and welcoming. The main person in the front was one of the owners and she provided good care and hospitality to my family and I. Haven't had good service and food like this in a while, I highly recommend coming here!!

Such a cute brunch spot! Service was amazing, everyone was so kind and very helpful. Food was amazing and well presented!

We started with guacamole and chips and fish tacos, then shared a big platter with carne asada, grilled chicken, cheese, nopales, grilled cebollitas and more, along with rice and beans. There was plenty of food to share, everything came out beautifully presented, and everything we tried was delicious. We finished with the churros, which were also really good. The drinks were very well made and actually nice and strong! I appreciate that because so many places serve drinks that taste watered down, and that definitely wasn't our experience here. The restaurant itself is really cute and has some great signs and backgrounds for pictures. We got some really nice group photos for our social media, and one of the employees even volunteered to take a picture for us so we could all be in it, which was really sweet. Even the girls' restroom was super cute and nicely decorated. You can tell they put thought into the little details throughout the place. Our waitress, Marissa, was wonderful from beginning to end. She was sweet, attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout the night. The other employees we interacted with were also very friendly and helpful. I'm really happy our first experience here was such a good one. I would definitely come back for another girls' night, but I could also see myself coming back with my husband and kids for a family dinner. Definitely a place I would recommend.

It's a large-ish space, and I guess kind of like a sit-down place (not "turo-turo/cafeteria style like some Filipino joints), with a ton of Filipino snacks on the counter. Plenty of seats that have seen better days. A portion of the restaurant is covered in plastic to house some construction equipment ? I asked for the pork sisig ala carte and decided to add an order of kalderetang kambing and 2c of rice. Big mistake buying more than one entree when you are taking it home and have no clue how their food tastes. I trusted Yelp too much. . Sisig had a 1:1 ratio of meat to bell peppers. I also couldn't help but feel lile the peppers were undercooked, even raw. Maybe that was their style, but I also disliked the mayo on top. Now the kalderetang kambing had a strange fishy (gamey) smell in the car. When I tried it at home, the meat looked so red and tasted way too sweet, not at all like the Kalderetas I'm used to back home. The meat was falling off the bone soft though. This is my problem with Filipino restaurants in the US - if they can't make dishes better tasting than what I make at home (i rarely cook but im a good eater), I cannot rate them high at all. I've eaten too much Filipino food in my life to know what tastes good. I feel bad because the folks who work here/(owners?) are pretty nice and they were working on Valentines. But the current rating they have is misleading. If you're going for the big entrees like I did, and are used to Gerry's Grill type sisig, prepare to be disappointed. Yelp, you did not come thru for me this time.

Severely overrated, omg. Wife and I came in for a sandwich…read moreand boy was this place underwhelming. First red flag we noticed is that they use Lavazza machines for their coffee drinks. Lavazza might as well be the sugary gimmicks Starbucks can pull off on their best days. You're paying for the name, not the quality of your drinks. Next red flag was the counters behind the 'baristas.' They were stocked with buckets of sugary ingredients like some store bought cookie butter stacked on top of some other store bought 'dubai' butter. That seemed a bit unsanitary and, frankly, kinda sloppy. Last red flag were the sad, sauce-soaked paninis we got. In fact, they were probably the worst paninis we've ever had. Our chicken chipotle avocado panini was drenched in what clearly tasted like store-bought chipotle sauce and the chicken just tasted like reheated chopped breasts (I mean I wouldn't blame them, they're a cafe, not a kitchen.) The mango habanero panini was even worse in that it was more drenched in what also tasted like store-bought habanero sauce, making the panini a dripping mess. But the choice of using what tasted like candied dried mango slices in the sandwich was awful. The flavors just did not marry and it's likely because this is what happens when you have a great idea, but use crap and cheap ingredients to craft something. Maybe they are better known for some other dishes, but the fact that they use store-bought sauces on their sandwiches is pretty tacky. Overall, this place is all hype and no heart. Just a steady flow of clout-chasing customers akin to those that frequent Starbucks as part of a lifestyle. Don't fall for the hype. It's okay to not like something that the masses do.

They serve a traditional Mexican open buffet at certain times. The waiting line is expected, but don't feel discouraged because it moves fast. The decor is vibrant enriched with colorful murals. The staff are very welcoming and genuinely warm. The restaurant has cozy and inviting ambience. Outdoor and indoor seating are available. I placed an online order for pickup. It was fast and convenient since I had friends coming for dinner. I ordered the following: - Burrito Panchon 5/5 Stuffed with carnita, beans and rice, served with cream, beans and guacamole. Huge portion! You can choose your protein. - Fajitas Cielo Mar Y Tierra 5/5 Marinated beef, shrimp, chicken. It served with sauteed bell peppers tomatoes and onions, rice, guacamole, beans and pico de gallo. It was smoky, savory and flavorful. - Vegetarian Enchiladas 5/5 Corn tortillas stuffed with bell pepper, corn, onion, carrot, cilantro, squash, and topped with a combination of cream and jack cheese. The portion was enormous. It was a very flavorful and savory. - Carna Asada 5/5 Flap meat marinated with homemade adobo. It served with pico de gallo, rice & guacamole. The meat was juicy and tender. It was such a delicious dish. - Empanadas 5/5 I chose chicken empanadas. It served with salad. The empanadas was crispy from outside and very flavorful. - Ensalada de Nopales 5/5 Diced cactus mixed with tomatoes, onion, lime, and cilantro. - Taquitos 5/5 It was crispy from outside with savory and juicy filling. - Taco de Cameron , taco de Pescado & taco de Birria 5/5 They were savory, juicy and delicious. - Beans 5/5 Topped with melted cheese, really delicious - Large Bionico Bowl 5/5 Fresh fruits like topped strawberries, mango, cantaloupe, banana, papaya, blueberries, apples, pineapple topped with granola and shaved coconut. It was rich, creamy. The fruits were fresh and sweet. It was heavenly! Every box was wrapped with layers of plastic wrap perfectly. I got a bag full of different types of salsa with my order and another bag with tortilla chips. The food portions were very generous. Every dish reflected authenticity and deliciousness. Fonda Don Chon has high quality, flavorful and delicious food. It is my FAVORITE MEXICAN RESTAURANT.

I'm sorry, but I wanted to like this place. Let's start with…read morethe drink. -Cafe De Olla. I don't know, I've had it at quite a few places. Even made it myself. Just wasn't a fan of theirs. Now the food.... I had the Chon's Breakfast Comal. The chorizo was ok. Lacked quite a bit of flavor. Potatoes tasted kinda like they were boiled and then finished in a sauce, then plated. The bell peppers and onions were fantastic. A lot. But they were cooked well. Over easy eggs were decent, despite one of them being cooked all the way through. Comal was perfect temperature. But insanely greasy (which is expected from chorizo). Rice. Eh... Rice is rice. Wasn't bad. But was all "Oh my goodness this is amazing." Beans tasted like the refried Rosarita's can. Just topped with cheese. The salsa. It was pretty good. The 1st time. Until I found a hair. Then I was given a 2nd one. And when I decided to eat it, it was no good. It was starting to spoil. I realized this once I put it on a bite I was about to take and immediately put it in my food i was about to chew in my napkin. After about 15 minutes when my server finally came by, I told her of the situation. She said "I'll go check." Then disappeared. Someone else gave me the check, and then someone else brought the receipt. The initial server didn't pop up until I was getting up to walk out. So no manager interaction. No "we'll comp your coffee." Just a "Sorry you didn't like it." As I walked out. Ambiance is cool, but some table placement doesn't make sense. That needs to be addressed. Will I come back here? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. But I'm talking like 80 no /20 yea. So I guess we'll see.. So I'm giving this place 1 star. I'm sorry, but this is my opinion based on my 1st experience here. Maybe it'll be better. We'll see....
